Glasgow has been packed out for what's being billed

as the biggest spectator weekend in the city's history.

Organisers say over a quarter of a million tickets have been sold

Spectators suffered big queues at Hampden Park,

and there was more long waiting at the park and ride at Silverburn.

Our reporter Phil Goodlad rounds up all the sporting action.

It was the day when the games spilled onto the roads. A weekend

which has attracted a record 350,000 ticket sales in Glasgow. It didn't

go according to plan for everybody. That was a slip. I think she ran off

the edge of the tarmac. Keeping his feet to produce a major marathon

shock, Australia's Michael Shelley. Danielle restored some African pride

in the women's race. Those who think that this is a sedate game may want

to think again. Alex Marshall and Paul Foster, beating England in

dramatic fashion. Imagine the celebrations if they win gold

tomorrow. No celebrations from the home side, though, at the rugby.

Scotland went down heavily to South Africa in the quarterfinals. Better

news could come this evening as Hannah goes for gold.

Scotland still in third place on 26 medals.

That's 11 golds, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals.

England and Australia still hold first and second place.

It's been a phenomenal few days for Scotland's Judo team.

They won 13 medals out of a possible 14, three of them came last night.

What a tally. 13 medals all in the hands of Chris Sherrington. Judo was

always going to be a good sport for Scotland, but now it has eclipsed

swimming as our most successful sport. It is fitting that the flag

bearer was one of those wearing a gold medal today. After the

disappointment of the Olympics, Euan Burton was determined to win.

Walking out there, I thought this is my last fight, there is nothing I

need to leave in the tank. I need to try to go through and destroy them.

I managed to follow up with a hold and, I have said many times, but

there was not much finesse in my hold even though judo is not a

technical support. The results have been a delight. Sarah Adlington was

one of the winners last night. Everything has gone into it and then

in one day it is over and I think it takes time to settle in, and to know

what you have achieved. On-site Chris Sherrington, he used stress to

combat -- do to combat stress after serving in Iraq.

Police are treating the death of a man in Greenock as suspicious.

The emergency services were called to reports of someone seriously

injured in a common close in Tobago Street early this morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Let's now get the weather for this evening and the start

It has certainly been a bit of a dream date, but things are set to

improve throughout the night. Some late evening sunshine for Glasgow

and the West, as this band of wrinkles away. We are going to see

it drying up across the country tonight, and under cooler -- clear

skies it will be cooler. Eight Celsius. For tomorrow, it looks like

a better Dave. Mainly dry and brighter weather too. We will see a

few glances of sunshine as well, and in that sunshine we will see

temperatures lifting nicely. That said, also a few heavy showers, but

temperatures reaching 22 Celsius or 23 Celsius, so not too bad if you're

heading to the Commonwealth Games over the next couple of days.

Feeling warmer for tomorrow, a touch cloudier for Tuesday.

Topped temperatures down 5 degrees on yesterday and much lower humidity

so the second part of the weekend has been much more comfortable. The
