:00:00. > :00:20.This is BBC News. I'm Gavin Grey.

:00:21. > :00:28.At least 16 people are feared dead as a hot air balloon catches fire.

:00:29. > :00:32.It sounded like a gun going off. I looked up over there and the next

:00:33. > :00:40.thing I knew, we saw a big fireball going off. Russia claims dozens of

:00:41. > :00:45.families have left Aleppo. Florida insists it is still safe for

:00:46. > :00:52.tourists after the first confirmed cases of Zika virus locally.

:00:53. > :00:55.England's ban on plastic bags sees drop but Walker -- what more can we

:00:56. > :01:12.do? Hello and welcome. Investigators say

:01:13. > :01:17.it is unlikely there were any survivors after a hot-air balloon

:01:18. > :01:26.carrying at least 16 police pull crashed and caught fire. It came

:01:27. > :01:33.down early on Saturday around 60 kilometres south of Austen.

:01:34. > :01:38.From clear skies above the Texas plains, the horror had unfolded in

:01:39. > :01:42.seconds. Such was the intensity of the explosion and fire which

:01:43. > :01:47.engulfed the balloon basket, there was little left of the crash scene.

:01:48. > :01:52.Two of the balloons gas cylinders were still visible on the black and

:01:53. > :01:57.past year. Emergency services were called by a witness who heard the

:01:58. > :02:02.initial explosion. I stepped out on the porch, I heard one pop before I

:02:03. > :02:06.stepped out and then I heard another pop and I looked around to see who

:02:07. > :02:11.was shooting occurs it sounded like a gun going off, and I looked up

:02:12. > :02:18.over there, and I saw a big fireball going up. It was just praying that

:02:19. > :02:25.whoever was there got away in time. The balloon thought to be operated

:02:26. > :02:29.by the balloon company was believed to be carrying an organised tour

:02:30. > :02:35.group. Although it came down beneath power lines, it was unclear whether

:02:36. > :02:44.it had developed a problem at high altitude. It is like a crime scene,

:02:45. > :02:50.you only get one chance, we want to make sure we do everything

:02:51. > :02:54.correctly. Thanks to all the agencies behind me, we have been

:02:55. > :02:59.able to start on the right foot. Leaves are trying to establish the

:03:00. > :03:04.identities of those who died. This will bring fresh calls to tighten

:03:05. > :03:10.regulations covering more than 100 US operators.

:03:11. > :03:13.US officials insist it is still safe to visit Florida, despite the state

:03:14. > :03:19.becoming the first in the US mainland to confirm cases of the

:03:20. > :03:23.Zika virus. The British government has advised pregnant women to

:03:24. > :03:34.consider postponing any non-essential trips to the state.

:03:35. > :03:41.Not that nothing is known as the sunshine state. Miami's beaches are

:03:42. > :03:44.a magnet for British tourists. Now, pregnant women are being urged to

:03:45. > :03:50.reconsider their travel plans, all because of mosque eaters carrying

:03:51. > :03:54.the Zika virus which has been linked to severe rain defects in newborns.

:03:55. > :04:03.Florida has become the first state in the US to con firm cases.

:04:04. > :04:08.Previous cases have been largely confined to people who caught the

:04:09. > :04:12.virus abroad. Now that Florida has been the first day to have a local

:04:13. > :04:17.transmission, we will continue to put every resource available to

:04:18. > :04:23.fight the care in our state. Experts described the risk to British

:04:24. > :04:28.holiday-makers as medium. They haven't advised not to go. This is a

:04:29. > :04:32.very limited outbreak, we are talking about Florida, not the rest

:04:33. > :04:37.of the USA. They will have to speak to their travel health adviser,

:04:38. > :04:42.their GP or the travel clinic they go to. The World Health Organisation

:04:43. > :04:45.has described the Zika virus is a global public-health emergency and

:04:46. > :04:50.whilst officials here aren't expecting a widespread outbreak of

:04:51. > :04:56.the disease, they are gearing up to combat small clusters of cases. The

:04:57. > :05:01.Zika virus has particularly affected Brazil where the Olympics get under

:05:02. > :05:04.way in just six days' time. Top stars, including golf's quarry

:05:05. > :05:11.Michael Roy are staying away because of the risk. -- Rory McIlroy. None

:05:12. > :05:17.of the cases has been admitted to hospital but with no vaccine on

:05:18. > :05:30.treatment, the emphasis and the stage is caution.

:05:31. > :05:33.Russia says citizens have left Aleppo after humanitarian corridors

:05:34. > :05:39.were opened but opposition activists have denied that claims. 300,000

:05:40. > :05:43.people are trapped in the east of Aleppo. Russia announced it would

:05:44. > :05:50.allow civilians and rebel fighters to leave parts of the city.

:05:51. > :05:54.These are people leaving rebel-held parts of Aleppo, according to

:05:55. > :06:00.serious state television. It claims they are using safe passages opened

:06:01. > :06:04.by the government. We are relaxed now because we are under the

:06:05. > :06:09.protection of the Army, may God protect them. We suffered a lot in

:06:10. > :06:14.order to be able to come here. On Thursday, leaflets had been dropped

:06:15. > :06:18.in Aleppo showing maps of the humanitarian corridors that would be

:06:19. > :06:21.opened with support from Russia. Three exit routes for civilians and

:06:22. > :06:27.a fourfold rebel fighters who want a way out. Russia claims that along

:06:28. > :06:35.with civilians, nearly 70 rebel fighters have also come out. Syrian

:06:36. > :06:38.TV says these are some of them. But opposition activists have called it

:06:39. > :06:44.all a lie. They have released this video which they claim is from the

:06:45. > :06:50.same area in which the state says a humanitarian corridor has been

:06:51. > :06:54.opened. This is not true. The regime is making false propaganda. This

:06:55. > :06:58.street has been closed for more than five years and the destruction you

:06:59. > :07:05.can see those not allow anyone to get out. Civilians are not. Cars

:07:06. > :07:09.cannot move anywhere around. Aleppo is a battle ground between

:07:10. > :07:14.government led forces and rebel groups. For four years, it has seen

:07:15. > :07:20.bombs and bloodshed. It is a big price for either side. But with no

:07:21. > :07:23.food supplies going into rebel-held parts of the city, for a quarter of

:07:24. > :07:31.a million people who live there, each day is a struggle.

:07:32. > :07:34.And you can keep up-to-date with all the latest news on the Syrian

:07:35. > :07:39.conflict including expert analysis on why the city of Aleppo is on the

:07:40. > :07:46.brink of a humanitarian crisis, go to our website. Or download the BBC

:07:47. > :07:50.News app. Let's look at Moscow stories this

:07:51. > :07:54.hour. Police in Belgium have charged one of two brothers arrested on

:07:55. > :07:58.suspicion of planning a terror attack in the country. The two men

:07:59. > :08:05.were arrested after raids on seven houses. The 33-year-old is accused

:08:06. > :08:10.of attempting to commit a terrorist murder and participation in the

:08:11. > :08:15.activities of a terrorist organisation. His brother has been

:08:16. > :08:19.released without charge. The Army in Turkey says they have

:08:20. > :08:24.killed 35 people who tried to storm and Army base. The Turkish monetary

:08:25. > :08:28.is battling an insurgency in the region since the breakdown of the

:08:29. > :08:34.ceasefire between the Turkish army and the outlawed PKK a year ago.

:08:35. > :08:42.Officials in Armenia say a police officer has been shot set out in a

:08:43. > :08:46.stand-off. The policeman is the second law enforcement officer to

:08:47. > :08:50.die since the group of armed men do police station almost two weeks ago.

:08:51. > :08:59.The group are demanding the release of jailed opposition leader.

:09:00. > :09:05.Let's return to one of our main stories on the Zika outbreak in

:09:06. > :09:14.Florida. We can speak to an assistant professor of paediatrics.

:09:15. > :09:21.Any -- he has produced Kiwi search on the Zika virus. Thank you for

:09:22. > :09:24.joining us. We are hearing advice from Florida, St people can travel

:09:25. > :09:30.there. The British government is telling pregnant women to not go.

:09:31. > :09:37.What is the correct advice? Watch people do? I think we should look at

:09:38. > :09:44.the situation. In the past week there were cases of what is believed

:09:45. > :09:49.to be local transmission. These four individuals have not travelled to

:09:50. > :09:53.foreign areas that were endemic with Zika virus, nor had they contracted

:09:54. > :09:59.it with sexual contact. We believe there may be mosquitoes carrying the

:10:00. > :10:06.mosque -- the Zika virus in North Miami. Local officials are currently

:10:07. > :10:10.examining the area to try to find mosquitoes that harbour the Zika

:10:11. > :10:17.virus. Until that has been con firmed, it is not known whether it

:10:18. > :10:23.is prevalent within this area. Nonetheless, individuals should take

:10:24. > :10:27.precautions when they do travel to Florida or areas. Until there is

:10:28. > :10:31.confirmation of proved Zika transition within the local area,

:10:32. > :10:37.people should nonetheless still take precautionary measures. I would

:10:38. > :10:42.imagine that a lot of women and men who are either looking to have

:10:43. > :10:46.children or women who are pregnant, they will say, I'm not going to take

:10:47. > :10:49.the risk. And that is certainly a good precautionary measure to take.

:10:50. > :10:56.There are two particular groups that you highlighted, pregnant women and

:10:57. > :11:03.men and women thinking about pregnancy. If they do travel to

:11:04. > :11:08.these areas, the CDC, as well as the Florida government health agencies

:11:09. > :11:13.have recommended they wear long sleeves and use mosquito repellent

:11:14. > :11:20.and add avoid areas where there are high areas of mosquito prevalence.

:11:21. > :11:24.They have found these local mosquitoes that are carrying the

:11:25. > :11:28.virus in Florida, is there a chance this could spread? Could the

:11:29. > :11:34.mosquitoes travelled to other states? How widespread the crisis

:11:35. > :11:39.become? Currently, the mosque eater that is transmitting the virus, it

:11:40. > :11:43.is found in small areas, and small pockets certainly within the

:11:44. > :11:50.Southeast United dates. The other mosquito has not been shown to

:11:51. > :11:55.transmit Zika virus, that is the more aggressive basket as species in

:11:56. > :12:00.the south-east United States. It certainly has the possible at each

:12:01. > :12:03.spreading and certainly the CDC are anticipating additional cases to

:12:04. > :12:10.occur in the 90s states in the next coming weeks. Thank you very much

:12:11. > :12:15.for your time. Details there, as you see it on the Zika virus.

:12:16. > :12:24.Stay with us, still to come, we will from the US PGA tempi and ship --

:12:25. > :12:25.championship, where there is no play at the moment because of the threat

:12:26. > :13:38.of lightning. This is BBC World News Today. The

:13:39. > :13:43.latest headlines. Up to 16 people are feared dead after a large

:13:44. > :13:48.hot-air balloon caught fire and crashed in Texas.

:13:49. > :13:51.The Syrian government says dozens of families have left Aleppo through a

:13:52. > :13:56.safe corridor opened by the government.

:13:57. > :13:59.Rallies have been held in cities across Australia following

:14:00. > :14:04.allegations that boys in juvenile detention centres were abused. Many

:14:05. > :14:06.of them aboriginal children. Protesters gathered to express their

:14:07. > :14:08.shock at TV footage which appeared to show children being

:14:09. > :14:16.mistreated. Demonstrators around Australia said

:14:17. > :14:18.the treatment of young detainees in the Northern Territory

:14:19. > :14:20.shamed the nation. In Sydney, protesters insisted

:14:21. > :14:23.they had little faith the royal commission would change what they've

:14:24. > :14:25.described as a juvenile justice system that was inherently

:14:26. > :14:31.oppressive to aboriginal people. This is one of the most brutal,

:14:32. > :14:38.racist attacks on our young people that we have seen in the recent

:14:39. > :14:42.history of this country. This week, a TV documentary showed

:14:43. > :14:57.a 13-year-old boy held in isolation The same detainee is also tied

:14:58. > :15:04.to a mechanical restraint chair A group of teenagers is then

:15:05. > :15:12.seen to be tear-gassed Activists want the royal commission

:15:13. > :15:17.to investigate juvenile detention I'm going to tell

:15:18. > :15:23.you this right now. If you want to call this a country

:15:24. > :15:27.to live in, stop this now. Demand that all institutions

:15:28. > :15:41.holding our children be But the Australian Prime Minister,

:15:42. > :15:47.Malcolm Turnbull, has rejected calls for the royal commission

:15:48. > :15:51.to have a broader national mandate. He's also brushed aside criticism

:15:52. > :15:55.that he didn't consult with the indigenous leaders

:15:56. > :15:59.on the terms of reference for the inquiry, which he believes

:16:00. > :16:03.will be effective. Aboriginal people make up about 3%

:16:04. > :16:07.of Australia's population, but they make up more than a quarter

:16:08. > :16:11.of those in prison and 94% of juvenile inmates

:16:12. > :16:40.in the Northern Territory. The Pope has urged those to pray for

:16:41. > :16:46.those suffering in Syria. The prayer vigil is part of a five-day visit

:16:47. > :16:48.the Pope is making to Poland to mark the anniversary of the country's

:16:49. > :17:01.adoption of Christianity. Possibly a million, maybe even 3

:17:02. > :17:05.million people over the course of the next few hours into tomorrow

:17:06. > :17:09.heading in this direction, crack off behind us, into the distance as a

:17:10. > :17:12.large field and Pope Francis will hold a vigil there this evening and

:17:13. > :17:19.a huge mass with the biggest crowd tomorrow. Once the preview, a line

:17:20. > :17:23.possibly coming out of his speech this evening, Pope Francis is going

:17:24. > :17:28.to call on young people to watch the TV less, go on the internet less,

:17:29. > :17:34.and go out in their communities to do good in the world. The real

:17:35. > :17:39.message of this festival is of mercy in the face of suffering. These are

:17:40. > :17:47.young Catholics from all over the world. It is a truly international

:17:48. > :17:50.festival, a real celebration, and, obviously, Pope Francis doesn't shy

:17:51. > :17:56.away from controversy. He will tackle issues like the migrant

:17:57. > :18:03.crisis and extremism, he says the world is at war, but not a religious

:18:04. > :18:17.war. An absolutely huge mass will be held on Sunday.

:18:18. > :18:28.Plastic bag use has cropped. Users have to pay 5p. Over half a billion

:18:29. > :18:34.bags were used in the first six months after the charge was

:18:35. > :18:39.introduced, a drop of around 80%. Earlier this month, France as

:18:40. > :18:44.Morocco also introduced plastic bag bans. Every year, 220 million tonnes

:18:45. > :18:52.of plastic produced globally. For every plastic bag produced, it takes

:18:53. > :19:01.up to 150 years to disintegrate. Rustic bag causes the death of

:19:02. > :19:04.marine mammals and sea birds. Earlier, we spoke to someone from

:19:05. > :19:05.the organisation of plastic change and he explained

:19:06. > :19:16.more about how plastic damages our environment. It is staggering

:19:17. > :19:21.effects that we see on marine wildlife but also, we can take the

:19:22. > :19:29.problem home to ourselves and our plates on the dining table because

:19:30. > :19:37.what we know is that plastic is ending on the consumers table and

:19:38. > :19:44.being a part of our food. It is definitely quite a challenge for us

:19:45. > :19:48.in the future to be able to create a sustainable way of living with

:19:49. > :19:56.plastics in the future and the levy, the charge that we see in rustic

:19:57. > :19:59.bags is, as I see, the first step as we start to control and create a

:20:00. > :20:06.system that we can actually control the way that we use plastic in our

:20:07. > :20:10.everyday lives. We really have to, as consumers, ask our politicians

:20:11. > :20:18.and industry to create a sustainable way of living. It can be that we

:20:19. > :20:23.need a plastic super pipe with a deposit on it so that we can reuse

:20:24. > :20:31.it. With renewable energy in a closed loop system, it can be that

:20:32. > :20:35.plastic is also a part of the future, but we just have lost

:20:36. > :20:41.control, we haven't created the system that can control it. So we

:20:42. > :20:49.need to start thinking and use those levies, use that money that has

:20:50. > :20:53.created by these fees in a clever way to create more innovation around

:20:54. > :21:05.how to control plastic in the future in the way that we live with it.

:21:06. > :21:11.Let's go to Tim Hague for all the sport.

:21:12. > :21:14.At the final men's major of the year, the PGA championship, the

:21:15. > :21:20.leaders, Jimmy Walker and Robert strap up on nine under par. There

:21:21. > :21:24.were due to tee off half an hour ago but the threat of lightning has seen

:21:25. > :21:27.play suspended. Here is how the leaderboard looked when they went.

:21:28. > :21:47.-- went off. The Thailand player holds a two shot

:21:48. > :21:53.lead after a third-round score of 66. She didn't drop a shop all day

:21:54. > :22:04.and made six birdies. She scored 19 under par.

:22:05. > :22:21.-- that type player -- the player from Thailand, Jutanugarn.

:22:22. > :22:27.For the second week running, Lewis Hamilton will line up behind Nico

:22:28. > :22:36.Rosberg, the German claimed pole and victory will see him retain the lead

:22:37. > :22:43.in the title race. Plenty of football friendlies,

:22:44. > :22:45.Celtic were beaten 3-1 by Barcelona. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were

:22:46. > :23:05.playing. Chelsea are playing Real Madrid in

:23:06. > :23:11.America right now. It is 3-0 about 15 minutes into the second half.

:23:12. > :23:20.Carl Frampton will put his unbeaten record on the line against Leo Santa

:23:21. > :23:26.Cruz tomorrow. He is confident his boxing will do the talking.

:23:27. > :23:33.Historically, Madison Square Garden was always the home of big-time

:23:34. > :23:41.boxing in this fight Man City. Now, the top fights take place at the

:23:42. > :23:46.Berkeley Centre in Brooklyn. You don't seem to be feeling any

:23:47. > :23:50.pressure. There is no pressure on me, all the pressure is on this guy.

:23:51. > :23:58.He's the one that the have as favourite. I know I'm going to upset

:23:59. > :24:04.then all. I'm feeling super-confident. I've made the wait,

:24:05. > :24:09.I'm full of energy and they are going to see the best performance.

:24:10. > :24:16.How could this fight changed your life? It could make me a superstar.

:24:17. > :24:24.I want to be known, I want to be remembered for a long time. He has a

:24:25. > :24:32.lot of support here, a lot of people will watch me. People will come here

:24:33. > :24:39.and there will be a great atmosphere and I think this fight will pull a

:24:40. > :24:42.lot of fans. Russia will appeal the decision to

:24:43. > :24:50.ban its weightlifting team from the Rio Olympics. The Olympic weight

:24:51. > :24:55.very -- there were allegations of state-sponsored doping. An appeal

:24:56. > :25:01.will be made to the Court of Arbitration for Sport this weekend.

:25:02. > :25:04.Mike and Bob Bryan, the men's double tennis champions have pulled out of

:25:05. > :25:11.the Rio games citing health consoles. They said their family's

:25:12. > :25:22.health was there top priority. They did not make direct reference to the

:25:23. > :25:28.Zika virus. Zika is linked to birth defects in newborn babies.

:25:29. > :25:32.That is all the sports are now. Now to China where they have been

:25:33. > :25:39.celebrating in style the birth date of arguably the country's most

:25:40. > :25:47.famous triplets. The world's only living and triplets. It is their

:25:48. > :25:52.second birthdays. They were treated to a bamboo style birthday cake

:25:53. > :25:57.before settling down to some entertainment. That is all for the

:25:58. > :26:01.programme. From me and the rest of the team, see you soon.
