CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. The United Kingdom has suffered 19 long years

:00:14.:00:22.

of torment without a win, but is that about the change? After the

:00:23.:00:26.

biggest song search ever, six acts will fight for their chance to

:00:27.:00:31.

represent the UK at Eurovision 2016. Songs were selected from six weeks

:00:32.:00:43.

of entry. The British Academy of songwriters, composers and authors

:00:44.:00:46.

ran their own competition, and professional writers in the music

:00:47.:00:49.

industry took on the challenge. Tonight they battle it out for your

:00:50.:00:53.

votes. Who will you choose to represent the UK at the biggest

:00:54.:00:58.

music event in the world? The fate of the nation is your hands.

:00:59.:01:04.

Eurovision: You Decide. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Ladies and

:01:05.:01:11.

gentlemen, please welcome your host, Mel Giedroyc!

:01:12.:01:11.

CHEERING. Good evening, bonsoir, welcome to

:01:12.:01:37.

Eurovision: You Decide. CHEERING. Regular BBC Four viewers

:01:38.:01:47.

might be expecting to see dark Scandinavian drama at this time, and

:01:48.:01:53.

they would be right! It doesn't get more Scandinavian, my lovers, than

:01:54.:01:58.

Stockholm. And it doesn't get more dramatic than choosing who is going

:01:59.:02:03.

to represent the UK at Eurovision 2016.

:02:04.:02:10.

CHEERING. We've got the creme de la creme for you. Hundreds of acts down

:02:11.:02:15.

to just six for you to choose from. So why am I standing here Wittering

:02:16.:02:21.

away when you could be meeting them? Let's see who we've got.

:02:22.:02:30.

away when you could be meeting them? CHEERING. Matthew James...

:02:31.:02:38.

CHEERING. Darline... CHEERING. Karl William Lund...

:02:39.:02:46.

CHEERING. Been ka... CHEERING. And Joe and Jake...

:02:47.:02:56.

CHEERING. Tonight thanks to your votes one of those six acts will be

:02:57.:03:01.

crowned our winner and in May they'll be in Stockholm representing

:03:02.:03:06.

the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Imagine that. Imagine

:03:07.:03:13.

that, a singing show where the winner still gets gigs three months

:03:14.:03:18.

later. Later on I will explain the different ways that you can vote,

:03:19.:03:27.

but quick tip from me, go online and register for a BBC ID so you can go

:03:28.:03:32.

online and vote later on. Go to bbc.co.uk/eurovision. Now, it is a

:03:33.:03:37.

packed show tonight. Later on we'll be paying tribute to Mr Eurovision

:03:38.:03:44.

himself, the great Sir Terry Wogan. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. With a

:03:45.:03:50.

collection of his greatest Eurovision commentary gems. Like

:03:51.:03:57.

this one. Keep an eye out for the high priest of the Bongo. There's

:03:58.:04:06.

the fellow o. CHEERING. The spirit of Eurovision

:04:07.:04:14.

Hill. We've also got a performance from a woman who knows a thing or so

:04:15.:04:19.

about Eurovision. She was the last UK entry to win the thing. It's

:04:20.:04:22.

Katrina! CHEERING. It's a feast. Katrina has

:04:23.:04:33.

a right to be on our expert panel tonight. She's the one who blew

:04:34.:04:38.

everyone away with Love Shine A Light. Later on I will be shining a

:04:39.:04:44.

light on how some other Eurovision winners have wowed the audience. I

:04:45.:04:50.

will also be revealing our other panel members, later. First, to

:04:51.:04:56.

remind us all exactly how it's done, we've got the 2015 Eurovision

:04:57.:04:59.

champion... CHEERING. I thought you might like

:05:00.:05:08.

that. He's a gorgeous Swede. Almost as gorgeous as swede with butter and

:05:09.:05:15.

pepper. That's an image ultimatum conjuring with now. Mans Zelmerow.

:05:16.:05:21.

This, my friends, is how he won. I need to know that some of tonight's

:05:22.:05:26.

performances may contain flashing images.

:05:27.:05:34.

# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:05:35.:05:44.

12 points to Sweden... 12 points to Sweden! That's extraordinary. We

:05:45.:06:02.

have a winner, Sweden! It's the biggest thing that ever happened to

:06:03.:06:07.

me. I'm so proud and so happy and so proud of my team.

:06:08.:06:18.

CHEERING. And now right here, performing his winning song, Heroes,

:06:19.:06:22.

it's Mans Zelmerow. CHEERING.

:06:23.:06:28.

# And live your life like there is no tomorrow, son

:06:29.:06:50.

# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:06:51.:07:15.

# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:07:16.:07:25.

# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:07:26.:07:40.

# Don't say a word, don't make a sound

:07:41.:07:52.

# When you were lost I followed right behind

:07:53.:08:11.

# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:08:12.:08:30.

# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:08:31.:09:04.

# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:09:05.:09:19.

This is what a winner looks like, ladies and gentlemen!

:09:20.:10:00.

Mans, I'm missing slightly the leather trousers I'm sorry, I forgot

:10:01.:10:08.

them. At home. Next time I see you, I want you to wear them. Only

:10:09.:10:15.

leather. Always. What advice can you give to our six acts tonight? You

:10:16.:10:19.

have been through the whole process, you know what it is like. What

:10:20.:10:23.

advice can you give to them in Just that they should enjoy this moment.

:10:24.:10:27.

Show the audience that you really want to be here, want to be in

:10:28.:10:32.

Eurovision, want to represent your country. And sing the hell out of

:10:33.:10:38.

your song. Great advice. What about viewers watching at home, Mans. What

:10:39.:10:42.

advice can you give to them when they are trying to decide which act

:10:43.:10:46.

they should vote for? I think you should look for a song that catches

:10:47.:10:52.

your attention straight away and you just are mesmerised for those three

:10:53.:10:55.

minutes. That's what you are looking for. There are so many songs in

:10:56.:11:00.

Eurovision. You really need to stand out. So remember, you should be

:11:01.:11:06.

mesmerised, a little bit like I am at this very moment.

:11:07.:11:10.

CHEERING. Mans, it is so nice to see you. Let's catch up for some

:11:11.:11:15.

meatballs in Stockholm in May. Definitely. He doesn't want to, I

:11:16.:11:20.

can tell. Everybody, Mans Zelmerow! CHEERING. Thank you Mans.

:11:21.:11:30.

So, it's been made very clear to me that

:11:31.:11:32.

I can't spend the whole evening with Mans,

:11:33.:11:34.

But what should you be looking for?

:11:35.:11:39.

As Mans has just shown us, it's not enough to just

:11:40.:11:42.

have a brilliant song, you also need a great performance

:11:43.:11:44.

Now I know what you're all thinking.

:11:45.:11:47.

We love spectacular staging but we don't know what the stage in

:11:48.:11:50.

Stockholm looks like. Help us out! Well, luckily for you I nipped

:11:51.:11:54.

over to SVT, the Swedish broadcaster, had a look

:11:55.:11:56.

at their design for the Stockholm stage

:11:57.:11:58.

and knocked up this I'm very multi-skilled. Have a look

:11:59.:12:11.

at this. They've seen it. That was very quick wasn't it!

:12:12.:12:15.

LAUGHTER. I thought it was going to be longer! It doesn't matter.

:12:16.:12:32.

First up is vocal coach and former Eurovision performer,

:12:33.:12:34.

Then we've got choreographer Jay Revell.

:12:35.:12:37.

He's worked with stars like Ellie Goulding,

:12:38.:12:51.

Jess Glynne and Years Years so he knows

:12:52.:12:53.

a thing or two about putting on a show.

:12:54.:12:55.

And finally, who better to help our entrants

:12:56.:12:57.

than our last winner, the amazing Katrina!

:12:58.:12:58.

Look at the lovely panel on their survive el green chairs. Carrie,

:12:59.:13:09.

what are you going to be looking for in each performance? OK, two things

:13:10.:13:15.

for me tonight. Anthemic song and a singer who can sing in front of 200

:13:16.:13:19.

million people and not get nervous. Good. Katrina, you won in 1997. What

:13:20.:13:27.

did you have those years ago that you think has maybe been missing

:13:28.:13:33.

since? A really smelly green shirt I think, Mel. I loved your green

:13:34.:13:38.

shirt. You could have taken off with those collars. It was absolutely

:13:39.:13:42.

fantastic. You've got to have a lot of confidence. You have to have a

:13:43.:13:46.

very strong song and really want it with all your heart. Amazing. Jay, a

:13:47.:13:52.

little word from you, my love. A quick word about the staging. What

:13:53.:13:56.

should the guys be looking out for? Wow, they need to make it big and

:13:57.:14:03.

exciting. Just needs to match the song. Mans is a great example of how

:14:04.:14:09.

it matches the song. He won Eurovision. Lovely, thank you Jay. I

:14:10.:14:14.

told you I would deliver a good panel of experts. They are here to

:14:15.:14:18.

help but at the end of the day it is all down to our six performers and

:14:19.:14:23.

of course you at home. Your votes will start which of the six is off

:14:24.:14:26.

to Sweden. That's a lot of pressure on you guys. To ease that pressure a

:14:27.:14:31.

bit we won't be opening the vote until we've seen everyone perform,

:14:32.:14:35.

so please don't try voting just yet. Your vote won't count and you may

:14:36.:14:41.

still be charged. I think it is time we get this party started. What do

:14:42.:14:45.

you reckon? CHEERING. First up it's Dulcima, who

:14:46.:14:52.

will be performing When You Go. Let's find out a little bit more

:14:53.:14:55.

about them. I'm Tom, and I wrote the song. I'm

:14:56.:15:10.

Dulcima, I'm singing Tom's song. The name is also Dulcima, which refers

:15:11.:15:15.

to me and the band behind me as well. We are as one, Dulcima. We

:15:16.:15:20.

were buskers from Canterbury, that met on the high Street. Dulcima was

:15:21.:15:26.

a violin player and I used to play guitar and sing. Initially when we

:15:27.:15:29.

started busking we would play a lot of folk but as the years have

:15:30.:15:32.

developed we've gone on to play different styles of music. The song

:15:33.:15:36.

is about the positive spin on somebody we knew, how you deal with

:15:37.:15:43.

it. My favourite lyric is I held your hand, you help my heart. I

:15:44.:15:49.

don't know, it's fun to sing other thing, it's a great line to thing

:15:50.:15:53.

and I have a wonderful mental image of hands and hearts kind of

:15:54.:15:57.

intertwining and holding. My favourite lyric in the song is,

:15:58.:16:03.

well, the title, when you go, when you go I'm going to light a candle

:16:04.:16:07.

so I can see in the dark, and I'd like to say it had a deep meaning,

:16:08.:16:11.

but it's just because I do light candles. It's a really strong song

:16:12.:16:18.

and we've worked really hard on it. It's great fun to perform. I'd just

:16:19.:16:22.

really hope the British public will love it as much as we do.

:16:23.:16:29.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Dulcima, with When You Go.

:16:30.:16:34.

# It was only you and me at the start

:16:35.:16:52.

# I held your hand, you held my heart

:16:53.:16:55.

# So when you go I'm gonna light a candle

:16:56.:17:00.

# So please don't make things difficult

:17:01.:17:07.

# It was only you and me at the start

:17:08.:17:22.

# So when you go I'm gonna light a candle

:17:23.:17:50.

# So please don't make things difficult

:17:51.:17:58.

# It was only you and me at the start

:17:59.:18:02.

# And finally we'll try to read through the heart

:18:03.:18:10.

# So please don't make things difficult

:18:11.:18:15.

# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever

:18:16.:18:23.

# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever

:18:24.:18:31.

# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever

:18:32.:18:40.

# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever

:18:41.:18:48.

# So when you go I'm gonna light a candle

:18:49.:18:56.

# So please don't make things difficult

:18:57.:19:04.

# It was only you and me at the start

:19:05.:19:09.

# And finally we'll try to read through the heart

:19:10.:19:17.

# So please don't make things difficult

:19:18.:19:21.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Thank you.

:19:22.:19:39.

Well done first up. I want it to go like that, it's one of those songs.

:19:40.:19:49.

Loved it! Carrie, the lovely Carrie Grant. What did you think of that?

:19:50.:19:55.

Locally, and otherwise? I love the fact there was lots of musicians on

:19:56.:19:59.

stage, that's fantastic. Goods long. My slight question with these guys

:20:00.:20:03.

is when I look at you I feel like your music should be darker -- good

:20:04.:20:08.

song. More rock, something a bit more sinister, and... AUDIENCE

:20:09.:20:18.

BREWS. It looks lightweight, far how you look and sound. It's quite a

:20:19.:20:23.

folksy look and song that Dulcima have got. How would that translate

:20:24.:20:28.

onto a huge stage in Stockholm? The energy they bring is absolutely

:20:29.:20:30.

electric. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:20:31.:20:34.

Look at what happened just now, with the players up there, the energy

:20:35.:20:38.

they've give playing their instruments, they are real musicians

:20:39.:20:44.

and showcasing that. They turn up, stomp in and nailed it. Well done,

:20:45.:20:50.

Jay. Magical. There's electricity already here between Jay and

:20:51.:20:53.

Dulcima. Katrina, you know more than any of us hear what it's like to

:20:54.:20:58.

sing with a band behind you. Do they give you support on the night, when

:20:59.:21:02.

you are out there right Eurovision? Is it nice, singing with a band? Of

:21:03.:21:06.

course, it's a wonderful iconic moment to be able to spend with the

:21:07.:21:12.

band that you love. The clean-up of -- Katrina and the Waves was the

:21:13.:21:16.

name of the group, we had help from the back-up singers. It was a

:21:17.:21:20.

rousing start. If the next band are like that...

:21:21.:21:22.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE How are you, love? My face is

:21:23.:21:30.

twitching from smiling. Don't you worry, it's a beautiful twitching

:21:31.:21:33.

face. If you think that Dulcima has got what it takes to represent the

:21:34.:21:35.

UK, then you will need to call... You can vote online for free. Give

:21:36.:21:53.

them your love, Dulcima. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:21:54.:21:59.

Time now to find out about song Liberty. It's called A Better Man,

:22:00.:22:07.

and is being performed for you by Matthew James. -- song number two.

:22:08.:22:17.

Let's take a look. AIDS joined -- I joined 22 years ago when I was

:22:18.:22:21.

studying at college and was literally hating it and wanted to

:22:22.:22:24.

get out of college, I got a phone call, can you thing? I think so, I

:22:25.:22:30.

sang and the next day I was in a teacup at Alton Towers in a boy

:22:31.:22:36.

band. That's it! Six top 40 hits and travelled the world, take me away,

:22:37.:22:42.

on Top Of The Pops was hysterical. Give it all this weird looks,

:22:43.:22:49.

brilliant. The song I'm singing is A Better Man. I heard the song, it was

:22:50.:22:53.

like, this is so uplifting. It gave me goose bumps. The song is about

:22:54.:22:58.

love, clearly, and it's about how when you find somebody that you

:22:59.:23:04.

really, really connect to, that person makes you a better person

:23:05.:23:09.

yourself. My favourite lyric is you inspire me, give me reason to

:23:10.:23:12.

believe. It's nice to have people around you, whether a partner or

:23:13.:23:16.

friends, and everyone has been so supportive of me doing Eurovision.

:23:17.:23:19.

It feels like now was the right time. It's a great song. I will give

:23:20.:23:23.

it my best. There will be an element of nerves for performance. Nerves

:23:24.:23:26.

and excitement will get me through and give me that little lift to get

:23:27.:23:33.

through the song. I want to do my best performance, really, and

:23:34.:23:35.

hopefully people can relate to it and people like it.

:23:36.:23:37.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Its Matthew James, with A Better

:23:38.:23:39.

Man. # The sound of your laugh

:23:40.:23:48.

is what I live for # With a single word you make me

:23:49.:24:05.

who I am # And with every day

:24:06.:24:28.

you make me want to be # And I'll take care of all

:24:29.:24:35.

your needs # All you've gotta do is let

:24:36.:24:54.

me know # With a single word

:24:55.:25:00.

you make me who I am # And with every day

:25:01.:25:23.

you make me want to be # With a single word you make me

:25:24.:25:29.

who I am # And with every day

:25:30.:26:13.

you make me want to be CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:26:14.:26:55.

Thank you. Well done. Did I scare you? It's lovely to see you. Now,

:26:56.:27:01.

Jay, that struck me, it was an intimate performance, it was an

:27:02.:27:04.

intense performance. Did it work for you question might it was definitely

:27:05.:27:08.

intimate. He made a real connection with his audience. He got his

:27:09.:27:13.

message across as best he could. He sang the song excellently, it was

:27:14.:27:17.

awesome. Good job. Carrie, let's talk about the vocals. What did you

:27:18.:27:23.

think? It's really clear you are an experienced performer and there's a

:27:24.:27:26.

security that we feel when we hear that. I actually really love this

:27:27.:27:31.

song. But the public have got to decide, is this the type of song

:27:32.:27:36.

that can win it for the UK? That's the big question. Katrina, you write

:27:37.:27:41.

lots of songs. What did you think a bit in terms of its lyrics? This

:27:42.:27:46.

song has a beautiful narrative. It's very passionate. It feels as if it's

:27:47.:27:51.

coming from such a personal place. It's very inspiring lyrics as well.

:27:52.:27:55.

Really beautiful singing. Wise words from the panel. If you think that

:27:56.:28:01.

Matthew here has got what it takes to represent the UK, then you will

:28:02.:28:03.

need to call... The vote opens after we have seen

:28:04.:28:18.

everyone perform, later in the show. Give it up for Matthew. Well done,

:28:19.:28:27.

Matthew. So two down, four to go, and next up we have a gorgeous

:28:28.:28:32.

country pop duo, called Darline, and the song, Until Tomorrow. Let's see

:28:33.:28:42.

what they have to say. We first met through a mutual friend, we knew Ben

:28:43.:28:48.

from the shires and he put us together because we worked so great

:28:49.:28:52.

together. Every day we get to get up and do everything we love to do, and

:28:53.:28:57.

two passions together makes it explode. It's so fun, so fantastic,

:28:58.:29:01.

someone to laugh at the stuff you would laugh at yourself with. Our

:29:02.:29:08.

sound is country, a bigger pop sound basically, but still with our

:29:09.:29:11.

country routes that we have grown up on. We were very, very lucky to be

:29:12.:29:16.

asked to go on tour with the Shires, an amazing country duo. We were

:29:17.:29:21.

really excited, so nervous. It was really fun. The song is called Until

:29:22.:29:26.

Tomorrow and it's kind of about grasping hold of a moment,

:29:27.:29:31.

basically. Having fun. It just relates really well to every

:29:32.:29:33.

situation, so it's really lovely. We wrote the same one? It's a strong

:29:34.:29:46.

lyric. We both absolutely love the opening lyric, if you've never seen

:29:47.:29:50.

the dark then you've never seen the stars. I love, that because it means

:29:51.:29:55.

that you have to go through some bad time to see the good times. To

:29:56.:29:59.

represent the UK would be amazing for us. We want to have fun. We want

:30:00.:30:05.

everyone to enjoy it, and the buzz from that will be amazing. It's

:30:06.:30:09.

Darline with Until Tomorrow. # If you've never seen the dark,

:30:10.:30:21.

then you've never seen the stars # Even if you break my heart,

:30:22.:30:27.

I'll be here tomorrow # Nothing ventured, nothing gained,

:30:28.:30:32.

throw your other plans away # Even if you only

:30:33.:30:37.

stay until tomorrow # Hold on to me and

I'll hold on to you # I won't let go, won't

let go until tomorrow # Hold on to me, like

the last leaf on a tree # I won't let go, won't

:30:55.:30:59.

let go until tomorrow # And in the harbour you'll be warm,

:31:00.:31:06.

you'll be safe against the storm # But that's not what

:31:07.:31:11.

I'm looking for, no # What will be will surely

:31:12.:31:15.

be, until tomorrow # Hold on to me and

I'll hold on to you # I won't let go, won't

the last leaf on a tree # I won't let go, won't

let go until tomorrow # I will always want

:31:43.:31:48.

you until tomorrow # If you've never seen the dark,

:31:49.:32:10.

then you've never seen the stars # Hold on to me and

:32:11.:32:15.

I'll hold on to you # I won't let go, won't

:32:16.:32:23.

let go until tomorrow # Hold on to me, like

the last leaf on a tree # I won't let go, won't

let go until tomorrow # I'll always want you,

:32:35.:32:39.

until tomorrow # I'll always want you,

:32:40.:32:54.

until tomorrow #. Well done. Loving the braids, girls.

:32:55.:33:27.

Carrie, Darline sing together so beautifully. They harmonise so well,

:33:28.:33:33.

what did you make of that I think you both have really beautiful

:33:34.:33:37.

voices. I think you are both stunningly beautiful. At the end you

:33:38.:33:41.

both looked at each other and did a total vibe with each other once the

:33:42.:33:45.

music had finished. I don't want to see two soloists. I want to see a

:33:46.:33:52.

duo who interact more. Apart from that you are brilliant soloists.

:33:53.:33:56.

AUDIENCE BOOS. Lovely, she is being constructive, guys. Jay, beautiful

:33:57.:34:01.

staging. What would you do for them? Stockholm? I think you want to

:34:02.:34:06.

enhance how beautiful it is. It won't be the first time a beautiful

:34:07.:34:12.

performance has won Eurovision. Like Carrie said, they need to connect as

:34:13.:34:18.

a group. I personally think they did. Katrina, do you think this type

:34:19.:34:25.

of music will go down well in Stockholm this year?

:34:26.:34:29.

CHEERING. That's a yes from our audience! Yeah? It sounds like it.

:34:30.:34:41.

If this song went through, this is the type of song other Europeans

:34:42.:34:46.

would vote for. Interesting. Girls, huddle up. If you think Darline has

:34:47.:34:52.

got what it takes to represent the UK you will need to call:

:34:53.:35:04.

Or vote online for free when the vote opens after we've seen

:35:05.:35:11.

everybody perform later in the show. I think they like you Darline.

:35:12.:35:16.

CHEERING. Please give it up for Darline! Thank you, girls. Off you

:35:17.:35:24.

go now. A bit bossy. Next up, let's find out about Karl William Lund,

:35:25.:35:31.

who is performing his self-penned song, Miracle. Something that

:35:32.:35:38.

started off as a hobby has now become a true passion. I started

:35:39.:35:42.

performing in bars around Liverpool, where I was living at the time. I

:35:43.:35:50.

started up loading videos on YouTube and I was getting 30,000 or 40,000

:35:51.:35:55.

views per video, quite a lot back then. So in 2012 I lived in Greece.

:35:56.:36:01.

I was working in a Beatles tribute band playing John Lennon. We lived

:36:02.:36:06.

in a complex with other singers and performers. There was a Tina Turner

:36:07.:36:13.

tribute act, The Drifters and The Supremes. I started lyrics. It was

:36:14.:36:18.

interesting between opportunity to put a song forward for this came

:36:19.:36:22.

about. Straight away I thought Miracle is right for this. I hope

:36:23.:36:28.

that people love it. There's a lyric in Miracle on the chorus that says,

:36:29.:36:34.

chasing down your star will never be the same again. I think what that

:36:35.:36:39.

means is I'm almost saying that my love and my admiration for you is

:36:40.:36:43.

now on a completely different level. I think that is the key to a good

:36:44.:36:49.

song, to put your own experience into that, but to write it in a way

:36:50.:36:54.

where it can touch other people as well. I hope that's what will make

:36:55.:36:59.

it a success. Let's go to Sweden! CHEERING. It's Karl William Lund

:37:00.:37:05.

with Miracle. # I feel you coming, miracle,

:37:06.:37:10.

oh oh # This life I'm living, beautiful,

:37:11.:37:47.

oh oh # I believe that I'll

:37:48.:38:04.

be there for life # Give up all your thoughts

:38:05.:38:13.

of luck # What you'll give, not you'll

:38:14.:38:17.

get back # This life I'm living, beautiful,

:38:18.:38:21.

oh oh # I believe that I'll be

:38:22.:39:25.

# I'll be there for life (Miracle, oh oh)

:39:26.:39:29.

# I'll be there for life (I feel you coming, miracle, oh oh)

:39:30.:39:34.

# A miracle (It's beautiful, oh oh)

:39:35.:39:47.

# You are (This life I'm living, beautiful, oh oh)

:39:48.:39:54.

Karl, the neatest suit in showbiz. And a little bit of Tom Hiddlestone

:39:55.:40:22.

going on there in those eyes. Lovely. Carrie Grant, what did you

:40:23.:40:27.

think of Karl's performance? Karl, that is the most solid performance

:40:28.:40:32.

we've seen tonight, the best singing we've heard tonight. You look great

:40:33.:40:37.

on camera and you've got loads of inner life. These are some of the

:40:38.:40:41.

qualities we were talking about us looking for earlier. Fantastic. Jay,

:40:42.:40:46.

how would you take what Karl did to that enormous stage in Stockholm? I

:40:47.:40:50.

think everyone saw here tonight that Karl takes you into his world. He

:40:51.:40:55.

makes the stage as small as he wants it to be. And everyone else feels

:40:56.:41:02.

it. You can enhance it in so many ways. You can only have six people

:41:03.:41:06.

on stage, with technology you can build it up. Katrina, like you, Karl

:41:07.:41:13.

so songwriter. He wrote this song himself. I did indeed. Do you think

:41:14.:41:17.

it makes a difference when you are singing a song if you have written

:41:18.:41:21.

it yourself in do you give it more passion, do you think? Yeah, sure.

:41:22.:41:25.

Karl has an emotional connection with the song and that comes

:41:26.:41:29.

through. I think we all felt it. Lovely. Thank you so much panel. If

:41:30.:41:34.

you think Karl's got what it takes to represent the UK, you'll need to

:41:35.:41:37.

call: Or vote online for free when the

:41:38.:41:49.

vote opens after we've seen everybody perform later in the show.

:41:50.:41:54.

Go crazy for Karl! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Well done,

:41:55.:42:03.

Karl. Bianca is up now with the song Shine A Little Light. Hopefully this

:42:04.:42:15.

will prove illuminating. I started off as a cellist. I was lucky. I got

:42:16.:42:22.

an Elton John scholarship to train in London. It was a huge part of my

:42:23.:42:26.

life for a really long time. Then I started singing. It was clear that

:42:27.:42:31.

was where my heart was, so this represents my time in the girl band.

:42:32.:42:38.

It was wonderful. We toured with Shakira, the black eyes peas. It was

:42:39.:42:43.

phenomenal. The producer who wrote the song, I've worked with him

:42:44.:42:50.

before and know him well. It was nice to be with a song that spoke to

:42:51.:42:55.

me straight away. The song is called Shine A Little Light. I really love

:42:56.:42:59.

this song, because it is so positive. The lyric that I'm writing

:43:00.:43:07.

down now is my favourite. It is I've been carrying a concrete heart, got

:43:08.:43:12.

me worrying there is no fire in the dying flame. I like the sentiment in

:43:13.:43:17.

it. Whatever has got you down, there is someone or something that picks

:43:18.:43:21.

you up and makes you feel better. I love songs like that which are

:43:22.:43:25.

optimistic and positive, because I think we need more of that in the

:43:26.:43:33.

world. For me to represent the UK in Eurovision would be incredible. I

:43:34.:43:37.

physically cannot put into words how exciting it would be. It is like a

:43:38.:43:42.

childhood dream come true. CHEERING. It's Bianca with Shine A

:43:43.:43:45.

Little Light. # But every time I reach out,

:43:46.:43:50.

the fingers burn # I've been carrying

:43:51.:43:56.

a concrete heart # Got me worrying there's just no

:43:57.:44:03.

fire in a dying flame # That's when you

:44:04.:44:10.

shine a little light # You keep burning

:44:11.:44:18.

bright so I can see # You shine a little light,

:44:19.:44:27.

shine a little light on me # I've been carrying

:44:28.:44:47.

a concrete heart # Got me worrying there's just no

:44:48.:44:59.

fire in a dying flame # That's when you shine a little

:45:00.:45:04.

light, shine a little light on me # You keep burning bright so I can

:45:05.:45:13.

see # You shine a little light,

:45:14.:45:25.

shine a little light on me # When there's no-one to hold on to

:45:26.:45:39.

# Shine a light # You shine a little light,

:45:40.:45:50.

shine a little light on me # You keep burning

:45:51.:46:01.

bright so I can see # You shine a little light,

:46:02.:46:06.

shine a little light on me Bianca, now, listen love, listen,

:46:07.:46:52.

don't trip over, don't trip over. I'm going to be your bridesmaid. I'm

:46:53.:46:58.

just going to hold this. If you get to Stockholm, there are a lot of

:46:59.:47:01.

wind machines. We don't want to see this getting caught in a wind

:47:02.:47:05.

machine and then ripping off the whole outfit! Bianca, well done,

:47:06.:47:10.

that was tremendous. Thank you so much. Well done. So, Jay, what did

:47:11.:47:16.

you think of that performance? You just can't fault that vocal. That

:47:17.:47:20.

vocal was insane. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:47:21.:47:24.

But I think she's got even more to give. I think she could give even

:47:25.:47:30.

more, even more, keep rising and rising, three months until

:47:31.:47:33.

Eurovision, and if this is our act, she will do us proud.

:47:34.:47:35.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE . Carrick -- Carrie, have you got

:47:36.:47:42.

any more to say about the vocal performance? That was great, that's

:47:43.:47:49.

what we were waiting for, this is the type of song that can win! She's

:47:50.:47:54.

fantastic! They are cheering for Carrie now, they are cheering.

:47:55.:47:58.

Katrina, a big power ballad. Is this what we need for this year in

:47:59.:48:06.

Stockholm? I like the lyrics. The lyrics are great. Come on, Bianca,

:48:07.:48:15.

take is to Stockholm! Katrina is sounding a bit like Davos at the

:48:16.:48:19.

moment, there is something like a Dalek about her. We still love you,

:48:20.:48:23.

Katrina, whatever you say or do. Didn't hear any of that! If you

:48:24.:48:29.

think that Bianca has got what it takes to represent the UK, then you

:48:30.:48:30.

will need to call... You can vote online for free when

:48:31.:48:46.

the vote opens after we have seen everyone perform later in the show.

:48:47.:48:49.

Thank you so much to Bianca. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:48:50.:48:56.

Just helping, there we go, helping. Now, listen up. We are at song

:48:57.:49:02.

number six already. I can't believe it. Our final act is a pair of young

:49:03.:49:08.

lads, Joe and Jake, performing You're Not Alone. Let's hear more

:49:09.:49:16.

from them. I think the voice is a great stepping stone, singing in

:49:17.:49:20.

front of millions of people, a live audience, probably one of the best

:49:21.:49:25.

moments of my life to date. Yes, it was incredible. I do get chills when

:49:26.:49:33.

I see it. I was about to say the same thing. Me and Jake always got

:49:34.:49:38.

on when we were in the Voice, backstage and stuff we got on as

:49:39.:49:42.

mates and we have a similar music style. I work in with Joe, having

:49:43.:49:46.

good fun with what we are doing. It's nice to work with someone who

:49:47.:49:50.

is passionate about their music, like me. Do I look like that? The

:49:51.:49:56.

song we are singing is You're Not Alone and we personally love the

:49:57.:49:59.

song, love singing this song and the whole message behind it is about

:50:00.:50:02.

unity and love, really. Our favourite lyric is don't speak, your

:50:03.:50:07.

smile tells me all I need to know because the song is very energetic,

:50:08.:50:10.

it's nice to have a solid -- soft lyric in it. We had to fight for who

:50:11.:50:20.

would sing it. Jake got it. I got it. I think what people will like

:50:21.:50:24.

about the performance it's genuine. They will see that me and Joe enjoy

:50:25.:50:27.

performing the track and love what we are doing. Every moment in our

:50:28.:50:32.

musical career so far has built up to this and for us to get the chance

:50:33.:50:36.

to represent the UK would be a dream come true for us. It's Joe and Jake,

:50:37.:50:40.

with You're Not Alone. # Heartbeat, when you're not

:50:41.:50:46.

around it's beating slow. # And it's something that

:50:47.:50:50.

I've never known, oh-oh. # I'll be, I'll be the answer

:50:51.:50:59.

you've been waiting for. # I'll be the truth that you've

:51:00.:51:05.

been looking for, oh-oh. # You're not alone,

:51:06.:51:13.

we're in this together. # All that you want

:51:14.:51:16.

is right here forever. # And they don't need

:51:17.:51:20.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # And they don't

:51:21.:51:24.

need to know, oh-oh. # You're not alone,

:51:25.:51:28.

we're in this together. # All that you want,

:51:29.:51:31.

I'm right here forever. # And they don't need

:51:32.:51:35.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # And they don't

:51:36.:51:40.

need to know, oh-oh. # You're free, free to let go 'cos

:51:41.:51:44.

I'll be here for you. # And when you fall I'll

:51:45.:51:49.

be your parachute, oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm

:51:50.:51:59.

dancing in the sky, I, I. # You're not alone,

:52:00.:52:04.

we're in this together. # All that you want is right

:52:05.:52:16.

here forever. # And they don't need

:52:17.:52:20.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm

:52:21.:52:24.

dancing in the sky, I, I. # Don't speak, your smile

:52:25.:52:34.

tells me all I need to know. # Your eyes show me

:52:35.:52:49.

where I wanna go, oh-oh. # You're not alone, we're

:52:50.:52:58.

in this together. # All that you want

:52:59.:53:01.

is right here forever. # And they don't need

:53:02.:53:04.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm

:53:05.:53:09.

dancing in the sky, I, I. Well done. And our lovely panel are

:53:10.:53:50.

here just to give their opinions. It's you who are going to decide who

:53:51.:53:57.

is going to go to Stockholm. Now, these two Carrie, looked as if they

:53:58.:54:00.

were having a great time on stage together, didn't they? They

:54:01.:54:03.

certainly did. I think there's going to be a lot of young people voting

:54:04.:54:08.

for these guys tonight. You've got a lot of young fans out there,

:54:09.:54:11.

probably. They've got great stage presence haven't they, Jay? Or some

:54:12.:54:18.

stage presence, two lads having the time of their life, it looks great.

:54:19.:54:23.

Would you do a sort of Oxford one rips off the other was mac trousers

:54:24.:54:28.

or jacket or something? It's what the audience want to see! We might

:54:29.:54:33.

have to make it happen. Now, Katrina, you our -- are our high

:54:34.:54:42.

priestess of Eurovision. Would you think that these two are contenders

:54:43.:54:47.

for Stockholm? Yes, come on, we can't get the open -oh out of our

:54:48.:54:57.

head. It's very catchy. It's a winner. These guys are really cute,

:54:58.:55:03.

too. Come on, I want to take them home. They are indeed and Eurovision

:55:04.:55:09.

loves a duet, don't they? Carrie, wouldn't you say that's true? Do

:55:10.:55:17.

they? Eurovision love a duet. Thank you, thanks, panel. Now, if you

:55:18.:55:22.

think, thanks, guys, you are making me look slightly younger and

:55:23.:55:25.

definitely cooler. Let's keep this pose. Good. If you think that Joe

:55:26.:55:30.

and Jake have got what it takes to represent the UK, then you will need

:55:31.:55:32.

to call... Vote online for free, and the vote

:55:33.:55:46.

living... #. If you are at home arguing about

:58:27.:59:47.

what makes a winning song, we are so here to help. This is what makes

:59:48.:00:03.

outstanding performances. If your view of Eurovision looks something

:00:04.:00:05.

like this... Where have you been for the past few

:00:06.:00:19.

years? It's time to cast away those old cliches and look at how more

:00:20.:00:24.

recent acts have used not just the song but staging and style to win

:00:25.:00:29.

what is now the world's biggest live entertainment event. Norway had a

:00:30.:00:33.

landslide victory in 2009, achieving to date the highest ever score of

:00:34.:00:39.

the Eurovision Song Contest. The fact that instruments can only be

:00:40.:00:46.

mimed in Eurovision didn't stop Alexander Ryback from using it to

:00:47.:00:51.

good effect, along with some playful looks at the camera. He secured his

:00:52.:00:55.

victory with a whopping 380 points. In 2010 Germany's simplistic staging

:00:56.:01:22.

and modest pop song stood out in a sea of overcomplicated performances.

:01:23.:01:33.

Azerbaijan took total advantage of the contest's grand scale in 2011

:01:34.:01:42.

with a pyrotechnic curtain, full stage use and camera angles to

:01:43.:01:45.

stepped up production values. CHEERING. Meanwhile it was a

:01:46.:01:57.

landslide victory for Sweden in 2012. In an ocean of ballads Loreen

:01:58.:02:04.

stood out with a great song enhanced with dramatic back lighting, the

:02:05.:02:08.

wind in her hair and nothing on her feet.

:02:09.:02:13.

Denmark led the pack throughout the results for a comfortable win in

:02:14.:02:25.

2013. Emily's innocent and hypnotic flute charmed the audience from the

:02:26.:02:27.

start. In 2014 Conchita's memorable

:02:28.:02:45.

performance and stunning performance.

:02:46.:03:01.

And so we come to a performance style that's redefined the staging

:03:02.:03:12.

of Eurovision yet again. Again. Impeccable timing and phenomenal

:03:13.:03:18.

screen interaction with a character called Chalk Boy which became more

:03:19.:03:30.

famous than Mans helped Sweden win again. All you've got to do is

:03:31.:03:35.

choose the perfect staging, lighting and song and have an artist with

:03:36.:03:42.

amazing stage presence deliver it impeccably. We've got somebody who

:03:43.:03:44.

Now, we've got someone who did all of that.

:03:45.:03:53.

Let's set the scene, it's 1997 - the Spice Girls help to launch

:03:54.:03:56.

Channel 5, East 17 lose the unique talents of Brian Harvey,

:03:57.:03:59.

and songs including Barbie Girl and "Teletubbies Say Eh Oh" sell

:04:00.:04:02.

It's fair to say it was not a stellar year for British

:04:03.:04:06.

But we had a saviour in Dublin, where this lady won

:04:07.:04:09.

the Eurovision Song Contest for the UK,

:04:10.:04:11.

# Love shine a light in every corner of my heart

:04:12.:04:23.

# Let the love light carry, let the love light carry

:04:24.:04:27.

# Light up the magic in every little part

:04:28.:04:33.

# Let our love shine a light, in every corner of our hearts

:04:34.:04:44.

CHEERING. Come on! Come on and feel the love.

:04:45.:04:53.

# Love shine a light, in every corner of my dreams

:04:54.:04:55.

# Let the love light carry, let the love light carry

:04:56.:05:01.

# Like the mighty river, flowing from the stream

:05:02.:05:06.

# Let our love shine a light, in every corner of my dreams

:05:07.:05:13.

# And we're all gonna shine a light together

:05:14.:05:21.

# Brothers and sisters, in every little part

:05:22.:05:31.

# Let our love shine a light, in every corner of our hearts

:05:32.:05:41.

Can I see your hands tonight? Come on, everybody. Feel the love! Come

:05:42.:05:49.

on, keep it up. # Love shine a light, in every

:05:50.:05:51.

corner of the world # Let the love light carry,

:05:52.:05:53.

let the love light carry # Light up the magic,

:05:54.:05:56.

for every boy and girl # Let our love shine a light,

:05:57.:06:02.

in every corner of the world # And we're all gonna

:06:03.:06:12.

shine a light together # Brothers and sisters,

:06:13.:06:17.

in every little part # Let our love shine a light,

:06:18.:06:28.

in every corner of our hearts # And we're all gonna shine a

:06:29.:06:35.

light together # Brothers and sisters,

:06:36.:06:38.

in every little part # Let our love shine a light,

:06:39.:06:50.

in every corner of our hearts #. CHEERING. Come on! Come on and feel

:06:51.:07:04.

the love. Can I see your hands tonight? Come on, everybody. Feel

:07:05.:07:06.

the love! Come on, keep it up. Come on and sing it! # Shine a light in

:07:07.:07:10.

every corner of our hearts. Love. Can I see your hands tonight? Come

:07:11.:07:13.

on, everybody. Feel the love! Come on, keep it

:07:14.:07:30.

She's still got it! Wow! Katrina, that was a wonderful, wonderful

:07:31.:07:40.

performance. It still sounds as good and as fresh as ever. I can't

:07:41.:07:45.

believe it is 19 years since you sang that. Has the time just flown

:07:46.:07:52.

by? Didn't I sing it well when I was only 12 years old?

:07:53.:07:56.

LAUGHTER. And you still sing it well at 29. Katrina, I need to ask you

:07:57.:08:02.

and I think the gang here really need to know. Do you think we can do

:08:03.:08:07.

it in 2016? CHEERING. Everybody said in 1997

:08:08.:08:14.

that we couldn't win it because of political voting this, that and the

:08:15.:08:19.

other, but it is a croc. Of course we can and we should. We have

:08:20.:08:24.

everything we need to win it this year. Year. Everything. I believe

:08:25.:08:30.

everything Katrina says. She has the most intense blue eyes I have ever

:08:31.:08:36.

seen. I watched your performance from 1997 today actually, and you

:08:37.:08:40.

had the look when you went on stage that was focused as if to say, I'm

:08:41.:08:45.

going to go out there and win it. So what does our winning act have to to

:08:46.:08:51.

do when they get to Stockholm? Do exactly what I did. Do exactly the

:08:52.:08:57.

same thing. Just get that killer look. Thank you Katrina. Take note,

:08:58.:09:05.

guys. These are the wise words of our high priestess of Eurovision,

:09:06.:09:11.

Katrina. Thank you so much again for a top-notch performance Katrina and

:09:12.:09:16.

for your insight into the wonderful world of Eurovision. Now if that

:09:17.:09:21.

little trip down memory lane has made you hungry for another UK

:09:22.:09:25.

Eurovision winner, don't worry there is still time to vote. Don't leave

:09:26.:09:29.

me, Katrina. I need you to stay right here. Let's remind ourselves

:09:30.:09:34.

of tonight's six acts all desperate to represent the UK at Eurovision

:09:35.:09:39.

2016. You have about six minutes left to vote.

:09:40.:12:02.

Here is a con under Birmingham. What's the greatest Eurovision

:12:03.:12:15.

performance ever? For me it it was Sweet Dreams 1983. The truth is it

:12:16.:12:20.

wasn't the birth of Abba or the skirts being whipped off bucks fizz

:12:21.:12:26.

or even when Ireland sent Dustin the turkey. It was one man, Sir Terry

:12:27.:12:31.

Wogan. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. APPLAUSE..

:12:32.:12:42.

Hold it down to a dull roar. The rest of Europe thinks the British

:12:43.:12:56.

are reserved. Ah, Ah, the return of the custard yellow suit. The Little

:12:57.:13:04.

Mermaid and D death. This pair will kill you. Song one. 25 to go after

:13:05.:13:12.

this. Watch out for the lead singer. You will be able to tell what he had

:13:13.:13:16.

for breakfast! It's life, Jim, but what as we know

:13:17.:13:42.

it. Keep an eye out for the high priest of the Bongo. There is the

:13:43.:13:45.

fellow. The very nasty shock before she came

:13:46.:14:00.

on. Be in good cheer, we're nearly halfway through. You're going to

:14:01.:14:10.

like these. There they are. There's Silly and Spotty and Soppy and

:14:11.:14:18.

Saucy, the four Croatian Spice Girls. The girls are wearing just a

:14:19.:14:27.

few little things run up by their mothers. This girl will need the

:14:28.:14:39.

neck muscles of around Schwarzenegger to keep this up.

:14:40.:15:00.

You've had a few, haven't you, son? You look like Will and Grace, you

:15:01.:15:13.

do. Thanks for dressing up. I made a little mistake, six points, Croatia

:15:14.:15:17.

and Austria five points. Now, don't panic. Sorry, we have to start

:15:18.:15:26.

again. That's OK, you're fired. Ten points goes to... It's not easy,

:15:27.:15:41.

this. Bosnia-Herzegovina. Yes. Ake. 12 points goes to... Are you related

:15:42.:15:46.

to the Director-General of Swedish television? We wish you all the

:15:47.:16:02.

best, from all of us. Terry Wogan. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:16:03.:16:10.

Gone, but never forgotten. His legacy and the love of Eurovision

:16:11.:16:14.

that he inspired in so many of us will live on. Now, back to business

:16:15.:16:20.

full stop important news. The vote is now closed. That said, please

:16:21.:16:28.

don't try to vote now, as it won't count and you may still be charged.

:16:29.:16:35.

Lovely, lovely stuff of Sir Terry in that footage there. Carrie, you were

:16:36.:16:40.

an entrant at the Eurovision in 1983. What memories have you got of

:16:41.:16:44.

Sir Terry? You've got to remember these were the days when we only had

:16:45.:16:48.

about three or four TV channels, so he was a legend. He was a giant in

:16:49.:16:53.

our industry back in the days when they really were giants. He was the

:16:54.:16:57.

most encouraging man. Me and my band, I was only 17 at the time, he

:16:58.:17:01.

was so encouraging. I remember him in Munich, we spent a week with him

:17:02.:17:06.

singing on the dance floor going, oh my gosh, there's Terry Wogan damn

:17:07.:17:11.

thing in a discotheque. Adorable, a lovely man. -- damn thing in a

:17:12.:17:21.

discotheque. Katrina, you must have got to know Terry quite well? Toure

:17:22.:17:25.

was wonderful company, he knew how to mix a black velvet, champagne and

:17:26.:17:29.

Guinness, and he taught me how to smoke a bad cigar as well. Rock and

:17:30.:17:34.

roll, Katrina, let's raise a glass to him now. Now, it's going to take,

:17:35.:17:40.

they literally are, let's raise a glass.

:17:41.:17:41.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE OK, it's going to take a moment to

:17:42.:17:45.

count and verify all the votes that have come in, but while we do that,

:17:46.:17:51.

have I got a little treat for you? Yes. Last year was the 60th

:17:52.:17:56.

anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, and we threw a big party,

:17:57.:17:59.

hosted by Graham Norton and Petra Mede. And starring some of the most

:18:00.:18:05.

famous past winners. Let's take a look, see how many you can spot.

:18:06.:18:11.

Ladies and gentlemen, brotherhood of man.

:18:12.:18:18.

# It's impossible to say but there's one thing I must say before I go

:18:19.:18:23.

# I love you # I view

:18:24.:18:31.

# Your cute little ways where you promise you will say

:18:32.:18:39.

# Your kisses for Missy, -- save all your kisses for me

:18:40.:18:44.

# Bye-bye baby, bye-bye # Don't cry, honey, don't cry

:18:45.:18:51.

# When you save them for me # Even though you are only three #.

:18:52.:19:03.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Ladies and gentlemen, from

:19:04.:19:05.

Denmark... Welcome to London. # In the summertime

:19:06.:19:27.

# When the moon shines right -- bright

:19:28.:19:29.

# There's just one more thing I'd like to add

:19:30.:19:35.

# She's the greatest love I ever had # You all think fantastically well

:19:36.:19:52.

# Fly, baby, fly # #.

:19:53.:20:01.

London, we love you. Our next performers are from my

:20:02.:20:08.

homeland, Sweden. It is not Abba. They begged to come, but with such a

:20:09.:20:12.

packed show we just couldn't fit them in. Please welcome...

:20:13.:20:22.

# The legend of thunder # The magic of wonder

:20:23.:20:28.

# Couldn't believe I was dreaming # Couldn't believe it was true

:20:29.:20:57.

# I can be whatever I choose #. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:20:58.:21:02.

Get ready, it's Bobby Sox. # Let its thing... -- let it thing

:21:03.:21:43.

off let it swing # Rock and roll #.

:21:44.:21:57.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE St Johnny Logan.

:21:58.:22:03.

# Hold me now # Don't cry

:22:04.:22:05.

# Don't say a word # Hold me now

:22:06.:22:13.

# And try to understand # I hope at

:22:14.:22:20.

you've been searching for #. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:22:21.:22:29.

# Mine, my song to asked # At Waterloo Napoleon did surrender

:22:30.:22:32.

# Oh, you're # And I met my destiny

:22:33.:22:49.

# The history book on the shelf # Waterloo

:22:50.:22:58.

# Couldn't escape if I wanted to # Waterloo

:22:59.:23:06.

# Finally feting my Waterloo -- finally facing my Waterloo #.

:23:07.:23:16.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Oh, that was a cracker of a night!

:23:17.:23:22.

And, of course, Graham's co-host there, Petra, will be co-hosting

:23:23.:23:29.

this year's Song contest. Along with Mans, my new meatball friend in

:23:30.:23:34.

Stockholm. Now, let's thank all of our acts for their incredible

:23:35.:23:38.

performances, all the passion, energy and enthusiasm they have

:23:39.:23:42.

given us tonight. These guys have done all they can. Six expertly

:23:43.:23:49.

crafted songs, from superb song writers. But it's what you have

:23:50.:23:54.

decided that matters, and now, there is nothing left to do but to find

:23:55.:24:03.

out all-important result. So, we have counted and verified the

:24:04.:24:06.

results. We can't take all of you with us to Stockholm. Paul and Mary

:24:07.:24:13.

have decided that this week's Star Baker is... Sorry, wrong show, wrong

:24:14.:24:24.

show! I can now reveal that the winner and the UK representative for

:24:25.:24:28.

Eurovision 2016 is... Jail and Jake. Congratulations --

:24:29.:24:57.

Joe and Jake, you are the people's choice. You are off to Stockholm, to

:24:58.:25:02.

represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Joel

:25:03.:25:09.

and Jake, come on over here, my love. Come on over here. There's a

:25:10.:25:15.

lot of love, there is a lot of hugging. Joe and Jake, now, listen.

:25:16.:25:21.

How does that feel, my love? I can't even talk. It feels amazing. I just

:25:22.:25:26.

want to crowd is absolutely incredible. Thank you. Literally,

:25:27.:25:30.

for everyone back home who has voted, thank you so much. We are so

:25:31.:25:35.

proud. We are going to represent the UK, so thank you. We are going to

:25:36.:25:39.

get to know to know these two very well over the coming months. I have

:25:40.:25:44.

to ask you, which one is Joe and which one is Jake? I'm Joe. I'm

:25:45.:25:51.

Jake. They will remember. We can't wait to see you in Stockholm. Are

:25:52.:25:55.

you looking forward to Stockholm? It's going to be incredible, I hope

:25:56.:26:01.

we make you all proud. Have you been to Stockholm before? We've never

:26:02.:26:04.

been to Stockholm, there's a first time for everything. How are you

:26:05.:26:09.

going to celebrate your victory now? We're not going to celebrate, we are

:26:10.:26:13.

going to start working on our song. Home so we can win. Are you going to

:26:14.:26:20.

throw out the moustache, or sort of take it off? If I could grow one, I

:26:21.:26:25.

could, but this is about as good as it gets me. It's a very fine

:26:26.:26:29.

moustache indeed. Commiserations to everyone else, you were fantastic.

:26:30.:26:34.

Joe and Jake, we would love to see you perform again, so you go off my

:26:35.:26:39.

loves and get ready for that all-important performance. Now,

:26:40.:26:45.

these guys here have put on one heck of a show tonight, with so much

:26:46.:26:49.

talent on display it's a shame there can only be one winner. I mean that

:26:50.:26:54.

seriously, you are all amazing. Incredible songs, superb

:26:55.:26:57.

performances, and you guys have shown just what great music talent

:26:58.:27:02.

we have here in the UK. So one last round of applause. For our brilliant

:27:03.:27:06.

performers. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:27:07.:27:14.

Well done. Now, guys, listen. I don't want there to be any sadness

:27:15.:27:19.

in this gang. You have all done extremely well, and I know that you

:27:20.:27:23.

have got amazing careers ahead of you. OK? So no sadness, good.

:27:24.:27:29.

Lovely. I just wanted to check that. I needed, that's my care of duty.

:27:30.:27:35.

Now, thank you so much everybody for being here. What a night. I hope

:27:36.:27:40.

that you had as much fun at home as we did here. That's almost it, but

:27:41.:27:45.

there will be more Eurovision for you at 8pm on the 10th and 12th of

:27:46.:27:51.

May, when Scott Mills and I will be here on BBC Four, with the

:27:52.:27:54.

Eurovision Semi-Finals. I can't wait. And by the way, don't miss a

:27:55.:27:59.

live interview with Joe and Jake with Graham Norton tomorrow on Radio

:28:00.:28:04.

Two. But for now, let's close the show with the act that you have

:28:05.:28:13.

chosen. Your winners it's Joe and Jake performing You're Not Alone.

:28:14.:28:14.

See you in May! Bye-bye. # Heartbeat, when you're not

:28:15.:28:20.

around it's beating slow. # And it's something that

:28:21.:28:24.

I've never known, oh-oh. # I'll be, I'll be the answer

:28:25.:28:32.

you've been waiting for. # I'll be the truth that you've

:28:33.:28:37.

been looking for, oh-oh. # You're not alone,

:28:38.:28:46.

we're in this together. # All that you want

:28:47.:28:50.

is right here forever. # And they don't need

:28:51.:28:53.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # And they don't

:28:54.:28:58.

need to know, oh-oh. # You're not alone,

:28:59.:29:01.

we're in this together. # All that you want,

:29:02.:29:04.

I'm right here forever. # And they don't need

:29:05.:29:08.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # And they don't

:29:09.:29:12.

need to know, oh-oh. # You're free, free to let go 'cos

:29:13.:29:17.

I'll be here for you. # And when you fall I'll

:29:18.:29:22.

be your parachute, oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm

:29:23.:29:32.

dancing in the sky, I, I. # You're not alone,

:29:33.:29:37.

we're in this together. # All that you want is right

:29:38.:29:49.

here forever. # And they don't need

:29:50.:29:53.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm

:29:54.:29:57.

dancing in the sky, I, I. # Don't speak, your smile

:29:58.:30:05.

tells me all I need to know. # Your eyes show me

:30:06.:30:22.

where I wanna go, oh-oh. # You're not alone, we're

:30:23.:30:31.

in this together. # All that you want

:30:32.:30:34.

is right here forever. # And they don't need

:30:35.:30:38.

to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm

:30:39.:30:46.

dancing in the sky, I, I.
