:00:00. > :00:11.Saudi Arabia breaks diplomatic ties with Iran over the storming

:00:12. > :00:15.The Saudi foreign minister says Iranian diplomats must leave

:00:16. > :00:24.within 48 hours, and Saudi diplomats in Iran have been evacuated.

:00:25. > :00:26.Hours earlier there were fresh protests in Tehran against

:00:27. > :00:28.Saudi Arabia's execution of a prominent Shia cleric -

:00:29. > :00:36.tensions are rising throughout the Middle East.

:00:37. > :00:38.IS militants release a video they say shows the killing of five

:00:39. > :00:46.men who were allegedly spying for the UK.

:00:47. > :00:49.Iraq said it had liberated the city a week ago,

:00:50. > :00:50.but Islamic State militants are holding out.

:00:51. > :00:52.Our correspondent enters the heart of the city.

:00:53. > :00:55.Their flags are still flying just a few hundred yards from here...

:00:56. > :01:06.And how the goat sent in as live prey for a tiger at a safari park

:01:07. > :01:08.has managed to stay alive by befriending his potential

:01:09. > :01:44.Saudi Arabia has broken diplomatic relations

:01:45. > :01:46.with Iran following a row over the execution by Riyadh

:01:47. > :01:48.of a prominent cleric from the Muslim Shia minority.

:01:49. > :01:50.The Saudi foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir said Riyadh would not

:01:51. > :01:52.allow Iran to undermine its security.

:01:53. > :01:54.He said Iranian diplomats must leave Saudi Arabia

:01:55. > :01:57.Saudi diplomats in Iran are being evacuated.

:01:58. > :01:59.The Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr and 46 others were executed on Saturday.

:02:00. > :02:01.They had been convicted of terrorism offences.

:02:02. > :02:03.Hadi Nili from the BBC Persian Service joins me

:02:04. > :02:12.How significant is this in terms of relations between Iran and Saudi

:02:13. > :02:20.Arabia. The huge setback, clearly? Relations between Saudi Arabia and

:02:21. > :02:28.Iran, it has not been a big surprise because even know relationships are

:02:29. > :02:32.not very strong -- the Foreign Minister in Iran said he was very

:02:33. > :02:39.hopeful they could improve their relations and maybe have some

:02:40. > :02:49.ambassadors very soon in Riyadh. But with this new update it is not a

:02:50. > :02:52.surprise with their relations. Considering that up until now they

:02:53. > :02:57.have not had a very good religion ship. You are right. Also, we have

:02:58. > :03:04.heard from Iran in the last few days -- good relationship. What do you

:03:05. > :03:13.think Iran will do next? It has also been a matter of domestic politics

:03:14. > :03:19.in recent days. Hardliners accuse governments and the reformers of

:03:20. > :03:23.being soft. They want harsher rhetoric, partial words from the

:03:24. > :03:27.government about Saudi Arabia. They also accuse some of the reformist

:03:28. > :03:35.figures of being backed by the Saudi government which is not something

:03:36. > :03:42.confirmed with any fact, but now having this execution in Saudi

:03:43. > :03:48.Arabia and the hardliners also criticising the president for being

:03:49. > :03:54.late, but the president today condemned the execution and also the

:03:55. > :03:59.raid, he called for a responsible behaviour and also persecuting those

:04:00. > :04:05.who broke into the embassy, to end this violence for a time, because

:04:06. > :04:11.Iran has a history of Reading embassies. After the revolution,

:04:12. > :04:16.there was the hostage crisis with the US and in 2011 hardliners

:04:17. > :04:22.attacked a UK compound in Tehran and now the Saudi embassy -- a history

:04:23. > :04:26.of raiding embassies. What have the Americans been saying and what do

:04:27. > :04:31.you expect their reaction to this to be? After the raid on the Saudi

:04:32. > :04:38.compound in Iran and US officials have been called for restraint and

:04:39. > :04:44.also warning about increasing tensions, sick hearing intentions in

:04:45. > :04:50.the region. They also called for, I mean, they call for the Saudi

:04:51. > :04:57.Government to respect human rights -- warning about sectarian tensions.

:04:58. > :05:02.They also are speaking about the legal process which led to the

:05:03. > :05:07.execution of a number of people including al-Nimr. Our BBC Perisher

:05:08. > :05:16.man in Washington, good to speak to you. -- BBC Persia.

:05:17. > :05:18.Earlier, the leader of the Lebanese Shia movement,

:05:19. > :05:20.Hezbollah, has launched a sharp verbal attack on the Saudis

:05:21. > :05:22.for executing the Shia Muslim cleric Nimr al-Nimr.

:05:23. > :05:24.In a television address, Hassan Nasrallah said the Saudis

:05:25. > :05:27.wished to ignite a civil war between Sunnis and Shias

:05:28. > :05:31.He urged Shias not to react in a way that he said played into the hands

:05:32. > :05:34.And demonstrators again took to the streets in Tehran,

:05:35. > :05:37.and there are reports of fresh protests at the Saudi

:05:38. > :05:48.There were also demonstrations in Indian administered Kashmir and

:05:49. > :05:51.Karachi in Pakistan. The decision to sever diplomatic ties with Iran,

:05:52. > :05:54.after -- comes after the storming of the Saudi embassy in Tehran last

:05:55. > :05:56.night. Kevin Connolly has been looking

:05:57. > :05:58.at this developing story. It is not clear if the crowds

:05:59. > :06:01.gathered at the Saudi embassy in Tehran were operating

:06:02. > :06:03.with official encouragement. They reportedly chanted,

:06:04. > :06:05."death to the al-Sauds," the ruling They threw stones and petrol

:06:06. > :06:13.bombs at the building, Some broke into the compound

:06:14. > :06:16.and threw papers from the roof before

:06:17. > :06:18.they were removed by the police. Iran has said that Saudi

:06:19. > :06:21.Arabia will pay a heavy price for the execution of Nimr

:06:22. > :06:23.al-Nimr but the country's supreme leader, warning that what he called

:06:24. > :06:26.divine vengeance would befall TRANSLATION: This is really

:06:27. > :06:35.a crime, a big crime. It is also a mistake

:06:36. > :06:38.because his blood will catch up with Saudi Arabia,

:06:39. > :06:41.without any doubt. The politicians, executives

:06:42. > :06:43.and policy-makers of the Saudi government should have

:06:44. > :06:44.no doubt this blood will catch up with them and it

:06:45. > :06:53.will give them hell. Almighty God will not ignore

:06:54. > :06:55.the blood of the innocent. Saudi Arabia, the leading

:06:56. > :06:57.figure of Sunni Islam, will have expected an angry

:06:58. > :07:03.reaction in the Shia world, like by Iran for the execution

:07:04. > :07:06.of such a significant figure, but it is hard to project

:07:07. > :07:09.how long and how intense The Islamic State militant group has

:07:10. > :07:26.released a video that shows the killing of five men

:07:27. > :07:29.who are accused of having The five are filmed making

:07:30. > :07:32.statements that are presented Addressing the camera,

:07:33. > :07:35.a masked militant - who appears to have a British accent

:07:36. > :07:38.- makes threats towards the UK and the Prime Minister David Cameron

:07:39. > :07:47.before the alleged spies are shot. Our security correspondent

:07:48. > :07:49.Gordon Corera says it's the latest in a series of videos

:07:50. > :07:52.the group has been posting, Two things make this

:07:53. > :07:56.video stand out. One is that you will remember

:07:57. > :07:58.Jihadi John, Mohammed Emwazi, who was killed in a drone strike

:07:59. > :08:01.a couple of months ago. Well, now in this

:08:02. > :08:03.video we have this new individual, who appears

:08:04. > :08:06.to want to take up the mantle of Jihadi John as executioner

:08:07. > :08:09.and propagandist in chief when it The authorities no doubt

:08:10. > :08:13.will be investigating. Tonight the Foreign Office

:08:14. > :08:16.are saying they are aware They will be trying to work

:08:17. > :08:19.out exactly who he is. The second notable feature is,

:08:20. > :08:22.quite chillingly, at the very end of the video there is

:08:23. > :08:24.just a short section of a child, perhaps about five years

:08:25. > :08:30.old, talking very briefly, apparently again

:08:31. > :08:33.in a British accent. We do know that some families have

:08:34. > :08:36.taken children out to Syria and so no doubt the authorities

:08:37. > :08:39.will also be trying to identify that child featured at

:08:40. > :08:41.the end of the video. The Iraqi city of Ramadi

:08:42. > :08:44.was declared to have been liberated a week ago, but fighting

:08:45. > :08:46.between the Iraqi army and Islamic State

:08:47. > :08:48.militants there continues. Government forces say

:08:49. > :08:50.they are gradually overcoming The army says about 200 militants

:08:51. > :08:56.are still holding out. But counterattacks were being

:08:57. > :08:58.repelled with the help of air-strikes by

:08:59. > :09:03.the US-led coalition. The city had been occupied

:09:04. > :09:06.by Islamic State since May. The BBC's Thomas Fessy travelled

:09:07. > :09:08.into the heart of the city This is what the fight

:09:09. > :09:15.against Islamic State has Six months of brutal Jihadi rule,

:09:16. > :09:18.a government offensive and coalition air strikes

:09:19. > :09:20.have devastated the city. We set off with the Iraqi

:09:21. > :09:23.special forces to see what the victory they claimed

:09:24. > :09:25.a week ago looks like. As we push into the centre,

:09:26. > :09:28.it is clear that the This is the front line

:09:29. > :09:50.in Iraq's war against IS. The soldiers say that they have

:09:51. > :09:53.regained much of the city, but the fight is still going

:09:54. > :09:56.on and IS militants still control Their flags are still

:09:57. > :09:59.flying just a few hundred Peer through the sniper's

:10:00. > :10:12.window and you can see But look to the right -

:10:13. > :10:23.you can see the black banners The West has trained Iraqi

:10:24. > :10:27.soldiers for this fight. The US, Britain and their partners

:10:28. > :10:29.are conducting air strikes An air strike is called

:10:30. > :10:45.in as families emerge The support from coalition forces is

:10:46. > :10:45.important to us because without them there would be a lot more civilian

:10:46. > :10:49.casualties. Iraqi troops are taking

:10:50. > :10:55.them to safety. that she and her

:10:56. > :11:00.husband were taken by Each time there was

:11:01. > :11:07.bombing, our homes shook. We had no food, no bread,

:11:08. > :11:09.no water and we were A warm meal and a first

:11:10. > :11:29.taste of freedom. These families will soon be taken to

:11:30. > :11:30.a nearby camp, joining the tens of thousands who have fled Islamic

:11:31. > :11:32.State. This woman escaped with her

:11:33. > :11:34.children, still traumatised. Their mother tells me how

:11:35. > :11:36.IS ruled their lives. We were not allowed outside

:11:37. > :11:45.without a man and we were forced We were not even allowed

:11:46. > :11:53.to use mobile phones. The war against Islamic State

:11:54. > :11:55.in Iraq is not ending - There will be more destruction

:11:56. > :12:00.and more families to save. We speak to two wing-suit

:12:01. > :12:09.enthusiasts about what pushes them First, the Government's pledged

:12:10. > :12:22.an extra ?40 million for flood defences in Yorkshire,

:12:23. > :12:24.after it was battered by storms over But drainage experts have warned

:12:25. > :12:28.that the number of homes at risk of flooding nationwide could almost

:12:29. > :12:30.double within 20 years, unless there's a significant

:12:31. > :12:33.increase in spending. Tonight, flood defences

:12:34. > :12:36.are being bolstered in Ballater, in Aberdeenshire and our

:12:37. > :12:38.correspondent Catrina Renton More in a preparation for the worst

:12:39. > :12:46.and a hope for the best coming from the council,

:12:47. > :12:48.the emergency services and the electric companies

:12:49. > :12:50.that have been working This defence over here has

:12:51. > :12:56.not been tested yet. There are 800 sandbags

:12:57. > :12:58.there, each of them containing a tonne of sand,

:12:59. > :13:01.and I hope they will be able to hold back the River Dee

:13:02. > :13:03.should she burst her banks again which she did last

:13:04. > :13:06.Wednesday night when Storm Frank was at its very peak,

:13:07. > :13:08.and it came over, burst the banks, came through the golf

:13:09. > :13:10.course over there, right into the village,

:13:11. > :13:12.flooding around 200 homes There's been fresh protests

:13:13. > :13:34.in Tehran against Saudi Arabia's execution of a prominent Shia

:13:35. > :13:37.cleric, but Iran's president has condemned attacks on Saudi

:13:38. > :13:38.diplomatic missions. Islamic State militants have

:13:39. > :13:41.released a video they say shows the killing of five men

:13:42. > :13:43.who were allegedly spying The Indian prime minister,

:13:44. > :13:52.Narendra Modi, is chairing a high-level security meeting

:13:53. > :13:54.in Delhi to discuss a militant attack

:13:55. > :13:56.on an airbase in the north of the country that

:13:57. > :13:58.began on Saturday. It is unclear whether all

:13:59. > :14:00.the attackers who managed to enter the base in Pathankot

:14:01. > :14:02.have been killed. The BBC's Nitin Shrivastav

:14:03. > :14:04.reports from Pathankot. We are standing at the checkpoint

:14:05. > :14:07.that leads up to the Indian air force base that was attacked

:14:08. > :14:10.by militants in the early It is very unusual for residents

:14:11. > :14:17.of this town, which is not very far from the Pakistan border,

:14:18. > :14:19.to witness such heavy security They have seen heavily

:14:20. > :14:24.armed military vehicles going in and going

:14:25. > :14:33.out of the airbase. There are also reports of fresh

:14:34. > :14:35.gunshots and blasts which have Although the Indian government has

:14:36. > :14:38.been applauding the efforts of the security forces

:14:39. > :14:40.in containing the attack, fresh questions are being raised

:14:41. > :14:42.on why, despite intelligence inputs, the loss of

:14:43. > :14:56.lives was not avoided. Israeli prosecutors have charged two

:14:57. > :14:59.Jewish citizens in connection with an arson attack last summer

:15:00. > :15:01.that killed three members of a Palestinian family

:15:02. > :15:03.in the occupied West Bank. One adult has been

:15:04. > :15:05.charged with murder. A second person is accused

:15:06. > :15:08.of being an accessory to murder. Saad and Riham Dawabsha were killed

:15:09. > :15:10.along with their 18-month-old China has defended its decision

:15:11. > :15:20.to conduct a test flight to an airstrip that it's recently

:15:21. > :15:22.finished building on a contested Beijing said it had sent a civilian

:15:23. > :15:27.plane to the site to The airstrip is in an area

:15:28. > :15:32.claimed by Vietnam. Ten spectators have been injured

:15:33. > :15:35.in a preliminary stage of the famous Dakar Rally, being

:15:36. > :15:39.held in Argentina. A Chinese driver in a Mini

:15:40. > :15:42.veered off the course A ten-year-old boy and his father

:15:43. > :15:45.are being treated in hospital The rally, which used to be

:15:46. > :15:49.from Paris to Dakar in Senegal, has been held in South America

:15:50. > :15:54.since 2009 following security Armed protesters have seized

:15:55. > :15:59.a federal wildlife building in a remote part

:16:00. > :16:01.of the United States and are urging militia groups

:16:02. > :16:03.from across the country They're angry at the authorities'

:16:04. > :16:09.treatment of two ranchers convicted of arson for lighting fires

:16:10. > :16:11.in a protected area of Oregon. They have refused to rule out

:16:12. > :16:14.the use of violence if they're It is the people's facility,

:16:15. > :16:18.owned by the people, and it has been provided

:16:19. > :16:21.for us to be able to come together and unite, making a hard

:16:22. > :16:23.stand against this overreach, this taking of the people's

:16:24. > :16:34.land and resources. The US Republican presidential

:16:35. > :16:36.candidate, Donald Trump, has again defended his call

:16:37. > :16:39.for a ban on Muslims entering the United States after it was used

:16:40. > :16:42.in a propaganda video by the Somali On Sunday news shows,

:16:43. > :16:51.Trump said it's no surprise America's enemies would exploit

:16:52. > :16:53.comments of a presidential We are funding all of these people

:16:54. > :16:59.that they want to bring in from Syria, we are

:17:00. > :17:01.funding visa programmes. Which, by the way,

:17:02. > :17:06.we have no idea who they are, where they came

:17:07. > :17:08.from, and they're young and they are strong,

:17:09. > :17:21.and there are a lot of men... John Watson has all the latest

:17:22. > :17:22.sports News. Thank you very much indeed.

:17:23. > :17:25.It's been an incredible day in the second Test between England

:17:26. > :17:29.England all-rounder Ben Stokes completed the fastest double hundred

:17:30. > :17:31.in English Test history as he and Jonny Bairstow put

:17:32. > :17:33.on the biggest partnership for his side

:17:34. > :17:37.Stokes's double century coming in 163 balls -

:17:38. > :17:40.130 runs came the first session - that's the most scored before lunch

:17:41. > :17:43.And it was a great day for Bairstow, too.

:17:44. > :17:46.He was unbeaten on 150 when England finally declared before

:17:47. > :17:50.South Africa lost two wickets - one off

:17:51. > :17:58.the bowling of Stokes - and closed on 141.

:17:59. > :18:04.the bowling of Stokes - and closed on 141-2.

:18:05. > :18:11.The way I played after the second new ball was to set the whole thing

:18:12. > :18:16.up. And then just carried on this morning. We were in a good position

:18:17. > :18:19.before the first ball was bowled so I thought we already had enough runs

:18:20. > :18:25.on it anyway. Then another five wickets to come, with a good

:18:26. > :18:27.tailback line-up that we have. It was just a case of everything going

:18:28. > :18:30.my way. The Premier League champions Chelsea

:18:31. > :18:32.showed signs of a return to form under new manager Guus Hiddink

:18:33. > :18:38.as they won 3-0 at Crystal Palace Oscar opened the scoring

:18:39. > :18:39.in the first-half. A brilliant solo effort from Willian

:18:40. > :18:44.then made it 2-0 midway back from suspension -

:18:45. > :18:46.made it three for the Blues. Chelsea are still 13 points off

:18:47. > :18:51.the Champions League spots, but perhaps showing signs

:18:52. > :19:03.of the team that won Everyone knows that there is a lot

:19:04. > :19:07.of quality, but sometimes I team who has just become champion has a

:19:08. > :19:13.tendency to be complacent, and then it is difficult, and we have to get

:19:14. > :19:16.back and wonder why we were champions, why the team were

:19:17. > :19:21.champions. Trying to emphasise on that, everyone got a bit two steps

:19:22. > :19:26.back to make three steps forward... Everton and Tottenham drew 1-1

:19:27. > :19:29.in the late Premier League game. It means Tottenham's

:19:30. > :19:31.impressive form continues - they've only lost twice

:19:32. > :19:33.in the league this season. It was a former Spurs

:19:34. > :19:35.player that had them Arron Lennon opening the scoring

:19:36. > :19:39.with a great strike in the first half as Everton went ahead,

:19:40. > :19:42.only for Delle Alli to equalise Spurs stay fourth, although the gap

:19:43. > :19:47.in that final Champions League spot One of the best 45 minutes we have

:19:48. > :20:04.played so forth. -- so far. OK, in the second half -

:20:05. > :20:18.last 15 minutes maybe Everton got a little bit

:20:19. > :20:19.of the game. We need to feel proud

:20:20. > :20:22.for our players and keep working. We have a really good

:20:23. > :20:31.defensive concentration. We have a really good defensive

:20:32. > :20:42.intensity and great concentration. It was hard to take.

:20:43. > :20:57.from Harry Kane and the corner The moment we conceded

:20:58. > :21:03.was before half-time. The way we reacted

:21:04. > :21:10.in the second half we wanted to play

:21:11. > :21:12.in a different manner that was needed at that point.

:21:13. > :21:16.It was a real display of security. Amur the Siberian tiger and Timur

:21:17. > :21:21.the goat first met when one was released into the other's

:21:22. > :21:23.enclosure as live prey. That was more than a month ago,

:21:24. > :21:26.and despite the odds, the goat is still alive,

:21:27. > :21:28.and the two animals are - apparently - living

:21:29. > :21:32.in perfect harmony. TRANSLATION: For three years,

:21:33. > :21:40.Amur would eat live goats, sheep and rabbits twice a week,

:21:41. > :21:43.so we gave him a goat as usual But when we came back,

:21:44. > :21:50.the goat was inside the tiger's shelter and Amur was up

:21:51. > :21:59.on top - he was hungry. But in four days with the goat,

:22:00. > :22:02.he did not eat him. So we said, OK, this

:22:03. > :22:06.is Timur the Brave. And the two have been living,

:22:07. > :22:08.playing and sleeping side by side, Timur the goat has four shelters,

:22:09. > :22:25.but at night he sleeps If he leaves, Amur roars

:22:26. > :22:32.and calls him back. Timur comes and the

:22:33. > :22:39.tiger calms down. If he wants, the tiger

:22:40. > :22:43.could eat Timur in seconds. It's friendship.

:22:44. > :22:53.him a million times. The goat shows his character,

:22:54. > :22:56.his braveness, and the tiger said, OK, I respect that,

:22:57. > :23:09.let's be friends. This is hunter and prey living

:23:10. > :23:14.together in peace and happiness. We humans fight, kill

:23:15. > :23:18.and trick one another. But look at this, it is

:23:19. > :23:29.an example for humanity. For now, there is no

:23:30. > :23:32.reason to separate them. If the situation changes,

:23:33. > :23:34.we can decide, but this is not just We still feed Amur live prey twice

:23:35. > :23:48.a week, but we don't give him goats any more,

:23:49. > :23:58.out of respect for Timur. Jumping off the side of a cliff

:23:59. > :24:03.wearing nothing but a winged suit may not sound like everyone's idea

:24:04. > :24:06.of fun, but it's an increasingly It goes without saying that it can

:24:07. > :24:11.be dangerous indeed, but these

:24:12. > :24:12.wingsuit enthusiasts insist Wingsuit base jumping is a sport

:24:13. > :24:25.of jumping off a cliff on top of a mountain wearing a suit

:24:26. > :24:28.with wings on it and once we jump off, it inflates and we are able

:24:29. > :24:31.to fly down the mountain and land We have the same curvature and top

:24:32. > :24:41.surface camber and all the design features you would find it a normal

:24:42. > :24:49.aeroplane wing scaled down When we jump from the cliff,

:24:50. > :24:52.you can see the air start It creates that duel

:24:53. > :25:02.surface wing and off we go. It is basically a ram

:25:03. > :25:05.air wing design. Wingsuit base jumping definitely

:25:06. > :25:08.looks dangerous, but what you don't see when you look at it is all

:25:09. > :25:11.the training and preparation People don't just arrive at the edge

:25:12. > :25:15.of the cliff and jump off There are years of training

:25:16. > :25:25.in a skydiving environment. Learning to fly parachutes and to

:25:26. > :25:30.fly without your body in freefall. And finally learning to fly

:25:31. > :25:33.the wingsuit and bringing all those The number of jumps completed

:25:34. > :25:37.safely is astounding. There are several thousand people

:25:38. > :25:40.around the world who jump regularly, And, yeah, people do up to hundreds
