The leaders of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, which is mourning Glasgow

shopkeeper Asad Shah, has condemned yesterday's statement

Community leaders have called on all religious leaders

Asad Shah was a much loved local shopkeeper who had served people

in the Shawlands area of Glasgow for many years.

His death has been widely mourned and a statement issued yesterday by,

the man appearing in court charged with his murder,

claiming Mr Shah had disrespected the prophet, has deeply troubled

This is deeply disturbing, it sets an extremely

dangerous precedent, as it justifies the killing

of anyone, Muslim or non-Muslim, whom an extremist considers having

Ahmadiyyas, they follow the Prophet Muhammad,

So there is no way that an Ahmadiyya would cause

Last week, religious leaders came together

Today they are being asked to publicly condemn the statement

This is the stage where we expect all imams to come out to condemn it,

so that we know that, yes, they are all

Tonight, we put that request to a representative

We condemn it without any reservation.

It was a very annoying statement from this gentleman.

I mean, Islam never allows anything which is like that or killing

There are around 600 Ahmadiyya Muslims in Scotland.

We have been advising our members to take extra precautions,

although we do not have any threat from the majority of the Muslims.

The Ahmadiyya community leader said today that it's very important

at times like this that all Muslim communities come together.

They themselves are launching a poster campaign

It's slogan - United Against Extremism.

A Bulgarian man has been found guilty of murdering

31-year-old Nikola Zhulev killed Alan Gardner at his home

He hit Mr Gardner over the head with a frying pan.

This is Nikola Zhulev, caught trying to pawn items,

after he had robbed and killed jeweller Alan Gardner.

Zhulev is from Bulgaria and was living in Perth,

He got to know Alan Gardner, who ran a jewellery business

He was sometimes sent special parcels of jewellery to repair.

On the 14th of April last year, Zhulev was short

He promised landlord he would have it in a few days' time.

In the interim, Zhulev carried out a series of Internet

The imprint matched the base of this heavy 1.5 kilograms frying pan.

Mr Gardner's feet were also bound with tape and it's believed

After Mr Gardner's death, Zhulev was seen in this

money shop in Perth, trying to pawn jewellery.

He pawned other items from Mr Gardner's home

and he also bought food with Mr Gardner's credit cards.

He even tried to sell the dead man's car.

And with this money, he paid his landlord.

The court heard from Zhulev's friend, he confessed he had hit

Mr Gardner over the head with a pan and killed him.

Zhulev had been planning on disposing of Mr Gardner's body.

He bought a spade from Home Base and dug a shallow grave

in the woodland, but he ran out of time and police

The judge said in her view this was a cold and calculated killing.

Zhulev now faces a life sentence for murder.

He will learn next month how many years he has to serve

in prison before he can be considered for parole.

Detectives investigating the disappearance of

a Metropolitan Police officer, who's originally from Inverness,

PC Gordon Semple was last seen on April the 1st

Officers have informed the 59-year-old's family

about the discovery of human remains at a property in Southwark.

A 49-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion

Thank you. Good evening. We have showers stating away tonight and we

will see largely clear skies. Today we had some heavy showers, but also

some sunny spells. This from one of our weather watchers. We could see

some largely dry and fine images with beautiful sunshine in store as

well. The showers will continue to fade away. Lingering only four more

Easter in coastal areas. Temperatures dipping, especially for

Northern areas, temperatures could be below freezing. We could see a

frost with lighter winds. Quarter to share were still around for me as

well. For tomorrow morning, largely dry, sunshine around, Dumfries and

Galloway get sunshine as well. A bit more cloud around for the Borders in

the morning, the risk of water to showers here. Along the eastern

coast, with the risk of one or two showers. Elsewhere, largely dry and

find, especially across more northern parts of the country, a

start. The rest of the country, largely dry and fine for most of us,

a few scattered showers around and later in the day by the afternoon we

will see a weather front pushing in across Northern Ireland by lunchtime

and the Western fringes of Scotland and Wales and England as well into
