An Easter Rising parade in Belfast Channel and on BBC

and two loyalist protests in opposition to it, have passed off

There was a heavy police presence as the parade passed by.

Side roads were blocked off and hundreds of police officers were on

duty at flash points as the Republican march made its way to

join the main parade in the city centre. There were concerns about

marches and protesters clashing. Although the official commemoration

was held weeks ago, today is the actual anniversary of the beginning

of the rising. 500 Republicans with one band made their way of to the

city centre. More than 100 loyalists joined to protest groups along the

route. There were strict rules on the playing of music on the

contentious parts of the parade route and an attempt by the band in

the Republican march to start drumming was quickly stopped by

Stuarts. This church usually has a service at that time on a Sunday but

a notice on its website said it was cancelled because of the parades in

the city. After the march past, the loyalist group dispersed quickly and

the Republican parade continued to join up with another group in the

It is not as cold as it has been because we have clouds rolling in

and we have patchy rain through the night. Temperatures will settle at

six Celsius. We have no frost to worry about tomorrow morning. From

tomorrow it is going to feel much colder and it will be unsettled

because we have a change in air mass. We will begin to drag in some

arctic air making it feel bitterly cold out there, especially in

exposed areas around the coast. Temperatures around 10 Celsius on

your thermometers but it will feel colder than that. Those scattered

showers will continue along with those north-westerly winds. The wind

helps to break up the cloud allowing for some sunshine to develop. It

will feel cold wherever you are across Britain and Ireland. On the

unsettled side. Some sleet and snow across northern areas of England and

maybe some wintry showers for Scotland. The middle of the

afternoon across Ireland, plenty of good weather to enjoy but the odd

shower cannot be ruled out. Those northerly winds making it feel quite

cool. Temperatures not too bad for the time of year but with the

wind-chill factor, feeling colder. There will be a chilly night

tomorrow as we go into Tuesday. Tuesday at self, the temperatures

will begin to struggle. At best we are looking at at -- we are looking

at seven Celsius. It will feel much colder than that there is the risk

that we could see the odd scattered shower. It is not all bad news. As

we make our way through the rest of the week, it will stay chilly with

temperatures struggling to get anywhere close to 10 degrees. At

times there will be outbreaks of rain but looking ahead to the

weekend, those bitterly cold northerly winds are set to give way

to milder air helping to raise temperatures back closer to normal
