Good evening. They're facing a repair bill running into millions.

Today, council concerns about who's going to pay for the damage caused

by winter storms were taken straight to the Welsh Government. The Natural

Resources Minister was visiting Deganwy on the North Wales Coast.

But Alun Davies stopped short of announcing any extra money for

repairs. Roger Pinney reports. Here, for once, a relatively calm

day, but on Deganwy prom, plenty of evidence caused by the storms. Here

to see it, the Welsh Government environment minister. Local

politicians were quick to get to the point. Worldview announce further

funding? We have announced funding for this financial year. -- will you

announce further funding? ?2 million, with respect... The county

council knows the situation. The damage has been put up ?5 million.

Here local people know where they think the money should come from.

Who should pay for it? I believe the Government should pay for it, the

Government. They find money for other things. But Wales or

Westminster? Still the big question remains. Minister, it is not just

here. There is damage right around the Welsh coastline. Is there going

to be any money over and above the money you have already announced? We

have already announced money for emergency repairs and that is

happening at the moment. Engineers are working on the coastal defences.

We are down in a situation whereby we are assessing this damage for the

long-term. Our reserves will not cover this devastation. And it is

not just here. Up and down Wales, councils are beginning to count the

cost of the damage. Pictures of storms lashing the Brom in

Aberystwyth have appeared in the media. Here they are already looking

at a bill in excess of ?1.5 million. In Pembrokeshire, the authority

estimates at least half ?1 million of damage has been done. And that is

unlikely to be the end of it. This business of who pays the bills is

turning into a political row. Up until today the wealth of mid have

promised ?3 million, but should the UK Government help, too? -- up until

today the Welsh Government have promised ?3 million. In England, the

UK Government today pledged an additional ?30 million added to the

?130 million already set aside for local authorities there. Devolved or

not, the Welsh and UK governments are known to be talking but the

storms keep rolling in. Police are carrying out

investigations at a school in Cardiff whose deputy head teacher,

Gareth Williams, has already admitted hiding a camera to film

children in a toilet. Those offences took place elsewhere - now

detectives have been given full access to Ysgol Glantaf, where he

worked. The family of a prisoner at Parc

Prison in Bridgend were wrongly informed that he had died. G4S, the

security firm which runs the prison, says it will apologise. The incident

follows the death of a different prisoner at the start of the month.

A man from Tenby has been found guilty of murdering a woman, after

stabbing her 40 times. Joanna Hall survived for three weeks after the

attack, which happened at her home last March. During that time, she

was able to tell the police what had happened. Miss Hall's family

described Williams as an "evil monster". Cemlyn Davies reports.

She is a murder victim who was able to tell the police who was

responsible, and to date Joanna Hall's killer was wrought to

justice. Afterwards, the statement was read out on behalf of her

family. Nothing will bring her back or change the heinous things he did

to her. Unfortunately, we now have to live with that for the rest of

our lives. Steven Williams is an evil monster who needs to be locked

away so that he can hurt no one else in the same way as Joe. Joanna Hall

died three weeks after she was stabbed by even Williams at her home

in Tenby. The pair were known to each other and the court heard they

had slept together several times. Steven Williams had never denied

being with Joanna Hall that night but the self-confessed alcoholic

said he had popped out to buy whiskey from a local supermarket

when the attack happened and that by the time he returned to the flat,

Miss Hall was lying on the floor, bleeding excessively. But the

prosecution argued this CCTV footage shows there was already a

significant amount of blood and Williams' clothes when he went to

the shop. The jury was also told his fingerprints were found on a knife

in the apartment, and the court heard Williams said to miss call,

will you just die? -- said to Joanna Hall. These moment shows when the

paramedics arrived, with Williams in handcuffs. It took the jury eight

and a quarter hours to reach a majority verdict, with ten jurors

agreed Steven Williams was guilty of murder. Steven Williams showed no

emotion as the verdict was delivered. In the public gallery,

Joanna Hall's mother and sister, in court throughout the trial, burst

into tears, and other members of her family embraced as they left court.

Steven Williams will be sentenced either tomorrow or on Monday.

A review is under way into the Cardiff Airport Shuttle Bus after it

was revealed that the bus has carried, on average, fewer than four

passengers per journey since its launch last August. The service,

funded by the Welsh Government and the Vale of Glamorgan Council was

used by around 2,800 people every week up until January this year.

466,000 people listen to BBC Radio Wales every week, according to the

latest figures. That's slightly down on the previous three months, but

30,000 more than this time last year. 140,000 people listen to Radio

Cymru every week. Former Swansea City manager Michael

Laudrup says he's taking legal advice after being sacked by the

club. He issued a statement, just before his successor Garry Monk's

first press conference. The club captain, who's now been made head

coach, says he would do anything to help the club. He also says he'd

like to do the job on a permanent basis.

As an ultimate aim it would always be great to manage this club. It

would be one of the proudest things I could do. OK, it has not happened

the way I thought it would, but I could not be proud of. But the focus

is on the players and the game this weekend.

The weather. I think we have seen enough rain to

last us a lifetime, and there is more on the way. A weather warning

in force, an amber warning for strong wind and gales and yellow for

rain. More rain to come tonight. A bit of snow on high ground in mid

Wales and the North. The wind is picking up tonight as well with

temperatures staying above freezing. Tomorrow morning it is an improving

story. The rain and hill snow will disappear and the whole country will

become dry and bright. Some sunshine for a change. Across the West of the

UK, warnings in force across southern counties of England but the

weather will improve as we go through the day, turning drier and

brighter. Some sunshine and just a few showers. 3pm in Wales tomorrow

afternoon, still some dry weather and sunshine in the North East, but

a few showers will spread from the South West mid to late afternoon and

you will notice the wind picking up as well. Tomorrow evening turning

wet and windy. Another spell of heavy rain clearing to showers after

midnight. Saturday will continue very windy. The South and West coast

will bear the brunt of the gales. Plenty of rain and heavy showers.

Snow on the mountains. So Saturday's chart looks very stormy.

A deep area of low pressure centred over Ireland but tides not quite so

high this weekend. Nevertheless, some big waves are expected,

particularly in the South West, with the risk of further flooding on

parts of the coast, especially in Pembrokeshire. It remains unsettled

on Sunday. Mr Monday is, but it looks like low-pressure Wilson bring

another -- Monday looks, but it looks like low-pressure will bring
