currently Home Secretary, will be here in two days' time

:00:00.:00:00.

The First Minister has said she will work "constructively"

:00:00.:00:10.

with Theresa May when she becomes Prime Minister.

:00:11.:00:13.

But in a statement Nicola Sturgeon re-affirmed her committment

:00:14.:00:15.

to keeping Scotland in the European Union -

:00:16.:00:18.

despite Mrs May's assertion today that Brexit means Brexit.

:00:19.:00:20.

Here's our political correspondent Glenn Campbell.

:00:21.:00:29.

In his statement, Nicola Sturgeon congratulates Theresa May and calls

:00:30.:00:38.

for early engagement with the aid coming Prime Minister in Scotland's

:00:39.:00:41.

EU status. I'm sure that Theresa May will want to have early discussions

:00:42.:00:46.

with Nicola Sturgeon and other devolved leaders. But when she says

:00:47.:00:51.

Brexit means Brexit, it's not clear that she envisages some sort of

:00:52.:00:55.

special arrangement for Scotland. What kind of Prime Minister will she

:00:56.:00:59.

make? I will be discussing that was one of her supporters, the Scottish

:01:00.:01:04.

Conservative leader. She's got a tenacity, quiet strength. She plays

:01:05.:01:10.

with a straight bat. I think she'll be an exceptionally straightforward

:01:11.:01:15.

and forthright Prime Minister. And I think that she is absolutely the

:01:16.:01:18.

right woman for the job. Do you think that to reason may has a

:01:19.:01:24.

mandate? Not having been that contest in the Conservative Party,

:01:25.:01:29.

never mind in the country? -- do you think Theresa May has a mandate to.

:01:30.:01:36.

We have seen examples recently regarding Scottish politicians. To

:01:37.:01:39.

reason may was one of those who called for a general election when

:01:40.:01:45.

Gordon Brown to go from Tony Blair. Does she need one now? -- Theresa

:01:46.:01:50.

May was one of those. Think the instability that has been caused, we

:01:51.:01:54.

are looking for is to belittle you. I don't fear a second general

:01:55.:01:59.

election, I just think it will be better for the country if a new

:02:00.:02:03.

government was able to get its feet under the desk and get on with the

:02:04.:02:08.

job. That job starts in earnest on Wednesday evening, when Theresa May

:02:09.:02:12.

walks into number ten for the first time as Prime Minister. It is clear

:02:13.:02:17.

that high on her list on priorities will be negotiating the UK's exit

:02:18.:02:21.

from the European Union and trying to do so in a way that keeps

:02:22.:02:23.

Scotland inside the UK. It was a dramatic day

:02:24.:02:25.

of events at Westminster - our political correspondent

:02:26.:02:27.

Nick Eardly reports on what's Tomorrow, attention will start to

:02:28.:02:39.

turn to who will be in Theresa May's cabinet, and what will her

:02:40.:02:43.

governments try and achieve. Most of the Conservative MPs in Westminster

:02:44.:02:50.

behind me supported Mrs May. The Scottish secretary was one of them.

:02:51.:02:54.

He has welcomed her election as leader this afternoon. And I think

:02:55.:03:00.

it's safe to say that as Scotland's only Conservative MP, his job in the

:03:01.:03:03.

Cabinet will be safe in any reshuffle. Theresa May said when she

:03:04.:03:10.

launched her campaign last week that keeping the United Kingdom together,

:03:11.:03:14.

indeed making it stronger, would be a key part of her leadership. This

:03:15.:03:20.

afternoon I asked the SNP's leader at Westminster what he thought she

:03:21.:03:27.

would need to do to achieve that. My message to Theresa May is that I

:03:28.:03:30.

hope she will work constructively with Nicola Sturgeon and the

:03:31.:03:35.

Scottish Government. More than 62% of voters who voted to stay in

:03:36.:03:39.

Europe, and we need to protect our plays there. The Tories don't have a

:03:40.:03:43.

great record when it comes to Europe, so I'm not holding my

:03:44.:03:48.

breath. Politicians from across the UK and Scotland to win over. It's

:03:49.:03:55.

been another extraordinary day at Westminster, and more to come.

:03:56.:03:58.

Two Turkish men have been found guilty of attempting to smuggle more

:03:59.:04:05.

than three tonnes of cocaine - the biggest ever seizure

:04:06.:04:07.

The cocaine was found hidden inside a tug boat after it was

:04:08.:04:12.

boarded by customs and police officers off the coast of Aberdeen

:04:13.:04:14.

From the High Court in Glasgow, Aileen Clarke reports.

:04:15.:04:17.

In the international waters of the North Sea,

:04:18.:04:19.

100 miles east of Aberdeen, the chase is on.

:04:20.:04:22.

It had taken two days for the authorities to find

:04:23.:04:24.

Customs officials in France had tipped off their counterparts

:04:25.:04:29.

here that the tug was some way of the coast of Britain

:04:30.:04:32.

Boarding parties headed across the choppy sea,

:04:33.:04:41.

their mission, to catch and board the target and bring her voyage

:04:42.:04:44.

The tug and crew were escorted into Aberdeen Harbour,

:04:45.:04:50.

The search team knew there was cocaine in a ballast tank

:04:51.:04:56.

by traces on the drill they were using.

:04:57.:04:59.

It was so well hidden that it was another two days

:05:00.:05:01.

before they uncovered how to access it properly.

:05:02.:05:05.

Starting with the plans of the vessel, which is something

:05:06.:05:07.

we always start from and look at, the plans gave no indication

:05:08.:05:14.

Members of the deep rummage team took it in turns to head

:05:15.:05:21.

One by one, huge bales of cocaine were retrieved.

:05:22.:05:31.

Very well protected, and thought to be around 70% pure.

:05:32.:05:43.

It has been the biggest ever seizure of cocaine in the UK

:05:44.:05:58.

To give a comparison for people, the total seizure of cocaine

:05:59.:06:02.

by all forces in England and Wales and Border Force in the year '14-'15

:06:03.:06:05.

It was effectively a year's worth of seizures.

:06:06.:06:17.

But that half a billion worth of cocaine would have

:06:18.:06:19.

to go on another trip before being destroyed.

:06:20.:06:21.

The prosecution wanted to see it in its entirety.

:06:22.:06:25.

That entailed a massive security operation.

:06:26.:06:28.

It involved firearms officers, countersurveillance,

:06:29.:06:35.

to make sure the drugs could safely be taken to the court.

:06:36.:06:43.

So they could realise their full impact there.

:06:44.:06:45.

It was just on the other side of those double doors that 3.2

:06:46.:06:48.

There was so much of it they couldn't fit it

:06:49.:06:52.

in the courtroom, so it was piled in the open hallway.

:06:53.:06:55.

The judge, the jury, the QCs and the accused

:06:56.:06:57.

Today, the Turkish captain of the MV Hamal, Mumin Sahin,

:06:58.:07:02.

and his first mate, were found guilty.

:07:03.:07:09.

It went from Istanbul to the Cayman Islands,

:07:10.:07:15.

to Tenerife, South America, then to Europe and the UK.

:07:16.:07:24.

Each it ended in a Scottish courtroom.

:07:25.:07:26.

The captain and his first officer convicted here today are just one

:07:27.:07:29.

small part of a very large international drug

:07:30.:07:31.

Investigations are ongoing across Europe to find out who else

:07:32.:07:43.

was involved in procuring the 3.2 tonnes of cocaine.

:07:44.:07:45.

A teenager has pleaded guilty to causing the death of an Edinburgh

:07:46.:07:48.

Dylan Jenkin was driving a car which struck and killed Jill Pirrie

:07:49.:07:52.

on Old Dalkeith Road on the 12th of May as she walked home from work

:07:53.:07:56.

18-year-old Jenkin will be sentenced later.

:07:57.:08:02.

The Wimbledon champion Andy Murray says it is "unlikely" he will play

:08:03.:08:05.

in Great Britain's Davis Cup tie against Serbia in

:08:06.:08:07.

However he may travel there even if he doesn't play

:08:08.:08:11.

because he says he feels a "responsibility" to the team.

:08:12.:08:14.

The day after Sunday's incredible final Andy Murray spoke

:08:15.:08:18.

to our tennis reporter Kheredine Idessane.

:08:19.:08:25.

I was emotional just because I know all of the hard work and stuff,

:08:26.:08:36.

the effort that goes into trying to win this event.

:08:37.:08:41.

When I'd done it, first of all, I was really excited and happy.

:08:42.:08:48.

Then 45 seconds later, all of that, that

:08:49.:08:51.

Are you thinking of your immediate family, your young daughter,

:08:52.:09:08.

your wife, your peers, friends back in Dunblane?

:09:09.:09:13.

First, you see the people in the stand.

:09:14.:09:16.

A lot of them work and have made sacrifices to allow me to do

:09:17.:09:27.

They spend a lot of time away from their family as well.

:09:28.:09:33.

Then you start to think about everything that's gone

:09:34.:09:43.

into getting you to this place, and that's the moment you kind

:09:44.:09:46.

These are the moments that all the hard work's four.

:09:47.:09:54.

Andy Murray, Olympic champion, Scottish.

:09:55.:10:01.

Jamie Murray, best doubles champion in the world, Scottish.

:10:02.:10:09.

Gordon Reid, double Wimbledon champion, Scottish.

:10:10.:10:12.

To expect that same success to happen immediately...

:10:13.:10:29.

Tennis in Scotland has never really been a big thing at all.

:10:30.:10:39.

It is strange that a lot of the best players over the past few years have

:10:40.:10:42.

My mum genuinely has a lot to do with it.

:10:43.:10:51.

She helped a lot of others, obviously me and my brother,

:10:52.:10:55.

but what we want to see now is more depth, more players playing

:10:56.:10:59.

at the highest level, rather than just a few playing right

:11:00.:11:03.

Hopefully, that can happen for the next few years.

:11:04.:11:08.

You have made a lot of people very proud.

:11:09.:11:10.

Well, let's get the weather now from Judith.

:11:11.:11:24.

It was a bit of a clearing up day. A cloudy affair up towards the North

:11:25.:11:34.

East. But it's trying now. Any showers pulling away, quite a lot of

:11:35.:11:40.

showery activity south on the border. Come tomorrow morning, it

:11:41.:11:44.

will be a lovely start across much of Scotland and not too cold

:11:45.:11:49.

tonight. Beautiful start, sunny spells, not too cold. Sunshine

:11:50.:11:54.

through the central lowlands. The odd flight fleeting shower through

:11:55.:11:58.

the West Highlands, maybe around the great Glen area. A bit of mist and

:11:59.:12:08.

murk across Shetland, but clearing as we had through the day. A lovely

:12:09.:12:13.

morning, the odd fleeting shower. Nothing really showers as we took a

:12:14.:12:18.

look at the rest of the UK. One or two showers from Northern Ireland,

:12:19.:12:21.

some brightness as well. Fading into eastern parts of Wales and the

:12:22.:12:27.

south-east of England. These will be heavy and torrential at times,

:12:28.:12:32.

thundery. Created by instability in the area. Back in Scotland, we will

:12:33.:12:38.

see average temperatures for the time of year. They will feel

:12:39.:12:44.

pleasant in the sunshine, 17, 18, maybe even 19 in the east. That Mr

:12:45.:12:49.

Angelo cloud shaped thing away from Shetland. Just the odd shower. It

:12:50.:12:58.

could be quite chilly in the Glens. A ridge of high Russia building

:12:59.:13:06.

across the UK, which will settle things down. -- a ridge of high

:13:07.:13:11.

pressure. Wednesday is predominantly dry, one or two showers in western

:13:12.:13:17.

areas. Temperatures around the seasonal average, 17 to 19 Celsius.

:13:18.:13:22.

One of two showers in the West, good sunny spells in the east. On

:13:23.:13:24.

Thursday. That is your forecast.

:13:25.:13:28.
