An armour piercing rocket and anti-personnel mines

:00:00.:00:11.

were in a terrorist cache discovered in a wood near Larne at the weekend.

:00:12.:00:16.

The police say the haul in Capanagh Forest was found

:00:17.:00:19.

by walkers and that dissident republicans were behind it.

:00:20.:00:24.

Another terrorist hide was found near Larne a few months ago.

:00:25.:00:27.

Our North-East reporter Sara Girvin has more.

:00:28.:00:32.

In Capanagh Forest, a dense wood in the hills above Larne was hiding

:00:33.:00:35.

what police are describing as one of the most significant terrorist

:00:36.:00:37.

Today, they released pictures of what had been found.

:00:38.:00:44.

In three barrels buried in the ground were an

:00:45.:00:46.

armour-piercing improvised rocket and two anti-personnel mines,

:00:47.:00:50.

along with pipe bombs, parts for other explosives,

:00:51.:00:54.

as well as ammunition for an assault rifle.

:00:55.:00:57.

The police say a number of the devices were

:00:58.:01:00.

It's the second such discovery in the area in as many months.

:01:01.:01:04.

Detectives are working to establish whether this terrorist hide

:01:05.:01:08.

is linked to another, discovered just 6 miles from here,

:01:09.:01:12.

at Carnfunnock Country Park in March.

:01:13.:01:15.

Police also put that haul on display, which they said belonged

:01:16.:01:22.

It included components used to make under-car boobie trap bombs.

:01:23.:01:28.

Earlier our Home Affairs Correspondent told me how

:01:29.:01:30.

the arms haul pointed towards dissident republicans.

:01:31.:01:37.

We have received some more detail about the level of what was in this,

:01:38.:01:46.

the sheer scale of it. In addition to the armour-piercing rocket which

:01:47.:01:49.

is of concern for obvious reasons. The police are worried about the

:01:50.:01:53.

scale of it. I'm told that the component parts like timer switches,

:01:54.:01:57.

cables and command wires, there were enough of those to make dozens of

:01:58.:02:01.

bombs and that has surprised the police. They are worried about the

:02:02.:02:06.

discovery of two mines. These are mines which could have been used

:02:07.:02:10.

against people or vehicles. I'm told the mines were not home-made, they

:02:11.:02:14.

were of military grade and that is causing a great deal of concern. The

:02:15.:02:18.

police were concerned and alarmed by the location of the find by the

:02:19.:02:22.

quantity of the find and by the quality of what they found.

:02:23.:02:29.

A 32-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder

:02:30.:02:31.

of Daniel Murray in Belfast has been released unconditionally.

:02:32.:02:33.

The 55-year-old victim was lured to his death and shot on Lady Street

:02:34.:02:36.

Two men have been arrested by detectives investigating

:02:37.:02:44.

the murder of a man at a boxing weigh-in in Dublin.

:02:45.:02:46.

David Byrne was fatally wounded when gunmen opened fire inside

:02:47.:02:49.

The death has led to several other killings

:02:50.:02:52.

A third man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the hotel gun

:02:53.:02:57.

The Alliance Party has submitted a document to the DUP and Sinn Fein

:02:58.:03:07.

with a series of demands that will determine if it takes up

:03:08.:03:14.

It would not clarify the exact demands but said the main areas

:03:15.:03:18.

of concern were set out in its election manifesto,

:03:19.:03:20.

calls for and ending of all forms of paramilitarism and building

:03:21.:03:24.

The Alliance Leader David Ford says it shouldn't be taken for granted

:03:25.:03:29.

that the party will take the Justice department again.

:03:30.:03:36.

What we will be putting forward will require specific targets to be

:03:37.:03:43.

reached, commitments to be made and delivery by certain dates. And

:03:44.:03:47.

certainly, if that delivery is not made, then that, you know, an

:03:48.:03:52.

alliance minister will not remain in post.

:03:53.:03:55.

Aer Lingus is closing the majority of its 86 posts

:03:56.:03:57.

Most employees will be offered redeployment to Dublin.

:03:58.:04:00.

20 cabin staff are remaining in Belfast following a review

:04:01.:04:03.

Aer Lingus said the staffing changes are being made for efficiency

:04:04.:04:08.

reasons with no impact on its flights from Belfast.

:04:09.:04:15.

There have been calls for the Ulster Unionist leader

:04:16.:04:17.

to apologise for posting a message on social media which quoted

:04:18.:04:20.

the Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels.

:04:21.:04:22.

Mike Nesbitt was responding to allegations that he had sought

:04:23.:04:25.

public money to build a mosque in Belfast.

:04:26.:04:27.

Our Political Correspondent Enda McClafferty reports.

:04:28.:04:33.

Mike Nesbitt found himself in the middle of a protest today

:04:34.:04:36.

He joined students at Queen's this morning as they protested against

:04:37.:04:41.

But he was also at centre of an online protest

:04:42.:04:46.

because of what he posted on Twitter last night.

:04:47.:04:50.

He was hitting back at those who accused him of wanting to use

:04:51.:04:53.

public funds to build a new mosque in Belfast.

:04:54.:04:55.

But he went a step further and used a quote from the Nazi Propaganda

:04:56.:05:01.

Minister Joseph Goobbels to make his point.

:05:02.:05:04.

And that provoked an angry reaction from some of his online followers.

:05:05.:05:09.

Some even compared the post to comments made recently

:05:10.:05:12.

by Boris Johnson when he linked the aims of the EU

:05:13.:05:14.

The Alliance Party said Mike Nesbitt should have thought more carefully

:05:15.:05:20.

For me, I consider this to be an ill judged use and particularly

:05:21.:05:26.

the attachment of a photograph as well means that there was some

:05:27.:05:30.

I think he should apologise, and there is a range of people

:05:31.:05:35.

who he needs to apologise to, in relation to the raising

:05:36.:05:38.

of the spectre of the Nazis and Goebbels.

:05:39.:05:44.

But there was no sign of an apology from the Ulster

:05:45.:05:46.

In fact, he wasn't up for talking about his tweet.

:05:47.:05:52.

The point I was making is that on social media it is very

:05:53.:05:55.

easy to spin a lie, the way the Nazis did.

:05:56.:05:58.

Unlike other political leaders who have found themselves

:05:59.:06:09.

at the centre of a Twitter storm, Mike Nesbit hasn't taken down

:06:10.:06:11.

the offending tweet and it remains to be seen if there will

:06:12.:06:14.

But what he may have done is make other politicians out

:06:15.:06:18.

A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with the discovery

:06:19.:06:29.

of around ?75,000 worth of illegal drugs in a house on Belmont

:06:30.:06:32.

A 21-year-old man has been released on bail.

:06:33.:06:40.

14 of our busiest libraries are facing cuts to their opening

:06:41.:06:43.

While the plan is being put out for public consultation,

:06:44.:06:47.

our Education Correspondent Robbie Meredith looks at the

:06:48.:06:49.

Is a chapter closing for some of our libraries?

:06:50.:06:53.

Libraries NI plan to cut the opening hours at 14 libraries in all.

:06:54.:06:57.

Belfast Central, Bangor Carnegie, Derry Central, Lisburn City

:06:58.:07:00.

and Omagh libraries will open for the equivalent of

:07:01.:07:04.

Nine other libraries will open for five fewer hours a week.

:07:05.:07:10.

We have ?2.173 million less now than we had this time last year.

:07:11.:07:13.

So we're having to take a range of measures.

:07:14.:07:18.

We've cut our stock budget, we're cutting our maintenance

:07:19.:07:21.

We're cutting a whole range of administration,

:07:22.:07:31.

miscellaneous budgets and unfortunately we're having

:07:32.:07:32.

to cut the opening hours of our largest libraries.

:07:33.:07:35.

It is popular, and plans to reduce its opening hours aren't.

:07:36.:07:40.

You can't do everything online and it is good.

:07:41.:07:42.

I just sometimes come and take out a book or come and sit and revise

:07:43.:07:53.

You see a lot of the older generation coming

:07:54.:07:56.

It is a brilliant outlet to come here and socialise, have a cup

:07:57.:08:00.

of coffee and then use the internet when they can.

:08:01.:08:03.

Meanwhile, Belfast Central Library has stood on the city's Royal Avenue

:08:04.:08:06.

But that history won't save it from cuts.

:08:07.:08:08.

I would be devastated if it is going to close.

:08:09.:08:11.

I don't have to think about it and it is a real lifeline for me

:08:12.:08:14.

because I don't have a computer at home.

:08:15.:08:16.

It means I can come in and use it whenever I want.

:08:17.:08:19.

Libraries like this have had to change what they do in recent

:08:20.:08:22.

decades, but the number of people using them here has actually risen.

:08:23.:08:25.

Despite that increase though, for some of them, time

:08:26.:08:27.

After a search lasting almost 30 years a woman in Ballinamallard has

:08:28.:08:34.

Lesley Fagan's sister had been given up for adoption in England.

:08:35.:08:43.

The pair have been talking to our South West reporter Julian

:08:44.:08:49.

A nervous wait and then a tearful reunion.

:08:50.:08:59.

The moment when the long search for her sister came to an end.

:09:00.:09:04.

Their mother was Hilda Williamson who came from a strict

:09:05.:09:06.

She hid her pregnancy from her father.

:09:07.:09:13.

She bound herself up tight and booked herself

:09:14.:09:25.

into a Catholic maternity home in Prestwich in Manchester.

:09:26.:09:32.

I said to my mum, "Do you ever think about her?"

:09:33.:09:36.

She spent six weeks with her daughter before she signed

:09:37.:09:50.

the adoption papers, but crucially had seen the name

:09:51.:09:53.

and address of the new parents, names she never forgot, and,

:09:54.:09:56.

years later, she told Leslie, who promised she would

:09:57.:09:58.

Joan had moved with her new family to Australia.

:09:59.:10:04.

My mum, although she never told me, all my life,

:10:05.:10:09.

I would ask her where I came from and things like that,

:10:10.:10:19.

when I was born, and how come when she lost so many

:10:20.:10:22.

She would say to me, "Because you are chosen to survive."

:10:23.:10:30.

You were chosen. So I was their chosen child.

:10:31.:10:34.

When I was little, it did not strike me as anything,

:10:35.:10:37.

When she moved to Ballinamallard last year, Leslie put

:10:38.:10:41.

With the help of two genealogists, within a week,

:10:42.:10:46.

After 60 years apart, two sisters were brought

:10:47.:10:50.

We were just waiting so long for this bonding hug.

:10:51.:11:01.

I think the hug lasted more about two minutes, three minutes.

:11:02.:11:07.

We just stared into each others eyes and it is like just reading minds

:11:08.:11:10.

Celtic Football club which is looking to appoint

:11:11.:11:29.

a new manager has been in talks with Brendan Rodgers.

:11:30.:11:33.

The Carnlough man has been out of work since October of last year

:11:34.:11:36.

when he was replaced as Liverpool boss.

:11:37.:11:38.

Celtic has yet to make any official comment.

:11:39.:11:41.

On BBC Newsline tomorrow evening we have the second part

:11:42.:11:44.

in our series of reports on Muslims in Northern Ireland.

:11:45.:11:47.

While there is an ancient sectarian divide between Sunni

:11:48.:11:49.

and Shia communities, we see how they share

:11:50.:11:51.

That's tomorrow on BBC Newsline at 6.30pm.

:11:52.:11:56.

The weather forecast is next Cecilia Daly.

:11:57.:12:01.

Hello. Good evening a bit of rain fell on our gardens today and there

:12:02.:12:07.

will be some more rain at times over the next few days, but a lot of

:12:08.:12:11.

places will become dry tonight. Just the odd shower in the west. Despite

:12:12.:12:15.

clearing skies, it won't be a cold night. Quite mild compared to recent

:12:16.:12:19.

nights. There maybe some mist and low cloud around for a short time

:12:20.:12:23.

tomorrow, but otherwise, we should see some decent weather. Probably

:12:24.:12:27.

the best day of the next few. So some sunshine developing tomorrow

:12:28.:12:30.

morning. One or two showers mainly up towards the north coast, but a

:12:31.:12:34.

lot of places will be dry and it looks like a lot of fine weather for

:12:35.:12:37.

the Republic of Ireland too. There is the rain though. It is stuck. It

:12:38.:12:41.

is slow moving across Scotland and many parts of England and there will

:12:42.:12:51.

be heavy bursts mixed up as well. So Northern Ireland enjoying some of

:12:52.:12:54.

the best weather across the UK and Ireland tomorrow. Cooler and fresher

:12:55.:12:58.

towards the north coast with the breeze coming in off the sea, but

:12:59.:13:02.

temperatures in Belfast and County Down reaching 16 Celsius. Tomorrow

:13:03.:13:07.

is looking the best of the next few. Thursday onwards unsettled at times

:13:08.:13:10.

with low pressure bringing further spells of rain and strong winds.

:13:11.:13:13.

This is Thursday's chart. We have an area of low pressure. A lot of

:13:14.:13:16.

weather fronts as well and it looks like there will be rain

:13:17.:13:20.

unfortunately for the start of the Irish Open. Some rain spilling

:13:21.:13:23.

across Northern Ireland. Some of it really quite heavy. Some blustery

:13:24.:13:27.

winds, but it should ease off later in the day. More rain and strong

:13:28.:13:28.

winds to come on Saturday.

:13:29.:13:31.
