The Home Secretary Theresa May is considering banning extremist

groups, even if they're not directly involved in terrorism.

Writing in a newspaper, Mrs May says the beheading

of the American journalist James Foley demonstrates what she

called the "deadly threat we face from terrorism at home and abroad".

for almost two months now. The UN envoy warning that there could be a

massacre there if there is no intervention to save these people.

So growing concern. It is surrounded by Islamic State so it is not clear

who might intervene to break that siege.

There had been air strikes overnight. This man said he was at

home with his wife and children. They heard explosions and Ricks

people were killed overnight and dozens more injured. Hospitals

struggled to deal with those hurt. This was the aftermath of an earlier

Hamas mortar attack which killed an Israeli child. The fourth civilian

campaign in Gaza as a result. After a lull, the violence and casualties

have been steadily increasing. Today the Palestinian president called for

peace talks to resume immediately. He told a news conference he wanted

them to start in Cairo immediately to avoid war casualties and

sacrifice. Israel has yet to respond to the call. The cycle of violence

has been renewed and there is little evidence yet that there is enough of
