The funeral has taken place in Coleraine of one of the two men

:00:00.:00:09.

from Northern Ireland who were killed in a building site accident

:00:10.:00:13.

A priest described the tragedy as one single moment that had

:00:14.:00:19.

turned the lives of the family of Gerard Bradley upside down.

:00:20.:00:21.

On a gloomy wet December day, the funeral cortege of 29-year-old

:00:22.:00:29.

Gerard Bradley arrived at St Malachy's Catholic church

:00:30.:00:34.

In stark contrast to the scene of the construction site accident

:00:35.:00:40.

in Perth in western Australia that caused his death ten days ago.

:00:41.:00:45.

Gerard Bradley died along with his workmate Joe McDermott from Omagh

:00:46.:00:48.

when they were crushed by a large concrete slab on the building site.

:00:49.:00:56.

This afternoon hundreds of people gathered to pay

:00:57.:00:58.

their respects as the Bradley family accompanied the coffin into

:00:59.:01:01.

St Malachy's for what was described as a celebration and thanksgiving

:01:02.:01:04.

During the funeral service the parish priest reflected on that

:01:05.:01:11.

moment ten days ago that changed the lives of the Bradley family forever.

:01:12.:01:19.

In a single moment last week their lives were turned upside down when

:01:20.:01:25.

the news came that Jarrett had died so suddenly and tragically. In a

:01:26.:01:29.

single moment they found themselves caught up in the middle of the

:01:30.:01:32.

situation you would not wish on anyone.

:01:33.:01:34.

After requiem mass Gerard Bradley was burined in a nearby cemtery.

:01:35.:01:40.

A number of roads have been closed across counties Fermanagh,

:01:41.:01:42.

Tyrone and Londonderry due to flooding as Storm Desmond sweeps

:01:43.:01:46.

Parts of the west coast have been the worst affected.

:01:47.:01:51.

The centre of Larne got a blast of Storm Desmond last night -

:01:52.:02:00.

Dunluce Street and Lower Cross Street closed after high

:02:01.:02:02.

In the Creggan area of Derry, the sandbags are ready as residents

:02:03.:02:06.

All night it rained - and with sodden ground the water has

:02:07.:02:16.

And further south - Storm Desmond battered the west coast

:02:17.:02:20.

County Donegal - and areas of Letterkenney were left

:02:21.:02:29.

Further south again and in the town of Kenmare in County Kerry

:02:30.:02:34.

the water is still rising. Although another 50mm of rain is expected

:02:35.:02:38.

overnight - people up and down the west coast are hoping the

:02:39.:02:41.

The railway station in Londonderry has been evacuated due to

:02:42.:02:46.

It follows reports that suspicious objects were left there and also

:02:47.:02:52.

in the nearby Quarry Steps area of Spencer Road.

:02:53.:02:55.

Trains have been cancelled and bus substitution services put in place.

:02:56.:03:02.

Meanwhile, the annual Apprentice Boys of Derry parade took place in

:03:03.:03:05.

the city and passed off without incident. Here's our North-West

:03:06.:03:07.

Despite heavy rain and driving wind mini visiting Apprentice Boys made

:03:08.:03:23.

the trip to the city today for the annual rate. Conditions were the

:03:24.:03:26.

worst they've been in recent years but it did not deter the marchers

:03:27.:03:31.

taking part. It was estimated at around 1500 members of the loyal

:03:32.:03:37.

order accompanied by 30 vans converged on the city for the

:03:38.:03:41.

demonstration. You can see the conditions are adverse but the

:03:42.:03:46.

turnout of the visiting clubs, they are totally committed. This is the

:03:47.:03:51.

most important date in the calendar this association. The marchers made

:03:52.:03:56.

away in and around the city centre before a religious service. Today

:03:57.:04:02.

has been successful for parading in Londonderry. Derry City has worked

:04:03.:04:07.

hard to make sure parading is a success and I pay tribute to those

:04:08.:04:11.

behind the scenes who worked hard, affinity groups, Apprentice Boys and

:04:12.:04:18.

traders and city centre managers. In keeping with tradition after the

:04:19.:04:23.

main parade an effigy of the traitor Lundy was burned in Bishop Street.

:04:24.:04:26.

Now with full details of our weather for the rest of the weekend, here's

:04:27.:04:29.

Storm Desmond has been having an impact. Debris on roads, flooding in

:04:30.:04:44.

places and power outages across parts of the Republic. Here in

:04:45.:04:50.

Northern Ireland there is a warning remaining in place throughout the

:04:51.:04:52.

night of the risk of further disruption. The rain could be the

:04:53.:04:56.

main concern, very wet through this evening with heavy and persistent

:04:57.:05:00.

arrests of rain especially in the West. And of course we have those

:05:01.:05:05.

gusty winds as well, up to 60 miles an hour. They tend to ease through

:05:06.:05:09.

the night as the rain moves away. But still blustery and showers

:05:10.:05:14.

coming through, some wintry on the hilltops. Into tomorrow it is a

:05:15.:05:24.

brighter and drier day. Still quite gusty and places to begin with with

:05:25.:05:28.

showers running through for a time. But at least we have some sunshine.

:05:29.:05:33.

Dry weather and sunshine across the Republic, Wales, central and

:05:34.:05:37.

northern England. Still wet and windy in the far south and

:05:38.:05:42.

south-east but also miles. Elsewhere temperatures starting to come down.

:05:43.:05:45.

Windy in the North of Scotland with gales or severe gales. Showers

:05:46.:05:51.

across the mountains likely to turn to sleet and snow. Well in Northern

:05:52.:05:55.

Ireland in the afternoon it is dry and temperatures are down at around

:05:56.:06:01.

seven or eight degrees, but feeling more pleasant than today. But make

:06:02.:06:06.

the most of that because another no moves in for Monday and yet more

:06:07.:06:10.

following through the middle part of the week. And if I survived pectin,

:06:11.:06:15.

indicating yet more blustery wind. Rain at times with bright spells and

:06:16.:06:17.

showers in between. That's it from us until ten

:06:18.:06:19.

past six tomorrow evening. You can keep up to date with local

:06:20.:06:22.

news on Radio Ulster or From everyone here on the programme,

:06:23.:06:25.

enjoy the rest of your evening.
