Stewart Hosie is to step down as the SNP's Deputy Leader

The announcement comes after recent tabloid allegations

Here's our political correspondent Glenn Campbell.

His election as SNP Deputy Leader was the peak of his career. Stewart

Hosie took over the job from Nicola Sturgeon when she became party

leader 18 months ago. He will not seek reelection.

The BBC understands he will not lay a leading role in the party's summer

campaign for independence. Mr Hosey says he will concentrate on his

Dundee constituency in his role at Westminster, where he was

reappointed as SNP group of MPs earlier this week. Nominations for

his work placement as Deputy Leader of the party are open until the

beginning of August. Thousands of fans have lined

the streets of Edinburgh to watch Hibernian players

directors of Hibernian enjoying the warm summer sunshine in a sea of

green and white 's guards surrounding them. That loss goals

not only eroded 114 years of Scottish cup failure for Hibernian,

but also put the club into Europe next season for the first game in

almost seven weeks' time, but I have the feeling that these fancier will

still be in the party mood come the middle of July.

to track down football fans involved in violence on the pitch at the end

The scenes have been greeted with widespread condemnation.

All eyes are on Steven MacLean, the referee. Do Rangers have one last

chance? No, they don't! The thrilling final won by Hibernian

with a goal in the dying seconds should have been a showcase for

Scottish football. Instead, seems not witnessed for generation at

Hampden Park unfolded, the stewards failed to hold back a tide of

jubilant fans pouring onto the pitch. Rangers said some of their

players and staff are assaulted and that the other end of the stadium,

some Rangers fans joined the Malay. The goal posts were taken down and

the turf was that up. It's not good for Scottish football, when our

showcase final to millions of people around the world is remembered for

appalling scenes at the end of the game and it's something we never

like to see, particularly involving police forces. Rangers layers and

staff were ushered to safety and the losing side were presented with

their medals in the dressing room. The cup presentation had to be

delayed as a line of police backed up by mounted officers separated

fighting fans and eventually cleared the pitch. The club say the regret

the offence and will work with the authorities to identify any

supporters who has tarnished the club's image. I am sorry it

happened, it's not the presentation anyone was expecting, so everyone

will leave with a degree of disappointment. I'm sorry that

Rangers players felt they were unable to come out and take their

medals. Police have set up a special inquiry team to investigate the

trouble here yesterday. They have asked anyone who has images or

footage of the disorder and violence to get in touch.

In the Premiership playoff final, Kilmarnock beat Falkirk 4-0.

Seasoned striker Kris Boyd's goal made the score over two legs 4-1.

The result means the Ayrshire side keep their place in the top flight.

Thank you very much. A very good evening to you. We saw a number of

showers today, but also some gorgeous than shine. Here's a

picture from one of our weather watchers from the Fort William area.

Look at the lovely blue skies. Still a few showers to come, as we head

through the evening the showers away. Overnight a book store dry

with long tailored spells equitably considering the time year. We could

see temperatures falling not that far off the freezing mark, a touch

of frost possible in the rural parts of the Highlands and the East. More

typically four or five Celsius. High pressure building in nicely for the

beginning of the working week, a lot of drive, settled whether Monday and

into Tuesday. A beautiful start to the day, albeit slightly chilly,

sunshine from first light and that will be the case for much of the

morning. As we approach the afternoon period, we will see the

cloud bubble up. They focused or the spine of the country, one or two

will drift into Tayside and fight, that is really the case for the rest

the UK. Another lovely day, showers affecting the spine of England right

down to the far south. But most of us it will be drive with spells of

sunshine. Highs of 18 Celsius, we will even see those values in

Scotland, more typically 15 or 16. The showers die away, a fine into

the differ most. On Tuesday we do it all again. Quite a chilly start

initially on Tuesday, but we will see good spells of sunshine coming

through the course of the day. It will feel cooler toward the East

Coast, but in the West highs of 14, 15 or maybe 16 Celsius.
