Hello and welcome to BBC Points West.

:00:09.:00:13.

In the headlines tonight: Concerns about yet another care

:00:13.:00:17.

home. As an investigation begins, families claim they removed their

:00:17.:00:22.

loved ones worried about treatment. Also tonight:

:00:22.:00:25.

It's been like a prison sentence, the brother of Kate Prout whose

:00:25.:00:33.

buried remains were found yesterday speaks about their ordeal.

:00:33.:00:36.

Repealing the hunting ban, a local hunt master says they'd lose if

:00:36.:00:42.

Parliament voted on it now. And the Bristol-based charity

:00:42.:00:44.

getting the X Factor, how these vulnerable children will get a

:00:44.:00:54.
:00:54.:00:56.

Hello. There've been fresh waves of

:00:56.:00:59.

concern tonight about the care of elderly residents at a home in

:00:59.:01:01.

South Gloucestershire and the place is now officially under

:01:01.:01:04.

investigation. We've been contacted by more relatives of people who

:01:04.:01:07.

lived at Oaktree House Care Home in Yate, all of them told us they

:01:08.:01:10.

found standards of care were poor, and any concerns they raised were

:01:11.:01:20.

ignored. At the home itself they say staff

:01:20.:01:24.

were praised in a recent report and they're happy to cooperate with the

:01:24.:01:27.

investigation. Here's James Hassam. They trusted others to look after

:01:27.:01:33.

their loved ones. But they claim they were let down. Yvonne

:01:33.:01:36.

Roebuck's father Martin spent six months at the Oaktree House Care

:01:36.:01:40.

Home. She says she knew him as a proud man who always took care of

:01:41.:01:50.

himself. Used to upset me terribly when I used to going and he hadn't

:01:50.:01:55.

been shaved for two days, just looking very sad and lonely, in a

:01:55.:02:01.

room that was no bigger than a postage stamp. And I felt I let my

:02:01.:02:05.

dad down. Yvonne decided to contact the BBC after learning that Oaktree

:02:05.:02:08.

House is under investigation. This was the letter sent to families of

:02:08.:02:10.

residents this week after concerns were raised with South

:02:11.:02:13.

Gloucestershire Council by a whistleblower regarding care at the

:02:13.:02:18.

home. The new allegations follow minor concerns raised earlier this

:02:18.:02:25.

month as part of a review by the care quality commission. Since then

:02:25.:02:31.

no new patients have been admitted, as a precautionary measure. Yvonne

:02:31.:02:36.

has a folder full of letters. She claims they document the concerns

:02:37.:02:41.

repeatedly raised while her father was at Oaktree House. Concerns that

:02:41.:02:50.

she says fell on deaf ears. That is not good care. Or you get

:02:50.:02:55.

is a sorry, that will not happen again. Them were a lot of people in

:02:55.:03:00.

there that could have relatives, and that is sad -- there were.

:03:00.:03:05.

owners, Four Seasons, say they are working closely with the castle

:03:05.:03:14.

following the anonymous complaint. Earlier this week they say the CQC

:03:14.:03:16.

visited and gave them positive feedback saying they found staff

:03:16.:03:19.

caring and respectful to residents. Tonight Four Seasons said it would

:03:19.:03:23.

be inappropriate for them to speak to us ahead of the outcome of the

:03:23.:03:25.

investigation. The review into the standard of care is expected to

:03:25.:03:34.

last a number of weeks. Police have found drugs valued at

:03:34.:03:37.

more than 1 million in a car on the outskirts of Bristol. A man's

:03:37.:03:40.

been arrested and is in custody after officers stopped a BMW

:03:40.:03:44.

leaving the M5 at the junction for Cribbs Causeway last night. They

:03:44.:03:47.

found 50 kilogrammes of mephedrone in it which was re-classified as a

:03:47.:03:57.
:03:57.:03:57.

Class B illegal substance last year. Within the last hour human remains

:03:57.:04:00.

found at Redmarley in Gloucestershire have been confirmed

:04:00.:04:06.

as those of the murdered farmer's wife, Kate Prout. A pathologist

:04:06.:04:10.

confirmed her identity via dental records. Today her family told us

:04:10.:04:17.

the last four years have felt like a prison sentence.

:04:17.:04:21.

Kate's Prout's family describe the last week as surreal, traumatic. It

:04:21.:04:23.

of course started with the news that Adrian Prout had finally

:04:24.:04:31.

confessed. We were very shocked at first. And we weren't quite certain

:04:32.:04:38.

whether it was the truth or not. Devastated, full of a nation again.

:04:38.:04:41.

The whole thing water began. We have never forgotten her, but we

:04:41.:04:46.

never thought we would actually get to the end, when we would

:04:46.:04:49.

eventually find her. When we got this news we were totally

:04:49.:04:53.

devastated. As the search started to recover Kate's remains,

:04:53.:04:58.

difficult memories came flooding back. Knowing that maybe she would

:04:58.:05:03.

be found, in a way, it has been just as bad as going through the

:05:03.:05:06.

trial, and although we haven't had to go to court every day, the

:05:06.:05:10.

machine you go through at all the feelings you go through, and the

:05:10.:05:16.

anxiety -- the emotion you go through. It ties you out. It has

:05:16.:05:20.

been really just as dramatic. driving force now is the future and

:05:20.:05:23.

Kate's funeral but it's tangible just how harrowing the past four

:05:23.:05:29.

years have been. We have been like prisoners. It has been like a

:05:29.:05:35.

prison sentence for S, having this over our heads -- for us. Now that

:05:35.:05:40.

relief has come. We will never forget her. This has been such a

:05:40.:05:44.

traumatic event in our lives. Hopefully, because we can get her

:05:44.:05:48.

back and say goodbye properly, it will just close the book. She will

:05:48.:05:54.

always be with us. But it will be the right conclusion. We have got

:05:54.:06:00.

to the end. If you don't know, you are always wondering, where she? We

:06:00.:06:05.

know now. There is a real sense of relief

:06:05.:06:09.

this case is coming to its conclusion. Her murder has been a

:06:09.:06:14.

dark cloud hanging over the village for the past four years. A cloud

:06:14.:06:18.

that at last starting to lift. At the church where Kate Prout used to

:06:18.:06:22.

help with the flowers prayers have said every day for her and her

:06:22.:06:26.

family. There is a sense of relief. It is something that has just been

:06:26.:06:29.

there, Nat King in the background the whole time. But now at least

:06:29.:06:38.

they can be some closure -- Nadim. -- nagging. As the police operation

:06:38.:06:41.

came to a close in Redmarley today, there was only one thought on

:06:41.:06:44.

everyone's minds. The woman who disappeared but has now been found.

:06:44.:06:54.
:06:54.:06:58.

You're watching BBC Points West. Still to come: Find out why this

:06:58.:07:05.

man is a true unsung sporting hero. Apart from some light overnight

:07:05.:07:08.

rain on Saturday and Sunday the weekend is looking dry. Quite windy

:07:08.:07:15.

on Saturday, less so on Sunday, I A man from Weston-super-Mare who

:07:16.:07:18.

was part of a criminal gang that produced counterfeit vodka has been

:07:19.:07:23.

jailed today. Michael Matthews, along with six other men from

:07:23.:07:26.

Nottingham, was arrested during raids by Revenue and Customs in

:07:26.:07:32.

2009. Lizzie Way has this report. Miles away from Weston-super-Mare,

:07:32.:07:36.

miles away from anywhere. This was the perfect spot to carry out

:07:36.:07:40.

organised crime. So secluded, customs officers used a helicopter

:07:40.:07:48.

to track them down. This was a highly sophisticated operation. A

:07:48.:07:52.

major breakthrough for us at the end of a surveillance operation.

:07:52.:07:58.

The criminals involved here were making an awful lot of money.

:07:58.:08:01.

100 officers raided the rented farm unit they found a makeshift factory

:08:01.:08:04.

producing potentially lethal illicit vodka on a massive scale.

:08:04.:08:06.

They seized enough industrial alcohol, to manufacture 100,000

:08:06.:08:16.
:08:16.:08:16.

litres of fake vodka. The problem with fake vodka is that it contains

:08:16.:08:19.

industrial and not agricultural alcohol. Things you would find in

:08:19.:08:22.

paint strippers, bleach and cleaning fluids. In excessive

:08:22.:08:27.

quantities these can cause nausea, dizziness, and even blindness in

:08:27.:08:33.

extreme crisis -- extreme cases. Kevin Eddishaw, was the mastermind

:08:33.:08:39.

together with Voicheck Herbst from Poland. Michael Matthews lived here

:08:39.:08:43.

on Standley grave in Weston-super- Mare. He was a prince and it was

:08:43.:08:47.

his job to make the counterfeit labels and boxes -- a printer. They

:08:47.:08:50.

were shipped out of the warehouse in Leicestershire. Michael James

:08:50.:08:53.

Matthews was sentenced to 18 months in prison. A plot to make money

:08:53.:09:03.

from selling vodka on the cheap has now cost him an awful lot.

:09:03.:09:06.

Tolls for cars crossing the Severn Bridge are to rise to 6. That's an

:09:06.:09:11.

increase of 30 pence and will come into effect on January the 1st.

:09:11.:09:15.

Other vehicles will also see a rise in price. A spokesman for the

:09:15.:09:20.

Severn River Crossing said it was in line with the Retail Price Index.

:09:20.:09:24.

But campaigners against the tolls have called for a price freeze.

:09:24.:09:27.

Protestors camped out on Bristol's historic College Green say they'll

:09:27.:09:32.

listen to people who disagree with their tactics. Occupy Bristol say

:09:32.:09:39.

they're prepared to discuss the possibility of moving off the land.

:09:39.:09:41.

But they're also building structures on the site and have

:09:41.:09:50.

published a Christmas wish list. Over the past few weeks the camp

:09:50.:09:55.

has grown bigger. It has grown much more organised. There are semi-

:09:55.:09:59.

permanent structures and walkways throughout the site. There is also

:09:59.:10:04.

a suggestion protesters may be prepared to move on. The group is

:10:04.:10:08.

proposing to hold a public meeting to discuss how they could continue

:10:08.:10:13.

their protest without being pampered on College Green. We are

:10:13.:10:17.

aware of an increasingly vocal minority of people who are

:10:17.:10:22.

questioning our tactic here. And so we really wanted to listen to those

:10:22.:10:27.

voices, and just discuss ways in which we can continue to get our

:10:27.:10:32.

message out there and build our movement without camping on College

:10:32.:10:36.

Green. It is really not about this piece of grass, it is a much bigger

:10:36.:10:46.

issue than that. But while some seem in favour of moving on others

:10:46.:10:49.

want to stay put. The group's official spokesman told us that he

:10:49.:10:52.

plans to spend Christmas on the site, and there is an Occupy

:10:52.:10:55.

Bristol Christmas wish list asking for inflatable beds, welly liners

:10:55.:10:58.

and a green power generator. That has been a great bit of publicity

:10:58.:11:02.

for us. We have seen a real increase in donations since that

:11:02.:11:04.

came to national attention. The renewable energy stuff would be

:11:04.:11:11.

good. And of course, warm socks. But not everyone wants them to get

:11:11.:11:16.

so comfortable. Bristolian are increasingly saying we understand

:11:16.:11:19.

what you're saying, we identify, we would like to see change as well

:11:19.:11:23.

but we are not convinced this is the best way -- best way to bring

:11:23.:11:28.

about change. This is taking the form of a permanent encampment with

:11:28.:11:32.

permanent structures, not just tense. On what is public space in

:11:32.:11:35.

the middle of Bristol. This belongs to everybody in the City, it should

:11:35.:11:39.

be enjoyed by everybody in the City and should be taken over by

:11:39.:11:43.

actually quite small number of people who want to use it for their

:11:43.:11:47.

own purposes. It is the tactics rather than the message that are

:11:47.:11:51.

causing debate, but debate is what the protestors were after.

:11:51.:11:54.

Members of hunts across the West have admitted that they see no

:11:54.:11:59.

immediate chance of the Hunting Act being repealed. It was brought in

:11:59.:12:02.

six years ago and the Conservatives have always promised to get rid of

:12:02.:12:07.

it. But we've learned that even pro-hunt politicians are keen to

:12:07.:12:11.

put the debate on ice, as they fear losing the vote now. Clinton Rogers

:12:11.:12:20.

has the story. They banned hunting with hounds in

:12:20.:12:30.

2005. This is the Devon and Somerset Staghounds in 2011. Now to

:12:30.:12:34.

an outsider it may seem that in six years nothing has changed. The

:12:34.:12:38.

hunters will tell you they are working perfectly properly within

:12:38.:12:42.

the exceptions of the new law. For instance, working with two hounds

:12:42.:12:47.

rather than a pack. But those who spend their working lives

:12:47.:12:52.

travelling around monitoring Hunts state -- say that since 2005 there

:12:52.:12:57.

have been many breaches of that and to act across the region, they keep

:12:57.:13:04.

producing video footage to prove their point. These pictures of the

:13:04.:13:09.

Quantocks Hunt did lead to a prosecution but that is rare.

:13:09.:13:13.

Officially every police force will tell you they enforce every law.

:13:13.:13:18.

Privately, senior officers will say they have better things to do. And

:13:18.:13:23.

figures we have obtained would seem to support that stance. Avon and

:13:23.:13:26.

Somerset police have brought just three prosecutions under the

:13:26.:13:36.

hunting at. -- hunting Act. We have our suspicions. The National

:13:36.:13:39.

Wildlife crime Unit have pointed out there have been many complaints

:13:39.:13:43.

about illegal hunting in this area, and yet we still do not see much

:13:43.:13:48.

police activity. We would like to see more in this area, and many

:13:48.:13:53.

others around the country. Politically, they have certainly

:13:53.:13:58.

gone cold on pushing for a repeal of the hunting Act. Something the

:13:58.:14:02.

Conservatives have always promised, but backbenchers are not so sure

:14:02.:14:06.

that a vote now would be a good thing. We haven't got parliamentary

:14:06.:14:11.

time to do that at the moment. The economy and social care and the NHS

:14:11.:14:14.

and help and everything is further up the agenda than hunting and we

:14:14.:14:18.

have got to make priorities. Privately there is also a feeling

:14:18.:14:23.

among hunters that right now this is a fight they would not win.

:14:23.:14:28.

haven't got a Tory government, it is a coalition government. The vote

:14:28.:14:32.

would count -- the band to go wrong for us. Do you think one day you

:14:32.:14:37.

will get a vote and it will be repealed, or is it a lost cause?

:14:37.:14:41.

I didn't believe we would get a vote or repeal I probably wouldn't

:14:41.:14:45.

be standing here today. One thinks it seems certain, it

:14:45.:14:51.

will not be happening any time soon. -- one thing seems certain.

:14:51.:14:54.

And on Sunday's Politics Show, Steve Le Fevre will be speaking

:14:54.:15:00.

with hunter and Conservative MP for North Wiltshire, James Gray. That's

:15:00.:15:05.

on BBC 1 from noon. Now to sport and the new keeper

:15:05.:15:08.

keeping clean sheets at Swindon. And tears of joy as we name the BBC

:15:08.:15:13.

West Sports Unsung Hero. David, it's always a great moment this,

:15:13.:15:23.
:15:23.:15:24.

isn't it? Every year there are so many worthy candidates. Each an

:15:24.:15:28.

unsung hero, but we had to chose just one. Stay with us to find out

:15:28.:15:31.

who that is. But first to football and a young goalkeeper who's make

:15:32.:15:34.

quite an impression since arriving at Swindon just six weeks ago. He's

:15:35.:15:37.

20-year-old Wes Foderingham and he's only let in one goal in the

:15:38.:15:41.

last six games. Geoff Twentyman went in search of the secret of his

:15:41.:15:51.
:15:51.:15:53.

I didn't start of his goalkeeper, a study of as a striker but once I

:15:53.:15:56.

went in goal I did not look back. I had a knack for keeping the ball

:15:56.:16:01.

out of the net. It is a very individual position. You are part

:16:01.:16:08.

of the team, but if you make a mistake, you are a neurone. -- you

:16:08.:16:12.

are on the you're alone. Before arriving on loan from

:16:12.:16:14.

Championship side Crystal Palace Wes Foderingham had only

:16:14.:16:16.

experienced non-league football. Six games into his professional

:16:16.:16:19.

career he's making it all look rather easy. To have conceded only

:16:19.:16:22.

one goal in 540 minutes is rather impressive. But he's happy to tip

:16:22.:16:28.

the praise round the post. You are making it look a bit easy, aren't

:16:28.:16:33.

you? The back for help me out quite a lot. Really solid. They have

:16:33.:16:38.

helped me out with the majority. It is down to them as well. Which

:16:38.:16:43.

goalkeepers did UCATT over the years when you grow up -- did you

:16:43.:16:49.

look at? David James was my idol growing up. Simply because of the

:16:49.:16:53.

fact he made a lot of mistakes, obviously, but he comes back from

:16:53.:16:57.

his mistakes, his mental toughness is fantastic. To be a goalkeeper

:16:57.:17:02.

you have got to be mentally strong because it is a very individual

:17:02.:17:06.

position, lowly position. Are you the number one keeper now? I would

:17:07.:17:12.

like to say I am the No. 1 goalkeeper, but I want to continue

:17:12.:17:20.

to play well and keep on the team. Do you set a clean sheet target?

:17:20.:17:25.

I don't personally. I don't know if other keepers do. At his work on my

:17:25.:17:29.

game and improve and try and give good performances.

:17:29.:17:33.

The crossbar is eight feet off the ground, from that to post to that

:17:33.:17:37.

post, eight yards apart. Off to a fantastic start between the posts.

:17:37.:17:41.

Just goes to show, having a good goalkeeper is equally important as

:17:41.:17:46.

having a good striker for top -- a good striker.

:17:46.:17:50.

And tomorrow Wes will be in goal for the home game against Aldershot.

:17:50.:17:53.

All of the weekend fixtures are on the screen now.

:17:53.:17:56.

Bristol City's recent improvement will be fully tested by top of the

:17:56.:18:00.

table Southampton at Ashton Gate. City have won three and drawn one

:18:00.:18:04.

of their last four games. The club are expecting their biggest crowd

:18:04.:18:09.

of the season for the visit of the Championship leaders.

:18:09.:18:12.

And that will please the owner of the club Stephen Lansdown who will

:18:12.:18:15.

be live on the region's football phone-in with Geoff on BBC Radio

:18:15.:18:20.

Bristol from 7 o'clock. In rugby, Bath kick-off in an

:18:20.:18:24.

hour's time away at Worcester. Former England captain Lewis Moody

:18:24.:18:27.

will skipper Bath tonight, while prop Mark Lilley will play at

:18:27.:18:32.

hooker to solve an injury crisis in the front-row. Gloucester have Olly

:18:32.:18:35.

Morgan and Luke Narraway back for their home match with Leicester

:18:35.:18:41.

tomorrow. For the last 40 years Peter

:18:41.:18:44.

Thatcher has run the Bath Judo club. Many thousands of youngsters have

:18:44.:18:49.

benefited over the years. Well now his efforts have been recognised

:18:49.:18:57.

and he has been named the BBC West Sports Unsung Hero for 2011. This

:18:57.:19:00.

is an annual award for people who gives up their time for free so

:19:00.:19:03.

others can enjoy their sport. I went to meet this incredible man at

:19:03.:19:09.

a recent session at the club and present him with the award.

:19:09.:19:15.

So many hours and so many thousands of pupils. Peter Thatcher is known

:19:15.:19:18.

throughout the city for his relentless efforts and boundless

:19:18.:19:25.

enthusiasm. There is a lot of pride, a lot of nice feeling about making

:19:25.:19:31.

other people good. As I were a couple on Saturday morning, tired,

:19:32.:19:35.

my youngest one is saying, we have got to go there, Peter will be

:19:35.:19:39.

there already. He is there half-an- hour before the start, half-an-hour

:19:39.:19:45.

after the finish. He is just constant. Confidence and self-

:19:45.:19:50.

esteem, definitely. And discipline. And hopefully they will carry it

:19:50.:19:57.

through with them into their adult life. 40, 50 kits. He just has to

:19:57.:20:01.

make a noise and you can hear a pin drop. All the parents of thinking,

:20:01.:20:07.

why can't we do that? We have got three at home and he has got 50.

:20:07.:20:10.

He has taught judo for more than 40 years, at least three sessions a

:20:10.:20:15.

week here in Larkhall, and 12 sessions at schools throughout the

:20:15.:20:18.

city. He taught the parents and grandparents of some of the

:20:18.:20:22.
