The controversy about whether countries such as Turkey

should join the European Union is further fuelling

Today David Cameron attacked a claim by one of his own ministers,

who suggested Britain had no veto over Turkish accession.

Elsewhere there are conflicting claims about the state of the NHS,

Our Political Correspondent, Ellie Price, reports.

civilians, Afghan security forces. Shinty took over, there has been an

increase in violence in Afghanistan. This was the aftermath of a suicide

bombing in the capital last month. The Americans say that Mullah

Mansour had been actively involved in planning attacks. The Afghan

government hopes his death will deliver a major blow to the Taliban.

TRANSLATION: He was a barrier for the peace talks and from the date he

was announced as the Taliban leader, he was behind lots of violence

against the Afghan people. The vacuum crated by the death of Mullah

Mansour could now lead to a battle for succession, but what impact will

it have? The killing has been greeted with relief on the streets

of the capital. TRANSLATION: It's happy news. I think the more Taliban

leaders are killed, the more stability they will be. But the

question in Lima is what effect it will actually have on their

arriving at Old Trafford, that takes things to a whole new level.
