Stephen Crabb becomes the new Secretary of State for Wales

:00:00.:00:07.

saying he'll work to ensure the country is at the forefront

:00:08.:00:10.

thank you very much. I'm looking forward to getting on with the job

:00:11.:00:23.

with the job right now.

:00:24.:00:27.

Brought up by a single parent on this council estate, he's a keen

:00:28.:00:30.

Tonight we'll be talking to him, finding out what he plans to do

:00:31.:00:35.

A former youth worker jailed for child sex offences.

:00:36.:00:45.

Pembrokeshire council is accused of not doing enough to stop him.

:00:46.:00:52.

There were so many good, hard-working, professional people

:00:53.:00:54.

I cannot understand why we weren't listened to.

:00:55.:01:05.

Could space tourists soon be lifting off from Llanbedr?

:01:06.:01:08.

These children are healthy but a report says too many pregnant

:01:09.:01:10.

women are putting their babies lives at risk.

:01:11.:01:15.

I did feel very guilty smoking whilst pregnant,

:01:16.:01:18.

As big a major blow ahead of the Commonwealth Games for the Welsh

:01:19.:01:34.

team. Helen Jenkins is forced to withdraw because of injury.

:01:35.:01:41.

Stephen Crabb is the new Secretary of State for Wales.

:01:42.:01:44.

Mr Crabb, who's the MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire,

:01:45.:01:46.

takes over from David Jones, who was sacked in a wide-ranging reshuffle

:01:47.:01:49.

We'll be speaking live to the new Welsh Secretary shortly.

:01:50.:01:52.

But first our parliamentary correspondent David Cornock has been

:01:53.:01:55.

following all the developments and joins us now from Westminster.

:01:56.:01:57.

His job is to be the voice of Wales in the UK Government and the voice

:01:58.:02:08.

of the UK Government in Wales. In a moment, he will tell me how he will

:02:09.:02:13.

use that the voice but first, a look at what today's reshuffle means for

:02:14.:02:14.

Wales. Stephen Crabb knew

:02:15.:02:17.

his summons to Downing Street this He emerged half

:02:18.:02:21.

an hour later to tell the waiting cameras he was delighted to be David

:02:22.:02:24.

Cameron's new Welsh Secretary. He's 41,

:02:25.:02:31.

married with a son and daughter. He was born in Inverness but he

:02:32.:02:34.

and his two brothers were raised by their single mother in

:02:35.:02:40.

a council house in Haverfordwest. He went to school there too

:02:41.:02:43.

before Bristol University And he's quite the sportsman,

:02:44.:02:45.

running the London Marathon three times and playing rugby

:02:46.:02:52.

for the parliamentary team. He's also been co-steering across

:02:53.:03:06.

the Pembroke should coast. His background is unusual for a

:03:07.:03:07.

His background is unusual for a Conservative MP.

:03:08.:03:12.

Some busineses in Pembrokeshire think that's a bonus.

:03:13.:03:14.

I think it's important and it gives credibility because a key aspect of

:03:15.:03:20.

his role is to improve relations for the Welsh Assembly government, to

:03:21.:03:23.

ensure that they work together as effectively as possible to make sure

:03:24.:03:31.

that more happens at the coal face, rather than gets lost in the

:03:32.:03:33.

lost in the process.

:03:34.:03:35.

Under his predecessor David Jones, there were tensions between

:03:36.:03:38.

the coalition at Westminster and the Labour government in Cardiff.

:03:39.:03:40.

But at question time in the senedd, the First Minister gave

:03:41.:03:43.

the impression he could do business with the new Secretary of State.

:03:44.:03:49.

We do very much welcome a new approach, a new attitude. I do have

:03:50.:03:56.

two say that I know my colleagues have dealt with the new Secretary of

:03:57.:03:59.

State in the past and found him to be pragmatic and reasonable.

:04:00.:04:05.

Mr Crabb's old job as a junior Wales Office minister will be filled

:04:06.:04:08.

by the Welsh-speaking Vale of Glamorgan MP Alun Cairns.

:04:09.:04:10.

Promotion for him but it does mean the Wales Office no

:04:11.:04:13.

longer has a North Wales MP in its ministerial team.

:04:14.:04:21.

Your predecessor fell at the Welsh Labour government and Welsh

:04:22.:04:28.

Conservatives, you have got some pretty big bridges to build, haven't

:04:29.:04:32.

you? I am clear the job of secretary of state for Wales is to work

:04:33.:04:36.

positively and constructively with government departments here in

:04:37.:04:38.

London but also across the devolution divide in Cardiff and I

:04:39.:04:42.

have been doing the junior Wales Office job, I've enjoyed

:04:43.:04:47.

constructive racial ships with ministers in the Welsh government

:04:48.:04:50.

and look forward to continuing that in this new role of Secretary of

:04:51.:04:54.

State. After devolution, the Welsh Secretary's job is somewhat

:04:55.:04:59.

meaningless. Those are your own words. You are dragging up an

:05:00.:05:02.

article from years ago, seven years ago. Written at a time when Labour

:05:03.:05:08.

governments had reduced the job of Secretary of State for Wales to less

:05:09.:05:11.

than a part-time job. This government, David Cameron, has

:05:12.:05:17.

reinvigorated the office and the Department of the Welsh office. He

:05:18.:05:19.

is very clear the Wales Office should be playing in economic role,

:05:20.:05:24.

helping to bring in new infrastructure into Wales, attract

:05:25.:05:27.

new business investment into Wales and that's I hope to continue. At

:05:28.:05:32.

that time, you argued for the Welsh job to be merged with Scottish and

:05:33.:05:36.

Northern Irish counterparts. What was it about the Prime Minister's

:05:37.:05:40.

generous offer which changed your mind? What the government has done

:05:41.:05:44.

in the last four years is restore the status of the Wales Office and

:05:45.:05:49.

the position of Secretary of State, so it can play constructive pivotal

:05:50.:05:53.

role in the devolution settlement but also, working with government

:05:54.:05:56.

departments here and across Cardiff with Welsh government, to see big

:05:57.:06:04.

projects like the new nuclear power station in Anglesey, the new prison

:06:05.:06:07.

in North Wales, tangible achievements which has been achieved

:06:08.:06:11.

partly because of the existence and proactive approach of the Wales

:06:12.:06:15.

Office. One point of trivia to finish on. You are the first

:06:16.:06:20.

Conservative minister with a beard for more than 100 years. I didn't

:06:21.:06:26.

know those facts from history for that one of my colleagues said today

:06:27.:06:30.

he thought a Cabinet member in the 1980s came back from a summer

:06:31.:06:36.

holidays with a beard but didn't last 24-hour was. You have your

:06:37.:06:39.

place in the history books. If you're wondering about Cabinet

:06:40.:06:43.

minister was in 1905, it was the fourth Earl of Onslow. You will

:06:44.:06:49.

thank me when you win that pub quiz. We definitely will, David, thank you

:06:50.:06:51.

very much indeed. The Children's Commissioner

:06:52.:07:11.

for Wales has told the BBC that he is going to investigate the way in

:07:12.:07:13.

which Pembrokeshire County Council dealt with allegations against

:07:14.:07:16.

former council youth worker Mik Smith, who was recently jailed for

:07:17.:07:18.

six years for child sex offences. BBC Wales's Week In Week Out

:07:19.:07:21.

programme tonight investigates the way in which the council dealt

:07:22.:07:23.

with complaints about Smith, and asks if more could have been

:07:24.:07:26.

done to prevent his abuse. For years he held a position

:07:27.:07:28.

of trust with children. Mick Smith, senior youth worker

Council should resign because Smith As far as I can see, if people had

:07:45.:07:46.

taken the time and the care to do their jobs properly, what we've been

:07:47.:07:52.

through may have been avoided. In 2005, Smith was investigated

:07:53.:07:55.

by the council and police, when seven of his colleagues said they

:07:56.:08:00.

were concerned about his behaviour. Six out of 11 allegations

:08:01.:08:03.

against him were upheld but Smith was allowed to stay

:08:04.:08:05.

in his job with a verbal warning. One of Smith's colleagues turned

:08:06.:08:08.

whistleblower over the affair, says There were so many good,

:08:09.:08:10.

hard-working, professional people I cannot understand why

:08:11.:08:16.

we weren't listened to. The Chief Executive of Pembrokeshire

:08:17.:08:21.

County council is Bryn Parry Jones. He told us the 2005 enquiry found no

:08:22.:08:25.

grounds for criminal charges, but he accepts there were failings and that

:08:26.:08:29.

all the senior officials responsible Smith was only dismissed after

:08:30.:08:33.

a report by the Social Services Inspectorate that called for his

:08:34.:08:39.

case and 25 others to be reviewed. The Children's Commissioner

:08:40.:08:45.

for Wales says he wants to examine I'll take a look at it because I

:08:46.:08:48.

think what you're raising there are very serious allegations that

:08:49.:08:53.

probably need If I take

:08:54.:08:55.

the view that things happened to children in the past could help to

:08:56.:09:01.

improve the lives of children today then I certainly have powers

:09:02.:09:04.

of remit to take a look at it. Mick Smith has now begun

:09:05.:09:08.

a six-year prison sentence. The council has written to 150

:09:09.:09:12.

families to ask if they have concerns about how he might have

:09:13.:09:15.

behaved with their children. One of the most prominent Welsh

:09:16.:09:39.

poets has died. He won the Eisteddfod three times. He was known

:09:40.:09:45.

for his hard-hitting political poems. He also chaired the Welsh

:09:46.:09:47.

language poetry writing competition. Paying tribute, this

:09:48.:09:55.

poet said the nation has lost a giant of literature.

:09:56.:10:03.

An inquest into the death of a five-day-old baby at

:10:04.:10:06.

Swansea's Singleton Hospital has been told strict hygiene rules were

:10:07.:10:08.

Hope Erin Evans from Aberdare was one of two babies who died at the

:10:09.:10:12.

The inquest heard Hope's mother complained after finding a discarded

:10:13.:10:16.

Four of Wales' leading business organisations have written

:10:17.:10:19.

an open letter to the Transport Minister calling for a quick

:10:20.:10:22.

A consultation document was published last September.

:10:23.:10:26.

The business bodies want Edwina Hart to push forward with

:10:27.:10:28.

the ?1 billion project around Newport without delay.

:10:29.:10:39.

Flying to space could become a reality soon as an airfield

:10:40.:10:41.

in Wales is one of eight sites shortlisted as a base

:10:42.:10:44.

Llanbedr Airport is the only site in Wales and is currently closed.

:10:45.:10:48.

The announcement was made by the UK Government at the

:10:49.:10:51.

Here's our business correspondent Brian Meechan.

:10:52.:11:00.

It may sound like the stuff of science fiction but Llanbedr could

:11:01.:11:06.

be on its way to being the Centre for European space travel by 2018.

:11:07.:11:13.

Commercial space already become a reality with virgin offering its

:11:14.:11:16.

first paying passenger space flights this year. But what do locals make

:11:17.:11:22.

the plans? Absolutely fantastic, good for the economy. It's what has

:11:23.:11:27.

been needed since the airfield closed some years ago. This former

:11:28.:11:32.

worker at the airfield seller will be a boost to the jobs in the

:11:33.:11:37.

community. We desperately need the work here. Kids leaving school,

:11:38.:11:42.

nothing to go to, but work like that will be a great help to the area.

:11:43.:11:46.

With a knock-on effect for local economy. I can't imagine, sort of,

:11:47.:11:52.

you know, seeing people arriving for space shuttle landings any time soon

:11:53.:11:58.

but will be great if something happens, definitely. Been able to

:11:59.:12:01.

watch satellite launched will be fantastic. The airfield ticks a lot

:12:02.:12:07.

of boxes which are required from the spaceport. Low population levels,

:12:08.:12:10.

accessible by land and sea and causing little disruption to other

:12:11.:12:18.

areas. It will bring a certain amount of wealth creation to the

:12:19.:12:22.

local area and as things start to develop, we will look to move to a

:12:23.:12:26.

full operational capability in two or three year's time and it will

:12:27.:12:29.

bring a significant number of jobs and new developments on the

:12:30.:12:34.

airfield. It's an industry of growing importance. With over ?11

:12:35.:12:38.

billion to the UK economy every year. And it supports nearly 35,000

:12:39.:12:45.

skilled and well paid jobs. We may be thinking of conventional aircraft

:12:46.:12:48.

like these for our holiday flights and space travel might be out of the

:12:49.:12:54.

price range of most of us, but it is the future. The question is whether

:12:55.:12:59.

it's a future based at Llanbedr. I think a decision will be made on

:13:00.:13:04.

this. We can offer everything required and obviously they do short

:13:05.:13:09.

list, as part of a competition, but we have a good case to make as why

:13:10.:13:14.

it should be Llanbedr. Wales has a thriving aerospace industry.

:13:15.:13:24.

Llanbedr is up against six sites in Scotland and with an independent

:13:25.:13:28.

referendum looming, that could lead Llanbedr's ambitions grounded.

:13:29.:13:37.

A marine taking part in a special forces training exercise

:13:38.:13:39.

died after falling more than 100 feet down a gorge in Snowdonia.

:13:40.:13:42.

An inquest into the death of Ashley Hicks, from Solihull in the

:13:43.:13:45.

West Midlands, heard from colleagues who described how he slipped

:13:46.:13:47.

25-year-old Ashley Hicks was described

:13:48.:13:50.

as an exceptionally capable and well motivated soldier who was

:13:51.:13:55.

taking part in a selection exercise for the elite special forces.

:13:56.:13:57.

In October 2012, he and five colleagues were part of

:13:58.:14:00.

a unit dropped near Trawsfynydd in Gwynedd and told to evade a hunter

:14:01.:14:03.

They chose a route which contained a steep 100 foot

:14:04.:14:06.

deep gorge which wasn't identified on the basic maps they were given.

:14:07.:14:09.

The team of six Marines, with Ashley Hicks in front, were

:14:10.:14:12.

making their way in the dark around the edge of Trawsfynydd Lake.

:14:13.:14:15.

They were heading to a rendezvous point further north.

:14:16.:14:18.

When they reached a dry stone wall, Ashley Hicks climbed over it.

:14:19.:14:21.

He told his colleagues, "It's steep here, watch your footing."

:14:22.:14:23.

Three of Marine Hicks' former colleagues

:14:24.:14:27.

who have since become members of the special forces gave evidence

:14:28.:14:29.

Referred to only as Soldiers A, B and E, they described how he was

:14:30.:14:35.

found at the bottom of the gorge with serious injuries.

:14:36.:14:38.

He stopped breathing and Soldier A tried to resuscitate him,

:14:39.:14:42.

but he failed to regain conciousness before an RAF rescue helicopter

:14:43.:14:44.

The variety of remote and rugged terrain here makes Wales a popular

:14:45.:14:51.

location for the armed forces to put recruits through their paces.

:14:52.:14:54.

Three soldiers died on one of the hottest of days

:14:55.:15:00.

of last summer whilst also taking part in special forces selection

:15:01.:15:03.

Ashley Hicks' inquest in caernarfon will continue tomorrow.

:15:04.:15:17.

And emotional evening for Christian Malcolm, who picked up his first

:15:18.:15:31.

medal for Wales back in 1998. Now he is preparing to race for the last

:15:32.:15:33.

time on home soil. People who smoke in cars with

:15:34.:15:42.

children in them could face penalty points and a fine under plans for

:15:43.:15:45.

a new law by the Welsh Government. It's hoped it will have

:15:46.:15:49.

a huge impact in reducing harm But are we doing enough to reduce

:15:50.:15:51.

other health risks in childhood? A report out today suggests children

:15:52.:15:55.

in our most deprived communities are twice as likely to die

:15:56.:15:58.

in any one year those born Our health correspondent

:15:59.:16:00.

Owain Clarke has more. It's one of

:16:01.:16:07.

the most important responsibilities of any government, how to make sure

:16:08.:16:09.

the youngest in society get And how do you protect them

:16:10.:16:11.

from risks when they are too young The Welsh government wanted

:16:12.:16:17.

for a long time to reduce children's exposure to second-hand

:16:18.:16:22.

smoke in cars. And it's had some success with

:16:23.:16:25.

exposure rates halving from 18% But after a recent Westminster vote,

:16:26.:16:29.

which gave the Welsh government extra powers, the health minister

:16:30.:16:37.

confirmed plans to go further. There are still about a quarter

:16:38.:16:42.

of the population who go on smoking We're going to move ahead in Wales

:16:43.:16:46.

with a ban on smoking There are moves to introduce similar

:16:47.:16:56.

bans elsewhere in the UK but in a new report, the Royal College

:16:57.:17:02.

of paediatrics and child health says it is also concerned

:17:03.:17:06.

about the risks of smoking on In 2010, a higher proportion

:17:07.:17:09.

of pregnant women smoked in Wales And it's a particular problem

:17:10.:17:16.

in less well-off communities. So why, then, when the dangers are

:17:17.:17:23.

so well known, do some expectant I had other children and they are

:17:24.:17:27.

quite stressful so I carried on smoking, but there was nothing

:17:28.:17:33.

wrong with my children or anything. I've smoked

:17:34.:17:39.

since a very young age and found it I did feel very guilty

:17:40.:17:42.

smoking whilst pregnant. So

:17:43.:17:48.

the Royal College wants to see new smoking reduction targets set for

:17:49.:17:51.

every stage of pregnancy by 2015. It is also calling

:17:52.:17:56.

for targeted support to reduce smoking in family homes which can

:17:57.:17:59.

increase the risk of cot deaths. And for older children it's calling

:18:00.:18:03.

for better care for asthma, epilepsy Smoking cessation

:18:04.:18:06.

in England has had greater investment and I think the rates

:18:07.:18:15.

of smoking cessation in England has fallen at a greater proportion to

:18:16.:18:18.

Wales and is a reflection of the Overall, the report concludes

:18:19.:18:21.

the NHS here can boast some of the best doctors, and medical equipment

:18:22.:18:27.

anywhere and the Welsh government says it is committed to reducing

:18:28.:18:31.

avoidable child death but this still, it seems, much more to do

:18:32.:18:39.

to offer children, wherever they are born in Wales, the best

:18:40.:18:41.

possible chance of a healthy life. In total, there are ten proposed

:18:42.:18:59.

laws covering areas like public health, education and planning

:19:00.:19:06.

systems. Wales has been making money at the Royal Mint for decades. And

:19:07.:19:12.

now it's going to have its own means to raise money as well with the

:19:13.:19:17.

Treasury, as the National Assembly gets tax varying and borrowing

:19:18.:19:20.

powers for the first time. A new Treasury has been included in the

:19:21.:19:24.

West government's law making plans for the next year. This is a

:19:25.:19:29.

historic time for Wales, the first piece of tax legislation the

:19:30.:19:34.

assembly has had to consider and it will pave the way for the

:19:35.:19:39.

replacement of stamp duty land tax and landfill tax with new devolved

:19:40.:19:44.

Welsh taxes from 2018. One of the questions is whether a new Treasury

:19:45.:19:48.

at a place like this, the Welsh government offices in the centre of

:19:49.:19:53.

Cardiff, will come to resemble a kind of powerful Treasury we see at

:19:54.:19:58.

Westminster, which not only sets tax rates, but also tightly controls the

:19:59.:20:03.

purse strings of all the other government departments like health

:20:04.:20:08.

and education. The Economist here wrote a report recommending tax and

:20:09.:20:12.

borrowing powers devolved and says they could be tensions between a new

:20:13.:20:15.

Treasury and other government departments. The Welsh government

:20:16.:20:20.

has a tradition of a lot of discretion for individual ministers

:20:21.:20:27.

and I think many of them would be uneasy about having a stronger

:20:28.:20:32.

Treasury looking at their investment decisions and subjecting them to

:20:33.:20:35.

scrutiny and making them present more detailed business cases and

:20:36.:20:39.

things like that, so I think there's probably a splitter there. The new

:20:40.:20:43.

programme is not just about the Treasury. There are plans to ban

:20:44.:20:47.

e-cigarettes in public places. Local government legislation is pave the

:20:48.:20:52.

way for councils to merge voluntarily and the law to create a

:20:53.:20:57.

new body to regulate exams. When this government's term comes to an

end, it would've been the first lawmaking powers. What it has done

:21:01.:21:05.

with those powers is likely the former big part of how we judge it.

:21:06.:21:29.

With just a over a week to go before the start of the Commonwealth Games

:21:30.:21:32.

almost all of Wales' athletics team are competing tonight for the last

:21:33.:21:35.

But for one of our best sprinters, tonight's meeting could be

:21:36.:21:39.

Tomos Dafydd is at the Welsh Athletics International

:21:40.:21:42.

Helen Jenkins has been forced to withdraw because of an injury. A big

:21:43.:21:47.

blow for team Wales because she was one of the real medal hopes and

:21:48.:21:50.

pulled out during an event at the weekend. A precaution, we were told

:21:51.:21:52.

but tonight, the news of this horrific injury. She said tonight

:21:53.:21:58.

she's obviously devastated and looking forward to racing a tough

:21:59.:22:04.

honest triathlon course in Strathclyde and such is almost

:22:05.:22:07.

certain she won't be racing again this season. That get the reaction

:22:08.:22:11.

of team Wales captain Aled Sion Davies. A big blow for you? Yes, it

:22:12.:22:20.

is sad. Injuries are an occupational hazard. Myself and the rest of the

:22:21.:22:23.

team wish her all the best. We hope she has a speedy recovery. The third

:22:24.:22:31.

high-profile athlete to withdraw. The medal target, should be revised?

:22:32.:22:38.

Is it still achievable, 27 medals? I totally believe it is achievable. We

:22:39.:22:42.

have a lot of up-and-coming stars in the team and there's a lot of

:22:43.:22:45.

athletes going to Glasgow and this is their chance to shine. We will

:22:46.:22:50.

talk again over the next fortnight and all the best. I said Elliott was

:22:51.:22:53.

going to be an emotional night light for this man, Christian Malcolm,

:22:54.:22:58.

racing for the last time on home soil. Tell us your position. Is this

:22:59.:23:05.

retirement tonight? Not quite. It's definitely my last time running in

:23:06.:23:11.

Wales sevens emotional for me. I just want to get on with it and get

:23:12.:23:15.

it over and done with. You picked up your first Commonwealth medal for

:23:16.:23:21.

Wales back in 1988. Assess for us the importance of the Commonwealth

:23:22.:23:25.

Games to developing young athletes. It's massively important. It's a big

:23:26.:23:31.

championships, not as big as the Olympic Games and not so many

:23:32.:23:36.

companies, but it's a great stepping stone for youngsters to go in there

:23:37.:23:39.

and really put themselves on a global stage and say they could be a

:23:40.:23:43.

world-class athlete. So with a great event. All the best tonight. Thank

:23:44.:23:48.

you very much indeed. Let me bring you up to date with some football

:23:49.:23:53.

news because it's a big night for the second qualifying round of the

:23:54.:23:56.

Champions League. T M S are up against slave and butter slaver and

:23:57.:24:05.

at half-time, it is 0-0. The goalkeeper is busy -- Bratislava.

:24:06.:24:10.

Cricket, and Glamorgan can take a big step towards qualifying for the

:24:11.:24:13.

They are playing against Sussex at Hove.

:24:14.:24:17.

Christian Malcolm's final race is at 8.00pm.

:24:18.:24:31.

Sue Charles has the weather forecast for us.

:24:32.:24:37.

The weather will turn more dramatic by the end of the week. Tomorrow,

:24:38.:24:45.

warm but cloudier. Some rain in the forecast. Sunny spells, especially

:24:46.:24:49.

further east, but overnight, more cloud making its way from the West.

:24:50.:24:54.

Mr and fog patches. Coastal showers but for most of us, a dry and mild

:24:55.:25:03.

night, 11-16. We start to see high pressure building from the south

:25:04.:25:06.

tomorrow but this front of the north-west of Wales will pushing

:25:07.:25:10.

through the day so tomorrow, dry sunny spells to start. And then

:25:11.:25:15.

turning increasingly cloudy from the north-west with spots of drizzle,

:25:16.:25:21.

light rain, but fairly patchy in nature and, despite the cloud,

:25:22.:25:27.

warming up tomorrow. 18 Celsius in Pembrokeshire, 21 in Powys. Tomorrow

:25:28.:25:34.

evening, declare Southeast would serve any rain easing off, drying up

:25:35.:25:38.

overnight, but remaining cloudy with mist and fog patches developing.

:25:39.:25:45.

Thursday is looking warmer, still. Early cloud clearing to leave a fine

:25:46.:25:50.

and sunny day. An outside chance of an isolated shower, but with a light

:25:51.:25:55.

wind, starting to feel quite hot, temperatures up to the mid 20s. 24 -

:25:56.:26:02.

25 possible. Later in the week, humid air from Spain, hot sunny

:26:03.:26:08.

spells, but it is unstable. A greater chance of a thundery

:26:09.:26:13.

breakdown. The potential for some torrential downpours from death on

:26:14.:26:18.

Friday and Saturday. Our warm end to the week. Temperatures in the

:26:19.:26:23.

mid-20s, possibly the high 20s. The heat could trigger thundershowers

:26:24.:26:26.

and looking less humid and fresher as we head into Sunday. Today's

:26:27.:26:33.

picture is looking at the clouds gathering over Cardigan Bay. We can

:26:34.:26:38.

see a few storm clouds gathering later this week. You can send your

:26:39.:26:48.

photos by twitter or e-mail. Thank you very much indeed. It's been a

:26:49.:26:51.

day of ministerial movement across the UK Government including Stephen

:26:52.:26:56.

Crabb becoming the new Secretary of State for Wales. He takes over from

:26:57.:27:01.

David Jones who was sacked last night. He told this programme is

:27:02.:27:09.

looking forward to the challenge. I am clever job of Secretary of state

:27:10.:27:13.

for Wales as to the positively and constructively with government

:27:14.:27:16.

departments in London but also across the devolution divide with

:27:17.:27:19.

the Welsh government in Cardiff and over the last two years, I have been

:27:20.:27:25.

doing the junior job and enjoyed constructive relationships and I

:27:26.:27:29.

look forward to continuing that in my new role as Secretary of State.

:27:30.:27:35.

That is Wales today. An update for you at eight p.m.. More after the

:27:36.:27:40.

News at ten. Thank you for your company. Have a good evening. Bye
