Around 100 workers at the clothing chain Exhibit could lose their jobs

:00:09.:00:13.

as it's been put into administration.

:00:14.:00:16.

The firm says it has been hit by a significant change

:00:17.:00:19.

Our economics and business editor John Campbell has more.

:00:20.:00:25.

This was the Exhibit store in Belfast's Castlecourt

:00:26.:00:28.

It has a total of 14 branches across Northern Ireland.

:00:29.:00:36.

It operated in the intensely competitive world of

:00:37.:00:39.

The HNH Group, which is acting as administrator, said Exhibit had

:00:40.:00:45.

suffered from a general downturn in trading conditions

:00:46.:00:49.

and a significant change in consumer spending patterns.

:00:50.:00:53.

Around 100 jobs are now under threat.

:00:54.:00:57.

These members of staff worried about getting paid.

:00:58.:01:00.

I don't think I'm in the worst position, to be honest.

:01:01.:01:04.

I can get on by that, but our managers have got houses

:01:05.:01:07.

When you've got a kid coming up to Christmas,

:01:08.:01:12.

I am kind of stuck for things like that.

:01:13.:01:21.

I'll just have to look for another job.

:01:22.:01:23.

The number of people employed in retail has actually been

:01:24.:01:26.

rising over the last year, and some new brands have

:01:27.:01:28.

But with more shopping being done online and consumers

:01:29.:01:32.

demanding bargains, it remains a challenging environment.

:01:33.:01:38.

A murder trial has heard that a knife was held to the throat

:01:39.:01:41.

of a man whose body was later found in a bin.

:01:42.:01:45.

The claim was made on the first day of evidence by a woman

:01:46.:01:48.

who is jointly accused of the murder of Owen Creaney

:01:49.:01:50.

Shaunean Boyle is charged along with Stephen Hughes.

:01:51.:01:55.

They're blaming each other for the killing.

:01:56.:01:59.

Half of the ?40 million in funding that was supposed to be spent

:02:00.:02:03.

cutting hospital waiting times was spent elsewhere

:02:04.:02:06.

The figures were given to the Assembly, as BBC

:02:07.:02:10.

It's a topic we've covered extensively on BBC Newsline -

:02:11.:02:15.

patients facing excessive waits for treatment.

:02:16.:02:18.

Last November, the then Health Minister Simon Hamilton announced

:02:19.:02:24.

?40 million would be spent to get some of those waiting lists down.

:02:25.:02:29.

We are well down the line of planning for this.

:02:30.:02:31.

Some people will start to get notifications

:02:32.:02:33.

The appointments and the assessment survey will be going

:02:34.:02:39.

But figures from the current Health Minister

:02:40.:02:42.

show a big chunk of that money went elsewhere.

:02:43.:02:44.

?25 million was spent reducing waiting lists across the board

:02:45.:02:50.

but a further ?18.5 million went to various other areas

:02:51.:02:54.

including GP out-of-hours and independent care homes.

:02:55.:02:57.

Time and time again, cancer waiting times have been

:02:58.:03:00.

We've heard the words "disappointed" from Minister Wells in 2015,

:03:01.:03:08.

"silence" from Minister Hamilton in last October's debate, and,

:03:09.:03:11.

last week, "shock" and "regret" from Minister O'Neill.

:03:12.:03:15.

When, after all those condemnations of the service

:03:16.:03:18.

that they are leading, will they turn from words to action?

:03:19.:03:22.

The 6.7% of women presenting with potential breast cancer

:03:23.:03:27.

with an urgent referral, 6.7% of those are in

:03:28.:03:33.

the Southern Health trust and have had that referral

:03:34.:03:35.

But the DUP largely defended the service.

:03:36.:03:44.

Do I believe that there is a deterioration in

:03:45.:03:46.

I believe we have one of the best systems in the world,

:03:47.:03:55.

The Health Minister questioned some of the statistics in today's debate

:03:56.:03:58.

but admitted there's more work to be done.

:03:59.:04:00.

I have never stood in this House and said they are perfect.

:04:01.:04:05.

There is a recognition right across the board

:04:06.:04:07.

that we need to tackle this and deliver better

:04:08.:04:09.

outcomes for people, that is the job for Government.

:04:10.:04:12.

The fact that not all of the money earmarked

:04:13.:04:15.

for waiting lists was spent where it should be will be of little comfort

:04:16.:04:18.

to those hoping they'll get treated soon.

:04:19.:04:24.

A letter from the Prime Minister in response to one from the First

:04:25.:04:28.

and Deputy First Ministers on Brexit was at the centre of a row today.

:04:29.:04:33.

It was made public on BBC Radio before being

:04:34.:04:35.

Our political correspondent Enda McClafferty reports.

:04:36.:04:40.

For more than six weeks, Stormont has been waiting and waiting

:04:41.:04:43.

Today, we learnt that letter has finally arrived but not everyone

:04:44.:04:50.

I would like you to rule on the issue of whether it is

:04:51.:04:57.

appropriate for important documents that will have influence on debates

:04:58.:05:01.

in this Chamber to be released to the Assembly first, rather

:05:02.:05:05.

than to The Stephen Nolan Show this morning, as was the letter

:05:06.:05:08.

And this is what Steve Aiken was talking about.

:05:09.:05:13.

When the DUP's Gavin Robinson was challenged

:05:14.:05:16.

by the SDLP's Sinead Bradley about the long-awaited letter

:05:17.:05:21.

Gavin, perhaps you could ask for a reply from the letter.

:05:22.:05:26.

We have got a reply from the letter, Sinead.

:05:27.:05:29.

Could you tell the people of Northern Ireland?

:05:30.:05:31.

I don't read your post, Stephen, and I don't read Sinead's so I wouldn't

:05:32.:05:44.

read the letter to the First Minister.

:05:45.:05:46.

That letter from Theresa May arrived at Stormont on Friday but yet no-one

:05:47.:05:49.

told the opposition parties as they debated in the chamber

:05:50.:05:52.

yesterday as to why Northern Ireland should be given special status

:05:53.:05:54.

It definitely isn't good enough, Mr Speaker, to send a letter

:05:55.:05:58.

in August to the British Prime Minister and

:05:59.:06:00.

Little did he know that reply was sitting upstairs on a desk.

:06:01.:06:08.

Today the First Minister sought to clear up the confusion.

:06:09.:06:12.

We then had a discussion with the Secretary of State, but

:06:13.:06:27.

unfortunately for you there is no big mystery in all this.

:06:28.:06:32.

It is very straightforward and as I say it is now

:06:33.:06:35.

Much of it we have heard before, but we now have a commitment

:06:36.:06:41.

in writing from the Prime Minsiter to ensure the continued free

:06:42.:06:43.

movement of people and goods across the island of Ireland.

:06:44.:06:46.

But the opposition parties say they are less than impressed

:06:47.:06:48.

Whatever the circumstances of how this letter landed here at Stormont

:06:49.:06:52.

the fact is that it provides little comfort for those

:06:53.:07:00.

Arlene Foster and Martin McGuinness will be looking for a much more when

:07:01.:07:10.

they meet Theresa May in Downing Street on Monday.

:07:11.:07:13.

The former Alliance Party leader and Justice Minister David Ford has

:07:14.:07:15.

been removed from his role as an elder in his local

:07:16.:07:18.

He clashed with the congregation over his support for

:07:19.:07:21.

For 30 years David Ford was a ruling elder of this rural

:07:22.:07:27.

County Antrim church, but now, although he remains

:07:28.:07:29.

an elder with the wider Presbyterian church,

:07:30.:07:32.

he will no longer be an influential member of Second Donegore.

:07:33.:07:36.

His support for same-sex marriage caused the rift and the congregation

:07:37.:07:38.

It's clear from his written statement that David Ford is upset

:07:39.:07:52.

at the downgrading of his position in the Presbyterian church, and it

:07:53.:07:57.

is also clear when he talks about for a difficult years that the

:07:58.:08:01.

conflict has been going on for some time, in spite of his appeal to the

:08:02.:08:05.

Presbyterian church's highest authority.

:08:06.:08:06.

People arriving for a bowling club were reluctant to comment,

:08:07.:08:09.

but one said the former Alliance leader's stance

:08:10.:08:10.

He had to step down if that was his choice then.

:08:11.:08:16.

Mr Ford says church authorities have failed to promote healing and unity

:08:17.:08:19.

in the church, but he said some members had supported

:08:20.:08:21.

Thousands of householders have received an apology

:08:22.:08:25.

from Belfast City Council for not being told about a change

:08:26.:08:29.

Officials say human error was to blame for letters not

:08:30.:08:35.

This street one of many to have its collection day changed

:08:36.:08:45.

as part of a massive overhaul of bin lorry routes across the city.

:08:46.:08:48.

Residents of this street knew about the change -

:08:49.:08:54.

they'd received a letter from the council telling them.

:08:55.:08:57.

The problem is that not everyone received those letters.

:08:58.:09:04.

It's only because I listened to it on the radio this morning.

:09:05.:09:07.

Then it was on Facebook again yesterday.

:09:08.:09:10.

Did you receive anything from the council?

:09:11.:09:12.

I put ours out yesterday and it wasn't lifted.

:09:13.:09:22.

It's usually on a Monday that they come.

:09:23.:09:27.

This is one of the letters the council sent out through

:09:28.:09:30.

a contractor they had hired to deliver them.

:09:31.:09:33.

Out of 160,000 households, more than 60,000 didn't get one.

:09:34.:09:35.

Hundreds were found dumped in a skip.

:09:36.:09:37.

It has all led to confusion and missed bin collections.

:09:38.:09:43.

Many people turned to social media to complain.

:09:44.:10:00.

We did rely on a contractor to do the letters.

:10:01.:10:03.

All that has fallen below our expectations.

:10:04.:10:08.

And a lot of people didn't get those letters.

:10:09.:10:10.

First and foremost, I want to apologise to

:10:11.:10:12.

We had mitigation in place, but this is much more significant.

:10:13.:10:22.

Now I give more assurance that we will

:10:23.:10:24.

resolve this situation as quickly as possible

:10:25.:10:25.

Anyone still unsure about their bin collection day should check online

:10:26.:10:29.

on the City Council website or phone the council on this number.

:10:30.:10:40.

A French coroner has found that Munster Rugby's head coach,

:10:41.:10:44.

Anthony Foley died after a heart condition which caused a build-up

:10:45.:10:48.

The 42-year-old was found in his hotel room

:10:49.:10:52.

His body will be returned home tomorrow.

:10:53.:10:57.

Football, and in tonight's Danske Bank Premiership game,

:10:58.:11:00.

Cliftonville kept Linfield from topping the league

:11:01.:11:02.

James Knowles put the home side into the lead

:11:03.:11:09.

But Paul Smyth got an equaliser for the Blues just after half time.

:11:10.:11:15.

A few minutes later, Jay Donnelly scored the winner,

:11:16.:11:17.

And in international football, Northern Ireland's under-19 women's

:11:18.:11:25.

team were beaten 4-0 by France at the Ballymena

:11:26.:11:28.

It was their first game of a mini warm-up tournament

:11:29.:11:36.

which is being held at four local venues ahead of next summer's

:11:37.:11:39.

The weather - after a cold wind and some showers today, there's

:11:40.:11:43.

Angie Phillips has the latest forecast.

:11:44.:11:51.

We had a chilly wind blowing today, particularly gusty towards the north

:11:52.:11:59.

and north-east around the coast, where we had a few showers. The

:12:00.:12:04.

breeze to ease a little tonight but still noticeable around the coast

:12:05.:12:08.

and some showers feeding into the coast and the channel, but inland

:12:09.:12:12.

it's drier with clear spells and quite chilly. We could get the odd

:12:13.:12:20.

pocket of grass frost. Winds continue to ease tomorrow, it should

:12:21.:12:24.

be a better day and a lot of dry weather and sunshine but still a few

:12:25.:12:29.

showers, particularly during the morning in the north and east,

:12:30.:12:34.

otherwise a fine start. For many parts of Britain and Ireland, a fair

:12:35.:12:39.

amount of sunshine, lighter wind, a few showers on the west coast of

:12:40.:12:44.

Ireland, the West of Scotland, inland it is mainly fine and sunny,

:12:45.:12:49.

but different if you're under North Sea coats, still affected by the low

:12:50.:12:53.

pressure soda will be showers rolling in, brisk northerly winds

:12:54.:13:01.

making it feel chilly. Here in Northern and then, given to lighter

:13:02.:13:05.

winds, similar temperatures to today that with a bit of sunshine it

:13:06.:13:09.

shouldn't feel as chilly and we're looking at a largely dry story.

:13:10.:13:14.

Through the rest of the week, apart from the risk of some patchy rain in

:13:15.:13:19.

the west on Friday, it's nothing largely dry with some sunshine,

:13:20.:13:23.

clear spells at night mean there's a risk of some and fog.

:13:24.:13:27.
