20 Romanians suspected of being victims of . human trafficking have

Three men are being questioned following the operation,

which has been going on for several days in counties Armagh and Antrim.

investigation into the food production industry. However at this

stage there is no suggestion that any employers here are complicit in

any of the suspected criminal activity.

freedom once she gets pregnant. On the other hand the prolife

campaigners and the Catholic bishops say they are delighted the mother

A war memorial in Glenavy in County Antrim has been daubed with

A US company is creating almost 100 new jobs in Belfast,

with the major expansion of a local business it bought a year ago.

Proofpoint specialises in security for company computer systems.

The new jobs will pay wages above the Northern Ireland average.

will expand significantly with the addition of 94 jobs T works in

computer technology, providing data storage and security for a long list

of client companies. -- it works. Proofpoint is a company listed on

the US Stock Exchange with its headquarters in California.

It has had a presence here in Belfast for just over a year, when

it acquired a locally-owned tech company. The new jobs will be

created over a period of two years as part of its growth, offices are

switching from the science park in East Belfast, here at Weavers Court

close to the city centre. The company attended the International

Investment Conference last October. By then it had started a local firm

specialising in e-mail skumplt the next step was getting it to increase

its workforce. It was relatively from one point of view in that they

had acquired a company and had knowledge of what was available in

Northern Ireland but it was relatively difficult to get them to

commit to over 100 people being involved in Northern Ireland. IT is

a specialist field and the new recruits expect a pay packet way

above the local average Our average salary here is roughly ?30,000. We

are looking for folks with technical talents degrees and experience. We

are confident we can find the talent here and are excited about the

growth here. This is an expansion project worth ?6 million. One-tenth

of it is being funded by Invest NI, who hope the enlarged presence of

Proofpoint, could help attract more of this kind of inward investment
