Commons has been cleared of rape and other sex charges. Goodbye. | :00:00. | :00:00.
Tonight, on Reporting Scotland. Detectives identify a suspect after | :00:00. | :00:10.
a woman is stabbed to death and left her partner wounded at their Glasgow | :00:11. | :00:16.
home in a car-jacking attempt. Dealing with abuse on the internet. | :00:17. | :00:19.
The Lord Advocate says new legislation is needed to deal with | :00:20. | :00:25.
the problem. Coming in to land - the world's | :00:26. | :00:28.
largest passenger airliner touches down at Glasgow Airport. Join me on | :00:29. | :00:44.
board the plane and find out what is in store when you climb the stairs. | :00:45. | :00:47.
We'll be looking at the future of long-haul travel in Scotland. Also | :00:48. | :00:50.
on the programme, why Scotland's football team are on the up and up - | :00:51. | :00:54.
we're now at 22 in FIFA's rankings. And making the kelpies a reality. | :00:55. | :00:58.
The epic film capturing the huge construction project. | :00:59. | :01:15.
Good evening. Detectives believe they've | :01:16. | :01:18.
identified a suspect in connection with the murder of a woman at her | :01:19. | :01:22.
home in the Crookston area of Glasgow. 51-year-old Isabelle | :01:23. | :01:24.
Sanders was stabbed to death in the early hours of yesterday morning. | :01:25. | :01:31.
Her 85-year-old partner, Norman Busby, was seriously injured in the | :01:32. | :01:36.
attack. Police have linked the murder to a stabbing two hours | :01:37. | :01:39.
earlier at a nearby shop. Julie Peacock reports. | :01:40. | :01:45.
The police guard outside this home is the only sign this was the scene | :01:46. | :01:49.
of a sustained and violent knife attack against a defenceless couple. | :01:50. | :01:54.
Police say they have a suspect in mind and are following a positive | :01:55. | :01:58.
line of inquiry. They are linking the murderer to an earlier attempt | :01:59. | :02:02.
to steal a car from outside a nearby shop. In that incident, the | :02:03. | :02:07.
33-year-old driver was stabbed by a man with a knife. That person was | :02:08. | :02:14.
last seen running off towards Howes Hill Park. A very similar | :02:15. | :02:20.
description, 700 yards from here. And we believe they are now linked. | :02:21. | :02:25.
There is a mark of desperation which again appears to be similar to what | :02:26. | :02:30.
happened at this address. Eyewitnesses say the driver was | :02:31. | :02:33.
attacked just after 11pm on Tuesday evening. He said, somebody try to | :02:34. | :02:44.
steal my car. And we shot the shop doors. There was blood on the floor. | :02:45. | :02:54.
Somebody try to put the knife in his leg. Isabelle Sanders was murdered | :02:55. | :02:59.
just a couple of hours later. Police say this may have been a failed | :03:00. | :03:04.
attempt to steal the couple's car which has been taken away for | :03:05. | :03:07.
forensic analysis. Police have found no reason why this couple were | :03:08. | :03:13.
targeted. A neighbour told me today how he heard Norman Busby's alarm go | :03:14. | :03:17.
off and rushed to help the couple. When he got here, he said he was | :03:18. | :03:23.
horrified at what he saw. He said it was too late to save Isabelle | :03:24. | :03:26.
Sanders but Norman Busby told him he had and served the door to a man who | :03:27. | :03:30.
had perished in and attacked them. Isabelle Sanders' partner is still | :03:31. | :03:35.
in the high dependency unit in hospital, police say he is | :03:36. | :03:40.
recovering. They point out if it was not for the swift medical care they | :03:41. | :03:43.
received, this could easily have been a double murder. | :03:44. | :03:49.
And Julie Peacock joins us from the scene of the murder now. What's the | :03:50. | :03:55.
latest in the investigation, Julie? This is an investigation that is | :03:56. | :04:00.
very much still ongoing. Earlier, we saw forensic teams leave the house | :04:01. | :04:04.
with bags of evidence. While the police say they have a suspect in | :04:05. | :04:08.
mind, there are still some people they would like to speak to, the | :04:09. | :04:11.
first of them was a taxi driver who was possibly in the skull around the | :04:12. | :04:16.
time of the attack. They want to want to speak to him in case he saw | :04:17. | :04:20.
anything crucial. They want to speak to a driver who was on the Crookston | :04:21. | :04:25.
Road behind this estate. He may have had to swerve to avoid the suspect | :04:26. | :04:29.
and they also want to speak to him as well. Police are pointing out | :04:30. | :04:36.
that the suspect carried out a violent attack and they believe he | :04:37. | :04:39.
would have had some blood on his clothing so they are asking anybody | :04:40. | :04:43.
who saw somebody matching the description of a man between the age | :04:44. | :04:48.
of 20 and 30 with bloodstained clothing to contact them. Thanks | :04:49. | :04:54.
very much. It's a form of internet abuse that's | :04:55. | :04:58.
on the increase in Scotland, and today the Lord Advocate, Frank | :04:59. | :05:00.
Mulholland, called for new legislation to deal with the | :05:01. | :05:03.
problem. It's known as Revenge Porn, and involves people posting explicit | :05:04. | :05:06.
pictures and videos of their former partners online. Our political | :05:07. | :05:09.
correspondent Lucy Adams is here with me in the studio. So what | :05:10. | :05:14.
exactly are we talking about, Lucy? In some countries it's described as | :05:15. | :05:17.
virtual rape. It involves people uploading sexually explicit content | :05:18. | :05:20.
of ex-partners without their permission. It is a massive reach of | :05:21. | :05:26.
trust. It affects adult and children. Victims talk about feeling | :05:27. | :05:32.
abused when people click on an image. Some victims have committed | :05:33. | :05:35.
suicide as a result. The Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland has today | :05:36. | :05:37.
called for new, "bespoke" legislation to tackle the distress, | :05:38. | :05:45.
upset and humiliation for victims. He says he wants to send out a | :05:46. | :05:49.
strong message that this will not be tolerated in Scotland. I think there | :05:50. | :05:56.
is a need for it, it is becoming more and more common, we are seeing | :05:57. | :05:59.
laws being passed across the world, a number of states in the US have | :06:00. | :06:04.
passed revenge porn registration. In Australia, Brazil and other | :06:05. | :06:10.
countries, they are bringing forward legislation to be able to deal with | :06:11. | :06:13.
it. I would not like Scotland to be at the end of the line. There is a | :06:14. | :06:16.
need for this legislation to be passed in Scotland. What has been | :06:17. | :06:24.
the reaction to this? Campaigners have welcomed the move, but say | :06:25. | :06:27.
legislation alone cannot address the problem. They seek greater controls | :06:28. | :06:29.
of the internet and awareness-raising. How website hosts | :06:30. | :06:35.
deal with this. They want to see police, prosecutors and websites to | :06:36. | :06:45.
crack down on the problem. Reported to the police. Get a friend to | :06:46. | :06:52.
witness it. It is difficult because it is not pleasant to do because of | :06:53. | :06:55.
the images, but it is not your fault, it is not the fact that you | :06:56. | :07:00.
have had this image taken, it is the fact that it has been nonconsensual | :07:01. | :07:03.
Lee and maliciously shared or put out there to shame and upset and | :07:04. | :07:07.
abuse it. For the growing number of victims, this will be a welcome | :07:08. | :07:10.
development but ultimately policing the internet remains a daunting | :07:11. | :07:15.
task. Revenge by ex-partners is not a modern phenomenon but the World | :07:16. | :07:19.
Wide Web has taken it to another level. Thank you very much indeed. | :07:20. | :07:28.
An A380 super jumbo has landed in Scotland for the first time and | :07:29. | :07:32.
large crowds turned out to watch it touch down at Glasgow. Our transport | :07:33. | :07:35.
correspondent, David Miller was with them. | :07:36. | :07:42.
Flying into Glasgow and a place in Scottish aviation history. The pilot | :07:43. | :07:49.
a local boy from Clydebank clearly relished every minute. It was great, | :07:50. | :07:58.
it was a delight. What is she like to fly? Beautiful. She is very light | :07:59. | :08:02.
and responsive than just a joy to fly. Everything about this aircraft | :08:03. | :08:10.
is huge, it can comparably carry more 500 passengers. And it has a | :08:11. | :08:17.
wingspan of 18 metres. There is a big question as well. Will this | :08:18. | :08:21.
aircraft returned to Scotland's skies any time soon? We are happy we | :08:22. | :08:27.
are here, delighted. We don't have immediate plans to change anything, | :08:28. | :08:37.
it is not on the agenda. 8080 is not set to be a regular visitor. But | :08:38. | :08:43.
Scotland's two busiest airports are fighting hard to win new long haul | :08:44. | :08:50.
routes and attract bigger aircraft. We have created another first year | :08:51. | :08:53.
in Scottish aviation history. Glasgow has regularly got the second | :08:54. | :08:57.
and third largest passenger aircraft on the ground here but today we | :08:58. | :09:00.
brought the biggest passenger aircraft to the ground. By the | :09:01. | :09:08.
summer, we will have six long haul hubs, for in North America, | :09:09. | :09:13.
Istanbul, with Turkish airlines, and cut doodle half. That is huge | :09:14. | :09:18.
progression. The super jumble is already on its way back to Dubai. | :09:19. | :09:24.
Leaving this guys over Glasgow Airport feeling empty this evening. | :09:25. | :09:31.
-- Qatar to Doha. You're watching Reporting Scotland | :09:32. | :09:34.
from the BBC. Still to come on tonight's programme. Find out what | :09:35. | :09:38.
the civilian plan was, if the Cold War had turned into nuclear war. | :09:39. | :09:41.
In sport, further evidence of our national football team's improvement | :09:42. | :09:45.
- and it's scientific. Sort of. And why Dundee United's manager | :09:46. | :09:47.
might miss their semifinal against Rangers on Saturday. | :09:48. | :10:00.
The Scottish National Party is gathering in Aberdeen for its final | :10:01. | :10:04.
party conference before the referendum on independence in | :10:05. | :10:07.
September. The core message from the conference will be that Scotland | :10:08. | :10:09.
"can, should and must" be independent. Our political editor | :10:10. | :10:14.
Brian Taylor is in Aberdeen tonight. What's the theme going to be, Brian? | :10:15. | :10:23.
Or have I just articulated it? You got it in one. Party conferences can | :10:24. | :10:29.
be a fairly eclectic mix of the range of debates and topics. There | :10:30. | :10:33.
is only one purpose for this conference. It is a countdown on the | :10:34. | :10:41.
platform behind me. It is the referendum in September, at the | :10:42. | :10:45.
18th, I asked Nicola Sturgeon, the deputy leader of the party, to spell | :10:46. | :10:49.
out what she saw as the conference theme. We will set out that Scotland | :10:50. | :10:55.
can be independent. We would be the 14th richest country in the world, | :10:56. | :10:59.
we will set out that we should be independent to give us the powers we | :11:00. | :11:03.
need to make Scotland a better place to live, a more prosperous and | :11:04. | :11:08.
fairer society. I am setting out that we must be independent because | :11:09. | :11:11.
the alternative is continuing to have decisions taken at Westminster, | :11:12. | :11:15.
often by the government to redo not vote for. Mrs Sturgeon says that | :11:16. | :11:22.
Scotland is better off in the UK. In terms of the conference, it gets | :11:23. | :11:26.
under way tomorrow. One of the first items on the agenda will be a | :11:27. | :11:30.
tribute from Alex Salmond to the late Margo MacDonald. Thank you very | :11:31. | :11:35.
much. The Deputy First Minister Nicola | :11:36. | :11:38.
Sturgeon has defended the plan to demolish Glasgow's Red Road flats as | :11:39. | :11:42.
part of the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games. Ms Sturgeon told | :11:43. | :11:45.
BBC Scotland it was a "good idea" to feature the revitalisation of | :11:46. | :11:48.
Glasgow in the opening event. But Ms Sturgeon also said it was important | :11:49. | :11:52.
to listen to the people of Glasgow - including those who have expressed | :11:53. | :12:00.
strong opposition to the plan. 700 new jobs have been confirmed by | :12:01. | :12:03.
offshore firm Statoil after it selected a new UK North Sea head | :12:04. | :12:06.
office in Aberdeen. The base at Kingswells will be the operations | :12:07. | :12:09.
centre for developing the Mariner field, creating 200 onshore and 500 | :12:10. | :12:17.
offshore jobs. The field is nearly 100 miles east of Shetland. | :12:18. | :12:24.
This week on Reporting Scotland we're been looking at changes to the | :12:25. | :12:27.
welfare state. Campaigners say disabled people are being | :12:28. | :12:29.
disproportionately affected - creating uncertainty and poverty. | :12:30. | :12:31.
However, the UK Government believe the changes are needed to cut the | :12:32. | :12:35.
welfare bill and ensure the cash goes to those most in need. Our | :12:36. | :12:38.
reporter Ian Hamilton's been finding out how the Work Capability | :12:39. | :12:41.
Assessment is affecting those with mental health problems. | :12:42. | :12:48.
Here at this trust in Glasgow, they support people with long-term mental | :12:49. | :12:51.
health problems. It's a disability you can't see and because of this, | :12:52. | :12:54.
they believe they are unfairly treated by the work capability | :12:55. | :12:58.
assessment. Many will be able to work but, for Eddie, employment is | :12:59. | :13:07.
unlikely for the near future. I have got psychological problems. I have | :13:08. | :13:13.
anxiety and depression. After guard Naval Hospital, I went to the | :13:14. | :13:16.
Southern General Hospital and they treated me. | :13:17. | :13:18.
The people who carry out these assessments are not medically | :13:19. | :13:21.
qualified but they can spot an obvious physical disability. -- | :13:22. | :13:26.
Gartnavel Hospital. It is very difficult without knowing someone's | :13:27. | :13:28.
background and mental health history to understand how mental health can | :13:29. | :13:31.
affect your ability to move back into the workplace. | :13:32. | :13:35.
In the building behind me, they hold the work capability assessments, | :13:36. | :13:38.
which began in 2008 under the last Labour government. They were | :13:39. | :13:41.
criticised then and the criticism has continued under the current | :13:42. | :13:45.
coalition government. A great deal of that criticism has come from GPs, | :13:46. | :13:49.
particularly in the way patients with mental health problems have | :13:50. | :13:56.
been treated. Because of incorrect decisions that | :13:57. | :13:59.
they are fit for work, it isn't good for people and is damaging to the | :14:00. | :14:03.
health of some of the poorest and most vulnerable people. | :14:04. | :14:06.
The UK Government say that a series of independent reviews they have | :14:07. | :14:09.
made will make improvements to the process for people with mental | :14:10. | :14:12.
health problems and they are also working with mental health experts | :14:13. | :14:15.
and charities to make the work capability assessment fairer and | :14:16. | :14:19.
more accurate. Over time, the Government is working | :14:20. | :14:23.
to fine-tune the assessment so we can cut the number of appeals and | :14:24. | :14:26.
get the decision right the first time, rather than have to go to | :14:27. | :14:31.
appeal. People say here that there is a | :14:32. | :14:35.
stigma attached to mental health, so it will require a change of attitude | :14:36. | :14:38.
by employers, not just a tightening of the benefit rules, to get people | :14:39. | :14:45.
into work. A look now at other stories from | :14:46. | :14:50.
around Scotland. A woman has died, after a car she | :14:51. | :14:54.
was in crashed into the Caledonian Canal near Fort William. The | :14:55. | :14:57.
incident happened at a flight of locks known as Neptune's Staircase | :14:58. | :14:59.
yesterday afternoon. Police aren't treating the woman's death as | :15:00. | :15:02.
suspicious and her identity is being withheld until all next-of-kin are | :15:03. | :15:07.
told. The Health and Safety Executive is | :15:08. | :15:10.
investigating after a fire broke out on a North Sea oil platform that's | :15:11. | :15:14.
already been warned about safety. The HSE had already issued two | :15:15. | :15:16.
improvement notices to CNR International, after an incident at | :15:17. | :15:19.
the Tiffany platform north-east of Aberdeen in January. The latest fire | :15:20. | :15:26.
was last Sunday. Research estimates that 306 people | :15:27. | :15:30.
died in Glasgow in 2010 as a result of air pollution. The figures come | :15:31. | :15:35.
as part of a breakdown of pollution mortality figures by council area. | :15:36. | :15:40.
Edinburgh is estimated to have had just over 200 deaths, while Orkney | :15:41. | :15:49.
and Shetland have the least. In relative terms, Scotland is | :15:50. | :15:53.
suffering less from the effects of air pollution than other parts of | :15:54. | :15:56.
the UK so I think there is an encouraging message there that we | :15:57. | :15:58.
can do more. An 80-year old Fife theatre could | :15:59. | :16:00.
re-open permanently, after St Andrews University proposed a major | :16:01. | :16:04.
rescue package. The campaign to save the struggling Byre Theatre was | :16:05. | :16:07.
backed by Sir Sean Connery, but it was forced to close last year. Now | :16:08. | :16:12.
the university has come up with a plan to save the council-owned | :16:13. | :16:15.
venue. Oor Wullie comic annuals are for | :16:16. | :16:18.
sale, alongside paintings by leading Scots colourists, in the 15th annual | :16:19. | :16:21.
Scottish sale at the auctioneers, Bonhams. Bonhams. The sale aims to | :16:22. | :16:32.
bring together the best of all things Scottish and features | :16:33. | :16:34.
everything from furniture to ceramics. | :16:35. | :16:39.
The crisis in Ukraine has led to talk of a new Cold War. In the real | :16:40. | :16:45.
Cold War Scotland's civil authorities made plans for what | :16:46. | :16:48.
they'd do if there was a nuclear conflict. October 1962. The world on | :16:49. | :16:59.
the brink of nuclear war. In those days, some still thought the impact | :17:00. | :17:04.
of a nuclear attack could be minimised. For years, Scottish | :17:05. | :17:09.
councils had been working out how to try to go. The archives of the old | :17:10. | :17:16.
City of Glasgow Corporation paint a fascinating but chilling picture. | :17:17. | :17:18.
Many formerly secret documents from the late 1940s through to the | :17:19. | :17:21.
mid-1960s are carefully preserved here. | :17:22. | :17:23.
This is a very careful planning process. It's a very dangerous | :17:24. | :17:28.
threat, or so they thought in the 1950s and 1960s. | :17:29. | :17:34.
One of the most chilling files is a secret report from the Home Office | :17:35. | :17:38.
produced in 1953. It presumes that an atomic bomb has exploded 2000 | :17:39. | :17:41.
feet above where I'm standing at Glasgow Bridge. 60,000 killed, | :17:42. | :17:48.
20,000 injured, the immediate area devastated. The report warned there | :17:49. | :17:53.
could be grave problems rescuing the injured from collapsed tenements but | :17:54. | :17:56.
also suggested that their weight could give more protection from | :17:57. | :18:07.
radiation for survivors. Another document dates from the time of the | :18:08. | :18:13.
Cuban crisis. It looks at how children or the elderly could have | :18:14. | :18:20.
been evacuated to rural areas. A few years later, the Russian prime | :18:21. | :18:23.
minister got a warm welcome in Glasgow. But the Cold War would | :18:24. | :18:31.
continue for 30 more years. Let's get the sport now. | :18:32. | :18:37.
Scotland have risen up the FIFA rankings to 22nd in the world. After | :18:38. | :18:41.
five matches unbeaten Gordon Strachan's side have soared 15 | :18:42. | :18:45.
places this quarter - more than any other nation in the world! So is | :18:46. | :18:48.
this a major sign of progress, or are the FIFA rankings bonkers? There | :18:49. | :18:58.
has been plenty of ups and downs in the rankings for Scotland. 12 years | :18:59. | :19:05.
ago, Scotland slipped to 86. Under Walter Smith, a revival. When Alex | :19:06. | :19:18.
McLeish took over, 15th. Scots reached as high as position 30. But | :19:19. | :19:24.
then headed in the wrong direction under George Burley. There has been | :19:25. | :19:31.
no stone unturned. This is something to get excited about. It is | :19:32. | :19:34.
justified in the results we have had. | :19:35. | :19:41.
By the time Gordon Strachan took the helm, Scotland were ranked 77th in | :19:42. | :19:48.
the world. That makes today's rise to 22nd in the world all the more | :19:49. | :19:53.
remarkable. The problem is that the rankings are a bit crazy. If | :19:54. | :20:04.
Scotland win the next match, they will actually fall down the | :20:05. | :20:06.
rankings. 22nd in the world might not win the | :20:07. | :20:14.
World Cup but it does add something to the revival under Gordon | :20:15. | :20:17.
Strachan. Dundee United manager Jackie | :20:18. | :20:19.
McNamara's been banned for three matches for the repeated use of | :20:20. | :20:22.
offensive insulting and abusive language during a touchline spat | :20:23. | :20:25.
with St Johnstone's Tommy Wright. The Saints boss was given a one | :20:26. | :20:28.
match suspended ban. United are considering appealing against the | :20:29. | :20:31.
ban.if they don't McNamara will miss the Scottish Cup semifinal against | :20:32. | :20:37.
Rangers. He has some interesting thoughts on that tie. There is a lot | :20:38. | :20:44.
been said and written this week in the media. Trying to start things | :20:45. | :20:50.
up. On the back of Rangers's result last week. A lot of people have | :20:51. | :20:55.
turned on the team. For us, nothing changes. | :20:56. | :20:59.
It's day one of the Masters - no TV pictures yet - but the two Scots | :21:00. | :21:03.
taking part are doing well. Stephen Gallacher went to underpar, | :21:04. | :21:13.
one ahead of Sandy Lyle in 19 88. Now we can update you on what else | :21:14. | :21:21.
is happening on Scottish sport. Scotland have made it six wins from | :21:22. | :21:25.
six matches in the Women's World cup qualifiers. Winning 3-1 in Bosnia | :21:26. | :21:27.
this afternoon. Jane Ross scoring all three goals. The Scots top their | :21:28. | :21:30.
group. Former world 100 metres record | :21:31. | :21:32.
holder Asafa Powell's been banned for doping so will miss the Glasgow | :21:33. | :21:36.
2014 Games.The Jamacian won't be able to compete again till the end | :21:37. | :21:38.
of the year. Edinburgh Rugby's head coach has | :21:39. | :21:41.
thrown his support behind the creation of a third professional | :21:42. | :21:44.
team in Scotland. At the moment Glasgow Warriors are the only other | :21:45. | :21:50.
pro side. From a rugby point of view, a third | :21:51. | :21:57.
club would be of value. Britain's para-cyclists are in | :21:58. | :22:00.
Mexico for the World Championships - among the competitors is a Scot | :22:01. | :22:03.
tipped for gold at the Commonwealth Games - he's keeping an eye on medal | :22:04. | :22:10.
rivals. We have stiff competition from the | :22:11. | :22:16.
us billions. A good chance to practice. | :22:17. | :22:17.
Olympic silver medallist Micheal Jamieson swims in the final of the | :22:18. | :22:21.
200 metres breaststroke at the British Championships in Glasgow | :22:22. | :22:23.
tonight. He's already qualified for Glasgow 2014. | :22:24. | :22:27.
More on Scotland's ascent up the world rankings - and all the | :22:28. | :22:30.
breaking stories on the BBC Sport Scotland website. | :22:31. | :22:39.
Some breaking news: Rugby's European cup will be the European champions | :22:40. | :22:46.
cup from next season. Scotland will be guaranteed one place. Two places | :22:47. | :22:52.
if Glasgow and Edinburgh finish in the top six of the April 12 league. | :22:53. | :23:03.
That is all the sport. A time-lapsed film of the | :23:04. | :23:06.
construction of the giant steel horse-heads known as the Kelpies has | :23:07. | :23:09.
been released today. We've been speaking to the man who made the | :23:10. | :23:14.
film about how he did it. The filming technique we use is unique. | :23:15. | :23:22.
Hopefully it matches the sculptures themselves. We take photographs and | :23:23. | :23:33.
use them like sculpture. We frame every single photograph. It is quite | :23:34. | :23:42.
difficult. Moving inches at a time. Nothing is computer-generated. It is | :23:43. | :23:51.
not greedy. It is all real. Camera movement is done by hand. 95% by | :23:52. | :24:01.
hand. The light is just as the camera sees it. No effects. Some was | :24:02. | :24:09.
shot in January. We wanted night-time shots. In the summer, you | :24:10. | :24:18.
do not get darkness. Some of the best shots in the film where | :24:19. | :24:22.
miserable, cold nights. But I think it was worth it. I think the Kelpies | :24:23. | :24:30.
are amazing. I spent a lot of nights filming them. Trying to capture | :24:31. | :24:34.
their qualities. I hope the film does them justice. I think people | :24:35. | :24:41.
should go and see them. Not just in the daytime, but at night. | :24:42. | :24:54.
More sunshine around this evening than they ever had for most of the | :24:55. | :25:01.
day. We have finally gotten rid of that bank of stubborn cloud plaguing | :25:02. | :25:07.
Scotland for such a long time. We will keep a scattering of showers | :25:08. | :25:12.
across the North. Overnight, they become confined to the northern and | :25:13. | :25:15.
western aisles. Elsewhere, drying with clear spells. Turning Chile as | :25:16. | :25:26.
skies are clear. Low temperatures, so some frost as well. A chilly | :25:27. | :25:31.
start tomorrow. But fine and dry and bright. Still some showers over the | :25:32. | :25:41.
north and west. Even here, we lose most of that during the morning. In | :25:42. | :25:45.
the afternoon, some lovely spring weather. We may see cloud coming in | :25:46. | :26:07.
from the West. Towards the end of the afternoon, rain in the West. | :26:08. | :26:18.
Towards tomorrow evening, the rain pushes across much of the country. | :26:19. | :26:22.
As we head into Saturday, the weather front moves, tracking across | :26:23. | :26:35.
the country. An improvement for the afternoon. It will stay blustery. On | :26:36. | :26:47.
Sunday, a brisk westerly airflow. Rain in the West. Sunshine in the | :26:48. | :26:53.
East. Thanks. Now, a reminder of tonight's | :26:54. | :27:02.
main news. Police believe they've identified a | :27:03. | :27:05.
suspect in connection with the murder of a woman at her home in | :27:06. | :27:09.
Glasgow. Detectives have also linked the murder to a stabbing two hours | :27:10. | :27:13.
earlier at a nearby shop. Nigel Evans, the former House of | :27:14. | :27:16.
Commons deputy speaker, has been cleared of a string of sexual | :27:17. | :27:19.
offences including one count of rape. The MP for Ribble Valley broke | :27:20. | :27:22.
down in tears when the not guilty verdicts were read out but says he | :27:23. | :27:26.
now wants to get back to his parliamentary work. | :27:27. | :27:33.
And that's Reporting Scotland. Have a very good evening. | :27:34. | :27:43. |
