Good evening. This is BBC Newsline. | :00:16. | :00:16.
And these are the headlines this Monday evening... | :00:17. | :00:22.
MLAs reject a call for Northern Ireland to get | :00:23. | :00:24.
special status, when it comes to Brexit. | :00:25. | :00:27.
Too many unsustainable schools, warns the minister. | :00:28. | :00:29.
He says there'll have to be closures and mergers. | :00:30. | :00:37.
A man accused of murdering his friend and putting his body into a | :00:38. | :00:44.
wheelie bin admits trying to hide the body, but denies killing him. | :00:45. | :00:46.
The former soldiers struggling to adapt to life | :00:47. | :00:49.
Injured. And just get left in the dustbin. Rejected. Tributes to | :00:50. | :01:05.
Anthony Foley, who died suddenly at the weekend. | :01:06. | :01:08.
More wet weather to come tonight as well. | :01:09. | :01:15.
MLAs have narrowly rejected a call for Northern Ireland to be granted | :01:16. | :01:18.
special status, in the event of the UK's withdrawal | :01:19. | :01:20.
During the debate, the SDLP called on unionists to reconsider | :01:21. | :01:28.
their refusal to attend the Irish government's civic dialogue | :01:29. | :01:30.
on Brexit, which is due to convene next month. | :01:31. | :01:35.
Our Political Editor, Mark Devenport, joins me now. | :01:36. | :01:37.
This debate was opened by the SDLP leader, Colum Eastwood. | :01:38. | :01:41.
Colum Eastwood argued that it presents the greatest challenge | :01:42. | :01:55.
facing Britain and Ireland. He said he didn't believe there would be a | :01:56. | :01:59.
hard border. He said, eventually, there might have to be a border down | :02:00. | :02:03.
the middle of the Irish Sea. He was scathing of the executive, accusing | :02:04. | :02:08.
them of lacking urgency and only writing a letter and waiting for a | :02:09. | :02:11.
reply from the Prime Minister. We should be kicking the door in the | :02:12. | :02:15.
British Prime Minister to ensure that the interests of the people of | :02:16. | :02:19.
Northern Ireland are protected. I don't hear anything coming from the | :02:20. | :02:22.
British government that would give us any confidence that the issue of | :02:23. | :02:28.
people here is that the top of their agenda. How did Unionists respond? | :02:29. | :02:36.
The DUP in particular argued that the whole of the UK took a decision | :02:37. | :02:40.
to leave and that is how it should be. They pointed out that some | :02:41. | :02:46.
constituencies he voted to leave and some butter to remain. And they | :02:47. | :02:50.
ridiculed the idea that they should be treated differently. This is the | :02:51. | :02:53.
logic of saying that we should divide the country up into certain | :02:54. | :02:59.
areas. Maybe we should carve off the eastern area of Belfast? And it | :03:00. | :03:02.
should stay out, but the others should stay in. This is the logic. | :03:03. | :03:06.
This is the logic that seeks to divide. Where does it end? Does | :03:07. | :03:10.
London secede from the union to? What are the implications of this | :03:11. | :03:12.
motion being lost? It was a very narrow defeat. Just | :03:13. | :03:22.
one single vote lost it. The Ulster Unionist 's quirky. In the | :03:23. | :03:26.
referendum campaign, they campaigned to stay in the EU. They voted in | :03:27. | :03:32.
favour of keeping Northern Ireland and the single market. They felt | :03:33. | :03:37.
like special status was too far. And we now have a situation that whilst | :03:38. | :03:43.
the majority voted to remain, it could complicate matters that | :03:44. | :03:46.
representatives here have voted against special status in the | :03:47. | :03:47.
future. Last month, we had news of a plan | :03:48. | :03:48.
to amalgamate three post primary | :03:49. | :03:50.
schools in West Belfast. Now, we've learned of many more | :03:51. | :03:52.
planned mergers and closures across Northern Ireland | :03:53. | :03:54.
in the years ahead. Our Education Correspondent, | :03:55. | :03:59.
Robbie Meredith, is with me. You have a document with you that | :04:00. | :04:07.
talks about this forecast. Why are we going to see more schools | :04:08. | :04:10.
close or merge? We have too many schools, with not | :04:11. | :04:17.
enough pupils. It is not the first time this problem has been | :04:18. | :04:21.
identified. This rather long document with the latest attempt to | :04:22. | :04:25.
tackle it. It has been produced by the education authority and other | :04:26. | :04:28.
bodies to set out where we're going to need fewer schools in future. But | :04:29. | :04:34.
introducing it in the Assembly today, Peter Weyer seems to indicate | :04:35. | :04:38.
that we had too many small schools, especially. The area plan confirms | :04:39. | :04:41.
that in some areas we have too many schools for the number children and | :04:42. | :04:47.
young people to be able to fill them. In other areas, it highlights | :04:48. | :04:50.
there are not sufficient places in the right places. Challenge that | :04:51. | :04:53.
faces almost all of the government district is that we have schools | :04:54. | :04:57.
that are too small to adequately provide the pupils. And ensure they | :04:58. | :05:01.
have the opportunity to fill their potential. I will say this again. | :05:02. | :05:06.
This is something cannot continue. -- --- Peter. | :05:07. | :05:11.
Which schools are known to be affected? We don't know that yet. We | :05:12. | :05:19.
do not have names yet. Those factors could include things like the school | :05:20. | :05:23.
is attracting enough pupils, if it is providing a good education and | :05:24. | :05:27.
good leadership. If you look at the number of young people forecast to | :05:28. | :05:31.
be in an area, that is going to be key. This says in the Armagh council | :05:32. | :05:35.
areas, there is going to be an increase in the number of young | :05:36. | :05:41.
people. Early next year, we will hear the names of schools that are | :05:42. | :05:46.
set to close or merge? -- close or merge. | :05:47. | :05:48.
A large number of schools are facing financial problems. | :05:49. | :05:51.
The EA says this is about all pupils getting good education. But the | :05:52. | :06:00.
finances are going to be key. And this has some startling predictions | :06:01. | :06:06.
in it. It says that 325 primary schools, that is nearly four in ten, | :06:07. | :06:11.
and 62 post primary schools, that is almost a third, they are going to | :06:12. | :06:16.
move from a budget surplus this year to eight budget deficit by 2018 or | :06:17. | :06:21.
2019. And that of the time when the education budget is decreasing. And | :06:22. | :06:26.
that will save money if they close or merge. | :06:27. | :06:27.
Still ahead on BBC Newsline before 7:30pm... | :06:28. | :06:31.
The world superbikes title is just a couple of points of the Ballyclare | :06:32. | :06:40.
rider Jonathan Rea. -- if you point away. | :06:41. | :06:42.
A man on trial for murdering his friend and putting the body | :06:43. | :06:45.
into a bin has admitted telling his former girlfriend | :06:46. | :06:47.
But, in court today, Stephen Hughes said he was not in his right mind | :06:48. | :06:52.
when he said he'd killed 40-year-old Owen Creaney | :06:53. | :06:54.
in Craigavon two years ago. | :06:55. | :06:55.
They were friends and they used to socialise together. But Stephen | :06:56. | :07:09.
Hughes, seen here on the left, is accused of murdering Owen Creaney | :07:10. | :07:13.
and hiding his body in a bin. He died two years ago in July 20 14. | :07:14. | :07:18.
Two days after being punched and kicked so hard that 15 of his ribs | :07:19. | :07:23.
were broken. Stephen Hughes is on trial for the murder and in court | :07:24. | :07:27.
today he admitted telling his ex-girlfriend he had been involved. | :07:28. | :07:30.
"I Told her... Although Stephen Hughes denies | :07:31. | :07:48.
murdering his friend, Owen Creaney, he admits he did put his body into a | :07:49. | :07:52.
wheelie bin. But he insisted on court today he didn't do it alone. | :07:53. | :07:56.
He said another friend had helped him. 25-year-old should mean boil | :07:57. | :08:02.
and that she had been the one who attacked him, causing his injuries. | :08:03. | :08:08.
She too is now on trial and she also denies murder. The two defendants | :08:09. | :08:13.
have blamed each other. Mark Simpson, BBC Newsline. | :08:14. | :08:15.
The name of a soldier who fired a shot which claimed the life | :08:16. | :08:19.
of a teenage boy has been officially disclosed for the first time. | :08:20. | :08:21.
At a new inquest into the death of Manus Deery in Londonderry | :08:22. | :08:24.
in 1972, his sister said there was still a stain on his name. | :08:25. | :08:27.
And she wanted the fresh inquiry to declare him innocent. | :08:28. | :08:30.
She said the allegation he was carrying a rifle was false. | :08:31. | :08:32.
Here's our North-West reporter, Keiron Tourish. | :08:33. | :08:39.
Manus Deery was shot me the 19th 1972. He had been standing in the | :08:40. | :08:49.
park with a group of friends when a soldier filed from high up on the | :08:50. | :08:55.
city walls. The Army maintained that the soldier fired at what he thought | :08:56. | :08:59.
was the gunman. But he missed and the shot ricocheted and injured the | :09:00. | :09:05.
teenager. The families have always disputed the Army's version of | :09:06. | :09:11.
events. They believe he was unlawfully killed. I'm hoping they | :09:12. | :09:15.
will overturn the original inquest. The verdict of it. It was an open | :09:16. | :09:22.
verdict. And have that changed to unlawful killing. For peace of mind | :09:23. | :09:35.
for my family and the witnesses and just let Manus rest. I loved my | :09:36. | :09:39.
brother. He was beautiful. And I will go another 44 years if I have | :09:40. | :09:45.
to do. On the evening of his death, the 15-year-old was celebrating | :09:46. | :09:48.
getting his first pay packet after starting work on a local factory two | :09:49. | :09:53.
weeks earlier. He had left home to go to a local chip shop. But after | :09:54. | :10:00.
he was shot, Manus Deery was pronounced dead at hospital. In his | :10:01. | :10:03.
opening address, the council for the coroner said that the soldier who | :10:04. | :10:08.
fired the shot that killed Manus Deery was no longer entitled to a | :10:09. | :10:12.
claim for anonymity. They said that sold a was a Mr William Glasgow, who | :10:13. | :10:18.
was now deceased. The court was also told about a special bronze | :10:19. | :10:22.
assessment of Manus Deery. He was not a known terrorist. And not known | :10:23. | :10:26.
to be engaged in terrorist activities. -- special Branch. The | :10:27. | :10:30.
family say there has never been a proper investigation into the death | :10:31. | :10:38.
in the original inquest in July 1973 returned an open verdict. The | :10:39. | :10:47.
inquest continues. Survivors of historical child abuse are calling | :10:48. | :10:53.
for a ?20 million compensation team for victims in Northern Ireland. It | :10:54. | :10:58.
would include ?10,000 for each of 524 victims who came forward to big | :10:59. | :11:02.
historical institutional abuse enquiry. Details were outlined today | :11:03. | :11:07.
by the survivors and victims of institutional abuse group. Its | :11:08. | :11:13.
spokesperson says their proposed package could save the public purse | :11:14. | :11:17.
?10 million in the long term. That is the case -- then they will not be | :11:18. | :11:23.
seen in court. We know that people going to court, the solicitors will | :11:24. | :11:29.
make a fortune out of the government. It could go to 200 | :11:30. | :11:36.
million. If they go with this restored -- report, this could save | :11:37. | :11:37.
millions and millions of pounds. A charity that helps army veterans | :11:38. | :11:39.
here says it's been dealing with more than 100 who've tried | :11:40. | :11:42.
to take their own lives. will be raised at | :11:43. | :11:45.
Westminster tomorrow. And it was the subject | :11:46. | :11:47.
of a documentary on BBC Radio Ulster yesterday by our reporter, | :11:48. | :11:50.
Kevin Sharkey. He spoke to some former soldiers | :11:51. | :11:55.
who are trying to cope Back from Afghanistan, out of the | :11:56. | :12:09.
Army and struggling to cope with the memories of the battlefield. Some | :12:10. | :12:12.
veterans have returned home with mental scars, others physical | :12:13. | :12:18.
wounds. Severed the artery in the net. Lost ?7 of blood into the | :12:19. | :12:31.
ground. Voice and brain and others. Injured in 2009. I was in Selly Oak | :12:32. | :12:35.
for two months. I was in a coma for ten days. He was 18 when he went to | :12:36. | :12:41.
Afghanistan. During his teenage Army service that, he contemplated his | :12:42. | :12:48.
mortality. You look yourself and think, this could be it. Returning | :12:49. | :12:57.
home, there were more challenges. Adjusting to show sea life. -- city | :12:58. | :13:06.
life. What do I do? So I went to do different things. I was crazy for a | :13:07. | :13:12.
couple of years. And I didn't know what to do. And then I started to | :13:13. | :13:16.
struggle. Getting somewhere to live. This Army veteran has found a home | :13:17. | :13:22.
in the last week through this charity. The demand keeps coming. | :13:23. | :13:26.
PHONE RINGS we have to look at every person that comes through the door, | :13:27. | :13:30.
not just one. The Afghanistan people particularly was a vicious campaign. | :13:31. | :13:36.
You have heard some of the stories. But wasn't even the tip of the | :13:37. | :13:42.
iceberg. The issues raised will be raised in Parliament tomorrow. It is | :13:43. | :13:48.
an epidemic. I have been bringing this up -- I will be bringing this | :13:49. | :13:55.
up tomorrow. Veterans here say they are living with the problems daily. | :13:56. | :14:04.
Everybody thinks that the injuries had died down. They haven't. And I | :14:05. | :14:08.
come home, it's like nobody really cares. The campaign for better | :14:09. | :14:13.
services aims to allow them to move on from the past and look to the | :14:14. | :14:14.
future. Two girls were injured | :14:15. | :14:16.
when they were hit by a car It happened close | :14:17. | :14:19.
to St Mary's Primary School One of the girls has been taken | :14:20. | :14:23.
to Craigavon Area Hospital, where she is said to be | :14:24. | :14:29.
in a stable condition. The other was taken | :14:30. | :14:31.
to the Royal Hospital in Belfast. We're told her injuries aren't | :14:32. | :14:34.
thought to be life threatening. Celebrating half a century of the | :14:35. | :14:40.
Armagh Pipers Club. A woman has described to | :14:41. | :14:54.
BBC Newsline how the victim of a shooting was bleeding | :14:55. | :14:57.
at her front door, asking for help. The man was wounded several times | :14:58. | :15:01.
in the leg in Poleglass The shooting happened in Glenwood | :15:02. | :15:16.
Drive on the outskirts of west Belfast. The police are calling it a | :15:17. | :15:20.
paramilitary style attack. The man was shot just before 8pm last night. | :15:21. | :15:24.
He then made his way to a nearby house to ask for help. The woman who | :15:25. | :15:28.
found him said she was left in shock by what she found. He had his hands | :15:29. | :15:37.
down and there was blood. There was blood on the path. He just said he | :15:38. | :15:41.
was shot. And then the ambulance came. It came quite quickly. And | :15:42. | :15:48.
they got him in and took him away. I was actually with my grandson. He is | :15:49. | :15:55.
only 12. If he'd walked up and seen that, it's not bearable to think | :15:56. | :15:59.
about, what the kids saw in the street. The police are appealing for | :16:00. | :16:09.
information. A man in his 20s needed hospital treatment for stab wounds | :16:10. | :16:14.
after a fight in Belfast city centre earlier today. It is thought he is | :16:15. | :16:17.
not in a life-threatening condition. A woman also in her 20s was punched | :16:18. | :16:19.
in the face during the incident. And,staying in Armagh | :16:20. | :16:29.
for another anniversary, the Armagh Pipers Club is | :16:30. | :16:31.
50 years old this year. To mark the occasion, | :16:32. | :16:34.
BBC Two Northern Ireland has on the traditional Irish music | :16:35. | :16:36.
school starting tonight. Francis Gorman has a preview | :16:37. | :16:40.
of what's in store. Down the decades, thousands have | :16:41. | :16:54.
learned music air. It was started in 1966. He wanted to give children the | :16:55. | :17:01.
opportunity to play and enjoy music. My specific interest in learning and | :17:02. | :17:07.
playing music did not happen until I went to Edinburgh in 1961. I started | :17:08. | :17:14.
listening and I was an avid listener about the sound -- thought it was | :17:15. | :17:19.
really interesting. I didn't know if it was the pipes. Now more pupils | :17:20. | :17:34.
attend every week. For over 20 years, the school has organised an | :17:35. | :17:41.
international music festival. I think the festival is a massive | :17:42. | :17:45.
event. But I think for the younger members of the club it is a massive | :17:46. | :17:51.
thing. It is a massive thing for the pipers, every November they have a | :17:52. | :17:55.
lot of the best pipers. Not just in Ireland, but around the world come | :17:56. | :18:00.
down and perform. The first of three programmes on the pipers club starts | :18:01. | :18:04.
tonight on BBC Two and I at ten o'clock. -- BBC Two NI. | :18:05. | :18:19.
The world of rugby has been stunned by the death of Munster's head coach | :18:20. | :18:22.
and former Irish international, Anthony Foley. | :18:23. | :18:24.
He was just 42. Tributes have been flooding in from across the world. | :18:25. | :18:37.
Foley, the Munster head coach, | :18:38. | :18:38.
in Paris, where his side were due to play Racing 92 | :18:39. | :18:42.
Today, in a statement the IRFU said... | :18:43. | :18:47.
"The Irish rugby family has lost a special individual. | :18:48. | :18:50.
"Anthony represented Ireland with distinction. | :18:51. | :18:51.
"And will be fondly remembered for his contribution | :18:52. | :18:53.
"in the green of Ireland and the red of Munster". | :18:54. | :18:57.
Anthony Foley will be remembered as I hard, uncompromising player. With | :18:58. | :19:04.
great intelligence for the game, it was expected a long coaching career | :19:05. | :19:12.
would follow. His father and is sister represented Ireland. He | :19:13. | :19:18.
quickly made his mark at the highest level, going on to win 62 caps for | :19:19. | :19:24.
his country. But he is best-known for his association with Munster. | :19:25. | :19:29.
One of the province's most influential figures. He made 200 | :19:30. | :19:32.
appearances in the back row playing career that spanned 15 years. The | :19:33. | :19:40.
pinnacle came when he lifted the European cup. He would go on to | :19:41. | :19:45.
coach is beloved of Munster in 2014, a career in its infancy cut | :19:46. | :19:50.
painfully short. It is the hardest thing to let sink in. He was a | :19:51. | :19:57.
legend of Irish rugby, a good friend and a great coach. I loved working | :19:58. | :20:02.
with him. To think I am not going to see him again is surreal. I cannot | :20:03. | :20:06.
believe it. The most abiding memories are about as absolute | :20:07. | :20:12.
passion on and off the field to keep the traditions of rugby alive. I | :20:13. | :20:17.
think he was just a fantastic guy to be around, whether it was the | :20:18. | :20:21.
pragmatic approach that one games or after the game that he enjoyed as | :20:22. | :20:26.
well. My time coaching with him was special. I will miss him. His | :20:27. | :20:32.
passing leaves a huge void in the game across Ireland and beyond, as | :20:33. | :20:38.
the Rugby world comes to turns with the lost of one of its great. | :20:39. | :20:45.
Ulster Director of Rugby Les Kiss - who we saw paying tribute there - | :20:46. | :20:50.
confirmed today that Ruan Pienaar jarred his knee in the 28-13 defeat | :20:51. | :20:53.
But Ulster have had "positive news" on the injury today. | :20:54. | :20:57.
And they will know within 48 hours if Pienaar | :20:58. | :20:59.
Bethany Firth has been taking part in the Heroes Parade today, | :21:00. | :21:03.
to celebrate the achievements of Great Britain's | :21:04. | :21:06.
The Seaforde swimmer was celebrating her success in Rio. | :21:07. | :21:10.
It was great to have everyone out here supporting us. So honoured that | :21:11. | :21:21.
they got behind us in Rio, even though it is raining and everyone | :21:22. | :21:25.
was still smiling here. They gave us so much support and we wouldn't be | :21:26. | :21:28.
here without them. So it is great they came out and cheered us on. | :21:29. | :21:31.
Jonathan Rea has all but retained his World Superbikes title, | :21:32. | :21:33.
after the penultimate round in Jerez. | :21:34. | :21:35.
A second-place finish in Race 2 yesterday means the Ballyclare rider | :21:36. | :21:37.
just needs two more points in Qatar, in a fortnight's time, | :21:38. | :21:40.
It is safe to say that Jonathan Rea is adored by the bike fans from back | :21:41. | :21:54.
home. And they have travelled to Spain in their hundreds to see his | :21:55. | :22:01.
attempt at the world title. He pushed hard to push his nearest | :22:02. | :22:05.
rival for the championship. But there wasn't quite enough distance | :22:06. | :22:09.
between the two team-mates for him to finish off his remarkable year. | :22:10. | :22:16.
It is close. We can go in a relaxed manner. A lot of my friends and | :22:17. | :22:20.
family are going. It should be nice because we have worked so hard for | :22:21. | :22:24.
this. We put it together throughout the season in different conditions | :22:25. | :22:28.
and it seems right now we are leading by a substantial margin. And | :22:29. | :22:31.
we have done the best job over the year. To be on the podium at pretty | :22:32. | :22:36.
much every single track is a great result. It virtually guarantees | :22:37. | :22:46.
another world crown. The fans are already in the party mood. He has | :22:47. | :22:51.
put us on the map. He is doing it. He is doing it again. He is a world | :22:52. | :22:58.
icon, well he should be. He is a world champion. I have never | :22:59. | :23:01.
experienced anything like this in my life. It is brilliant. I am humbled | :23:02. | :23:10.
by the support I have had. I'm lucky that people are paving the way of | :23:11. | :23:13.
motorcycling in Northern Ireland. It makes the hairs on the back of my | :23:14. | :23:18.
neck stand up. People made the effort to come here. And the | :23:19. | :23:22.
grandstand was full again with Northern Ireland flag and it is | :23:23. | :23:27.
something I am happy with. The prospect of having two championships | :23:28. | :23:31.
to my name is crazy. The official celebrations are on hold for a | :23:32. | :23:35.
couple of weeks. The Jonathan Rea is pretty certain another championship | :23:36. | :23:40.
will be his. He's best in the world for a second year in the road. And | :23:41. | :23:45.
he says he is proud to deliver more success for Northern Ireland. | :23:46. | :23:47.
The Communities Minister, Paul Givan, today announced | :23:48. | :23:48.
funding of ?124,000 towards improved safety measures | :23:49. | :23:52.
Speaking at the announcement at Stormont, | :23:53. | :23:56.
Race Director Mervyn Whyte welcomed the news. | :23:57. | :23:58.
And he explained how the money will be spent. | :23:59. | :24:03.
The bulk of the money will end up going into the safety bills which | :24:04. | :24:10.
are approved by the government of the sport. And they are around the | :24:11. | :24:18.
course itself. We carry out risk assessments and they dictate where | :24:19. | :24:21.
they go. So there will be used for that. And that provides protection | :24:22. | :24:30.
in a serious incident. It is essential that we give as much | :24:31. | :24:36.
protection as we can to the competitors and spectators. | :24:37. | :24:37.
Ballymena United continue to be the form side in local football. | :24:38. | :24:40.
They defeated league champions, Crusaders, | :24:41. | :24:41.
David Jeffrey's men, who had beaten Linfield 4-1 | :24:42. | :24:44.
in the League Cup midweek, ran out 2-1 winners. | :24:45. | :24:47.
You can watch full highlights of all the weekend's action | :24:48. | :24:50.
Also on the iPlayer and the BBC Sport NI website. | :24:51. | :24:53.
Ryan Burnett outpointed England's Ryan Farrag | :24:54. | :24:56.
to defend his British bantamweight title on Saturday. | :24:57. | :24:58.
The unbeaten Belfast boxer won comfortably | :24:59. | :25:00.
on a unanimous points decision in Liverpool. | :25:01. | :25:05.
Kilcoo beat Scotstown in the preliminary round | :25:06. | :25:08.
The Down champions won by one goal and eight points to nine points. | :25:09. | :25:15.
Angie Phillips has the latest weather news. | :25:16. | :25:26.
How is it looking? We have had some lovely sunshine in some places. | :25:27. | :25:34.
Quite a few showers, though. Quite a changeable start the week. If we get | :25:35. | :25:38.
beyond tomorrow, things will start to settle down. Easing winds | :25:39. | :25:42.
becoming drier. Some sunshine around. The nights are likely to be | :25:43. | :25:48.
chilly. That could get some frost and fog. Today, we had that mixture | :25:49. | :25:53.
of sunshine and showers. The bulk of them were towards the west and | :25:54. | :25:57.
north. The breeze has brought a fruit towards the east. Lovely gaps | :25:58. | :26:01.
in between. Lovely blue skies there. You can see the shower was bubbling | :26:02. | :26:07.
on the horizon. A few did manage to avoid them, you won't for long | :26:08. | :26:15.
tonight. There will be some clear spells around, but then showery | :26:16. | :26:18.
rain. More persistent rain to follow through the first part of the night. | :26:19. | :26:23.
It does not last all night. It will clear away again. By the end of the | :26:24. | :26:28.
night, clear intervals. Still some showers. The colder air coming in | :26:29. | :26:33.
behind that rain. Quite chilly even in towns. Rural areas, two or three | :26:34. | :26:40.
degrees. Some spots could get some grass frost. It is a cold start | :26:41. | :26:44.
tomorrow. We hold onto that cold wind through the day tomorrow. There | :26:45. | :26:48.
will be showers around. Hopefully they will ease as we go through the | :26:49. | :26:51.
course of the day. They could be almost anywhere first thing. They | :26:52. | :26:56.
will start to go away in most areas. There is a chance we could see them | :26:57. | :27:01.
continuing towards the north coast and across parts of County Antrim. | :27:02. | :27:05.
So in that event it might not be all that pleasant. Some bright gaps may | :27:06. | :27:14.
be. Highs of 1112 degrees. That cold north-westerly wind. It will feel | :27:15. | :27:19.
quite bitter. Tomorrow night, the breeze easing down. Showers easing | :27:20. | :27:23.
away as well. Clear spells and bells and a chilly night. These are the | :27:24. | :27:29.
temperatures. Wednesday, lighter winds and more sunshine. Fewer | :27:30. | :27:32.
showers. Similar through the rest of the week. That colder nights to | :27:33. | :27:34.
come. -- but colder nights to come. | :27:35. | :27:43. |
