0:00:03 > 0:00:05There's plenty of rain in the forecast back home.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07You may be tempted to journey further afield

0:00:07 > 0:00:09in search of some warm sunshine.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12And if you're heading to the Med, you're probably in good luck,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14because despite the fact that over the last few weeks

0:00:14 > 0:00:17it's been very disturbed with some stormy weather,

0:00:17 > 0:00:19now things are settling down for the most part,

0:00:19 > 0:00:21with some very pleasant autumn sunshine

0:00:21 > 0:00:23for the likes of Turkey and Greece.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25Temperatures approaching 20 degrees.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29Similarly through the central Med, Italy, Sardinia, Corsica as well.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32A few showers towards the north coast of Africa.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35But out west, through the Balearics and into Spain and Portugal,

0:00:35 > 0:00:36again, very pleasant.

0:00:36 > 0:00:41And, well, 24 degrees in Seville is pretty good for the time of year.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43Light winds for the most part, too,

0:00:43 > 0:00:46and the generally fine and settled theme continues

0:00:46 > 0:00:49across many of our southern European and Mediterranean resorts

0:00:49 > 0:00:51as we go through the next few days.

0:00:51 > 0:00:56Heading further north, not just settled, but still remarkably mild.

0:00:56 > 0:01:00In fact, warm for Paris. 20 degrees on Saturday.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03And here, it should stay fine with broken cloud.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Back towards the UK, as I mentioned, there's some rain to come

0:01:05 > 0:01:08and that's the story through the Low Countries as well.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11A quite active frontal system pushing its way west to east.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13That unsettled but mild theme

0:01:13 > 0:01:16continues across many north-western parts of Europe.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18Still no sign of anything particularly cold

0:01:18 > 0:01:20on the horizon just yet.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24Now into North America, you'll notice a very sharp band of rain

0:01:24 > 0:01:28pushing down through the Midwest and through the Mid-Atlantic states.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30Warm ahead of that, but to the rear of that,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33up towards the Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes,

0:01:33 > 0:01:36some colder air flooding down from Canada.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38And, in fact, we will see a drop in temperature

0:01:38 > 0:01:40for the likes of New York and Washington

0:01:40 > 0:01:42as we go through this weekend.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44The rain clouds clear away, the sun comes out.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Some crisp sunshine on Sunday.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50Out west, it's more disturbed across the Pacific Northwest,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53in particular, with some wet weather at times through this weekend.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56But further south, down through California, for example in LA,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58the fine weather continues.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00A mixed bag across Australasia.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03Some showers out west affecting Perth at times.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06Some showers down across parts of South Australia.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08And also some showers across the Northern Territory.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12In fact, some downpours could well affect the cricket at The Gabba.

0:02:12 > 0:02:1429 degrees, so warm and humid,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17and temperatures will be on the rise, as we'll see in a moment.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Some showers down across Victoria.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21South Australian could catch one or two.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Now, temperatures across parts of Australia are feeling like summer.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Temperatures across New Zealand, well, more like spring at best

0:02:28 > 0:02:31for the likes of Christchurch and Wellington - just 13 degrees.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35But largely dry, though this weather front crossing the Tasman Sea

0:02:35 > 0:02:37will bring some wetter weather in due course.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Back to the UK.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Yes, some wet weather and some quite strong winds at times

0:02:42 > 0:02:44as we approach the weekend.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47This is the picture for Friday. Not very pretty, is it?

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Wet weather spreading across the country.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51It won't last all day, mind you.

0:02:51 > 0:02:52Following on behind,

0:02:52 > 0:02:56we will see brighter skies with some late sunshine, hopefully,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59just about getting into Cornwall, Pembrokeshire as well.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02But, of course, the sun sets so soon these days

0:03:02 > 0:03:04that it probably won't have a chance to brighten up

0:03:04 > 0:03:06before it gets dark again

0:03:06 > 0:03:08across other parts of the West Country and Wales.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Further west, still, though, for Northern Ireland,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12you should see some sunshine.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15A few sharp showers, mind you, as we close proceedings.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18The rain pushing its way across Scotland.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21One or two quite heavy bursts around, though, again,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24it should eventually clear away in time for evening time.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28And that's really the story down through the heart of England as well.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30We will see a span of rain pushing west to east.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33But if you've got a fireworks party planned, for example,

0:03:33 > 0:03:37as we head into the evening time, the rain should have cleared away

0:03:37 > 0:03:39and we should have broken cloud, I think, by then.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41Doesn't last, though. Here's Saturday's picture.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Yet more rain sweeping across the country.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46Some of that gets hooked up across Northern Ireland and Scotland.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49Could prove quite persistent here, but brighter further south.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Bright start on Sunday, perhaps some early fog patches,

0:03:52 > 0:03:54and then the next weather system comes in off the Atlantic.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56Yet more rain and some pretty strong winds,

0:03:56 > 0:04:00particularly across the more northern and western areas, but mild again.
