Mourners at the funeral of a family of five who died in an apparent | :00:09. | :00:12.
murder-suicide have been told by the local priest that it is | :00:13. | :00:14.
The bodies of Alan and Clodagh Hawe, and their sons Liam, Niall, | :00:15. | :00:21.
and Ryan were found at their home in Cavan on Monday. | :00:22. | :00:25.
Kevin Magee reports from County Cavan. | :00:26. | :00:31.
A scene of sadness beyond description and belief. The coffins | :00:32. | :00:38.
of five members of an entire family are carried into a country church | :00:39. | :00:45.
for a requiem mass. Parents Alan and Clodagh Hawe, and Liam, Niall and | :00:46. | :00:50.
Ryan were laid to rest this afternoon at Saint Mary's church. | :00:51. | :00:53.
Hundreds turned up to pay their respects. The priest said that the | :00:54. | :01:00.
families of both parents, Alan and Clodagh, were united in support and | :01:01. | :01:05.
brokenness. And we're sharing the building, burden, will and pain. | :01:06. | :01:09.
Last week, the Hawe family seemed like any other, but | :01:10. | :01:17.

People in this close-knit community have suffered an unimaginable loss. | :01:19. | :01:21.
Now that the funerals have taken place, they are being left to grieve | :01:22. | :01:26.
and trying to make some sense out of what had happened. | :01:27. | :01:29.
A service has been held in northern France to mark the centenary | :01:30. | :01:32.
of the 16th Irish Division's involvement in the | :01:33. | :01:34.
The Secretary of State James Brokenshire and the Republic's | :01:35. | :01:37.
Regional Development Minister, Heather Humphreys | :01:38. | :01:39.
were among those at the commemoration. | :01:40. | :01:40.
The people of this town have never seen anything like this before, | :01:41. | :01:59.
British and Irish soldiers joined honouring the dead at the 16th Irish | :02:00. | :02:04.
division at this tiny village on the Somme. The Royal Irish Regiment and | :02:05. | :02:09.
the Irish Defence Forces mounted the ceremonial cenotaph guard. There are | :02:10. | :02:14.
politicians laid wreaths. Laurel from for the UK. Hundreds gathered | :02:15. | :02:20.
at the granite Celtic cross erected in memory of the day that the 16th | :02:21. | :02:26.
Irish division. The Stormont junior minister of the DUP lead a read, as | :02:27. | :02:30.
the Secretary of State and the Irish Minister for regional development, | :02:31. | :02:35.
Heather Humphreys. It just goes to show the great cooperation there is | :02:36. | :02:39.
between the defence forces in the UK and in Ireland and in Northern | :02:40. | :02:44.
Ireland. And it is great to see as all here today united in remembering | :02:45. | :02:49.
all of those who gave their lives in the First World War, and | :02:50. | :02:51.
particularly at the Battle of the Somme. There is a growing confidence | :02:52. | :02:57.
within nationalism and unionism to recognise some of our shared | :02:58. | :03:02.
history. I am encouraged by the fact that so many nationalists are | :03:03. | :03:06.
willing to recognise the role the ancestors paid in the Great War. | :03:07. | :03:09.
This was a special moment here in this rural French village. When | :03:10. | :03:14.
British and Irish, long divided by history, were united in remembering | :03:15. | :03:17.
the sacrifice of young Irish men who died fighting here at the Somme. | :03:18. | :03:21.
Onto sport, and Northern Ireland are in Prague this weekend to take | :03:22. | :03:23.
on the Czech Republic in their opening | :03:24. | :03:25.
The team's feeling positive after the Euros. | :03:26. | :03:36.
The confidence we have is a collective team is absolutely | :03:37. | :03:40.
fantastic. I think the most important thing that Michael made | :03:41. | :03:46.
clear is that he wanted continuity. So most of the team, basically all | :03:47. | :03:50.
of the team we have, have sort of progressed onto the World Cup from | :03:51. | :03:54.
the Urals. Some have been dropped by injury and a couple of new faces | :03:55. | :03:59.
Broughton, but the major part of the starting 11 is basically the same. | :04:00. | :04:02.
So, are fundamental as the team have not changed, so we are going into | :04:03. | :04:10.
this campaign was probably even more confidence than we did with Euro | :04:11. | :04:12.
campaign. In rugby, Ireland have made a bid | :04:13. | :04:13.
to host the 2023 World Cup, along with France, Italy and South | :04:14. | :04:16.
Africa. World Rugby confirmed that the four | :04:17. | :04:18.
unions submitted their applications Ireland and Italy have never staged | :04:19. | :04:20.
the event although games were played No sunshine today - | :04:21. | :04:24.
but will there be any Here's Angie with | :04:25. | :04:28.
the weekend weather. Hello, good evening. After a | :04:29. | :04:39.
disappointing day today at least the second half of the weekend is | :04:40. | :04:44.
looking a little bit better. But, for this evening, still from rain to | :04:45. | :04:47.
content within places. Where those showers come along, a few could be | :04:48. | :04:52.
heavy. Maybe even a rumble or two of thunder. That theme continues | :04:53. | :04:54.
throughout the night, particularly for part of the north and east. | :04:55. | :04:57.
Again, heavy bursts possible. Eventually drying up towards the | :04:58. | :05:03.
West. It is a mild-mannered, but lows | :05:04. | :05:20.
of 11- at least would like a better day. A lot of dry weather in the | :05:21. | :05:25.
forecast and some sunshine. Probably starting at quite cloudy and done, | :05:26. | :05:27.
particularly in parts of the East, before the rain clears away, and | :05:28. | :05:29.
those skies start to Britain. Also breaking up across the Republic. In | :05:30. | :05:32.
the meantime, that fragmenting band of rain moves away. Eventually down | :05:33. | :05:34.
towards the east and south east, but broke up in between. Temperatures in | :05:35. | :05:37.
the south east should get into the low 20s. It is a better day for | :05:38. | :05:39.
Northern Ireland tomorrow. Still a fair amount of sunshine around in | :05:40. | :05:42.
the afternoon. Although it probably will become quite hazy. Feeling | :05:43. | :05:46.
fairly pleasant. House of 19 towards the South East so maybe a bit | :05:47. | :05:49.
fresher on part of the North Coast. A little bit of a change again | :05:50. | :05:53.
tomorrow night. Another weather front moves in bringing increasingly | :05:54. | :05:57.
wet weather. The isobars are packing in as well, those will become quite | :05:58. | :06:00.
breezy. But once it is clear is not too much rain during the first half | :06:01. | :06:05.
of next week. Variable, often large amounts of cloud. Some bright spells | :06:06. | :06:06.
and it is warming up. In the meantime you can keep | :06:07. | :06:07.
