0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. It's that time of the week were we take a look at

0:00:06 > 0:00:08international destinations and we start in Europe.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11It's the middle of August, you can expect high temperatures.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14That's exactly what we've got across the Mediterranean in particular.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17We have temperatures indicated by the deep oranges and reds

0:00:17 > 0:00:18of the low-to-mid-30s.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21So, across the Greek islands, it should be lovely. Lots of sunshine.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24Probably not quite as hot on the islands as it will be in Athens,

0:00:24 > 0:00:2635 degrees in the centre of the city.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28And pretty hot across much of the Balkans, into Italy,

0:00:28 > 0:00:29the low 30s here.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Should be lovely across much of the Mediterranean -

0:00:31 > 0:00:34many of the Balearic Islands enjoy some sunshine,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36as you will do across much of Spain and Portugal.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38In the sunshine in Seville, we'll see temperatures here

0:00:38 > 0:00:41up to 36, 37 degrees, so pretty hot conditions here.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44A bit more comfortable in Faro, at around about 30 degrees.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Lots of sunshine here through the weekend.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Now, there is some rain to be found in the far North of Portugal,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53Northern Spain, across the Pyrenees, some outbreaks of rain to be found

0:00:53 > 0:00:56and into the South of France, again, we've got some rain in the forecast.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58But I think it should be dry in Paris,

0:00:58 > 0:01:01and relatively comfortable at 22, 23 degrees.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03And it should be a nice start to the weekend in Brussels, 21.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Similar conditions in Amsterdam.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08But I suspect things will go downhill into Sunday

0:01:08 > 0:01:10for this part of the world because it will turn quite wet

0:01:10 > 0:01:13and it could be accompanied by some fairly strong winds as well.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15So that rain could be heavy and thundery -

0:01:15 > 0:01:17it's certainly one to keep an eye on.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, in Florida on Saturday, it looks like

0:01:21 > 0:01:24we will see the cloud building to produce a scattering of showers here.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26A slightly more organised area of rain

0:01:26 > 0:01:28working its way towards the Eastern Seaboard.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31It should stay to the South of New York, where it will be warm,

0:01:31 > 0:01:3428 degrees. But some of that rain may well get into Washington DC.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37But I think it will move through DC by Sunday,

0:01:37 > 0:01:38so it should improve again.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41But, all the while, in New York it looks like a lovely weekend,

0:01:41 > 0:01:4328 Celsius, that is 82 Fahrenheit.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45It should be dry with building cloud into Sunday

0:01:45 > 0:01:47but, as I say, it should stay dry.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49Further West, a lot of dry weather to be found,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52although in Texas, there are likely to be some showers.

0:01:52 > 0:01:53In California, anything but.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57It is bone dry across a large swath of California.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59As we head down to Australia, where it is winter,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01we have weather fronts moving through.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03In fact, we've seen a series of them battering

0:02:03 > 0:02:06the far Southeast of Australia and Tasmania recently. More to come.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09But in the tropical North, about 32-odd degrees in Darwin.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Should be a pretty decent sort of day on Sunday.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Maybe a show or two in Brisbane.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Get down towards the Southeastern corner,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17only 11 degrees with some cloud and wind and rain in Canberra,

0:02:17 > 0:02:1914-16 for Melbourne and Tasmania,

0:02:19 > 0:02:22again with a fair bit of cloud, wind and rain.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Not just rain to contend with for the South Island of New Zealand -

0:02:25 > 0:02:26windy, too.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28But some significant snow up over the Southern Alps

0:02:28 > 0:02:30but not much gets across towards Christchurch.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Into Monday, more wind and rain for New Zealand.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37A lot of it does pull away from Australia but notice in Melbourne

0:02:37 > 0:02:40and Tasmania, those temperatures do drop by a good few degrees.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42Back on our shores to end the week,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44there is the risk of some fairly heavy rainfall.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46A Met Office warning is in force for the Southeast of England

0:02:46 > 0:02:49through the morning, pretty wet and potentially thundery.

0:02:49 > 0:02:50Wet, too, in Northern Ireland.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52That rain working its way Eastwards.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55It may well start dry in that central swath but we are likely to see

0:02:55 > 0:02:58some heavy showers breaking out come the afternoon.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00In the Southwest of England, there are lengthy dry spells

0:03:00 > 0:03:02to be found, so it is not all doom and gloom.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05Get up into Wales and there's a peppering of showers

0:03:05 > 0:03:06out towards the West.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Many places will be dry but the potential for some of those

0:03:08 > 0:03:11heavy showers to creep into the Eastern side of Wales.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13In Northern Ireland, we see the worst of it in the morning.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15Come the afternoon, it is a brighter picture

0:03:15 > 0:03:18but, with showers around, Western Scotland, I'm afraid,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20through the afternoon, is quite wet.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23Eastern Scotland faring that bit better with some dry interludes.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25But you can't rule out the odd shower.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Northern England, thunder and lightning, heavy downpours,

0:03:27 > 0:03:30torrential rain in places, nasty conditions on the roads.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32But not everywhere will see those showers.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34They could be hit-and-miss but there will be a line of them

0:03:34 > 0:03:37through the Midlands towards the Southeast.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39But many Southern counties actually doing quite well.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41Now, the worst of it is out of the way for Saturday.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43It will be a bright and breezy day for many.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46The best of the sun in Eastern Scotland, Eastern England.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Further West, a scattering of showers.

0:03:48 > 0:03:49Then it all goes downhill on Sunday.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52This is the remnant of what was a hurricane.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54By no means is it a hurricane when it hits our shores on Sunday

0:03:54 > 0:03:57but, at the moment, it looks as if that central swath

0:03:57 > 0:03:59and Eastern part of England could be very wet and windy.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04I've never ever, ever done gymnastics at all.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06If their hands aren't bleeding,

0:04:06 > 0:04:08they haven't trained hard enough. Crazy hard.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11Celebrities compete in the greatest show off earth!

0:04:15 > 0:04:15Will it be a golden summer for our athletes?

0:04:15 > 0:04:16The European Championships.
