Thousands of cyclists have taken to the streets of Edinburgh demanding

that the government improves safety on Scotland's roads. The "Pedal on

Parliament" campaign wants more funding and better infrastructure.

educational cycling project. We are grateful that money is being spent

and the government is prioritising cycling in this way. But this is a

drop in the ocean that has been spent, we are asking for 5% of the

transport budget to be spent on cycling to make a transformation in

streets in their own, freewheeling of the way to Parliament. This

protest gives a whole new meaning to the phrase pedal power. They have

come here in their thousands and it appears the politicians might even

be starting to listen. I do not dispute the fact that we must do

mortals -- we must do more. We have the aspiration to increase the

number of journeys made by Bake by 2020. I do not suppose you can ever

do enough. For many, the pedal on Parliament has become an enjoyable

Police are investigating claims that pupils at a private school in

Edinburgh were assaulted during an Easter holiday camp. It is

understood a number of teenagers from Edinburgh Academy alleged they

had been restrained and beaten by other students at the army cadet

camp. Police Scotland said it was "liaising closely with the school to

determine the most appropriate course of action". A new study shows

that poverty levels in Scotland are falling at a greater level than the

rest of the UK. This is suggested that it is because more Scots live

in council association housing. A British man who was jailed in

Pakistan for posing as a Muslim has spoken for the first time since

returning to live with his children in Glasgow. Masood Ahmad is part of

a minority sect who were declared non-Muslim by the Pakistan

government in 1974. He was arrested in November and locked up for

sixty-five days under blasphemy laws but fled while on bail. The police

came here and grabbed me from the neck and took me straight to the

police station. Actually, anyone can be sent to prison, can be murdered

any time. At Ibrox there was a minute's

silence as a mark of respect to former Rangers player Sandy Jardine

who died on Thursday, aged 65. The players wore black armbands for

their match against Stranraer, which they won 3-0. Afterwards Rangers

were presented with the League One trophy. They remain unbeaten

throughout the league season. And here are today's Scottish

the table. Scotland's Olympic Curlers have been

honoured for their achievements in Sochi with a parade through

Lockerbie. Team GB's mens skip David Murdoch is from the town. The men

won silver and the women won bronze at the winter games. Ensures you

that people are still interested. It shows how getting that Olympic medal

Spurs on a nation and to show that you have so many people behind you

in Scotland makes that medal even more worthwhile.

evening sunshine for many areas in eastern Scotland, and it will extend

inland through the evening. First thing tomorrow morning we have a

fair amount of cloud. There will be some bits and pieces of rain. We

will see the odd spot of rain or drizzle pushing farther west but

that will retreat by the afternoon. The best of the weather will be the

north and north-west. It will be covert with eastern coastal areas.
