A paedophile who groomed girls from Somerset as young

as nine, has been jailed for four years.

62`year`old Paul Francis kept a diary of his assaults.

And he was only caught when one of his victims told a PCSO

about what was going on during a routine school visit.

Paul Francis was first convicted back in 1973.

And he's been targetting and assaulting very young girls

The paedophile has already served prison sentences

He only moved to Yeovil last year but

by March he'd enticed a 10`year`old and her 9`year`old friend back to

his flat where he carried out a number of sexual offences.

The grooming came to light during a routine police visit to

The 10`year`old told a PCSO, "I go to see a man for singing

"lessons and he writes to me and I have got his letters in my case."

When the police raided his home they found a diary

It was the diary which led to his guilty pleas.

The visits with the young girls, he would proceed to write what had

occurred during those visits and he would identify what had

happened and what he wished to happen in the future.

Francis would hand out hand written posters like this one to children

on their way to and from school inviting them to come

He would say how much he wanted to hug and kiss them

and then warn them to keep the letters away from prying eyes.

Before Francis moved to Yeovil he'd lived in Williton and the police are

appealing for anyone in the area who might have been approached

We found documents suggesting he was employing the same methods

when he was in West Williton and Watchet and I would appeal to anyone

that has had communication with Paul Francis to come forward to speak to

The court heard that Francis's last conviction had been in 2005 and his

place on the sex offenders register had run out in 2010 and so he had

Jailing Francis for four years, Judge Mott told him, "You are

"clearly dangerous and there is a serious risk of future offending.

"I give great credit to the 10`year`old who came forward."

On his eventual release, Francis will be placed on the sex offenders

Air quality around Avonmouth in Bristol will be tested following

complaints from residents that their health is being put at risk.

The new monitoring will be for three months, and some local

In a statement, the Environment Agency said it has already set up

But it needs "continuous assessment over a minimum of three months".

Bristol City Council said it "takes very seriously the concerns

raised "by residents" and " will begin monitoring

the week commencing "August 18th", also for three months.

Cheltenham Borough Council used a warrant today to gain access to

the house with a Banksy mural painted on one of the walls.

Earlier this week, hoardings around Spybooth were taken

down and holes were drilled into the corners of the artwork.

Today the council says a man was questioned

An art restorer from London says he thinks the Banksy,

which was previously attacked by vandals, can still be saved.

It has been sprayed with different kinds of paint.

They can be safely removed from the image.
