:00:00. > :00:12.. Good evening. It's the time of week when we turn our attention to
:00:13. > :00:18.international holiday weather, so we are not seeing some sunshine in the
:00:19. > :00:22.UK, where else would we find it? It's been particularly nasty across
:00:23. > :00:25.Iberia, Italy, the Balkans, and that's all spreading its way across
:00:26. > :00:30.into the used in parts of Europe, so the Black Sea resorts, through
:00:31. > :00:33.Turkey and Greece, with warnings for potent thunderstorms with lightning
:00:34. > :00:36.and hailstorms as well. In contrast, it is a little quieter
:00:37. > :00:42.through Saturday across Italy and the Balkans, but we are picking up
:00:43. > :00:44.more showers and thunderstorms once again across Iberia, particularly
:00:45. > :00:49.the southern half of Portugal and Spain as well, and that shower risk
:00:50. > :00:56.is likely to continue throughout the weekend, but for Naples, fine and
:00:57. > :01:00.dry, relatively warm, temperatures into the midtwenties. Into France,
:01:01. > :01:04.along with the UK, sitting under the area of high pressure, but all the
:01:05. > :01:07.time at risk of pulling some of those showers up, particularly later
:01:08. > :01:11.in the weekend and early next week. Saturday is looking fine and
:01:12. > :01:16.relatively quiet with low cloud, mist and fog, and when that breaks,
:01:17. > :01:22.temperatures will rise nicely. We will need to keep an eye out on
:01:23. > :01:26.Sunday for those storms from Iberia northwards across other western
:01:27. > :01:31.parts of Europe. Storms, or really rather persistent, heavy rain,
:01:32. > :01:34.across parts of central and western USA, dampening down some of the
:01:35. > :01:37.wildfires but only touching the far north of California as they had
:01:38. > :01:43.across the Rockies and further eastwards into Saturday. Ahead of
:01:44. > :01:46.that, fine and dry towards the great Lakes, New York and Washington,
:01:47. > :01:49.staying fine and dry for the weekend, but the shower risk is
:01:50. > :01:54.still with us further south. For Atlanta and Miami, you may have seen
:01:55. > :01:58.those showers in Mexico, it's been particularly unsettled. It will be
:01:59. > :02:03.cooler behind that weather system in Seattle but still hot and dry for
:02:04. > :02:07.LA, so no sign of much-needed prolonged rains. Plenty of prolonged
:02:08. > :02:12.rains across north-eastern India with flash flooding, quite severe
:02:13. > :02:17.weather. As it does for the Western Ghats, which can be a popular
:02:18. > :02:20.destination, so at the moment the showery rains and monsoon is going
:02:21. > :02:24.towards goal and Mumbai, but dry towards the north at the moment.
:02:25. > :02:29.Keeping an eye on this tropical storm which may brush by Japan, may
:02:30. > :02:32.be influencing the weather in Tokyo, for example, with strong winds and
:02:33. > :02:38.rough conditions out at sea and heavy rains as well. We need to keep
:02:39. > :02:42.an eye out because we've had a few storms across Japan recently. In
:02:43. > :02:46.contrast, fine unsettled across many parts of Australia at the moment
:02:47. > :02:51.although some heavy rain moving towards New Zealand, rounding the
:02:52. > :02:54.Australian bike, bringing a drop in temperatures with showers and
:02:55. > :02:57.thunderstorms and some unsettled weather the Tasmania as well. In the
:02:58. > :03:01.UK, the weekend is looking quite settled along with the rest of
:03:02. > :03:07.north-west Europe. Some sunshine and warmth but some fog. Misty, low
:03:08. > :03:11.cloud and this weak weather fronts across southern parts of the UK on
:03:12. > :03:16.Friday will bring cloudy conditions, but after a wet and windy night
:03:17. > :03:19.after some parts of Scotland, it looks much drier and brighter
:03:20. > :03:24.through the day. Some drizzly showers across the south-west into
:03:25. > :03:29.the afternoon but it is warm air, so given some sunshine, 19-21 on the
:03:30. > :03:32.cards across the southern UK. Further north, more sunshine than
:03:33. > :03:37.during the day on Thursday, but not as warm because of the winds, the
:03:38. > :03:40.first autumnal gales blowing across Scotland, persisting into the first
:03:41. > :03:44.part of Friday, bringing hefty showers and a chill in the wind
:03:45. > :03:48.across the Highlands and the Scottish islands. Come Saturday, a
:03:49. > :03:52.similar setup with the winds easing in the north, but whether France
:03:53. > :03:56.will progress towards north-western Scotland and Northern Ireland and,
:03:57. > :03:59.in the south, stubborn fog. Some fog on Sunday morning but bringing in a
:04:00. > :04:00.southerly
