:01:22.:01:25.

Welcome to the BBC News at one o'clock.

:01:25.:01:31.

A bomb has explodeden a bus in the centre of Tel Aviv wounding at

:01:31.:01:36.

least 17 people. The Palestinian group, Hamas said it was behind the

:01:36.:01:43.

attack. This morning Israel Israel continued its bombardment of Gaza

:01:43.:01:46.

while diplomatic efforts are being made to end the violence. Ban Ki-

:01:46.:01:50.

Moon met the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas and the US Secretary

:01:50.:01:56.

of State, Hillary Clinton has just arrived in Cairo for more talks. We

:01:56.:02:00.

will hear from Wyre Davies who is is in Gaza City, but first Katya

:02:00.:02:06.

Adler in Tel Aviv. There is a lot of shock here in Tel

:02:06.:02:11.

Aviv in the aftermath of that bus bombing. Tel Aviv, Israel's

:02:11.:02:15.

cultural commercial capital used to being removed from conflict these

:02:15.:02:19.

days. Since this military operation began in the Gaza Strip, it is the

:02:19.:02:24.

first time that a Gaza rocket landed in this city and now the bus

:02:24.:02:28.

bombing. Everybody here is wondering whether this will be a

:02:28.:02:34.

game changer. This area known for liberal Israelis and they are they

:02:34.:02:37.

are calling for the military operation to continue.

:02:37.:02:42.

These scenes have sent shivers of fear across Israel. A a bus bomb in

:02:42.:02:44.

the country's commercial heart, Tel Aviv.

:02:44.:02:50.

Ten people were injured in the attack. This is a bus filled with

:02:50.:02:55.

people in the centre of Tel Aviv that somebody tried to kill, by

:02:55.:03:04.

putting a bomb inside. Eyewitnesses say the bomber boarded the bus

:03:04.:03:07.

close do Israel's military headquarters. They say he through

:03:07.:03:10.

an explosive towards the back seat and ran away. Police in Tel Aviv

:03:10.:03:16.

are hunting for the bomber while Hamas in Gaza says it masterminded

:03:16.:03:26.
:03:26.:03:29.

the attack. TRANSLATION: Hamas blesses the

:03:29.:03:31.

martyrs which targeted Tel Aviv and confirms this operation is a

:03:31.:03:33.

natural reaction to the targeting of civilians, women and children in

:03:33.:03:35.

Gaza. The bus has just been taken away

:03:35.:03:37.

for examination. Really in crowded Tel Aviv, the casualty count to

:03:37.:03:41.

have been higher, but this isn't just about physical injury,

:03:41.:03:46.

Israelis are saying they feel exposed. This wasn't a rocket from

:03:46.:03:49.

Gaza, people are worried this could be the start of a new wave of

:03:49.:03:53.

bombings in Israel on buses. Elsewhere in Israel, rockets from

:03:53.:03:57.

Gaza continued to fall today as Israel kept up its bombing over the

:03:57.:04:02.

Gaza border. On the ground, a ceasefire deal seems a far away

:04:02.:04:08.

prospect. And in the aftermath of that bus bombing here in Tel Aviv,

:04:08.:04:11.

really London Underground explosions were heard in the Gaza

:04:11.:04:15.

Strip as Israel retaliated. Big international names continue in the

:04:15.:04:20.

region, you mentioned some of those already, but the mood here is not a

:04:20.:04:30.
:04:30.:04:33.

Wyre? Yes, as we heard from Katia, the

:04:33.:04:36.

Israeli bombing continues. You can probably hear it in the background.

:04:36.:04:40.

At least 11 people have been killed in Gaza today including several

:04:40.:04:44.

civilians and while some some people are hoping there there might

:04:44.:04:48.

be a ceasefire negotiated in the coming hours, they are worried it

:04:48.:04:52.

won't bring about any lasting change.

:04:52.:04:58.

Another overnight attack in Gaza. One of the biggest so far. The main

:04:58.:05:01.

administration compound flattened in an Israeli airstrike. Israel

:05:01.:05:06.

says these targets are directly linked to Hamas militants. For

:05:06.:05:11.

people here, they are part of the political infrastructure.

:05:11.:05:15.

Even before the dust settled, they were back reconnecting power

:05:15.:05:19.

supplies and clearing the streets. Whether or not this there is a

:05:19.:05:24.

ceasefire, life here has to go on. If there is to be a lasting truce,

:05:24.:05:28.

this des strict yourself cycle has to be broken. At the end of a

:05:28.:05:33.

conflict, Gaza is allowed to rebuild its institutions and

:05:33.:05:37.

infrastructure, but frustrated with the Israeli blockade and its

:05:38.:05:41.

restrictions, Palestinian militants fire more and more rockets into

:05:41.:05:44.

Israel. There is an overwhelming Israeli

:05:44.:05:48.

military response and much of what has been built up is destroyed.

:05:48.:05:55.

On both sides, civilians always suffer. This travel agency has been

:05:55.:05:59.

here for 50 years. It just happens to be on the same street as the

:05:59.:06:09.

Ministry. This is a civilian area. I ask my

:06:09.:06:16.

god. Do you have any insurance? No, no.

:06:16.:06:20.

This afternoon, Israel responded to the attack on Tel Aviv. The voices

:06:20.:06:25.

of those who want all of this to end are in danger of being drowned

:06:25.:06:34.

Just in the last couple of seconds, there was another rocket attack. We

:06:34.:06:39.

heard the sound of the rocket coming in. It hit a building 500

:06:39.:06:47.

yards behind us. There is a the lot of in Gaza that Israel is about to

:06:47.:06:49.

retaliate for the bus bombing. There might be a ceasefire soon,

:06:49.:06:53.

but I think Israel is going to pound Gaza first and the dip mats

:06:53.:06:57.

who are doing their best to reach a solution are going to have their

:06:57.:07:00.

work cut out. Wyre, thank you very much.

:07:00.:07:09.

I caning Hillary Clinton has arrived in Cairo. Let's get more

:07:09.:07:13.

from Jon Leyne who is there and we will talk about That the hopes for

:07:13.:07:17.

a ceasefire, but she has given her reaction to the day's events?

:07:17.:07:20.

That's right, Hillary Clinton, the America Secretary of State

:07:20.:07:24.

condemned the bus bombing and and sent her condolences to relatives

:07:24.:07:30.

of those injury. She has arrived and she is going into talks.

:07:30.:07:35.

The hopes don't sound high from the correspondents we have heard from

:07:35.:07:40.

in Israel and Gaza City. What's your assessment from what you are

:07:40.:07:45.

hearing on the ground? The bus bombing will strengthen the han of

:07:45.:07:50.

hardliners -- hand of hardliners on both side. There is pressure from

:07:50.:07:54.

Hillary Clinton, herself and from the Egyptians and from other

:07:54.:07:58.

players including the UN Secretary- General who want the ceasefire to

:07:58.:08:00.

be clinched. They have the framework of a deal which involves

:08:00.:08:05.

lifting the blockade on Gaza, but also tightening controls over the

:08:05.:08:11.

border between Gaza and Egypt to prevent the flow of arms and

:08:11.:08:14.

militants teen the two areas. -- teen the to areas. I sense there

:08:14.:08:17.

will be pressure for this deal to go ahead. There is only a few

:08:17.:08:21.

details left to be sorted out now, but it could be a long night.

:08:21.:08:26.

Jon, thank you. Jon Leyne there.

:08:26.:08:30.

Church of England bishops and other members of the synod have been

:08:30.:08:35.

discussing last night's narrow vote not to allow women bishops. A

:08:35.:08:39.

minority of lay members voted against it. The Archbishop of

:08:39.:08:41.

Canterbury, Rowan Williams, said the decision means the Church of

:08:41.:08:47.

England has lost a measure of credibility as he put it. Buchanan

:08:47.:08:51.

is at Church House for us with more. Emily?

:08:51.:08:55.

Yes, it is that loss of credibility that I think worries people across

:08:55.:08:58.

the church. In fact, both traditionalists and those in favour

:08:58.:09:02.

of women bishops are aware of the headlines today and also that when

:09:02.:09:06.

it comes to trying to attract more people into the church, this is not

:09:06.:09:12.

going to play well. Disunitty and division the emotions that we have

:09:12.:09:15.

seen does not help to fill the seats.

:09:16.:09:19.

The weather matched the mood amongst bishops. Their authority

:09:19.:09:26.

undermined by yesterday's vote. The Archbishop of Canterbury made

:09:26.:09:29.

an unscheduled statement to the synod.

:09:29.:09:33.

Every day in which we fail to resolve this to our satisfaction in

:09:33.:09:36.

the Church of England -- and the Church of England's satisfaction is

:09:36.:09:40.

a day when our creditability in the public eye is likely to diminish

:09:40.:09:46.

and we have to take that seriously however uncomfortable that message

:09:46.:09:48.

maybe. There is a matter of mission here and we can't afford to hang

:09:48.:09:53.

about. But hurry isn't in the church's DNA,

:09:53.:09:56.

a workable formula will take years to find. Bishops and clergy voted

:09:57.:10:01.

in favour of women bishops, but it was amongst lay members the measure

:10:01.:10:04.

was rejected. We are unGod's health authority --

:10:04.:10:09.

under God's health authority authority. -- God's authority. We

:10:09.:10:13.

need to be patient with ourselves and with with one another. Yes, we

:10:13.:10:18.

have taken a long time, but reconciliation between deeply held

:10:18.:10:22.

views does take a long time if you want the outcome to stick.

:10:22.:10:25.

Anglicans who have campaigned for decades for women's equality in the

:10:25.:10:32.

in the church say traditionalist s had opt-outs.

:10:32.:10:37.

Nothing that is offered is ever good enough. This is what is want

:10:37.:10:43.

sd a church -- want sd a church within a church and that's not what

:10:43.:10:50.

the Church of England is about. There is sympathy for the next

:10:50.:10:56.

Archbishop of Canterbury. First of all, can I congratulate you...

:10:56.:11:04.

not sure you can. LAUGHTER

:11:04.:11:07.

I thought high a difficult job over the last 48 hours, I see you have

:11:07.:11:09.

got a much more difficult job and I wish you very well.

:11:09.:11:13.

Justin Welby will need a sense of humour as he looks for a way out of

:11:13.:11:23.
:11:23.:11:25.

Politicians clearly are sympathetic to the church. They don't have to

:11:25.:11:29.

get a two-thirds majority in the Houses of Parliament to get things

:11:29.:11:33.

done. Today David Cameron in Prime Minister's Questions said how sad

:11:33.:11:37.

he was at the -- that the legislation didn't get through. He

:11:37.:11:39.

said he was in favour of women bishops. He said it was very

:11:39.:11:45.

important that the church didn't become too out of step with society.

:11:45.:11:49.

Thank you. Thousands of children are being

:11:49.:11:53.

sexually eye bused by gangs in England each year and thousands

:11:53.:11:58.

more are at risk of exploitation. The study from the Office of the

:11:59.:12:01.

Children's Commissioner says the figures are a wake-up call about

:12:01.:12:08.

the scale of the problem. Alison Holt reports.

:12:08.:12:12.

Today's report paints a picture of a deeply troubling, often hidden

:12:12.:12:15.

world, where vulnerable children and teenagers are targeted by

:12:15.:12:20.

groups of men or gangs. Groomed and then sexually exploited. It warns

:12:20.:12:24.

this is happening in many different parts of the country and it is

:12:24.:12:27.

highlighted by major cases such as the jailing of nine men for abusing

:12:27.:12:33.

girls as young as 13 in Rochdale. This teenager, who has asked not to

:12:33.:12:38.

be identified, was among those targeted in Rochdale. She was given

:12:38.:12:42.

alcohol and cigarettes. I thought it was dead good because

:12:42.:12:45.

you are getting this free stuff and everything. You think that you are

:12:45.:12:49.

taking advantage of them. I don't know, you just don't expect that

:12:49.:12:53.

sort of thing to happen. She says there were signs of what

:12:53.:12:57.

was happening. I think I just went really quiet and I was never really

:12:58.:13:02.

at school and I was dirty like my clothes were dirty and things and I

:13:02.:13:07.

didn't take care of myself at all. I was drunk a lot of the time.

:13:07.:13:11.

The deputy children's Children's Commissioner's report says warnings

:13:11.:13:14.

of sexual exploitation need to be picked up. Information is patchy,

:13:14.:13:20.

but it it identifies 2,400 children in England who were sexually

:13:20.:13:25.

exploited over 14 months and estimates over a year, 16,500

:13:25.:13:29.

children showed signs of being at risk. It also insists abusers come

:13:29.:13:35.

from many backgrounds. Even though most convicted in cases of Rochdale

:13:35.:13:40.

have been of Pakistani origin. Perpetrators come from all ethnic

:13:40.:13:45.

groups and indeed, are white which is not surprising given that the

:13:45.:13:47.

ethnic group in this country is white.

:13:47.:13:53.

The Government says it wants all the issues raised to be carefully

:13:53.:13:56.

and thoroughly examined. It is right that we look at all

:13:56.:14:00.

victims in this matter and we look at all perpetrators in this matter.

:14:00.:14:04.

We must not allow our response and the figures in relation to the

:14:04.:14:10.

extent of this this problem to be distorted in the the interests of

:14:10.:14:14.

political correctionness. Over the next year the inquiry

:14:14.:14:21.

inquiry team will look at best best to tackle sexual exploitation

:14:21.:14:23.

wherever it happens. The National Audit Office says the

:14:23.:14:28.

Treasury is losing billions because Revenue and Customs are struggling

:14:28.:14:34.

to clamp down on aggressive tax avoidance schemes.

:14:34.:14:38.

Heavy rain led to flooding with motorists needing to be rescued

:14:38.:14:42.

from roads with some villages cut off in the south-west of England.

:14:42.:14:45.

The Environment Agency has issued 51 flood warnings in the south-west

:14:45.:14:50.

and the Midlands and 89 flood alerts arross the rest of the

:14:50.:14:54.

country. New borrowing figures revealed the

:14:54.:14:58.

extent of the pressure on public finances with the Government forced

:14:58.:15:05.

to borrow more money than expected. Our economics editor, Stephanie

:15:05.:15:09.

Flanders is here. That means the total borrowing for the year to

:15:10.:15:15.

date is 5 blg billion higher thang anticipated -- 5 billion

:15:15.:15:23.

It's disappointing for the Chancellor and two weeks before the

:15:23.:15:27.

autumn statement. He needs to get control of the Government debt and

:15:27.:15:31.

the answer is that he's not doing very well. It's not just that he

:15:31.:15:34.

had to borrow more, because the numbers bounce around an awful lot,

:15:34.:15:39.

but as you suggested. It's so far in this tax year, the seven months

:15:39.:15:44.

since April, the Government's had to borrow 5 billion more than last

:15:44.:15:47.

year. Remember, this is a Government that wants it to be

:15:47.:15:50.

going down, not up. Now, it's clear that the weakness of the economy

:15:50.:15:55.

has had a lot to do with that, but the Government's not spending a lot

:15:55.:16:00.

more than it expected to, but it's getting a lot less growth in tax

:16:00.:16:03.

revenues, particularly corporation tax revenues. They are nearly 10%

:16:03.:16:07.

lower than they were last year, when the Treasury was hoping they

:16:07.:16:11.

would rise. You might see this add fuel to the debate about whether

:16:11.:16:14.

big companies are paying enough tax, although it's still quite a small

:16:14.:16:19.

share of the overall picture. We know that the weak economy and

:16:19.:16:23.

revenues is making it harder for the Chancellor and making it more

:16:23.:16:26.

likely we'll have bad news. He may have to announce that borrowing

:16:26.:16:30.

will be higher, not lower and it will take him longer to get control

:16:30.:16:39.

of the public finances. Thank you. Fighting continues in the Middle

:16:39.:16:44.

East. A bomb's exploded on a bus in Tel Aviv and there have been a

:16:44.:16:48.

series of explosions in Gaza. Coming up - why heavy drinking and

:16:48.:16:51.

high levels of obesity mean England is one of the few countries in

:16:51.:17:00.

Europe where deaths from liver disease are increasing. Later in

:17:01.:17:04.

London, the business owners who say their neighbourhood is a ghost town.

:17:04.:17:08.

A BBC London poll shows that one third of Londoners find it hard to

:17:08.:17:16.

find friends and don't even know their neighbours. After days of

:17:16.:17:18.

clashes between Government troops and rebel fighters, the president

:17:18.:17:22.

of the Democratic Republic of Congo has met the president of Rwanda to

:17:22.:17:24.

discuss the conflict. The meeting comes after rebel fighters took

:17:24.:17:27.

control of the city of Goma. The rebels say they will now liberate

:17:27.:17:30.

the rest of the country. Our correspondent, Gabriel Gatehouse,

:17:30.:17:39.

sent this report from Goma. Just days ago, these men were fighting

:17:39.:17:45.

in the bush. Today, they wield the power here in this City of one

:17:45.:17:49.

million people. The rebels have summoned the people to the stadium.

:17:49.:17:53.

They wait, a little nervously, perhaps, to hear what the future

:17:53.:18:00.

holds here under rebel control. The Presidents of Congo, Rwanda and

:18:00.:18:05.

Uganda have been meeting in Kampala to try to diffuse this crisis, but

:18:05.:18:10.

the rebels are busy recruiting. They claim more than 2,500

:18:10.:18:13.

policemen and soldiers joined them, handing over their guns to rebel

:18:13.:18:19.

commanders. But this police captain told us he wasn't here willingly.

:18:19.:18:27.

He said he had no choice but to submit. The senior commander

:18:27.:18:31.

addresses the crowd and promises order, security and to improve

:18:31.:18:34.

people's lives. He also vows to continue the fight all the way to

:18:34.:18:41.

the capital if necessary. This rebel commander has just asked the

:18:41.:18:45.

crowd do they want the rebels to store here, or want them to carry

:18:45.:18:50.

on. There has been a huge cheer of encouragement from the crowd. Yes,

:18:50.:18:54.

they say, carry on. The rebels are flushed with success. They feel

:18:54.:18:58.

like they hold all the chips and it will be up to the Government to

:18:58.:19:05.

come to them to negotiate. If the rebels mean what they say then this

:19:05.:19:11.

is a conflict that is in danger of spreading. Throughout Congo and

:19:11.:19:20.

possibly beyond, that is. Police in Shropshire say a week-old baby boy

:19:20.:19:25.

has died after being bitten by a dog in Telford. The police say the

:19:25.:19:29.

incident appeared to be a tragying accident and the jack russell has

:19:29.:19:33.

been destroyed. A woman accused of murdering her son after he failed

:19:33.:19:36.

to memorise passages of the Koran, claims her husband was responsible

:19:36.:19:40.

for beating him to death. Sara Ege from Cardiff broke down in court as

:19:40.:19:42.

she described seeing seven-year-old Yaseen turn blue. Our correspondent,

:19:42.:19:49.

Hywel Griffith, was in court. Clearly distressing. What has the

:19:49.:19:53.

court heard today? Three weeks into this murder trial, Sara Ege took to

:19:53.:19:57.

the stand to give her version of what happened on the day that her

:19:57.:20:00.

son died. She said that the boy had tried to intervene in a fight

:20:00.:20:05.

between her and her husband, but then he had then turned on the son,

:20:05.:20:08.

hitting and kicking him to the ground. That, she said, was the

:20:08.:20:13.

latest in a series of beatings, but it proved to be fatal. She started

:20:13.:20:16.

to weep as she described how her son had bled from the mouth and

:20:16.:20:20.

started to turn blue. She said that both parents had then panicked and

:20:20.:20:24.

it was arranged that a fire would be lit in order to destroy the

:20:24.:20:28.

evidence. She then claimed that she had been told to rehearse a story

:20:29.:20:33.

to tell the police, that she was to say she had become frustrated with

:20:33.:20:37.

her son as he was trying to memorise peacages of the Koran. She

destroying the body. Her husband, Yaseen Ali Ege edge, also on trial,

:21:03.:21:06.

and high levels of obesity mean England is one of the few countries

:21:06.:21:09.

in Europe where deaths from liver disease are on the rise. The

:21:09.:21:11.

country's Chief Medical Officer, Professor Dame Sally Davies, says

:21:11.:21:13.

the problem needs comprehensive action. Our health correspondent,

:21:13.:21:17.

Dominic Hughes, reports. Obesity and excessive drinking are among

:21:17.:21:23.

the biggest challenges faced by public health experts. Today's

:21:23.:21:27.

record -- report makes clear that progress is patchy at best. In

:21:27.:21:30.

particular, Dame Sally Davies is concerned about the impact on

:21:30.:21:37.

chronic liver disease and cirrhosis. Liver disease is caused by

:21:37.:21:40.

hepatitis and obesity and increasingly harmful drinking. In

:21:40.:21:47.

those under 65 deaths in England were up by around 20% between 2000

:21:47.:21:51.

and 2009. Over the same period, most other EU countries saw deaths

:21:51.:21:57.

fall by the same amount. If you look at the causes of liver disease

:21:57.:22:03.

they are generally alcohol, obesity and infections. They are all

:22:03.:22:07.

preventable or treatable. This is a real call for action. We need

:22:07.:22:12.

people to think about their lifestyles and how they'll get a

:22:12.:22:16.

grip and protect their livers. of the problem with liver disease

:22:16.:22:20.

is that it can be hard to detect until it's too late. It doesn't

:22:20.:22:24.

discriminate, affecting even this man, the Chief Executive of the

:22:24.:22:27.

Liver Trust, can campaigns for greater awareness of the condition.

:22:27.:22:30.

I had an ultra-sound at the beginning of the year that showed

:22:30.:22:35.

my liver wasn't as healthy as I had hoped and that I needed to do

:22:35.:22:39.

something to prevent liver disease becoming more of a problem. So, I

:22:39.:22:44.

had to change my habits around drinking, around my diet and try to

:22:44.:22:49.

reduce my obesity. Also, getting fitter. Alcohol campaign groups say

:22:49.:22:53.

people need to know more about the dangers posed by heavy drinking.

:22:53.:22:56.

The big concern for the average person is what often seems like

:22:56.:23:00.

normal, moderate drinking is actually drinking at a level which

:23:00.:23:04.

will cause them harm and the real problem is that they won't realise

:23:04.:23:07.

until it's too late and the damage has been done. The Government is

:23:07.:23:11.

preparing to ask for public views on the introduction of a minimum

:23:11.:23:15.

price per unit of alcohol. It could be a controversial move, but the

:23:15.:23:20.

toll taken by excess drinking has pushed alcohol up the agenda.

Chelsea Football Club have sacked their manager, Roberto Di Matteo.

:23:23.:23:26.

The club's owner, Roman Abramovich, and the Chelsea Board said the

:23:26.:23:28.

change was necessary following recent poor performances. Last

:23:28.:23:31.

night, the team was beaten 3-0 by Juventus - severely damaging their

:23:31.:23:33.

UEFA Champions League prospects. Our sports correspondent, James

Pearce, is at Chelsea's west-london ground. James. Chelsea are looking

:23:45.:23:51.

for their ninth manager in nine years. Roberto Di Matteo lasted 262

:23:51.:23:55.

days and at that time he won both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

:23:55.:23:59.

The managerial position here is not one for anyone looking for long-

:23:59.:24:03.

term job prospects. The owner once again has showed that for him

:24:03.:24:08.

second-best is simply not good enough. He arrived in Turin as a

:24:08.:24:13.

man under pressure. But it was the manner of Chelsea's defeat that

:24:13.:24:20.

sealed his fate. The Londoners were outplayed, comprehensively beaten

:24:20.:24:23.

3-0. A result which means that qualification for the Champions

:24:23.:24:29.

League is now out of their hands. The manager probably realised that

:24:29.:24:33.

his chances of growing the ever- growing list of ex-managers were

increasing by the minute. There didn't seem to be much conviction

behind his comments. responsible for the results and at

the moment I am here and I think I will be for the future, so it's not

:24:47.:24:51.

a question you should ask me, but as far as I'm concerned, I'll keep

:24:51.:24:59.

working. How quickly things have changed. It's only six months since

:24:59.:25:02.

Roberto Di Matteo and his team were celebrating the club's first

:25:03.:25:06.

Champions League triumph. He had only been a caretaker manager at

:25:06.:25:12.

the time, but was given the job on a full-time basis. Astonished

:25:12.:25:16.

really. It goes to show how precarious we are as Premiership

:25:16.:25:22.

managers and you can't take anything for granted. Chelsea's

:25:22.:25:27.

door is reing involving and Andre Villas-Boas lasted only eight

:25:27.:25:34.

months. Carlo Ancelotti won the Premier League and the FA Cup. That

wasn't enough. Guus Hiddink had three and also won an FA Cup.

skhror only lasted seven months. Avram Grant didn't last long and

:25:53.:25:57.

then there's Jose Mourinho, the special one, the manager that

:25:57.:26:02.

supporters really regret losing. Chelsea are hoping to make an

:26:02.:26:05.

announcement later today. The man at the centre of the majority of

the speculation is a former lver pool manager, Rafael Benitez. --

Liverpool manager, Rafael Benitez. I think Rafael Benitez will come in

:26:16.:26:20.

with the Torres and Spanish connection and you need something

:26:20.:26:23.

instant. Pep Guardiola is the most wanted manager in international

:26:23.:26:27.

football, after the success he achieved at Barcelona. But he's

:26:27.:26:31.

taking a year out of the game and it appears that even Roman

:26:31.:26:36.

Abramovich's billions won't persuade him to change his mind.

:26:36.:26:40.

Rafael Benitez is currently in Abu Dhabi, where he's been making a

:26:40.:26:44.

speech. His advisers have told the BBC this morning there has been no

:26:44.:26:50.

contact with Chelsea, so we should be a little cautious. Although

:26:50.:26:54.

Roman Abramovich has shown with this speed that once he made his

:26:54.:27:00.

mind up he's happy to move very quickly. Kate wincelet, Gary Barlow

:27:00.:27:03.

and Darren Clarke have all been honoured by the Queen at Buckingham

:27:04.:27:08.

Palace this morning. Miss Wincelet, who collected a CBE said she talked

with the Queen about the joys of mother hood. -- motherhood.

:27:15.:27:21.

Honoured for a 21-year career in entertainment and for adding a

:27:21.:27:25.

touch of showbiz to the Diamond Jubilee, Gary Barlow received his

:27:25.:27:29.

OBE from the Queen. It was also a reward for his charity work. He

:27:29.:27:39.
:27:39.:27:40.

said he was deeply proud. Despite some ups and downs, but largely

:27:40.:27:47.

under his direction, gary Barlow has made Take That one of Britain's

:27:47.:27:51.

most successful bands. He also masterminded the Diamond Jubilee

:27:51.:27:56.

concert in June, cajoling artists to take part and performing himself

:27:56.:28:02.

and helping stage the entire event. Today's investiture is not short on

:28:02.:28:05.

celebrity. As well as Gary Barlow, there is an Oscar-winning actress

:28:05.:28:09.

and championship golfer being honoured. For Darren Clarke, this

:28:10.:28:15.

was a family celebration and one to match his greatest golfing success.

:28:15.:28:20.

How does this compare with an Open win or Ryder Cup victory? It's

:28:20.:28:25.

right up there obviously, but the Open stuff and Ryder Cup that's

:28:25.:28:29.

much easier than this bit. It was good. For Kate wincelet there was

:28:29.:28:34.

now a CBE to go with her Oscar. Receiving her reward, she spoke to

:28:34.:28:37.

the Queen about acting, but also about motherhood and said the Queen

:28:37.:28:44.

told her that being a mother was the best job. It was an

:28:44.:28:48.

extraordinary moment. My children are beaming in the background and

:28:48.:28:53.

giving me cheeky waves, so yeah, it was fantastic. Despite being used

:28:53.:28:59.

to the trappings of success, Kate wincelet said there was a sense of

:28:59.:29:09.
:29:09.:29:10.

-- winslet said there was a sense of gravity that felt overwhelming.

England and the Midlands. Let me show you all the rain we have had.

:29:42.:29:45.

This was a soaking earlier in the south-west of England and parts of

:29:45.:29:50.

Wales. It is dry here now. The heavy rain is running away east

:29:51.:29:54.

through the Midlands. We'll keep rain for the next few hours across

:29:54.:29:57.

parts of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and East Midlands and East Anglia

:29:58.:30:02.

and south-east. As the rain clears, we could see gales. Further west,

:30:02.:30:05.

it's better and we have sun, although temperatures are not as

:30:06.:30:10.

high as yesterday. This evening, we see the back of this rain from

:30:10.:30:16.

eastern England. Patchy mist and fog, before the wind picks up. Some

:30:16.:30:20.

intense, squally rain will sweep into Northern Ireland and later in

:30:20.:30:25.

the west of Scotland. There are more warnings tomorrow. It's the

:30:25.:30:27.

amber warning that we have across south-west England and parts of

:30:27.:30:32.

South Wales, so be prepared for some more flooding. We have the

:30:32.:30:35.

rain early in the morning clearing away from Northern Ireland. The

winds will drop significantly as the rain clears. Very wet, very

morning, it will be dry and it could be dry until late in the day.

:31:01.:31:06.

We get a hammering across Scotland, very wet and very windy and same

coming into northern and western parts and across Wales and then as

soon as the rape clears, the winds drop so it does quieten down across

Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Yet to see the rain at

3pm across the south-east, but we are all going to get a spell of

:31:22.:31:30.

very heavy rain and potentially damaging winds. Gales are possible

inland. The rain could linger for a while on Friday in the extreme

:31:34.:31:37.

south-east of England, otherwise Friday should be quieter with

sunshine and showers, but there is sunshine and showers, but there is
