We're back with the late news at 10.30.

Now on BBC One it's time for the news where you are.

Emergency services have been dealing with what's been described

as a major incident in Cardowan on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Initial reports say that a number of people may have been injured.

Our reporter John McManus is at the scene.

On the servers were called here to Stepps this afternoon. Neighbours

had reported seeing two bands who've been set alight. You can see the

route remains behind me. They are being taken away now for a parental

examination. It must have been a very scary incident. -- forensics

examination. I could see the flames, but I couldn't see anything else.

For that to happen here in Cardowan, that has never happened before. The

police remain in place this morning, but the Scotland are unable to

confirm any injuries here. Recently say there is an ongoing

investigation. A three-month-old baby,

who was taken to hospital after an incident at a homeless

facility in West Lothian, has died. Emergency services were called

to the unit at Broxburn, on Monday after

concerns were raised. Sophia Williams was taken

to the Sick Children's Police Scotland say she died

there earlier today. The death is being treated

as unexplained. The Children's Commissioner has

attacked campaigners who've used the death of toddler Liam Fee

to further their campaign against the Scottish Government's

Named Person initiative. Tam Baillie says it's

unforgivable to link the two. Could the murder of Liam Fee have

been avoided? Last me -- last week, his mother and her partner were

convicted of his murder. This scheme where everyone is assigned a health

visitor to look out for them. Someone has said it is unforgivable

for people to link this with his death. What we do know is that this

was a child who was known to social workers and that puts that incident,

that child, way beyond that level... By the children's commissioner

admitted that he didn't know it if Liam Fee had a person assigned to

him. You could have contacted someone on the Fife Council and

found out what arrangements were in place. It's not my responsibility to

do that, there will be a serious review. The Scottish Government

insists Liam Fee's death has absolutely nothing to do with the

Labour claims a lack of girls studying key subjects could hit

The party's Education spokesperson Iain Gray says a skills gap

could see 10,000 digital jobs unfilled over the next decade.

The Scottish Government says it's working to encourage girls and women

into science, technology, engineering and maths.

It's already announced an additional ?1.5 million of funding.

Mr Gray's highlighting official figures which show a 45% drop

in girls studying Higher Computing since 2007.

This is a well-known problem. We talk about it a lot, but frankly

what we see now is that over ten years, the period of the SNP being

in Government, the situation has got worse, not better. It matters

because in the future, more and more jobs in the Scottish economy will be

science and engineering based. In fact, we know that we will need to

find around 170,000 more engineers over the next decade.

Yes, we had a top temperature today are 25 Celsius and clear blue skies

across much of the country. This evening, there would be much by way

of change. Any showers in the west will die out, some fine evening

sunshine. Tonight, we hold the dry weather, perhaps some myths and

local as feeding into the northern and coastal areas. Certainly not a

cold night. Light winds. As we head into tomorrow, perhaps most, low

cloud into the Northern Isles. Coastal areas may be somewhat

stabbing to clear, perhaps if you thunder showers and it will be very
