gone on trial for the murder of their son. The ladies are charged

with falsely blaming the seven-year-old with the death. Liam

died from severe injuries to his head and body. It is alleged they

were inflicted by his mother and her partner, accused of repeatedly

assaulting him. It is also alleged that when they found his body, they

tried to defeat the ends of justice by blaming another child for the

death. They are accused of forcing his hand into the mouth of the dead

toddler before the emergency services arrived. The first witness

in court today was the father of Liam, Joseph Johnson. He said he had

been in a relationship with Rachel for several years, when she left him

for Naomi and took Liam with her. He recalled the day that she called to

say Liam was dead and another boy had killed him. The women are

accused of harming two other boys. It is alleged they kept one child in

a makeshift cage for prolonged periods, sometimes forcing him to

sleep there. It is also alleged they tied another child to a chair in a

room where rats and snakes are kept and told him the boa constrictor

eight naughty boys. The women deny all charges and the trial continues.

Investigations are continuing into the sinking of a fishing boat in the

western isles in the early hours of Saturday morning. One of the four

crew of the Louisa were rescued by lifeboats. Two men were found dead

and a fourth also swam ashore and is missing. The examination is ongoing

and further searches for the missing man are under review. Plans by

Glasgow University to transform a former hospital into a teaching and

of the infirmary will form a new college building. The development

will create 2500 jobs. The Livingston -based company touched

a public appeal to buy and restore an ancient Caledonian forest. This

set to turn cloudy for most of us with some outbreaks of rain.

across the south east. Also for the south-west and towards the Argyll

area potentially as well. Across the north, we will see the driest and

brightest weather tomorrow morning. Some sunshine potentially across the

western isles and towards the northern isles as well. Through the

course of the day, in the far north, northern isles as well. Through the

south, fairly cloudy and further outbreaks of rain. Across the rest

of the UK tomorrow afternoon, some rain to come across Northern Ireland

conditions with brisk east - east to north easterly winds and highs of 10
