the referendum. Referenda are expensive undertakings and we

estimate that the average cost of an average size police force would be

1.6 million. They're not just expensive, they are lengthy and I

think we're talking about people who are elected, directly elected by the

people here and to have to make them go through that additional aspect of

a referendum when the ad already mandated by the people, I think not

be a wise time. My Lords, that is a remedy to PCC 's doing entirely what

is not the best interest of the local people artistry vote them out

at the next election. -- and that is to vote them out of the next

election. I have gone back. Amendment 49 makes provision for the

PCC to publish the outcome of the consultation on the local business

case. I recognise the important principle behind this amendment and

I'm also sympathetic to it. It is generally considered good practice

for public body to be clear and transparent about the outcome of any

public consultation and we would not expect a PCC takes behave any

differently in The Simpsons. Accordingly I would be prepared to

consider this in advance of postage. -- in this instance. And 55, I help

almost be given that local authorities would be involved in the
