People on an estate in south London say they're living in fear

for their safety - as building work takes place all around them.

Hundreds of new homes are being built in Lambeth to replace

But the residents say building work is going on around them

This is the shiny new future they have been promised. But to get their

residence on this estate in Lambeth must wait for their homes to be torn

down and rebuilt around them. And that means living on a demolition

site. Amongst derelict houses. It is not being treated like a building

site, they are not securing it well enough, there are health and safety

risks. Look at all of these bits left unattended. We have got a lot

of kids in the area so they could easily come in. They need to enforce

the health and safety and make sure these sites are properly secured to

prevent a part -- horrible accident. This property has been empty until a

couple of months ago and until recently you could walk inside there

and we were told a couple of nights ago people came and started a fire

inside which is why all of this stuff was brought outside. The door

has been boarded up by the developers but you can see that none

of this area has been secured. Cowboy builders! There is much anger

here towards the developers. Residence on the North State now

what Lambeth Council to in between -- intervened. For some of those

already in their new homes it has not been a happy ending they were

hoping for. -- North estate. This is where the leak is coming from and

that is why the cupboard is like that and it needs to be replaced.

The quality of the properties is poor, they look nice and they are

lovely but there is a sound issue for us. It is the sound and the

floods and the leaks and the issues with hot water. We haven't had hot

water for weeks or months. The developer, magenta, says there is a

repairs team on hand and that derelict properties are checked

every day. Meanwhile, Lambeth Council says it is investigating the

alleged breaches of health and safety. But with years until all

this is complete residents say they will continue to shout to ensure

they are not forgotten amongst the rubble.

The police watchdog, the IPCC, is investigating the death of a man

in Islington, after an incident involving the Metropolitan Police

A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have bailed a man and a woman who were arrested yesterday

on suspicion of conspiracy to commit female genital mutilation.

A 72-year-old Ugandan man was stopped at Heathrow Airport

after arriving on a flight from Kampala with an 11-year-old girl.

A 40-year-old woman was later arrested in Hackney.

The child has been taken into social services.

Police in Kent investigating a violent burglary are appealing for

witnesses to come forward. Rani and Jas Apaul were asleep

in bed when the intruders struck They were assaulted with a baseball

bat. The thieves took cash, jewellery and other personal items.

We have been here 16 years and never worried about this sort of thing.

When it comes to round about 10pm at night we start getting very

anxious. Hundreds of passengers arriving

at Gatwick Airport have been told to go home without luggage

because Officials

at the airport have apologised - Some passengers said they'd been

waiting up to five hours to get their suitcases, before officials

decided to send them home. Gatwick has said their baggage will

be sent on to them. We have got some showers

in the forecast for tomorrow. There is a risk of showers

of dry weather around tonight. More comfortable to sleep in

recent nights at 12 to 15 Celsius. Lots of dry weather to start

tomorrow with sunshine but the showers out towards the east

making their way towards central London and they will be slow-moving

and agree with some hail mixed in. Plenty of sunshine either side of

those showers but if you catch one it will be quite torrential, so The

Met office issued a weather warning in force through the day tomorrow

for those thundery down pours. Tuesday will be drier and brighter

with good spells of sunshine and feeling a little warmer too,

back up into the higher 20 Celsius. Some cloud but generally drier

in the middle part of the week. I will be back at 10:25pm. Have a

has been much more comfortable. The coming few days, if we get sunshine

it will be pleasantly warm. It's not a completely dried story because
