British Airways is to be sued over claims that one of its pilots

sexually abused children during stopovers in East Africa. Simon Wood

from Hertfordshire was dew to appear in court last August over further

allegations of assaulting an 8`year`old girl in the UK but the

pilot was found dead after being hit by a train.

British Airways flies nearly 100,000 people every day of the year. That's

British Airways is involved with charities around the world. Showing

in on`board videos some of which the good work of its staff. But to its

embarrassment one of its employees was using BA's charitable work as a

cover to allegedly abuse children. 54`year`old Simon Wood was a First

Officer on long haul flights. For more than a decade he regularly flew

out to East Africa, stopping over in Nairobi. It is claimed that between

2003 and last year, he abused 16 children in Kenya, Tanzania and

Uganda. The allegations ranging from inappropriate touching to rape. One

of his alleged victims was as young as five. This London lawyer has been

out to Kenya to talk to some of them. It is devastating. It's life

changing. They all saw this person as somebody that could help them, a

respected person at the airline able to assist them and went on to abuse

that. Those victim are now suing BA for alleged negligence. This is one

of the orphanages that Simon Wood visited in Kenya. It is claimed he

was found with indecent photos ten years ago at a charity and was asked

to leave. The question is, did BA know? Simon Wood was found dead near

Potters Bar station on August 18th last year. He'd been struck by a

train. 12 days later he was dew at Southwark k by a train. 12 days

later he was dew at Southwark Crown Court `` due at Southwark Crown

Court to face further allegations, including a charge of indecent

assault on an 8`year`old girl in the UK. Today an inquest found he

committed suicide. He felt it was his only way out, according to the

coroner. British Airways said it couldn't go into detail because of

pending litigation. But in a statement said:

The case is expected to go to the High Court later this year.

homes, energy, schools and transport. The Mayor of London

outlined his thoughts on how the capital needed to change. It

includes building 600 new schools and colleges and many more homes

each year. Three Muslim organisations including

the Finsbury Park Mosque in North London are having their bank

accounts closed by HSBC. The mosque described the move as Islam phobic

but the bank dismissed claims that they are being targeted because of

their religious or political affiliations. It has indicated that

it thinks doing business with them is too risky.

Anas Al`Tikriti run as think`tank on Islamic issues in London. He's been

told by HSBC that his personal and business accounts and those of his

wife and two children will close in two months. He says the bank hasn't

given him a proper explanation. Those organisations are mostly

charities. The link is that many of them, if not all of them, are quite

active on the case of Palestine, so I am left to speculate that this is

why. And that would be a great shame if that were true. The Finsbury Park

Mosque in North London and a bolt```` bolt`based charity were

given notice that their accounts would be closed. The mosque made

headline as decade ago because of its connections with rebel cleric

Abu Hamza. The letters that we received and all the letters have

that been sent clearly doesn't give an absolute reason to why it was

closed in the first place, so it could lead us only to explain why

there isn't reason given. We believe it is an Islamophobic campaign

targeting Muslim charities in the UK. It is a good community mosque,

good facilities, a nice vibe and the local community use the meeting

rooms there. They've been happy to take money from the mosque in the

last ten years. They need to explain why it is not acceptable for that

The Charity Commission has confirmed that it is not investigating any of

the organisations involved, and says that if the charities don't have a

relationship with a bank, it could harm public trust in their work.

Big changes to West London's hospitals came a step closer today

with the go`ahead given to plans which will see around half of

Charing Cross and St Mary's hospitals sold off. Health bosses

say care will improve, as our political correspondent reports.

The chanting the posters and the leaflets are a familiar sight in

knees parts of the capital. This has been a long`running campaign about

huge changes to the hospitals. Plans to close or downgrade two A at

Hammersmith and Charing Cross. They saved my husband's life. He had

emergency surgery and was there for ten days. He was able to ask for

advice whenever he wants. We've been campaigning. If you stand outside

Charing Cross Hospital with a petition, thousands of people come

up to you and say this hospital saved my life. It is part of a

reshaping of services that will see other West London A go. It is not

just Hammersmith and Central Middlesex but Charing Cross and

Ealing. It is unprecedented. The biggest experiment in the NHS's

history to take away this many. I think it is madness. Today the board

of imperial healthcare voted through their plans. Money will be spent on

new service but large parts of the Charing Cross and St Mary's slights

be sold off to pay for it. They a range of facilities to keep people

well, allow access to emergency care. At Hammersmith there'll be an

urgent care centre. This is the sort of future health bosses are

promising. Katie is in charge of cancer care at Imperial. At this

centre patients can get all of their tests and consultations done in one

day. Change is hard but I'm hoping if we can show what it could be

like, that will enable people to show that the future is better than

they've got now. Hammersmith A shuts in a month. Rebuilding work at

Charing Cross and St Mary's will start in three months' time.
