That's it. We're back with the late news at 10pm. | :00:00. | :00:00.
Police have raided a suspected fuel laundering plant in County Tyrone in | :00:00. | :00:09.
connection with the investigation into the death of a man | :00:10. | :00:12.
in a shipping container at Tilbury docks in England last month. | :00:13. | :00:15.
Our reporter Chris Page has been following the latest developments. | :00:16. | :00:17.
Well, just to explain the background to this story, we need to go back | :00:18. | :00:32.
three weeks to the 16th of August where a man from Afghanistan was | :00:33. | :00:37.
found dead inside a shipping container at Tilbury docks in Essex. | :00:38. | :00:42.
34 other Afghan migrants were in the container as well and they all | :00:43. | :00:48.
survived. Subsequent to that two men from County Londonderry were charged | :00:49. | :00:51.
with immigration offences and yesterday at Liverpool docks third | :00:52. | :00:55.
man from Northern Ireland was arrested and he is 37 and from | :00:56. | :01:00.
Dungannon. During the third arrest the detectives raided a suspected | :01:01. | :01:05.
fuel laundering plant which they think was capable of producing 1000 | :01:06. | :01:10.
litres of illegal fuel every year. The man under arrest is being | :01:11. | :01:13.
questioned on suspicion of manslaughter and has been | :01:14. | :01:14.
transferred to Essex Police. The authorities have been urged to | :01:15. | :01:16.
investigate claims that girls were abused by members of the security | :01:17. | :01:19.
forces while in the care of Some women have approached the | :01:20. | :01:23.
East Belfast Alliance MP Naomi Long, who's been calling | :01:24. | :01:27.
for the Kincora abuse scandal to be included in a Westminster historic | :01:28. | :01:36.
child abuse inquiry. Ms Long says | :01:37. | :01:38.
the latest allegations concern girls A number of people have since | :01:39. | :01:49.
approached me, particularly a group of women who claimed they were | :01:50. | :01:53.
abused when they were in care and, more than that, when they are | :01:54. | :01:56.
squandered from care they were abused by members of the security | :01:57. | :02:00.
forces and by the police who were really charged with returning them | :02:01. | :02:05.
to care but instead took advantage of the situation. What it says is | :02:06. | :02:09.
that there are serious issues in terms of child protection that were | :02:10. | :02:10.
breached at that point in time that really need to be looked at in a | :02:11. | :02:16.
more in-depth way than has been the case to date. A woman has been | :02:17. | :02:21.
assaulted after three masked men called to a house in Belfast last | :02:22. | :02:25.
night. Police say a scuffle took place and the woman suffered a wound | :02:26. | :02:26.
to her head. The Northern Ireland International | :02:27. | :02:28.
Air Show is underway in Portrush. The viewing point has changed this | :02:29. | :02:31.
year and, As the sun began to appear so did | :02:32. | :02:32.
out, the event is continuing to draw As the sun began to appear so did | :02:33. | :02:50.
the crowds. A lot of families came. Thousands of locals and tourists | :02:51. | :02:54.
streaming onto the beach and they did not have to wait long before the | :02:55. | :03:01.
action. Most were happy with the views of the spectacle but others | :03:02. | :03:05.
were looking for more, seeking an even closer view, the closer the | :03:06. | :03:10.
better. All the happier for it. It is brilliant, the best ever, it | :03:11. | :03:14.
really is, it is fantastic. Fantastic. Every year it rains so | :03:15. | :03:21.
this makes a change. To have such a big crowd is great. This year the | :03:22. | :03:29.
show has a new location here. Some things remain the same. The aircraft | :03:30. | :03:32.
on display, and tomorrow things remain the same. The aircraft | :03:33. | :03:36.
highlight when the Red Arrows arrived here. The pilots are ready | :03:37. | :03:40.
to entertain and the crowds are ready to capture the moment. I think | :03:41. | :03:45.
it will be quite a dramatic display tomorrow with the background setting | :03:46. | :03:49.
like that and the crowd will get some fantastic photographs as long | :03:50. | :03:54.
as the weather holds out. Whatever the weather tomorrow, when the Red | :03:55. | :03:56.
Arrows arrive they will have two match these performances. | :03:57. | :04:05.
In just a few hours time 16,000 people will pack the temporary venue | :04:06. | :04:11.
at Titanic Belfast for a world title fight. All eyes will be on the | :04:12. | :04:17.
Belfast boxer as he challenges for the title. The last time these met, | :04:18. | :04:22.
Belfast boxer as he challenges for Frampton stopped Martinez in the | :04:23. | :04:30.
19th round. Another former Belfast champion believes Frampton will do | :04:31. | :04:36.
it. I think tonight the Spanish are coming in as world champions and | :04:37. | :04:40.
then they are going home without their world title belt, that is what | :04:41. | :04:45.
I predict. Whether it is a knockout or what, it doesn't matter how it | :04:46. | :04:49.
comes, Frampton has his number, he is too good, he hits too hard and he | :04:50. | :04:55.
is too strong and too hungry. In the Rugby Ulster scored a try in | :04:56. | :05:00.
the last two minutes of their opening match to salvage the game | :05:01. | :05:08.
the last two minutes of their scored two tries. Ulster earned a | :05:09. | :05:18.
bonus point draw. And now here's Cecilia Daly with | :05:19. | :05:23.
the weather forecast for the rest Good evening. More dry and bright | :05:24. | :05:32.
weather to come this weekend but it will not be that warm. Tonight it | :05:33. | :05:37.
will be quite chilly. Mostly dry with clear spells. Cool bear that in | :05:38. | :05:42.
mind if you are heading for the big fight. Temperatures in the | :05:43. | :05:51.
countryside. There could be mysterious first thing and for the | :05:52. | :05:57.
International airshow conditions should be quite go. Cloud will be | :05:58. | :06:05.
dragged in and a few showers but otherwise a Sunday should be dry | :06:06. | :06:08.
with a great start. Perfect conditions for the triathlon which | :06:09. | :06:12.
is taking place in Belfast tomorrow. Across most of Britain and Ireland | :06:13. | :06:17.
it is a fine day with clouds and sunshine. Cloudy skies in the south | :06:18. | :06:20.
of England with spots of rain will move away but most of the weather is | :06:21. | :06:25.
over Scotland where there will be low pressure and wet and windy | :06:26. | :06:28.
conditions. It will not be the warmest of days. The further south | :06:29. | :06:35.
you are the warm it will be. Pretty good running weather for the ten K | :06:36. | :06:40.
that starts tomorrow afternoon. After a reasonable Sunday looks like | :06:41. | :06:44.
high pressure will continue into the new week which means more settled | :06:45. | :06:48.
weather to come probably most of the second week of September. Initially | :06:49. | :06:52.
on Monday and Tuesday it will dry but quite cloudy and from Wednesday | :06:53. | :06:57.
onwards we will have higher temperatures and more sunshine. | :06:58. | :06:59.
And that's it from us until 6.50pm tomorrow. | :07:00. | :07:04. |
