Five deaths in two days as another road tragedy in Donegal | :00:13. | :00:18.
There's condemnation of dissident republicans after they issue threats | :00:19. | :00:24.
to organisers of community events in West Belfast. | :00:25. | :00:29.
Ten years after the murder of Denis Donaldson, a man is charged | :00:30. | :00:32.
Why do people here have so little money to spend compared | :00:33. | :00:40.
How do you entertain children during wet days over the summer? I have | :00:41. | :00:55.
been trying to find out! Help! The countdown is on a new York ahead of | :00:56. | :00:59.
the biggest fight in the career of Carl Frampton, going up against Leo | :01:00. | :01:02.
Santa Cruz. And after that lovely summer's day | :01:03. | :01:05.
today, the outlook is much drier. I'll be back later | :01:06. | :01:08.
in the programme. Five young people have died in car | :01:09. | :01:15.
crashes in the space of 24 hours In the latest head-on collision | :01:16. | :01:20.
overnight two men and a woman In the same area yesterday two men | :01:21. | :01:26.
were killed when their car collided Here's our North West | :01:27. | :01:31.
reporter, Keiron Tourish. This head-on collision happened | :01:32. | :01:35.
on a rural country road near the village of Drumkeen around | :01:36. | :01:38.
four miles outside Letterkenny Two cars were involved - | :01:39. | :01:41.
a red Toyota Carina Three young people died - | :01:42. | :01:48.
a girl who was 19 and two men. One was 18 while the other | :01:49. | :01:55.
was in his 20s. I would appeal to the young people | :01:56. | :02:06.
in this county FA know why these vehicles were on the road at night, | :02:07. | :02:10.
we think they knew each other and we cannot understand how they collided | :02:11. | :02:15.
and we believe there was a lot of speed involved. Again, the appeal is | :02:16. | :02:22.
mostly for the families and for the parents who have been contacting us | :02:23. | :02:25.
all morning about young ones who have not come home last night and we | :02:26. | :02:30.
have some people in the station and we are telling them that their | :02:31. | :02:34.
children have died. We need that information so we can tell the | :02:35. | :02:37.
mothers and fathers while their children died. | :02:38. | :02:38.
Yesterday, two young men died when their car was involved | :02:39. | :02:41.
in a head-on collision with a van at 4.45am in the morning | :02:42. | :02:44.
They were named locally as 28-year-old Barney McGinley | :02:45. | :02:47.
They were travelling in the wrong direction on the dual carriageway. | :02:48. | :02:54.
In this latest crash, one man is in hospital receiving | :02:55. | :02:56.
When I was putting out the newspapers this morning, you can see | :02:57. | :03:10.
the tragedy from the front page. And to hear that, I opened up at seven | :03:11. | :03:16.
AA and to hear about fatality overnight... It is just very sad. It | :03:17. | :03:22.
is very important that the families of the deceased and those injured | :03:23. | :03:26.
know what happened to their loved ones and how this happened and more | :03:27. | :03:30.
importantly, what we can do as a local authority to ensure that the | :03:31. | :03:34.
roads we have in this county are safe to travel on. As the county | :03:35. | :03:38.
tries to come to terms with the death of five young lives in 24 | :03:39. | :03:43.
hours, the Gardai have revealed that weather conditions at the time of | :03:44. | :03:47.
the latest accident were good. They have made an urgent appeal for | :03:48. | :03:50.
information as their enquiries continue. | :03:51. | :03:55.
There's been anger in West Belfast after leaflets were distributed | :03:56. | :03:59.
criticising two different groups for their engagements with the PSNI. | :04:00. | :04:02.
One named the organiser of a children's street party | :04:03. | :04:05.
in Turf Lodge, the other named the staff of the West Belfast | :04:06. | :04:07.
The leaflets are being blamed on dissident republicans, | :04:08. | :04:13.
Monagh Road in Turf Lodge - the venue for a community | :04:14. | :04:18.
children's street party, when the PSNI's Black Mountain | :04:19. | :04:21.
What happened next has forced one woman to take a few days | :04:22. | :04:27.
The street party at the weekend was organised for the younger children | :04:28. | :04:38.
of the Turf Lodge area but there has been a good deal of local anger at | :04:39. | :04:43.
the leaflet campaign criticising the PSNI's inclusion in this event and | :04:44. | :04:45.
the naming of one of the organisers. The leaflet was distributed | :04:46. | :04:48.
by the Irish Republican Prisoners' It was entitled "Community Notice" | :04:49. | :04:50.
and said asking the police to attend The organiser is also pictured | :04:51. | :04:54.
and named on social media. On its Facebook page, | :04:55. | :05:01.
the policing team say they were "invited and very | :05:02. | :05:03.
happy to attend." The leaflet has been widely | :05:04. | :05:15.
condemned. They have been named on a leaflet that has been put through | :05:16. | :05:19.
some doors and West Belfast, which is wrong, they are trying to install | :05:20. | :05:23.
fear among people and people should resist this type of action. | :05:24. | :05:25.
Another group has been singled out - Feile an Phobail, | :05:26. | :05:27.
This leaflet names festival staff, accusing them of "promoting | :05:28. | :05:30.
the PSNI" and speaking of "unnecessary PSNI | :05:31. | :05:32.
The festival's director says the leaflet is | :05:33. | :05:37.
a sinister development - especially as it's unsigned. | :05:38. | :05:44.
We invite groups and organisations, regardless of political background, | :05:45. | :05:50.
to build a fence on during the festival and we have done that for | :05:51. | :05:55.
27 years. If groups have an issue with the Feile an Phobail programme, | :05:56. | :05:58.
they are welcome to speak to the staff about the programme and how | :05:59. | :06:02.
they can get involved but as I say, we don't know who we are speaking to | :06:03. | :06:04.
other stage. Festival events are | :06:05. | :06:06.
going ahead as planned. A 74-year-old man with an address | :06:07. | :06:10.
in Glasgow has become the first person to be charged in connection | :06:11. | :06:13.
with the murder in County Donegal 10 years ago of Denis Donaldson, | :06:14. | :06:17.
a former Sinn Fein official Patrick Gillespie was charged | :06:18. | :06:19.
with withholding information Our Dublin correspondent, | :06:20. | :06:28.
Shane Harrison, was there Shane, remind us of who | :06:29. | :06:31.
Denis Donaldson was. Denis Donaldson was a former IRA | :06:32. | :06:42.
prisoner and a friend of the hunger striker Bobby Sands while they were | :06:43. | :06:46.
both in Long Kesh. He worked for Sinn Fein and was arrested by police | :06:47. | :06:50.
as part of their investigation into an alleged spy ring at Stormont. In | :06:51. | :06:57.
December 20,005 the case against him collapsed because the prosecution | :06:58. | :07:01.
said it would not be in the public interest to proceed. -- 2005. Gerry | :07:02. | :07:06.
Adams immediately told a news conference in Dublin that Denis | :07:07. | :07:10.
Donaldson was produced by and Denis Donaldson at the same event said he | :07:11. | :07:13.
had been recruited and vulnerable period in his life. In April 2006 he | :07:14. | :07:21.
was found shot dead at a pre-famine cottage he had been living in in | :07:22. | :07:27.
County Donegal. Almost immediately the provisional IRA said it had no | :07:28. | :07:31.
responsibility or part in the murder whatsoever and three years later the | :07:32. | :07:36.
Real IRA said it was responsible. To date, there has been no inquest, | :07:37. | :07:41.
much to the annoyance of the family. What happened in court today? At the | :07:42. | :07:47.
3-judge Special Criminal Court, Patrick Gillespie, who will be 75 | :07:48. | :07:53.
and December, was charged with withholding information from the | :07:54. | :07:58.
dates of April three 2006 until July the 20th 2016 about the murder of | :07:59. | :08:02.
Denis Donaldson. The court heard his main address was that Craig Farrer | :08:03. | :08:08.
Street in Glasgow but that was disputed by his solicitor, who said | :08:09. | :08:11.
that his residence was in the download area of County Donegal. He | :08:12. | :08:16.
was remanded in custody until noon tomorrow when it is expected there | :08:17. | :08:19.
will be a bail application. Many thanks. | :08:20. | :08:21.
A new report into a cancelled education scheme has found it | :08:22. | :08:24.
helped thousands of pupils improve their English | :08:25. | :08:27.
The literacy and numeracy signature programme ran for two | :08:28. | :08:30.
years until last year, but it wasn't renewed | :08:31. | :08:32.
by the Executive due to a lack of money. | :08:33. | :08:34.
Our education correspondent, Robbie Meredith, reports. | :08:35. | :08:42.
It helped 19,000 pupils like these at Holy Cross boys primary in | :08:43. | :08:48.
Belfast and gave over 300 young teachers and job for two years. | :08:49. | :08:54.
Schools had extra staff to help struggling children in English and | :08:55. | :08:58.
maths and they had a real impact. Of the primary school pupils helped, | :08:59. | :09:02.
over three quarters reached level four or above in English and the | :09:03. | :09:05.
expected skill level at the end of primary school. | :09:06. | :09:11.
Input primary, almost two thirds cut a grade C or above in GCSE English | :09:12. | :09:20.
and 60% got a GCSE grade C or above in mathematics. It cost OFMDFM and | :09:21. | :09:25.
the Department of Education ?60 million over two years. But money | :09:26. | :09:29.
could not be found to keep it going beyond last June, to the regret of | :09:30. | :09:32.
many school leaders. It provided schools with an additional pair of | :09:33. | :09:37.
hands, and additional qualified teacher to work and these are a | :09:38. | :09:41.
newly qualified, highly motivated and skilled and they knew the | :09:42. | :09:44.
curriculum and they were able to work with groups in a targeted | :09:45. | :09:48.
manner who had been identified as being potential underachievers. | :09:49. | :09:52.
Numerous ear and literacy are the cornerstone of subjects so it is | :09:53. | :09:55.
important to get children up to standard. This report shows just how | :09:56. | :09:59.
much of a difference this scheme made to schools, pupils and young | :10:00. | :10:05.
teachers. All for a tiny fraction of the overall to billion pounds | :10:06. | :10:07.
education budget. The money could not be found to keep it going, | :10:08. | :10:11.
showing just how squeezed the budget is. | :10:12. | :10:13.
A dog seized by Belfast City Council can be returned to his home | :10:14. | :10:16.
but his owners must comply with court conditions | :10:17. | :10:18.
Two-year-old Hank was confiscated by dog wardens earlier this month | :10:19. | :10:24.
They concluded he is a pitbull but say that any behavioural issues | :10:25. | :10:31.
Household spending power here is just about half the UK average, | :10:32. | :10:37.
The report compiled for Asda by a firm of economic consultants | :10:38. | :10:42.
shows families in Northern Ireland are experiencing some growth | :10:43. | :10:44.
in their incomes but are still far behind other parts of the UK. | :10:45. | :10:47.
As our Economics and Business Editor John Campbell explains, | :10:48. | :10:49.
it reflects long standing weaknesses in our economy. | :10:50. | :11:00.
Asda produce this report four times a year. | :11:01. | :11:03.
They use official data on pay, taxes, prices, | :11:04. | :11:05.
They try to show what an average household has left over | :11:06. | :11:11.
after they've paid for life's essentials, like groceries, | :11:12. | :11:13.
And it doesn't make great reading for us. | :11:14. | :11:19.
Average disposable income across the UK is estimated | :11:20. | :11:21.
Scotland is just below that and in Wales its ?180 a week. | :11:22. | :11:27.
And to be honest, this number is no real surprise. | :11:28. | :11:34.
It mainly reflects the fact that this is a low-wage economy. | :11:35. | :11:42.
It is on private sector wages where we fall significantly behind and we | :11:43. | :11:49.
have been falling behind since the recession. There was an object last | :11:50. | :11:53.
year in private sector wages but that has only been making up for | :11:54. | :11:57.
lost ground. We have a significant structural problem in terms of the | :11:58. | :12:00.
private sector in Northern Ireland and an explosion of low-wage jobs. | :12:01. | :12:05.
And we really do need a strategy to turn that around. | :12:06. | :12:07.
Disposable income has been edging up over the last two years, | :12:08. | :12:10.
helped by low inflation and a buoyant jobs market. | :12:11. | :12:12.
In 2014 it was just an estimated ?82 a week compared | :12:13. | :12:17.
But even then, we're not closing the gap with the rest of the UK. | :12:18. | :12:23.
The Executive does recognise this is a problem. | :12:24. | :12:25.
The DUP, in particular, have talked about the need | :12:26. | :12:27.
But delivering on that won't be easy. | :12:28. | :12:34.
Wind turbines with a diameter bigger than the London Eye are being | :12:35. | :12:38.
assembled at Belfast Harbour ahead of being lowered into | :12:39. | :12:40.
And the huge project is being followed by another | :12:41. | :12:45.
Here's our agriculture and environment correspondent, | :12:46. | :12:50.
Belfast Harbour can do this work because of a ?50 million investment | :12:51. | :12:56.
which makes it the only UK port with the deep berth | :12:57. | :12:59.
The various bits of the huge turbines are built elsewhere then | :13:00. | :13:05.
brought here for assembly before they're shipped to be lowered | :13:06. | :13:07.
This project involves 32 turbines destined for the coast off | :13:08. | :13:14.
Together they can power a city twice the size of Belfast. | :13:15. | :13:23.
It is only up close that you get a true sense of the monstrous scale of | :13:24. | :13:31.
these turbines, the three blades on each one, this week is bigger than | :13:32. | :13:38.
the London Eye. And one single turn would generate enough electricity to | :13:39. | :13:40.
power a home for almost 30 hours. Government subsidies for land-based | :13:41. | :13:42.
wind farms were cut and many of them But there's still subsidies | :13:43. | :13:45.
for offshore facilities like this. On a day when an announcement | :13:46. | :13:50.
is expected about a new nuclear power plant for the UK, | :13:51. | :13:53.
the company behind this renewable These are ground-breaking machines, | :13:54. | :14:08.
the next generation of technology and crucially, through the use of | :14:09. | :14:12.
turbines we can drive the costs down and reduce the amount of subsidy we | :14:13. | :14:15.
need and that enables the government to commit to supporting us. | :14:16. | :14:17.
And Belfast Harbour says this kind of work has a major | :14:18. | :14:20.
A lot of the operational people are from the local companies in the port | :14:21. | :14:30.
and the ship agents, and a lot of supply companies for equipment, | :14:31. | :14:34.
trucks and etc, we have local companies and some of the | :14:35. | :14:36.
engineering skill set employed in the Assembly will be drawn from | :14:37. | :14:38.
local supply companies as well. This project will be complete | :14:39. | :14:40.
by the end of the year. It'll be followed by another one | :14:41. | :14:42.
which is three times the size. A woman from West Belfast, | :14:43. | :14:47.
whose son has Tourette's, says families here need more support | :14:48. | :14:50.
to cope with the condition. It's a neurological disorder that's | :14:51. | :14:53.
characterised by repetitive In some cases the person | :14:54. | :15:00.
repeatedly swears. Suzanne Lavery's son, Daniel, | :15:01. | :15:02.
was diagnosed when he was ten. Two years later, she's set up | :15:03. | :15:05.
a local support group. As our health correspondent, | :15:06. | :15:07.
Marie-Louise Connolly, reports, Tourette's affects | :15:08. | :15:09.
different people in different ways. Tourette's is a condition that | :15:10. | :15:13.
often has no boundaries. Captured in this BBC programme, | :15:14. | :15:16.
Tourette's syndrome is an inherited | :15:17. | :15:25.
neurological condition. Extreme cases can involve | :15:26. | :15:27.
constant swearing. Other key features are called tics, | :15:28. | :15:30.
which are involuntary, But not everyone will display | :15:31. | :15:32.
the typical symptoms. Daniel Lavery was diagnosed | :15:33. | :15:45.
with Tourette's two years ago. While today his symptoms appear | :15:46. | :15:48.
mild, sometimes they're severe. When he comes home from school, a | :15:49. | :16:01.
lot of the time I would say he has a severe tic explosion, he would | :16:02. | :16:04.
twitch with his shoulder and his neck and he would float clear quite | :16:05. | :16:10.
a lot, drinking his eyes and sniffing. | :16:11. | :16:12.
A keen footballer, Daniel was encouraged when he received | :16:13. | :16:14.
a letter from former Everton footballer Tim Howard, | :16:15. | :16:16.
He gave me some advice about not being worried and it is just a | :16:17. | :16:27.
little thing in your life. I don't really notice it. | :16:28. | :16:29.
It's not known what causes Tourette's. | :16:30. | :16:30.
At present, research points to abnormalities | :16:31. | :16:32.
But over time the symptoms can get worse. | :16:33. | :16:38.
We think it works on a transmitter in the brain, which causes | :16:39. | :16:45.
overactivity and therefore you are not able to put the braking system | :16:46. | :16:51.
on so it presents in children with abnormal movement, which they are | :16:52. | :16:52.
not able to stop. Suzanne has now set up a local | :16:53. | :16:54.
support group in Belfast with families travelling | :16:55. | :16:57.
from as far as Dublin. It is really hard to reach any | :16:58. | :17:04.
professional support and help. Most of the support and help we have | :17:05. | :17:06.
received has been from other parents. | :17:07. | :17:08.
Suzanne's next challenge is a conference on the issue taking | :17:09. | :17:10.
It's halfway through the school holidays and for many parents, | :17:11. | :17:15.
the challenge of entertaining children without | :17:16. | :17:17.
resorting to screens is getting harder and harder. | :17:18. | :17:21.
So we sent BBC Newsline's Mark Simpson on a search for some ideas. | :17:22. | :17:32.
The weather can be a problem. A big problem. But it is not the only one. | :17:33. | :17:42.
For others like Julian Watson, it is getting the children off computers | :17:43. | :17:48.
and phones. They are an absolute nuisance, 20 47, constantly in their | :17:49. | :17:52.
hands. It is a nightmare to get them off them. -- 24-7. Belfast City | :17:53. | :18:02.
Council are running free fun days. But what about the rest of the week? | :18:03. | :18:08.
Finding things to do can be a tall order. But here is some advice. Make | :18:09. | :18:13.
a rotor with your kids, plan the week ahead and give them ideas of | :18:14. | :18:16.
what they want to do and said that in writing so they know what is | :18:17. | :18:19.
going on and when, just to give yourself some peace. There is always | :18:20. | :18:25.
the summer scheme. Where someone else has to clear up the mess. But | :18:26. | :18:31.
many kids prefer to stay at home and play electronic games. It is | :18:32. | :18:35.
increasingly hard for parents to compete but if you can just create | :18:36. | :18:39.
space within your day for the tablets to be put to one side, the | :18:40. | :18:44.
mobile phones to be switched off. Including the parents, because we | :18:45. | :18:46.
are as guilty at times of being stuck to the screens as our | :18:47. | :18:50.
children. And just planned activities with children, make a | :18:51. | :18:55.
packed lunch, take yourself out. It will rain in Northern Ireland but | :18:56. | :18:59.
let us get on with it, but only waterproofs and splash in the | :19:00. | :19:02.
puddles. That is what being a child is all about- playing and having | :19:03. | :19:15.
fun. You can have all the new craft ideas in the world, gymnastics, a | :19:16. | :19:17.
brand-new part, but let's face it- were some kids you cannot beat the | :19:18. | :19:20.
old favourite... Kicking a ball about! It is going to be a long | :19:21. | :19:23.
summer! D-Day for Carl Frampton | :19:24. | :19:24.
is just two days away. Mark Sidebottom is here with this | :19:25. | :19:26.
evening's sport. He was the special guest | :19:27. | :19:28.
at a New York Mets The aim for Frampton is to make | :19:29. | :19:32.
sporting history by becoming the first fighter from here to win | :19:33. | :19:36.
world titles at two The difficulty comes in the shape | :19:37. | :19:38.
of the tough and unbeaten Mexican, New York is in the middle of a | :19:39. | :19:54.
heatwave and the pre-fight publicity bandwagon is in full swing. With | :19:55. | :19:57.
huge demands on Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz in the build-up to | :19:58. | :20:03.
Saturday's showdown. Unlike most high-profile contests, there has | :20:04. | :20:06.
been no verbal sparring between the fighters, both boxers are determined | :20:07. | :20:10.
to do their talking in the ring. We don't need any aggravation, this | :20:11. | :20:15.
fight is not needed, this fight sells itself, amazing, two | :20:16. | :20:19.
undefeated fighters ready to go to war and do what it takes to win. All | :20:20. | :20:24.
the pressure is on Leo Santa Cruz, people are expecting him to win, I'm | :20:25. | :20:28.
going to upset things. I am not here to take part, to just put in a good | :20:29. | :20:33.
performance, I am here to bring the title back to Belfast. Everybody | :20:34. | :20:38.
loves you buy come, will America love you after this? I hope so, I | :20:39. | :20:43.
had a good reception artier, I hope people appreciate my style of | :20:44. | :20:47.
fighting, I think myself and Leo Santa Cruz, our styles will gel well | :20:48. | :20:50.
together, an interesting fight and I am hoping to pick up new fans. | :20:51. | :20:54.
People talk about his height and reach, how would you counteract | :20:55. | :20:58.
that? I have dealt with bigger guys my whole career! I am used to that | :20:59. | :21:02.
and I have fought bigger guys than Leo Santa Cruz. On the night I will | :21:03. | :21:07.
be stronger, heavier in the ring. I will be the bigger man and a | :21:08. | :21:10.
stronger man and that could be a difference. It is a first time he | :21:11. | :21:14.
has been the underdog. I used to love that. He is a fighter. And you | :21:15. | :21:19.
tell this fighters that you cannot do that you cannot beat him, it | :21:20. | :21:23.
gives them that extra inspiration. No better time for him to move up | :21:24. | :21:29.
and fight this fellow. He has just unified the belts, Super | :21:30. | :21:32.
Bantamweight, moving up, he is on the crest of the crest of a wave. | :21:33. | :21:37.
Once you get in the ring, where both the same fighter. I never take that | :21:38. | :21:47.
for granted. I always respect any fighter when I get in the ring. We | :21:48. | :21:53.
train the best, whoever trains the most will take this. Winning against | :21:54. | :22:02.
Carl Frampton, that will get us to the next level. If he gets the win, | :22:03. | :22:07.
he will go up. It is career defining both of. Whoever wins this will be | :22:08. | :22:12.
considered maybe the best pound for pound or even get into the rankings | :22:13. | :22:18.
as one of the best. Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton will go | :22:19. | :22:21.
head-to-head at the final pre-fight press conference in a couple of | :22:22. | :22:24.
hours before the way in tomorrow in Brooklyn. | :22:25. | :22:27.
Golf and Rory McIlroy's assault on a third USPGA title is underway - | :22:28. | :22:30.
the world number four won the event in 2012 and 2014. | :22:31. | :22:39.
But he struggled today, shooting an opening round of 74. | :22:40. | :22:42.
McIlroy believes the course suits his game and reckons this | :22:43. | :22:45.
is a good chance to add to his four Major titles. | :22:46. | :22:49.
Meanwhile, heavy overnight rain resulted in a six-hour delay on day | :22:50. | :22:54.
one of the Northern Ireland Open at Galgorm in Ballymena, | :22:55. | :22:56.
but the rain abated and the surface water was cleared. | :22:57. | :23:02.
John Ross Gilbreath shot 68 to go three off the lead. Michael Hoey is | :23:03. | :23:07.
two shots further back. Next, to one of rowing's | :23:08. | :23:09.
greatest ambassadors. Alan Campbell was a bronze medallist | :23:10. | :23:11.
at the London Olympics. The Coleraine man's tears | :23:12. | :23:13.
on the podium became one For the latest in BBC | :23:14. | :23:15.
Newsline's Road to Rio series, Nigel Ringland caught up | :23:16. | :23:19.
with the 33-year-old on the cusp From a precocious 21-year-old in | :23:20. | :23:33.
Athens 12 years ago to fifth place in the final at Beijing... And then, | :23:34. | :23:37.
as a perk medal winning performance at London 2012. Alan Campbell! | :23:38. | :23:46.
Getting the bronze medal! In Rio, Alan Campbell will become the first | :23:47. | :23:49.
four-time Olympian from Northern Ireland. I am proud to represent | :23:50. | :23:53.
Northern Ireland, Coleraine, my family. All the way through. To my | :23:54. | :24:01.
fourth Olympic Games, I feel very honoured, it is very special and I | :24:02. | :24:07.
am pretty happy about it. What makes the Alan Campbell of 2016 different | :24:08. | :24:11.
to the man who went to Athens all those years ago? I was very naive, | :24:12. | :24:16.
very young, I did not know what to expect, I was quite wide-eyed, | :24:17. | :24:22.
starry night, but now, I am older, wiser, rugged and possibly a bit | :24:23. | :24:27.
more worn down as well! I have definitely got a lot more things | :24:28. | :24:32.
going on outside of my sport. I have a family. I am married. It makes a | :24:33. | :24:37.
big difference because I feel I am not just going there to represent | :24:38. | :24:42.
myself, when you think about the sacrifice I have made individually, | :24:43. | :24:45.
I am there to represent myself and all of those people who have helped | :24:46. | :24:50.
and supported me all the way through to do something very special. If | :24:51. | :24:53.
Campbell can reach the single sculls final, more than likely it will be | :24:54. | :24:57.
his last competitive race. Can he finish on a high? It is the best of | :24:58. | :25:03.
the best competing in the final and there will be six guys entering that | :25:04. | :25:07.
race and if I can put myself in their, three of us will be going | :25:08. | :25:12.
home with medals and three will not, but you can be rest assured that I | :25:13. | :25:14.
will do everything in my power possible to win the medal. I know | :25:15. | :25:18.
that the whole of Northern Ireland will be cheering for me. Whatever | :25:19. | :25:22.
happens in Rio, it is a sporting career to be proud of. He is a true | :25:23. | :25:32.
titan, as is Aaron Hughes. He has signed a one year deal with Indian | :25:33. | :25:34.
Super League side, Carella blasters. Cecilia has the weather. What a day! | :25:35. | :25:46.
Today is the worst of the week and after tonight, parents can breathe a | :25:47. | :25:51.
sigh of relief because things are looking much drier, not just | :25:52. | :25:55.
tomorrow but through the weekend. He drier weather has already reached | :25:56. | :25:59.
much of Londonderry, Antrim and it is still quite armband drizzly | :26:00. | :26:04.
across parts of Tyrone, Fermanagh, County Armagh and County Down and | :26:05. | :26:07.
will continue to sink southwards over the next few hours so by around | :26:08. | :26:11.
midnight most places will be dry and the rest of the night will be dry | :26:12. | :26:14.
with breaks on the cloud Underwood could get quite cool with | :26:15. | :26:17.
temperatures falling to eight or 9 degrees and the wind blows back into | :26:18. | :26:20.
the north-west tomorrow so there will be a coolness to the air and | :26:21. | :26:25.
freshness as well. But no big puddles tomorrow morning. A much | :26:26. | :26:30.
nicer dry, lovely sunrises around, sunshine, and most places will get | :26:31. | :26:34.
away with a dry morning but by lunchtime the cloud will bubble up | :26:35. | :26:37.
and we will start to see just a scattering of light showers breaking | :26:38. | :26:42.
out. But completely rain free but no big downpours, plenty of dry gaps in | :26:43. | :26:46.
between the showers and still some sunshine at times as well. The best | :26:47. | :26:50.
sunshine in the morning. Because breezes coming from the sea, 16 | :26:51. | :26:54.
degrees towards the north coast but close to the average, 1920, over | :26:55. | :26:59.
parts of County Down is that will feel quite nice when you get | :27:00. | :27:04.
sunshine. And that means much drier conditions for the Armoy road races | :27:05. | :27:10.
on Friday and Saturday. Some passing showers around so it will not be | :27:11. | :27:13.
completely dry but certainly much drier than today. Saturday, you | :27:14. | :27:17.
might be more likely to catch a shower but there will still be dry | :27:18. | :27:21.
weather around. It is on the cool side as well with temperatures | :27:22. | :27:24.
stepping back a degree or so but can you imagine if you had a picnic | :27:25. | :27:29.
today? How wet and soggy it would have been! Saturday afternoon is | :27:30. | :27:33.
looking a bit drier. That is the Belfast City Hall big picnic. | :27:34. | :27:40.
Looking ahead to the weekend, it is drier, the odd shower and a coolness | :27:41. | :27:41.
to the breeze with sunshine also. You can also keep in contact with us | :27:42. | :27:44.
