An Edinburgh woman who is charged with murdering her

three-year-old son has made her first public court appearance.

34-year-old Rosdeep Adekoya has been accused of beating Mikaeel Kular on

various occasions over a four-day period and then murdering him.

January, Mrs Adekoya had called the police and reported her little boy

missing, saying she thought he had climbed onto a stool and unlock the

front door of her Edinburgh flat. The Crown says she did this knowing

he was already dead. These were the pictures of hundreds of Mikaeel's

neighbours, members of the public, police and coastguards who searched

for the three-year-old. Then the news that was dreaded. Mikaeel's

body had been found 25 miles away in a woodland near Kirkcaldy, near a

house Mikaeel had lived in with his family months before. I can confirm

that we have recovered the body of a young boy in Fife, shortly before

midnight. 34-year-old Rosdeep Adekoya stood in the dock dressed

all in black. She showed no emotion and she did not say anything during

the hearing, which lasted just three minutes. She had entered no plea.

She was taken back to custody. In documents lodged with the court, Mrs

Adekoya is accused of hitting her son over the head and body, hitting

his body against a hard object, and causing blunt force injuries to his

head and body in the family home between the two other 15th of

January. She is accused of failing to seek medical attention for

Mikaeel and of murdering him. She is also accused of attempting to defeat

the ends of justice by wrapping Mikaeel's body in a duvet, putting

him in a suitcase and then into the boot of her car, and then driving to

Kirkcaldy. Mrs Adekoya is then said to have hidden the suitcase under a

bush in wetland behind the home in Fife. The case is being continued,

and there will be a further hearing here at the High Court in Edinburgh

on the 25th of July. MPs are calling

for a public inquiry into concerns commercial pressure from oil

and gas companies is putting The Commons transport select

Do the oil and gas companies have power that has led to cost-cutting

in safety measures? Has there been another enforcement of safety

regulations? Is there an openness that workers can express their

concerns if they feel things are not being done correctly? There are

gas companies deny helicopter operators are put under unsafe

pressure to make things work. If the government corporate public enquiry,

we will support it, and we would get intimately involved with that

process. But it is not something the oil and gas industry with support

unless it was ordered? We are not asking for it, but we will support

it if required. You don't think it is necessary? I didn't say that, I

said we would support it if there was evidence that we needed to.

Unions and relatives of those killed in the helicopter crashes have long

supported a public enquiry. The UK Government says it will look at the

committee's report. James Nugent says he might return offshore one

day, if he feels it is safe will. Scotland's first satellite has been

launched from a space centre UKube-One was built by

a Glasgow-based company. It's already in orbit and it's due

to separate from its Russian rocket Here's our science correspondent

but even without live pictures from the cosmodrome, it felt a lot like

it. I have confirmation that the satellite has launched. It is the

first satellite that has been fully designed and built in Scotland, so

it is a big step forward from that perspective. The other benefit of it

is, it is a different type of satellite, a more off the shelf type

of satellite. UKube-1 is the most advanced satellite of its kind in

the world, small, but it packs in six experiment into just three

metres. It will help to study things like space weather and satellite

security, and give schoolchildren the chance to contact the satellite.

More than that, it is blazing a trail for the Scottish space

industry. The buzz has already been good for business. Today's rocket

was an updated version of the one that once carried Soviet, cosmonauts

into orbit. The world's first satellite and the first man in space

both lifted off from the same place. Today, it was Scotland's turn.

Thank you very much. Good evening to you. It looks to stay dry through

the overnight period, although it will turn fairly misty and murky

across eastern parts, and that is how we start tomorrow. A lot of dry

weather around, Clinton is something brighter, but also ploughed along

the east coast. Towards the south-west, a dry start, and we will

see the mist gradually burning back towards the east coast during the

day tomorrow. We could seasoning brighter coming through, but overall

Orkney and Shetland, it stays rather murky. Outbreaks of rain over

Shetland through much of the day. In the north-west Highlands, a fairly

dry start and also some brightness as well. That's how it stays across

western Scotland through the rest of the day. Plenty of sunshine around

across the Western Isles, and down towards the central belt and the

south-west. Plenty of sunshine lifting the temperature tomorrow to

around 22 Celsius for some parts, but there the East, it will be a

touch cooler, especially around the coasts, just 17 Celsius for some

places. Across Orkney and Shetland, cooler still, 13 or 14 at best, but

in the sunshine, it will feel lovely, and it looks to be a lovely
