The last Flybe flights between the That's all from us.

The last Flybe flights between the Channel Islands and Gatwick will

take off this weekend. The airline announced last year it was pulling

the service, leaving Guernsey with just one operator on the route ` the

States`owned airline Aurigny. Already concerns have been raised

about prices now some are claiming the bigger problem will be

availability. Penny Elderfield reports.

FLYBE TANNOY ANNOUNCEMENT. Something you won't be hearing for

much longer. Because by this time tomorrow Flybe won't be flying to

Gatwick anymore. Flybe will still have a presence here of course. The

flights to other airports like Southampton will continue and in the

short`term to help cope with the extra passengers needing to get to

Gatwick, Aurigny is actually leasing one of Flybe's jets. That's until

its own new one arrives in the summer. But with no competition soon

on the route for Guernsey, there's concern Aurigny's prices will go up,

particularly when you compare them to some of the fares you can get to

fly from Jersey. But Aurigny promises it won't be ripping people

off. We are committed to keeping prices under control. There will be

plenty of good deals around. The advice is a book early and get a

good deal. In the business of booking a lot of flights the cost

may be one thing, but for this travel agent it's the availability

of flights that's the worry. School holidays coming up, April through

the summer and October. And also for December. Prices have gone up

slightly but I think they would have gone up anyway even if Flybe was on

the route or not. Aurigny has increased the number of flights to

Gatwick and says it can meet demand. But the lack of choice for getting

there is something Guernsey passengers will now have to get used

to. Almost a year since Guernsey woman

Sarah Groves was found dead in India, the man accused of murdering

her has made another appearance in court. Dutchman Richard de Witt

denies all charges. 24`year`old Sarah was found stabbed to death on

a houseboat on April sixth last year. The trial has heard from 26

witnesses so far. The BBC's correspondent in Kashmir Riyaz

Masroor says it's one of the longest trials ever to take place in the

region. The prosecution has never been able

to present the murder weapon or any direct witnesses. The murder took

place in the dead of night. We thought that the case would

collapse, but the prosecution looked for more time and the judges gave

them it. They asked them to work harder to find out what happened.

Nothing conclusive is coming out. A hospital nurse from Guernsey has

been ordered to attend anger management classes after being found

guilty of slapping a black colleague and shouting racial abuse. The

Nursing and Midwifery Council concluded that as Anne Gallacher had

since undergone training in Equality and Diversity and wasn't a risk to

patient safety, she should not be struck off the nursing register. She

will continue to practise under several conditions, including

completing an anger management course in Guernsey.

The debate about changing the voting system in Guernsey has been delayed

until July. A motion signed by seven politicians had asked the Assembly

to agree that in future Deputies would be elected on an island`wide

basis, and that all voters would have the same number of votes as

there are seats available. But Deputy Lyndon Trott successfully

postponed the issue until a review of government is complete.

The union representing baggage handlers at Jersey airport will meet

with the company that employs them two weeks today in a bid to avoid

any potential industrial action. Some ground staff have raised

concerns about possible cuts to their pay and working hours, because

Aurigny has taken over Blue Islands' ground handling work. Members of the

Unite union are being balloted over whether to take industrial action.

The results of that ballot will be announced a week on Monday.

There's been a lot made about the death of the high street as online

shopping becomes more popular. But one Jersey businessman is fighting

back by combining the traditional shop with the internet. Christina

Ghidoni reports. Buy online or go into town? It's the

battle of the shopping experience as traditional high street shops

compete with the internet. But the owner of local online furniture

website MyPad.je, Paul Clark is combining the two. He's opening a

showroom where customers can touch and try but browse and order online

here or at home. There are no cash tills and no money changes hands. We

find our busiest day of the week is a Sunday or even innings. People

order from their phones, they order from their computers, it is not

necessarily... They can do it while they are watching television. This

fusion of traditional shopping and the internet has been growing in the

UK for years now. So why is Jersey so behind? There is a degree of

reluctance that it is inevitable for many retailers. It involves a leap

into the unknown for a lot of businesses and it also involves

investment. But we are seeing start`up retailers starting to act

quite disruptively in certain sectors. I think they are starting

to make the longer standing players think carefully about their business

models. The MyPad.je showroom opens tomorrow at West Centre with the

hope of encouraging islanders to shop in Jersey rather than spend

online with big UK retailers. Newsnight is starting on BBC Two.

But now the weather. Finally this weekend spring arrives.

The temperatures are up, the sunshine will be out and it will be

mainly a dry day. We could see temperatures up to 16 or 17 degrees.

There are showers around now and there could be a few more showers

overnight. But most of them move away by dawn tomorrow morning. We

start the day at around seven degrees. Tomorrow afternoon, there

will be patchy cloud. But that will move out of the way. What cloud we

do see in the afternoon will be high`level cloud making the sunshine

hazy. The outlook for Sunday is dry and finance we will see more of the

same on Sunday, perhaps a degree or so warmer. The wind are mainly from

the south`east and from that direction we get a lot of fine

weather. We see a change into next week. By dumping it will be as cold

as it has been but we are expecting to see showers on Monday and Tuesday

and some of them are turning out to be heavy. That's all from us, have a

nothing to do with the weather. As the clocks changed last year we were

coming out of the March freeze. This year, though, as the clucks

change, the weather is warming up. Not clear blue sky, the sun will be

hazy but the thunder storms will be gone. It will be mainly dry.

And the weather is lively out there this evening. There are bands of

rain with hail over western parts of the UK.

A bit of rain for parts of the north of England and south-west of

Scotland. And lots of hill fog into the Pennines. Mist and fog in the

central and eastern areas of England. It is a slow start in the
