The real Olympics are officially up and running and we've had plenty of

Scottish interest on the first day. What about last night's opening

Hannah Miley. One man has died and another has

been injured after a tree fell Police were called to an area

of woodlands on the south bank of the Water of Leith,

near Dean Village, It's understood the men had

been wild camping. This survey appears to be an

exceptional accident, a freak accident, even. The police were

called to an area of woodlands about 3:30 this morning. They say that a

very large tree fell on to the tent the men were sleeping in. One of the

men died at the scene, the other suffered minor injuries. It seems

they had both been wild camping. This area is often described as an

oasis of calm close to Edinburgh city centre. The dead man has not

been named and the police are trying to trace his next of kin. It is

important to stress there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing. The

police say it seems the tree fell as a result of what they are describing

as natural occurrences. A report will be sent to the posh greeter

in the Partick area of Glasgow after the wall of a restaurant roof

garden collapsed and fell 20 feet Fire crews led residents

from an adjoining block of flats and customers from

a nearby pub to safety. The restaurant, on Benalder Street,

was closed at the time. A 46-year-old woman has died

after the car she was driving collided with another car

on the A68, north of Pathhead. The driver of the other car,
