Good evening. Around 400 jobs could be saved at the troubled Murco Oil | :00:26. | :00:32.
Refinery in Milford Haven after a breakthrough in negotiations. It's | :00:33. | :00:35.
been confirmed today that the sale of the plant has been agreed in | :00:36. | :00:39.
principle. The buyer for the site, which faces closure, is understood | :00:40. | :00:42.
to be the oil entrepreneur Gary Klesch. Carwyn Jones reports. It's | :00:43. | :00:44.
been a major employer in Pembrokeshire for more than 40 | :00:45. | :00:47.
years, but the recent fortunes of the Murco Oil refinery in Milford | :00:48. | :00:51.
Haven have cast serious doubt over its long term future. The plant has | :00:52. | :00:54.
been operating at a loss, leading owners Murphy Oil to find a buyer | :00:55. | :00:58.
for the site. A potential ?300 million deal broke down in April. | :00:59. | :01:01.
But today, news of a breakthrough, as the sale of the site has now been | :01:02. | :01:05.
agreed in principle. Still some significant work to be done but it | :01:06. | :01:07.
was really positive that yesterday they were able to reach an agreement | :01:08. | :01:12.
in principle for the sale process to go forward. We know sales like this | :01:13. | :01:19.
which are very complicated can fall through at a late stage. But having | :01:20. | :01:24.
spoken to the buyer and the seller I am optimistic. The buyer is thought | :01:25. | :01:30.
to be Gary Klesch, head of a global industrial business, specialising in | :01:31. | :01:33.
the production and trading of oil. It will take on a Murco Refinery | :01:34. | :01:36.
that has the potential to produce 135,000 barrels a day, but which is | :01:37. | :01:40.
currently having to recycle oil products just to keep it | :01:41. | :01:48.
operational. This is extremely encouraging news. Not least because | :01:49. | :01:53.
the group mentioned in the purchase did buy a refinery near Hamburg in | :01:54. | :01:59.
2010 and therefore they know the refinery business and how difficult | :02:00. | :02:05.
it is to make money in it. I think there is some realism probably on | :02:06. | :02:09.
that side of the table. A final agreement on the sale of the Murco | :02:10. | :02:12.
plant has yet to be confirmed, but there's renewed optimism in Milford | :02:13. | :02:16.
Haven this evening for the future of this Refinery and for the 400 people | :02:17. | :02:19.
who work here Imams should be able to speak English before they are | :02:20. | :02:23.
allowed to teach in Mosques in the UK, according Conservative Assembly | :02:24. | :02:29.
Member Mohammad Ashghar. Ahead of the royal visit to Wales tomorrow, | :02:30. | :02:32.
the former Welsh Secretary Peter Hain says Prince Charles encouraged | :02:33. | :02:35.
him to press the Welsh government to introduce complementary medicine on | :02:36. | :02:38.
the NHS. The Neath MP is one of three former cabinet ministers who | :02:39. | :02:41.
have revealed how the Prince tried to influence government policies. | :02:42. | :02:44.
Here's our political reporter, Daniel Davies In his job, he talks | :02:45. | :02:47.
to a lot of people, including politicians. Peter Hain and Prince | :02:48. | :02:50.
Charles disagreed on some things, like hunting. But both of them | :02:51. | :02:53.
supported the use of complementary medicine, things like osteopathy and | :02:54. | :02:56.
acupuncture, on the NHS. Mr Hain ran a pilot project when he was Northern | :02:57. | :02:59.
Ireland Secretary. He had been constantly frustrated by his | :03:00. | :03:04.
inability to confirm to any health ministers anywhere that it was a | :03:05. | :03:09.
good idea so he phoned me unique from this point of view and being | :03:10. | :03:13.
somebody who actually agreed with him on this. When he learned about | :03:14. | :03:20.
this he was extremely enthusiastic and tried to persuade the Welsh | :03:21. | :03:24.
Government to do the same thing and the government in Whitehall to do | :03:25. | :03:28.
the same thing for England, I had the same experience myself in being | :03:29. | :03:32.
unsuccessful. A spokeswoman for the Prince of Wales's said he seeks to | :03:33. | :03:35.
help people and communities in whatever way he can, but declined to | :03:36. | :03:38.
comment on private conversations. However, some think his private | :03:39. | :03:40.
conversations with government minister should be a public matter. | :03:41. | :03:46.
What we want is the utmost transparency. If he has been writing | :03:47. | :03:50.
letters and trying to influence ministers we want to know about it | :03:51. | :03:56.
and see the documentation. In an open and fiercest dietary that it's | :03:57. | :03:59.
what we want. My own personal point of view is that the monarchy should | :04:00. | :04:04.
keep out of this. Prince Charles's personal views have attracted | :04:05. | :04:07.
attention in the past. Most recently when he apparently compared Vladimir | :04:08. | :04:10.
Putin to the Nazis. Now it's not just his views that are under | :04:11. | :04:14.
spotlight, but who he's sharing them with. Now the weather. Good evening. | :04:15. | :04:23.
We have a lot of fine and settled weather forecast for the coming | :04:24. | :04:28.
days. Generally fine and settle but with showers coming through in the | :04:29. | :04:33.
afternoon. Temperatures in Engel figures in many spots as we get | :04:34. | :04:37.
through the night tonight. A dry start to the working week for many | :04:38. | :04:43.
of us tomorrow. There could be a few light showers but not all of us will | :04:44. | :04:51.
see them. Some fine weather in the forecast is how it looks right | :04:52. | :04:54.
through until the end of the week with a lot of dry and fine weather. | :04:55. | :05:00.
That is all from now. Goodbye. Good evening. For some of us, there | :05:01. | :05:11.
has been some sunshine but we have had showers around. Heavier ones | :05:12. | :05:15.
during the morning. Starting to lose | :05:16. | :05:16. |
