A 57-year-old man has appeared at Newry Magistrates Court charged with

attempted murder. It follows an incident in the early hours of

Thursday morning, when a 27-year-old man was stabbed at a house in the

city, in Carnagh Park. He received hospital treatment for injuries to

The Royal Navy's latest warship, HMS Duncan, has arrived

for her first visit to Belfast - the city she has been twinned with.

Our reporter, Martin Cassidy, was onboard as the 8000 tonne destroyer

Built in Glasgow, and costing a billion pounds, HMS Duncan is

It is one of six Type 45 destroyers now in service and

this latest addition to the fleet has been twinned with Belfast.

Powered by Rolls Royce engines, the Duncan has a battle speed

of 30 knots and carries an array of missiles and guns.

of Belfast. The Falklands War underlined the

importance of tracking incoming aircraft and Duncan is equipped with

a radar system capable the equivalent of a tennis ball over

hundreds of miles. The Duncan will also be used to locate pirates, drug

aid after natural disasters. It is an opportunity for the people

of the city of Belfast to meet their ship. The ship will be open to

visitors and there will be a demonstration to show people in the

city what their ship can do. Tickets for tours of

the ship have all been snapped up. But the Duncan sails again

on Tuesday morning around 11AM and will cut a distinctive figure

as she glides out of Belfast Lough. It is day three of the

Commonwealth Games and for the latest we can join Stephen

will be. It will be a cold day tomorrow than today. Highs at 15-16

Celsius. Not the best weekend. The low pressure will bring rain and

wind to Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Northern England. In the

afternoon, gradually the rain will disappear and overnight it will be

mild. On Monday, it is going to be a better day. A wet weekend, but OK
