The eight-year-old boy who died in a slurry tank accident in

:00:00.:00:08.

County Antrim yesterday afternoon was Robert Christie. His father,

:00:09.:00:11.

also called Robert, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

:00:12.:00:15.

They were at the farm of a family friend near Dunloy when they were

:00:16.:00:19.

Our North-East reporter David Maxwell has been to the scene.

:00:20.:00:25.

Today the farm where eight-year-old Robert Christie died fell silent.

:00:26.:00:29.

The young boy came here with his dad, who was helping out

:00:30.:00:33.

Exactly what happened is unclear, but it's understood

:00:34.:00:37.

while mixing slurry, both of them were overcome by

:00:38.:00:40.

The two were discovered by a postman, who raised the alarm.

:00:41.:00:47.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene.

:00:48.:00:50.

But it was too late for the young boy, who was airlifted to hospital.

:00:51.:00:54.

This community is still coming to terms with the tragic events which

:00:55.:01:10.

unfolded on this farm this afternoon.

:01:11.:01:12.

It's yet another sobering reminder of the many hazards encountered by

:01:13.:01:15.

It is a reminder that we do not know what each day will bring in this

:01:16.:01:23.

family have been plunged into indescribable sorrow, and our

:01:24.:01:26.

thoughts and prayers are with the family, who are well known in this

:01:27.:01:32.

community, and that is another reminder to us all just how quickly

:01:33.:01:34.

and suddenly accidents can happen. The Christie family regularly

:01:35.:01:36.

attend this church. This morning,

:01:37.:01:38.

they were remembered in prayer. Along with his two sisters,

:01:39.:01:40.

Robert also went to the Sunday school at this church, just yards

:01:41.:01:43.

from the farm where he died. They are in our minds very much this

:01:44.:01:53.

morning and we are just beside where it happened, and I would just like

:01:54.:02:01.

to express our sympathy and condolences to the family, they are

:02:02.:02:03.

very much in our prayers. This afternoon,

:02:04.:02:05.

staff met at the primary school where the eight-year-old was

:02:06.:02:08.

in the P4-P5 class. The principal says everything

:02:09.:02:10.

possible will be done to help What Robert didn't know about

:02:11.:02:22.

farming wasn't worth knowing. He would frequently tell me about

:02:23.:02:24.

things he had done at the weekend or what he was going to do. His loss

:02:25.:02:32.

will have a huge impact. I would say that there is a very close family

:02:33.:02:36.

spirit and that is what we will call on.

:02:37.:02:38.

The Health and Safety Executive are investigating this incident -

:02:39.:02:41.

the latest in a long line of farming tragedies.

:02:42.:02:46.

A 38-year-old man has been charged in connection with dissident

:02:47.:02:49.

He was arrested in north Belfast on Friday and is accused

:02:50.:02:53.

of directing a terrorist organisation and membership

:02:54.:02:55.

He is due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates

:02:56.:02:59.

The DUP have criticised Sinn Fein for deciding not to appear

:03:00.:03:08.

before a parliamentary committee investigating the controversy over

:03:09.:03:10.

Sinn Fein have met with the leaders of another inquiry into the issue -

:03:11.:03:15.

the Hallett review, which was ordered by the Prime Minister.

:03:16.:03:18.

The party say they therefore see no point in attending a hearing of the

:03:19.:03:21.

But a DUP MP says Sinn Fein's decision suggests

:03:22.:03:25.

Why were they not come along with those who did the deal with them and

:03:26.:03:36.

give evidence, let the people of Northern Ireland find out exactly

:03:37.:03:40.

what happened and why this dirty deal was done?

:03:41.:03:42.

The Catholic Archbishop of Dublin has said the truth must come out

:03:43.:03:45.

about the mother-and-baby home in County Galway and homes elsewhere.

:03:46.:03:48.

Dr Diarmuid Martin was speaking on reports of a mass grave of infants

:03:49.:03:51.

and children, found in the grounds of a convent run by nuns in Tuam.

:03:52.:03:55.

No point in that it is just what happened here and then next you're

:03:56.:04:03.

finding more, we have to look at the whole culture of mother and baby

:04:04.:04:08.

homes, they are talking about medical experiments there, we have

:04:09.:04:13.

to look at adoption. They are sensitive issues but the only way we

:04:14.:04:17.

will come out of this period of our history is when the truth comes out.

:04:18.:04:19.

The Ulster Council of the GAA are investigating a mass

:04:20.:04:21.

brawl before this afternoon's senior championship match between Armagh

:04:22.:04:24.

The fighting, involving the majority of both sets of

:04:25.:04:28.

players, began as they were about to line up for the pre-match parade.

:04:29.:04:32.

Punches were thrown and members of the band providing the music

:04:33.:04:35.

In the match itself, Armagh won by one goal in 12 points to Armagh's

:04:36.:04:46.

nine points. The local boat taking part

:04:47.:04:49.

in the Clipper Round-the-World Yacht Race has left New York,

:05:05.:05:19.

forecast. We have had dramatic skies today, thunder, lightning and hail,

:05:20.:05:25.

torrential rain in places. The lively showers will continue for a

:05:26.:05:29.

while this evening, fortunately short lived in as the temperature

:05:30.:05:33.

falls they will lose their energy. It will be a mild night and there

:05:34.:05:38.

may be some mist and low cloud over the hills tomorrow, otherwise a

:05:39.:05:42.

bright start to the week, mostly dry, the showers will take a while

:05:43.:05:46.

to get going and there will be sunshine through the morning. Most

:05:47.:05:50.

showers tomorrow will be confined to the far West, drifting up from

:05:51.:05:55.

western Ireland. There will be a few showers are owned central and

:05:56.:06:01.

ordered areas of England but in the sunshine temperatures could reach 20

:06:02.:06:05.

degrees towards London. We are looking at the high teens and there

:06:06.:06:10.

is likely to be fine weather in the East with a small chance of a

:06:11.:06:13.

thunderstorm tomorrow, mainly in the West, but not as widespread as

:06:14.:06:19.

today. The thundery downpours will return tomorrow night and into

Tuesday, mostly on the warm side but there is a question over rain on

weapon state because it may take a while to come in, leaving a lot of

:06:29.:06:33.

dry weather through the day. Our next button is that 10:15pm. Until
