A 44-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder

following an attack on a woman in Belleeks in County Armagh.

The 33-year-old woman was assaulted in a house on Newry

The man has also been charged with a number of other offences, including

assault, threats to kill, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Another man, who is 43, has been charged with aiding

Four people required hospital treatment after a police car

was involved in a collision with another vehicle near Coleraine.

It emerged today that three of those hurt during yesterday's

BBC Newsline's Mark Simpson has been to the scene.

The emergency services were on the scene quickly. The coalition

happened on the outside of Coleraine, not far from the Causeway

Hospital. The injuries were taken to the hospital. -- the injured people.

In total, three people were hurt. An investigation is under way. The

police have not given many details. They said there was a collision

between a car and a police car. They say that four people were taken to

hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening. The rod was

relatively busy when the accident happened. -- the road. Local people

say that the weather conditions were better yesterday than they are today

and there was a lot of traffic on the road. It is understood that the

three injured police officers and the female driver have all been

discharged from hospital. A 33-year-old man has been charged

in connection with a hijacking It happened in New Barnsley Park

on Friday night, when a woman was forced out of her

car by a man armed with a knife. He damaged the front of

the vehicle before driving it away. It was found abandoned in

La Salle Drive. The man,

who was detained in the south of the city last night, has been

charged with a number of offences. He is due to appear before

Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow. It is Day 4 of the Commonwealth

Games and the good news is that Team Northern Ireland has secured

at least a silver in the bowls. For the latest,

judo last week, the bowlers have won at least a silver medal. They will

have an attempt at the goal tomorrow. They got into tomorrow's

the track, our runner failed to qualify in the heats. In the same

event, there was also disappointment after a false start disqualified one

of the runners. But our female runner qualified for the semifinals

of the 100 metres. In the pool, two swimmers are into the semifinals.

One of our cyclists will go for gold tonight. He won the World

Championship last year and he qualified for the final of the

scratch race. Northern Ireland may have a third medal. Catherine

Well, the rain was back today but hopefully it is to dry up this week.

The showers are going to continue across Northern Ireland overnight.

By dawn tomorrow morning, most of the showers will have gone. It will

be a mild night. Temperatures, 14-15 Celsius. Next week it will be

better. There will still be some showers but also more bright spells
