This is BBC world news. The military In the moment, more on plans to fix

economic problems in Thailand. First, Europe's heads of state and

government will have plenty to chew over this evening. What will the

election results mean for policy in Europe and the economy? There are

those who insist that the lesson of the election is that Europe must

reform. That might mean doing less and returning some to member states.

Other believe that ever closer union is manifest destiny and the answer

lies in deeper integration. In the short`term, Britain has stressed the

need for the forms. In France, the president says the EU had become to

promote and should focus on jobs and investment. Angela Merkel believes

the focus should be on boosting the economy. In Denmark, Spain, Greece

and elsewhere, large parts of the electorate want to rethink. Let's

get more. The think tank Open Europe wants a new model. Let's talk about

reform. The dust has settled. Is there at the fit for reform? I think

there is. What we have seen `` is their appetite for reform? I think

there is. Francois Hollande, the President of France, he has come out

and asked for a rethink of the policy. I think that this might be

quite problematic. He talks about growth. He means more government

spending. I doubt whether that is what Angela Merkel had in mind when

she talked about growth. The French government may be pushed to resist

the EU`guided budget cuts. So they are singing from different hymn

sheets at the moment. Is there going to be a problem with regaining some

kind of European solidarity? The next time the Euro crisis will face

a test of its solidarity, all of these governments on the periphery

will be faced with stronger protest movements. They will still be able

to put out of somehow but it will only become harder. At the same

time, in the north, in Germany, for example, there is a far right party

that secured six or seven European MPs and is against fiscal transfer.

There is popular discontent with the current policies on both sides. Of

course, in the last parliament we had certain types of issues that

face the economy. How difference is this parliament going to be in terms

of economic reform and the need for it? We can see that the number of

free trade supporting MEPs has dropped slightly. That is worrying

because there is a project for a trade deal between the United States

and the EU. I think, fundamentally, not so much is going to change

within the European Parliament. There is a very Federalist mindset.

There is now 30% protest members. That is up from 21%. It is expected

that the main groups will continue as they always have. The fact that

these protest parties are doing well, in France, in Greece, in

Denmark, this will put a very considerable pressure on national EU

policy. It may also drive the leaders of these governments to try

to achieve a lighter and more flexible European Union. That is

what Britain is asking for. People vote for UKIP but I think the

British people are fed up with the command and control we have seen in

recent years. Interesting stuff. Thank you for talking to us. A

British woman is to take charge of one of the jewels of the Crown in

the French industry. Linda Jackson will become CEO of the 95 adult

company on the 1st of June. She has 35 years experience in the motor

industry but remains one of the few women to have a major carmaker. We

asked why she thinks so few women are in the drivers seat of these

major companies. I don't know why because I think the car business is

good. It is a sexy product, and emotional product. You don't just

buy a car, you choose it, they wanted, it is personalised. Women

play a large part in terms of choosing a car. I don't know why

there are so few of us. It is diversity, isn't it? But it is the

president culture, , feminine, you add something. Women are more

reflective in terms of decision. I like to have a team around to

discuss things. We reflect on things and make a decision. You are a

woman, you are British, you work in a culture that is different in

France. Do you feel pressure to have the more I will be tucked up at idea

the biggest markets. It will continue to be. I think we have done

both things. We have two joint ventures in China and they are an

important part of our business. I think they bring help to us in terms

of aiding globalisation. That was Linda Jackson, the new boss of

to fixing the economic problems in the country. `` coup. They are

committed to pay farmers who have lost money under the rice scheme.

You have been keeping a close eye on this story. What more can you tell

us about this economic part of the coup?

The hope is that this is the first step. There are supporters and
