A man has died in a house fire in County Down.

The blaze was discovered at Cathedral View in Downpatrick

It's understood the man who died was in his 50s and was married.

Politicians say the local community is in shock at the death.

people of Downpatrick and the wider constituency to the gentleman's

family at this sad and tragic time for them.

Several thousand homes and businesses

temporarily lost power last night

due to a fault at a power station in west Belfast.

There were reports of bright lights across the city's sky

at around 1115. There were emergency engineers on-site to check out from

a safety perspective. Equipment failures at a substation could cause

a bang and a flash, which we believe is what people saw last night. There

was nothing sinister involved. It was a piece of equipment which

failed in one of her substations and that would have caused a flash and

could also have caused the dip in power that we have seen. Although

the fold originated in West Belfast, it was heard on the motocross the

city, sparking questions in homes and social area about what caused

it. I was in the house and just heard enough of buying and thought

it was like an explosion! Did you see any lights? I saw blue flashing

lights. I didn't know what to expect, if it was police or

ambulance coming, but it stay that long and was flashing that fast. I

heard a bang and a flash and my bedroom underwent white and blue and

different colours. What you do think it was? A meteor! I was watching

television, it just dipped off, the lights dimmed. And it went off and

within seconds, they came back on again. Investigations will continue

over the coming days to find out what exactly caused the equipment

fault. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested

at Windsor Park in south Belfast on suspicion of possession

of a firework or flare. The stadium was hosting

the Irish Cup semi-final earlier, between home side Linfield

and Lurgan Celtic. A 25-year-old man from Strabane,

who was being questioned by police about violent dissident

republican activity, He was arrested in

the town yesterday. A 38-year-old man's being

questioned by the police following the discovery of a large

amount of a material used for mixing

with illegal drugs. It was intercepted en route

to an address in Ballymena in a joint operation

with the National Crime Agency. during a search of

a house in the town. It's understood that

Belfast City Airport could be sold. It may change ownership as part

of a wider deal being negotiated by the international investment fund

which currently owns it. It's believed Eyeser Global

Infrastructure Fund is on the verge of agreeing

a ?500 million pound deal with another investment

fund over the next few weeks. Sport, and Welshman Chaz Davies has

ended Jonathan Rea's run of wins won the opening three races

in Australia and Thailand. But Davies won today's

race in Spain, holding the Northern Ireland

rider to second place. Rea's series lead has now extended

from 29 to 33 points. Football, and Irish Premiership

title contenders Linfield beat Lurgan Celtic

in today's Irish Cup semi-final. A second-half hat-trick

from Aaron Burns, including this

forecast now for the rest of the weekend,

and here's Angie. Good evening. After a dry start to

the weekend, things have been deteriorating throughout the day

with spells of rain moving from the sites. That is setting us up for

quite a wait evening. Fairly persistent, locally heavy, bursts of

rain. It will dry up a bed across eastern counties during the course

of the night. Further west, likely to stay quite wet. At least it is a

frost-free night, with temperatures no lower than 5 degrees. Enter

tomorrow, not a great day. Cloudy with spells of rain, edging their

way back north eastwards through the morning. Once again, a few

persistent bursts of rain and it is also quite wet across the Republic

of Ireland, much of Scotland. Quite damp at times across the South West

of England and Wales, up into the north-west of England. Dry, bright,

spells of sunshine, pretty warm, temperatures up to possibly 18

degrees. Closer to home, temperatures beneath the cloud and

rain are closer to average for a time of year to stop still some

showering when around in the afternoon but it will be becoming

more patchy. The odd bright interval but more cloud than sunshine and

quite a damp day overall. Temperatures are little bit better,

up into double figures. The area of low pressure which is bringing the

rain swings away and then we are into a showery regime for Monday and

Tuesday. On Tuesday night, a weather front moves to. In behind that, the

isobars tighten, stronger winds and colder. Plenty of showers on

Wednesday, some hailstones and possibly one tree on the hills.
