the other, it could be the perfect location for a moment in history.

But, will that dramatic moment belonged to Jersey? Today, they

played the last lot of the group matches to qualify for the

quarterfinals. Jerzy's ladies pairs managed to do just that against a

tough New Zealand side. It was a close match, we really needed to

wind. One of the results went in our favour so we got through. What does

matches? Now it is a straight knockout, so we have got to be at

there is pressure on the next lawn bowls team. There was a bit of

There are matches in play now. Moving on, loose Cannon is through

to the last 16 of the badminton singles. She used to represent team

England and says that jersey athletes need more funding to help

the sport grow. Back in a jersey shirt but playing

for her island, Liz Cann was looking for a place in the last 16 this

morning, and she made it easily. I was focusing on my own quality at

Babington, rather than just playing any old how. So, I was quite pleased

with what I did out there. She is no stranger to the Commonwealth Games.

She won the singles bronze for England at the games in Delhi four

years ago, but switched allegiances back to jersey. The team is smaller,

more intimate we are backing each other a lot more, rather than the

sports being separate. Whilst playing for England, she was funded

by team England. Now she has retired, she has lost that funding

and, coupled with coaching commitments, says it is an issue. We

need way more funding to take badminton to another level hair.

Coaches need funding, tournaments, far more needs to be done if we want

to take it to a higher level here. There are players here that perhaps

don't have the opportunity. You can see her delight in wearing a Jersey

shirt again, and she will face former England team`mate Sarah

Walker tomorrow afternoon. Not such good news for team Guernsey

whom lost in the mixed doubles. Fingers crossed for the men's and

women's doubles teams, who played tonight.

Table tennis, and Alice Loveridge has made it through to the second

round of the women's singles. Here she is playing yesterday. She beat

the moderation player 4`2. Had team`mate has been knocked out of

the singles, tissue and after a straight sets defeat. Alice will be

in action at 7:10pm. Serena also be on court tonight. Jerzy does not

have a netball team at the Commonwealth games, so she is

representing England. It is the last of their pool games against

when he gets to take on the rest of the world at the 2016 Olympics.

their best score, but they felt they had done enough. They felt deserved

the gold. They were not expecting the goals, but they felt that they

deserved it. And they are in the individual event

tomorrow. This is a massive event. They want

to get the medals. It is a big scale competition. As long as she holds

her nerve she will be fantastic. Tom Daley will be appealing. That

was confirmed today. `` Tom Daley will be taking part.

He will be showing everybody that he is still number one in the world.

The Chinese will not be there. He will be wanting goals in the

individual. `` wanting a gold medal. And lining up beside him is another

diver for Plymouth. It is a real treat for him to be

designed as a safe place for young people to skateboard, scooter

and BMX and hopefully learn some useful life skills in the process.

Welcome to The Lodge. Devon's newest indoor

skate park. This is one of the teenage volunteers here. He has just

qualified to teach skateboarding. They are not just giving us a skate

park. They are giving us a community to work into. It is keeping

kids from doing bad stuff. They are just helping us. I would ask

anybody to pick up one of these sports because

you just can't get enough joy out of it.

The Lodge is a social enterprise designed in an era of council

spending cuts to be self funding. The woman behind it says she wanted

to be a safe space for young people to hang out and make their own.

The name has come from the young people because they wanted to

be a place they can call their own, a place that they can come, like a

second home to them. A lot of these young people are disengaged young
