A former Labour adviser says some of the reaction to the sacking

of environment minister Alun Davies has been disproportionate.

Mr Davies was axed from his post last week for trying

to obtain private personal details about opposition politicians.

But David Taylor, who worked for Peter Hain

when he was Welsh Secretary, has questioned the outrage vented.

The opposition has more questions they want answered about the events

I think we need an independent Inquiry chaired by an independent

judge to look at all this and make sure we have the confidence that

this is not part of a whiter abuse of the system. I hope that is what

it is going to prove. Alun Davies asked civil servants how

the code and how to respond. There are calls for a more

just sacked him without any reason. It is in his gift. But he made

everything public. You can not be more open than that.

from the two men, the questions keep coming from the opposition

about whether Mr Jones was right to give Alun Davies a second chance.
