Commonwealth Games. The world's fastest man denies making

disparaging remarks. And the medals continue to come. It's been another

good day for Scotland's male gymnasts. Daniel Keatings wins an

individual silver. Also tonight: A senior member of staff at Aberdeen

Crematorium is suspended as part of the investigation into the disposal

of baby ashes. And in football, Celtic are in Champions League

qualifying action tonight in Warsaw.

The biggest star of the Commonwealth Games, Usain Bolt, is embroiled

in a row with a national newspaper, over disparaging comments he's said

The Times says he used a crude word to describe the Games, and that he

also told one of their reporters the London Olympics was better.

The athlete, who's due to run at Hampden later this week,

says it's all nonsense - but the newspaper stands by its story.

He is one of the biggest names to come to the Glasgow games and this

morning the fastest man in the world took his seat to watch his

country's team played netball. His reported comments have made him the

talk of the city. According to The Times, he spoke to one reporter

outside the athletes village yesterday. The reporter stands by

her story that Usain Bolt was not having fun in Scotland and made a

disparaging comment about the Games. Usain Bolt looked happy and relaxed

The organisers were delighted when Bolt said he was available to

compete. just am trying to go around and see

the country. I know I will see a lot of culture. Yesterday, he met the

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. Today, Usain Bolt

responded to The Times report in a tweet. He said journalist should

not tell lies in order to sell papers.

We take Usain Bolt at his word and are pleased with how he has

responded. That is our position. These are a fantastic Games. Usain

Bolt is one of the stars of the Commonwealth Games and apparently

told the newspaper that the Olympics were better. This was the reaction

in Glasgow. Was he just in a bad mood or something? It is quite

unlike him. The city is showing its friendly side and everyone is going

all out to make it a great Games. I cannot agree with that. It has

been a fabulous games. Bolt is due to meet his Glasgow audience on

Friday. A man has been detained by police

following an early morning disturbance at the Commonwealth

Games Athletes' Village in Glasgow. Police Scotland said the 30-year-old

was currently in custody following the incident, which took place at

the site in Dalmarnock, in the city's east end, at about six

o'clock this morning. Daniel Keatings one is silver medal

Scotland were flexing their muscles. Daniel Keatings Was superb

on the rings and very much in contention. Daniel Purvis fell to

fourth place. But the fans had a lot to cheer in Daniel Keatings and

remained in the silver medal position. But Wilson was not far

behind. The battle came down to the last rotation. Daniel Keatings Kept

his nerve on the horizontal bar. Wilson replied with a great

performance. Silver to Scotland and Daniel Keatings. Today was the start

of the individual finals and tomorrow is the all-round finals.

They will compete taking their pieces of apparatus single-A. One

man competing tomorrow is Daniel Keatings Daniel Purvis made a slight

error which shows you the slight margins of error in this sport. If

you make a mistake and one of the apparatus you are down and out. Hats

off to Daniel Keatings. Tomorrow he is back in action and will compete

in individual finals and I am sure he will be full of confidence after

passengers and drivers about the part played by Glasgow taxis during

the Commonwealth Games. A senior member of staff at Aberdeen

Crematorium has been suspended from his job - during

an investigation into the handling of baby ashes. Derek Snow has been

suspended from his post during the new investigation led by Dame Elish

Angiolini. She's investigating the possible mishandling of babies'

ashes at crematoria around Scotland, including at Hazlehead. Steven Duff

reports. Another blow to the reputation of

this council run crematorium at Hazlehead in Aberdeen. Derek Snow

has been suspended. The move comes weeks

after Aberdeen City Council investigated. The investigation

relates to babies and adults. I have to consider the findings of our

independent audit published last year. It is not known if Mr Snow's

suspension is directly linked to the claim that babies and adults ashes

were cremated together. It was said that the ashes of babies were

deliberately not returned to parents. There are also allegations

and some families are pursuing legal action. We are waiting to see how

serious the situation is at Hazlehead. But a very senior member

of staff has been suspended and I That tells us all we need to know. I

think that is still a lot more to come out and there are people out

there who know the truth and needed to come and tell the truth now. It

is more than a year and a half that it has been going on for us. The

former Lord Advocate is heading up an investigation into this but the

City Council would only say they do not comment on personal matters.

Exactly a week after a family of four were killed in a road accident

near Polmont - police have been stopping drivers to appeal for

information. The parents and two young children died when their car

collided with a lorry on the A801 last Wednesday. Alexandra Mackenzie

1800 Vehicles Drive each error on this busy road. Last week a young

family from Bathgate died here. The family's car was driving north.

Police say they are still keen to trace a silver car scene here around

the time of the accident and are urging the driver of that car to

come forward. Those who had passed by at the same time were pulled over

and questioned further. Others said they were sorry they were unable to

help an investigation which was in early stages. Close by, the flowers

inevitably beginning to wilt with the messages of sympathy and shock

that remain for young family whose lives were cut so tragically short.

The owners of a plastics factory which exploded in Glasgow killing

nine people has blocked a compensation claim by a neighbouring

ICL Plastics opposed the claim by decorators merchant David T Morrison

on the grounds it was lodged outside the statutory five-year limit.

ICL appealed to the Supreme Court in London after judges at the Court

and energy management company announced it was reviewing its UK

NHS Highland is being accused of breaching the human rights of

dialysis patients in Argyll forced to endure the longest road journey

in Britain to get treatment. Two women from Campbeltown travel almost

700 miles a week because there are no dialysis machines in Argyll.

Campaigners say they want to put pressure on NHS Highland to

establish a facility at Campbeltown Hospital. NHS Highland say they are

A second man has appeared in court in connection with an alleged

?1 million jewel robbery in Edinburgh. 28-year-old

Kurtis Beech from Salford was charged with conspiracy to rob

Hamilton and Inches shop in the city's George Street by driving two

It's been 20 years since Scotland have won a medal in wrestling at the

Commonwealth Games. Today, three out of their four competitors made it

all the way to bronze medal matches. With two Scots in this category, no

one wanted to see this draw. It was a high school pupil who beat the

firefighter. She then managed to fight weight towards a bronze medal

match. Unfortunately her bid for bronze lasted just 31 seconds. Then

the second medal chance of the day. The former Scotland assistant coach

against the man from Malta. Experience would win the day. A

bronze for Scotland and celebrations for the Scottish team. Could

Scotland claim another? Sarah Jones fought her opponent from India.

India won by 13 to now. Organisers have confirmed that Kylie

Minogue will sing at the closing ceremony on Sunday.

Scotland so far has been in the pool. But the swimming has now

ended, and attention is switching to another pool, in another city. The

Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh is the venue for the diving

Scotland have not won a medal and diving since 1958. The grandfather

of this man did it back then. It has been a great benefit to assess the

diving situation and a great benefit to James. Those flocking to the pool

today cannot wait for a slice of the action. Why are you supporting

James? He is in my diving squad. My boyfriend is competing in the

diving. Edinboro is a beautiful city with really great people.

Tom Daley will be appearing here on Friday as well as Saturday. On

Friday he will come beating -- competing as well. If you have a

ticket for Friday and you are a fan of Tom Daley you have something

special coming then. While we've seen medals in

gymnastics and wrestling, Scots have been involved in ten other sports in

venues across Glasgow. Here's our Commowealth Games reporter Lisa

Summers. At least for Scots are through to

the semifinals in boxing. At Hampden, Lindsay Sharp East to the

semifinals. --eased to the semifinals of the

800m. Lara Mueller withdrew from the

event. Scotland did not have anything to

play for in the netball but have been savouring every match. The fans

also had something to cheer about in badminton. If we do get a medal, it

will come later in the week. For many visitors, taxes have become not

transport but invaluable local knowledge. Aileen Clarke's been

gauging opinion on how the Games are going from both sides of the glass.

just this is the best week I've ever had driving a taxi. People are

buzzing because of the whole thing. When we came out of Central Station

they were New Zealanders but by the time we got to the east end they

were pitch perfect and Glaswegian. One customer sign up the surprise.

This is usually the quietist two weeks of the year but it has become

the busiest two weeks of the year. We have not had the time to look at

museums and art galleries and we would like to do that again so we

will come back. The taxi drivers and other businesses in the city will

hope that they and thousands of others or keep their promise to come

back. After

the sunshine start to the Games the Scotland did not have anything to

play for in the netball but have been savouring every match. The fans

also had something to cheer about in badminton. If we do get a medal, it

will come later in the week. Showers will continue to ease and it

will be fairly cloudy. Most of the showers will be confined to the

south and south-west. It will be dry elsewhere that some of those showers

could well be pretty hefty. Showers will be random in nature and if you

get sunnier skies with lighter winds it will be OK but if you get the

downpours you will be running for cover. This rain around the Moray

Firth towards Aberdeenshire will be quite persistent and it will be

drier towards the Western Isles that some light showers will continue.

Those heavy and thundery downpours will continue eastwards as we

continue towards the end of the day. One of the same on Friday. One to

light showers and then the showers will get more power to them with

highs of 19 degrees. Saturday will be showers and heavy rain. It will

be heavy on the eastern side. For Glasgow it might not be a wash-out

but we will have to watch. I risk of some hefty downpours on tomorrow and

Friday and perhaps on Saturday. Fingers crossed that it might just

stay dry. As they say, it is all to pay for.
