Stephen Crabb is the new Secretary of State for Wales.

Mr Crabb, who's the MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire, takes over from

David Jones, who was sacked last night in a wide-ranging reshuffle

Our parliamentary correspondent, David Cornock, reports.

Stephen Crabb knew his summons to Downing Street this morning

He emerged half an hour later to tell the waiting cameras

he was delighted to be David Cameron's new Welsh Secretary.

He's 41, married with a son and daughter.

He was born in Inverness but he and his two brothers were raised

by their single mother in a council house in Haverfordwest.

He went to school there too before Bristol University

running the London Marathon three times.

He's even tried coasteering in Pembrokeshire.

The Secretary of State for Wales must work across the devolution

divide with the Welsh government in Cardiff and the government in

London. I have been doing the junior Welsh office job and enjoy the

constructive relationship with ministers and I look forward to

continuing that in this new role as Secretary of State.

Credibility because a key aspect of his role is to improve relations for

the Welsh Assembly government, to ensure that they work together as

effectively as possible to make sure that more happens at the coal face,

And the First Minister says he can do business with a Conservative

Secretary of State. We could be doing that any approach from the

wells office. I have dealt with the new Secretary of State in the past

and I have found him to be pragmatic and reasonable -- the Wales office.

BBC Wales understands that four Conservative Assembly Members who

were sacked as official spokesmen and women for the party

five months ago, will be reinstated tomorrow.

Mohammad Asghar, Nick Ramsay, Antoinette Sandbach,

and Janet Finch-Saunders rebelled against the Welsh Tory leader

Andrew RT Davies, in a vote on the devolution of income tax.

It's understood that the move was triggered

by this week's cabinet reshuffle at Westminster.

An inquest into the death of a five-day old baby

Gerallt Lloyd Owen, who was 69, won the Urdd Eisteddfod chair three

times and the National Eisteddfod chair twice. He also chaired

the Welsh language poetry writing competition, Talwrn y Beirdd.

He was the voice of his generation. He put into some great poetry in

strict metre, what many of us thought in the 60s and 70s. And that

can never be replaced because he expressed our innermost thoughts and

aspirations and really put us to the test.

Flying to space could become a reality soon

as an airfield in Wales is one of eight sites

shortlisted as a base for Britains's first space port.

Llanbedr airport in southern Snowdonia

is the only site in Wales on the list.

The announcement was made by the UK Government

at the Farnborough International air show.

It sounds like science fiction but Llanbedr could be on its way

to being the Centre for European space travel by 2018.

Commercial space travel is to be a reality with virgin offering

its first paying passenger space flights this year.

I think a decision will be made on this.
