though on Monday, we will see increasing amount of cloud and rain | :00:00. | :00:00.
pushing across the country. Almost 400 workers may be made | :00:00. | :00:19.
redundant from the Avana bakery in Newport. | :00:20. | :00:24.
Just a few weeks after it gained new owners, today Caney news that people | :00:25. | :00:25.
at this site feared. On trial for fraud - charity | :00:26. | :00:28.
boss Naz Malik takes the stand. He told a court he doesn't | :00:29. | :00:31.
believe he's done anything wrong. Fire-fighters clear the River Usk | :00:32. | :00:36.
after fly-tippers make rescues Now a new weapon to crackdown | :00:37. | :00:38.
on offenders. Rounding up opinion | :00:39. | :00:41.
on the referendum. How would you feel about sharing the | :00:42. | :00:43.
pound with an independent Scotland? The last of the season docks | :00:44. | :00:48.
at Holyhead, bringing hundreds We are coming from Luxembourg on the | :00:49. | :01:05.
cruise ship. So far, we have a very good time and the weather is very | :01:06. | :01:06.
nice. There are concerns tonight that | :01:07. | :01:15.
nearly 400 workers could be made redundant from the Avana Bakery | :01:16. | :01:24.
in Rogerstone in Newport. It comes just weeks after | :01:25. | :01:26.
the company was sold, raising hopes Our reporter Paul Heaney is | :01:27. | :01:29.
at the bakery for us this evening. Thank you. As you said, just a few | :01:30. | :01:47.
weeks ago, there was some optimism that the hundreds of jobs here at | :01:48. | :01:52.
the bakery in Newport could be saved but at that time there was some | :01:53. | :01:56.
notes of pessimism as well. People were wondering whether it really was | :01:57. | :02:01.
feasible to keep 550 people working here and at midday today, I | :02:02. | :02:06.
understand, many employees were told they would be made redundant just | :02:07. | :02:12.
before Christmas. Making hand decorated cakes was big business | :02:13. | :02:16.
here until the firm lost a key contract with Marks Spencer. A | :02:17. | :02:21.
massive blow for the site which lost 85% of its order book. In April, 600 | :02:22. | :02:28.
workers were told to expect redundancies. Three months later, a | :02:29. | :02:33.
cautious welcome was given when the site was sold to two former | :02:34. | :02:39.
directors but tonight, the main union says up to 390 members of | :02:40. | :02:45.
staff could be made redundant by November. Devastated for the people. | :02:46. | :02:50.
Really thought they had a hope of new business for the firm. We know | :02:51. | :02:55.
it is a competitive industry. But we have seen that the industry | :02:56. | :02:58.
generally is growing across the country. I will be asking questions | :02:59. | :03:02.
of the Welsh assembly government, who have done their best to help, | :03:03. | :03:05.
what expertise do they have two help firms like this game new orders? The | :03:06. | :03:16.
new owners are said to be looking at how they can create their own | :03:17. | :03:20.
product is rather than working with big supermarkets. But with the loss | :03:21. | :03:25.
of so many jobs, the fear is today's news could have an effect on the | :03:26. | :03:31.
wider economy. Joining me now is the local | :03:32. | :03:37.
councillor, Chris Evans. Thank you for joining us this evening. I am | :03:38. | :03:41.
sorry it is under these circumstances. What do you | :03:42. | :03:45.
understand about today's announcement? It does now seem that | :03:46. | :03:53.
wraps around 300 jobs, if not more, Mike going. That is absolutely | :03:54. | :03:58.
devastating news. These are loyal workers that have done nothing apart | :03:59. | :04:03.
from continued to do their jobs to the best of their ability. It is | :04:04. | :04:07.
absolutely devastating. Is it disappointing the company have not | :04:08. | :04:11.
given more information and stated their intentions? We have tried | :04:12. | :04:14.
getting in touch with them, without any joy. A few months ago, when | :04:15. | :04:22.
there was some hope, I did suggest caution then. And it does seem, and | :04:23. | :04:26.
this gives me no pleasure to say, that our worst fears have been | :04:27. | :04:31.
realised and yes, food utopia perhaps should have come clean | :04:32. | :04:37.
earlier. For the employees left here, what hope is there for them? | :04:38. | :04:42.
This is a very challenging environment to operate in. I cannot | :04:43. | :04:48.
speak. I am not a cake manufacturer. But I do know that the Welsh | :04:49. | :04:52.
assembly have tried to do things but you cannot magic at borders. Who | :04:53. | :04:59.
knows what the future holds? But these workers need to know they have | :05:00. | :05:03.
done nothing wrong. Good more support have been given by the City | :05:04. | :05:06.
Council or the Welsh assembly government -- could more as a mark | :05:07. | :05:14.
the Welsh assembly has been advocating on behalf of the workers. | :05:15. | :05:17.
It is just one of those impossible situations but I must say that I | :05:18. | :05:22.
think the company should have come clean sooner. Thank you very much | :05:23. | :05:27.
for your time, Chris. All that is left to say this evening is that | :05:28. | :05:32.
maybe a bit of a repeat sentence from one we were here a few weeks | :05:33. | :05:35.
ago that this is an incredibly difficult operating environment. And | :05:36. | :05:42.
I guess this is what happens when people try to make things work when | :05:43. | :05:45.
they have many employees to look after. | :05:46. | :05:49.
The former chief executive of a race equality charity has told | :05:50. | :05:51.
a court at his trial he didn't do anything wrong. | :05:52. | :05:54.
Nasir Malik denies three counts of fraud relating to his time | :05:55. | :05:57.
at the All Wales Ethnic Minority Association. | :05:58. | :05:58.
Today he took to the stand for the first time at Swansea Crown Court. | :05:59. | :06:01.
Over a 12 year period, AWEMA receive public funding from the Welsh | :06:02. | :06:17.
Government, the European Union and the big lottery fund to promote | :06:18. | :06:20.
equality across an increasingly diverse country. But it is alleged | :06:21. | :06:26.
that the charity 's chief executive fraudulently used some of that money | :06:27. | :06:30.
to reduce his personal debts by nearly ?12,000. He is also accused | :06:31. | :06:36.
of dishonestly arranging for AWEMA to pay for a life assurance policy | :06:37. | :06:41.
taken out on behalf of his wife. This morning, Naz Malik arrived at | :06:42. | :06:47.
Swansea Crown Court to tackle those allegations head-on. Asked about one | :06:48. | :06:51.
of the checks he is alleged to have used fraudulently, he said the money | :06:52. | :06:56.
was to cover expenses. He said he had submitted all receipts to the | :06:57. | :07:01.
financial director. The jury heard he had then failed to process the | :07:02. | :07:07.
paperwork. Naz Malik told the court it was him who suggested he should | :07:08. | :07:10.
take one of the pre-signed cheques kept in the office for emergencies | :07:11. | :07:15.
and give it a value of ?2500. Naz Malik 's barrister asked his client | :07:16. | :07:21.
if he thought he had done anything wrong. No, I did not, was the | :07:22. | :07:27.
confident reply. He was then asked if he had considered he was | :07:28. | :07:31.
defrauding his employers. I did not, not for one moment. Did you consider | :07:32. | :07:38.
you were doing anything dishonest? I did not come and not for one moment. | :07:39. | :07:44.
Naz Malik, who was born in Kenny, gave similar answers when asked | :07:45. | :07:48.
about a second pre-signed blank cheque he is alleged to have taken. | :07:49. | :07:54.
Naz Malik insisted the finance director was present that day. And | :07:55. | :07:59.
was aware that the cheque of the sum of more than ?9,000 was being used | :08:00. | :08:05.
to cover further expenses. Asked about the life assurance policy, Naz | :08:06. | :08:08.
Malik said the charity had been working towards introducing a | :08:09. | :08:12.
pension scheme for many years. He said he took it as read that any | :08:13. | :08:16.
pension arrangement would include a death in service benefit. He | :08:17. | :08:22.
believed he had permission to sort out his own pension policy to be | :08:23. | :08:28.
paid for I AWEMA. Naz Malik denies three counts of fraud and he will | :08:29. | :08:31.
return to the witness box tomorrow. A teenager has been jailed | :08:32. | :08:34.
for 16 years for raping a woman Newport Crown Court heard how | :08:35. | :08:37.
18-year-old Lee-Joseph Dickson forced his way into her home | :08:38. | :08:41.
when she answered the door The judge described it | :08:42. | :08:43.
as a "horrifying attack." Two more nurses have been arrested, | :08:44. | :08:50.
in connection with an investigation into allegations | :08:51. | :08:52.
of wilful neglect at the Princess The women, who are from the area, | :08:53. | :08:54.
are 29 and 40. It means five nurses have been | :08:55. | :08:58.
arrested in total - one, Rebecca Jones, has pleaded guilty to | :08:59. | :09:01.
nine counts of wilful neglect Almost half of Welsh voters think | :09:02. | :09:03.
public spending in Scotland should be cut if there's | :09:04. | :09:16.
a No vote in the country's That's according to new research | :09:17. | :09:19.
which also found that more than half of Welsh and English voters were | :09:20. | :09:23.
opposed to Scottish independence. Our political correspondent | :09:24. | :09:25.
Daniel Davies has more. Barry Island, where generations of | :09:26. | :09:41.
day-trippers have been emptying their pockets into the amusement | :09:42. | :09:44.
arcades. And the pound in your pocket is a crucial part of the | :09:45. | :09:49.
debate on Scottish independence. The government there wants to share the | :09:50. | :09:52.
pound as part of a currency union with the rest of the UK. Now a | :09:53. | :09:57.
survey has asked what the rest of Britain thinks about that. If | :09:58. | :10:01.
Scotland goes Independent, 44% of Welsh people said they would not | :10:02. | :10:06.
want to share the pound. Feelings were stronger in England, where 53% | :10:07. | :10:12.
were opposed. If Scotland votes no, 48% of people in Wales say public | :10:13. | :10:19.
spending should be cut. Once again, England took a tougher line, 56% | :10:20. | :10:24.
said Scottish spending should fall to the UK average. Losing Scotland | :10:25. | :10:31.
will be a loss, of course. I would rather be a united country with | :10:32. | :10:35.
Scotland being part of it. Leaving will I think open the gates for all | :10:36. | :10:39.
sorts of things around the world. I think they can do it. If Wales could | :10:40. | :10:45.
do it, they would. And they would not eat it -- need England. But they | :10:46. | :10:55.
will not let them do it. Wales should be part of a strong United | :10:56. | :11:00.
Kingdom. Standing shoulder to shoulder, working to improve | :11:01. | :11:05.
everyone's lives across this union. Having this referendum is a positive | :11:06. | :11:09.
thing for Wales. A yes vote in Scotland would be a positive thing | :11:10. | :11:12.
for Wales. Wales would not be competing with Scotland for | :11:13. | :11:16.
political or financial drought, for example. Wales would be building a | :11:17. | :11:22.
strong relationship with Scotland, I am sure. This research suggests | :11:23. | :11:30.
English voters are more likely to want to give Scotland a rough ride, | :11:31. | :11:33.
according to the academics that have commissioned it. Welsh voters are | :11:34. | :11:39.
more accommodating. They say, weenie to make this work. The approach in | :11:40. | :11:43.
England is pretty tough, almost punitive. If you are going, go, and | :11:44. | :11:50.
it is your problem from now on. The opinion polls show the no campaign | :11:51. | :11:53.
is in the lead but a potentially crucial number of Scottish voters | :11:54. | :11:58.
have not made up their mind. Four weeks tomorrow, they will decide | :11:59. | :12:02.
whether independence is a safe bet or too much of a gamble. | :12:03. | :12:05.
So, Dan, people in Wales and England don't see eye to eye on | :12:06. | :12:08.
On whether or not Scotland should be independent, they do agree, this | :12:09. | :12:17.
survey tells us, that I and large, most people like the UK the way that | :12:18. | :12:23.
it is. But beyond that, they do not see eye to eye on the question of | :12:24. | :12:26.
what should happen after the referendum. There are big | :12:27. | :12:31.
differences. English people for example much more likely to say that | :12:32. | :12:38.
if there is a no vote then Scottish MPs, powers of voting should be | :12:39. | :12:42.
limited at Westminster. If there is a yes vote, English people much less | :12:43. | :12:46.
likely to say that we should help them joined the European Union or | :12:47. | :12:51.
NATO. It could be because we have had our own brand of devolution in | :12:52. | :12:55.
Wales, Welsh people are little bit more relaxed about all of this. What | :12:56. | :12:59.
do you see as the significance of this survey? The no campaign | :13:00. | :13:04.
Scotland has made a series of promises saying that if you vote no, | :13:05. | :13:07.
there will not be a cutting public spending, we will not change the | :13:08. | :13:12.
status of Scottish MPs. We know from this survey that actually the | :13:13. | :13:18.
majority of voters in Britain do not agree with that. It could be that | :13:19. | :13:23.
may be any future that is something we need to take account of in Wales, | :13:24. | :13:26.
how do English people feel when people in Wales start talking about | :13:27. | :13:29.
devolving more powers and more money to Cardiff? Interesting, thank you | :13:30. | :13:32.
very much. A Welsh Liberal Democrat Activist, | :13:33. | :13:36.
who was one of the women who made a complaint | :13:37. | :13:38.
about Lord Rennard, has criticised the party for failing to take action | :13:39. | :13:41.
against the former chief executive. He was suspended | :13:42. | :13:43.
following sexual harassment claims. However, they couldn't be proved | :13:44. | :13:45.
beyond reasonable doubt and the disciplinary action has now | :13:46. | :13:47.
been dropped. Alison Goldsworthy says | :13:48. | :13:49.
the party should be ashamed. Western Power Distribution has | :13:50. | :13:53.
announced its preferred route to connect the power generated | :13:54. | :13:55.

of fly-tipping in Wales every year, a crime which costs tax payers | :14:16. | :14:18.
millions of pounds. But now local authorities here are | :14:19. | :14:20.
using mobile technology to It means Wales could be the first | :14:21. | :14:22.

of waste enforcement officers from the council trawl through | :14:39. | :14:39.
the latest rubbish dumped in one They scour the site for clues, | :14:40. | :14:42.
personal information on letters or scraps of paper - anything that can | :14:43. | :14:52.
lead them to the people who dumped In Wales, there are 100 incidents of | :14:53. | :15:06.
fly-tipping every single day. And it costs the Welsh taxpayer more than | :15:07. | :15:08.
?2 million to clear it all up. But seven local authorites in Wales, | :15:09. | :15:11.
including Newport, are now using these handheld GPS devices to track | :15:12. | :15:14.
cases of flytipping. It records the location and type | :15:15. | :15:19.
of waste that's been dumped - and feeds that information | :15:20. | :15:22.
into a central database, so offices can find out where there's a crime | :15:23. | :15:25.
and how often it's being commited. It's a handheld system | :15:26. | :15:28.
for gathering intelligence. It is a real tool in terms of | :15:29. | :15:40.
installing culverts and -- surveillance techniques. We need the | :15:41. | :15:46.
justification. That will give us that. | :15:47. | :15:49.
Less than a mile away, fire crews are dredging the banks of the | :15:50. | :15:57.
They're painstakingly removing detritus that's been dumped | :15:58. | :16:00.
in the river, usually at night - everything from bicycles to railings | :16:01. | :16:03.
In the past four years, emergency services have had to rescue 86 | :16:04. | :16:07.
people from this stretch of the river, but flytipping has made | :16:08. | :16:10.
It could cause someone to die in the river. Any delay of Cruise getting | :16:11. | :16:18.
in the water could result in a fatality. | :16:19. | :16:21.
Fly-tipping is nothing new, but it appears to be exacerbated | :16:22. | :16:24.
by the scaling down of kerbside collections in many | :16:25. | :16:26.
local authority areas and the closure of some recycling centres. | :16:27. | :16:28.
Every council has environmental targets to meet - | :16:29. | :16:30.
the challenge is hitting those targets with a shrinking budget. | :16:31. | :16:38.
I generally feel that the major problem in many respects his | :16:39. | :16:44.
resources for authorities. But education for the general public, | :16:45. | :16:46.
how can we all contribute. Last month new guidlines | :16:47. | :16:51.
on flytipping came into force Anyone convited | :16:52. | :16:54.
of illegal dumping could now face far stiffer fines, running into the | :16:55. | :16:57.
millions for the most serious cases, It's a sign that authorites are now | :16:58. | :17:00.
prepared to clamp down on flytipping So to come, we will have a will fall | :17:01. | :17:16.

Tomorrow tens of thousands of pupils across Wales will get | :17:24. | :17:25.
Last year, there were celebrations as young people here closed | :17:26. | :17:29.
So what can we expect from this year's exams? | :17:30. | :17:33.
Our education correspondent, Arwyn Jones, is here to explain. | :17:34. | :17:39.
Tens of thousands of pupils have sat GCSE exams this year. | :17:40. | :17:43.
They're doing so at a time when the very system | :17:44. | :17:45.
Well, two years ago there was, frankly, a fiasco with thousands | :17:46. | :17:52.
of English language papers having to be re-graded in Wales | :17:53. | :17:55.
It led to the first Wales-specific GCSE in English language exams, | :17:56. | :18:00.
There was a greater emphasis on "reading and writing", | :18:01. | :18:09.
but headteachers insisted that wasn't made clear enough Over 100 | :18:10. | :18:11.
secondary schools complained of "disappointingly low" results. | :18:12. | :18:14.
Over 90% of pupils chose to re-sit the exam, far more than usual. | :18:15. | :18:29.
Earlier this year, our confidence in the system was rocked with the | :18:30. | :18:38.
fiasco surrounding the WJEC GCSE English qualification. Our | :18:39. | :18:44.
confidence was rocked. We were given promises, assurances, that the | :18:45. | :18:48.
results would in the summer reflect our expectations. The promise has | :18:49. | :18:53.
been made. We're now waiting for the promised to be delivered. | :18:54. | :18:56.
But the Education Minister, Huw Lewis, | :18:57. | :18:57.
has said that this year's candidates are not disadvantaged in any way, | :18:58. | :19:00.
and the results should tally with last year's, unless there's a | :19:01. | :19:03.
So how much of a comfort is that to this year's cohort, | :19:04. | :19:09.
I did all right back then. Some of my friends did not do so well. It | :19:10. | :19:23.
was a problem, I guess. I hope I passed, I fear I failed. Especially | :19:24. | :19:27.
Welsh. Welch is important around here. | :19:28. | :19:30.
We'll hear more from Will and Tom as they, and tens of thousands of | :19:31. | :19:34.
We'll have a full picture of how well students have done | :19:35. | :19:38.

Cardiff City have written to Crystal Palace advising them they are taking | :19:54. | :19:58.
legal action over the leaking of their starting line-up last season. | :19:59. | :20:02.
We heard earlier this week that Crystal Palace would be fined after | :20:03. | :20:05.
Cardiff complained they knew the team before the game. BBC Wales | :20:06. | :20:10.
understands Cardiff are unhappy there has been no apologies is the | :20:11. | :20:11.
verdict. Football | :20:12. | :20:14.
and Swansea City have confirmed they have signed Napoli and Argentina | :20:15. | :20:16.
defender Federico Fernandez. The 25-year-old joined the club | :20:17. | :20:18.
for an undisclosed fee, thought to be between seven | :20:19. | :20:20.
and eight million pounds. Fernandez joins | :20:21. | :20:22.
on a four-year contract and is expected to be included in Swansea's | :20:23. | :20:24.
squad to face Burnley on Saturday. Wales' women take on England | :20:25. | :20:29.
tomorrow evening in a World Cup qualifier at the | :20:30. | :20:31.
Cardiff City Stadium. England currently top | :20:32. | :20:33.
the Group 6 table, with Wales 5 Wales are unbeaten this year though | :20:34. | :20:35.
and their captain says it would be a big achievement, if they can make it | :20:36. | :20:40.
to a major international tournament. I cannot really put it into words. | :20:41. | :20:55.
It is a long way off. Yes, I think it will be huge for us to be able to | :20:56. | :21:00.
do something like that and not just for us, but for the whole of the | :21:01. | :21:04.
nation, to qualify for a major tournament, it would be outstanding. | :21:05. | :21:09.
Athletics, and another medal for a Welsh athlete representing GB | :21:10. | :21:11.
at the IPC European Athletics Championships in Swansea. | :21:12. | :21:13.
18-year-old Olivia Breen picked up bronze | :21:14. | :21:15.
She said she was particularly pleased as she was still tired | :21:16. | :21:19.
And Kyron Duke is currently in action in the men's F41 javelin. | :21:20. | :21:25.
Disappointment and frustration for former world champion | :21:26. | :21:27.
After being in bronze position for most of the men's F-57 javelin | :21:28. | :21:31.
But he challenged the decision the foul on his second attempt. | :21:32. | :21:34.
He believed that would have been enough to win him a medal, | :21:35. | :21:37.
And in Berlin, Welsh swimmer Jemma Lowe picked up | :21:38. | :21:57.
She was part of the world-record-beating 4x100 | :21:58. | :21:59.
Meanwhile Georgia Davies is through in the 100 metre backstroke, | :22:00. | :22:03.
and Jazz Carlin has qualified for the 800 metres freestyle final. | :22:04. | :22:15.
And finally cricket and Glamorgan 's final limited overs match of the | :22:16. | :22:19.
summer, they are playing Sussex. The luxury cruise industry is big | :22:20. | :22:29.
business in Wales, with more than 20,000 visitors | :22:30. | :22:31.
arriving at our ports each year. Holyhead can accommodate the biggest | :22:32. | :22:34.
ships and today it's been home for Matthew Richards joined | :22:35. | :22:37.
the passengers of the Crystal Symphony, as they spent | :22:38. | :22:40.
the day in North Wales. Waving hello to Wales, the | :22:41. | :22:48.
travellers aboard this luxurious, but comparatively small ship made | :22:49. | :22:51.
their way to various locations to sample everything from history to | :22:52. | :22:53.
holes on the nearest golf course. It's a whistle stop tour on a seven | :22:54. | :23:04.
day cruise around the British Isles for people from 30 different | :23:05. | :23:07.
countries, predominantly the USA. A lotta people are not backed Ilia | :23:08. | :23:18.
with Wales. They want to experience the culture and the countryside. And | :23:19. | :23:22.
then we are heading up to Liverpool tomorrow, and a lot them will be be | :23:23. | :23:30.
going to Edinburgh. The 800 passengers and crew will be spending | :23:31. | :23:38.
12 hours in Holyhead. Many will explore the tourist facilities that | :23:39. | :23:47.
this area has two offer. They would be going to various places in Wales. | :23:48. | :23:52.
But also staying on the island, there are tours. We also cater for | :23:53. | :23:59.
those foot passengers, independent passengers, who like to wander into | :24:00. | :24:02.
Holyhead. The wanderers were given | :24:03. | :24:05.
a crash course in Welsh culture from traditional | :24:06. | :24:06.
dancing in the high street, And others paid a visit to | :24:07. | :24:09.
the local museum, where our maritime history makes it | :24:10. | :24:13.
mark on these 21st century sailors. We are very much the first port of | :24:14. | :24:25.
call for these cruise ships. It allows the people of Holyhead to | :24:26. | :24:29.
give people from all over the world they've positive impression. We also | :24:30. | :24:34.
enjoy the financial bounty that they bring in. | :24:35. | :24:38.
While they're making a contribution to the local economy, what, | :24:39. | :24:40.
I am a net for ancient architecture. I love places that have been around | :24:41. | :24:52.
for a long time. I enjoy seeing the old buildings and the way that the | :24:53. | :24:55.
old town is used to be put together. We were in the church, a very nice | :24:56. | :25:01.
concept. But honestly, we do not know so much about the Welsh. | :25:02. | :25:10.
It may have been the first visit to Wales for many of her passengers, | :25:11. | :25:14.
but the council wants to make sure it wont be the last. | :25:15. | :25:17.
Well, looks like our visitors had pretty good weather up in Holyhead. | :25:18. | :25:23.
Last night was unusually chilly, especially inland. Temperatures well | :25:24. | :25:33.
below the average. The air has come from the Arctic. There are more | :25:34. | :25:39.
chilly nights to come. This evening, much of the country dry. Clear for a | :25:40. | :25:43.
time. Some more cloud and scattered showers turning up later on to Mike. | :25:44. | :25:50.
Another chilly night. 11 Celsius on the West Coast. This is the picture | :25:51. | :25:54.
for 8am. Most of the country dry up this stage. Some sunshine but I do | :25:55. | :26:01.
not think it will be dry everywhere. Some showers are likely in the far | :26:02. | :26:04.
south-east, moving in from the Bristol Channel. These will clear. | :26:05. | :26:10.
Dry and bright for a time, however more cloud and showers will spread | :26:11. | :26:13.
across the country in the afternoon. Heavy in places. The breeze picking | :26:14. | :26:22.
up. Top temperatures 13 Celsius. The Denbigh and fringe show is taking | :26:23. | :26:26.
place tomorrow and most of the day should be dry. Tomorrow, rain moving | :26:27. | :26:37.
to the south. Then into Friday, some dry and bright weather. Some lovely | :26:38. | :26:40.
sunshine but also a sprinkling of showers moving their way to the | :26:41. | :26:45.
south. Into the weekend, some fine weather and sunshine on Saturday. | :26:46. | :26:50.
Saturday night could turn pretty cold. They risk of ground frost in | :26:51. | :26:54.
the countryside. Most of Sunday should be dry and bright but rain is | :26:55. | :26:58.
expected to arrive during the evening. And at the moment, bank | :26:59. | :27:01.
holiday Monday looks a bit of a write-off. Low pressure bringing a | :27:02. | :27:06.
dose of wind and rain. Make the most of the dry weather. | :27:07. | :27:15.
A reminder of our top story. Nearly 400 workers could be made redundant | :27:16. | :27:19.
from the Avana bakery in Newport. It comes just weeks after the company | :27:20. | :27:23.
was sold, raising hopes that jobs could be saved. Unfortunately, there | :27:24. | :27:29.
will now be the knock-on effect other with jobs. This is a large | :27:30. | :27:33.
factory. We know that there will be a number of jobs lost through the | :27:34. | :27:39.
supplier. That is all for now. We will have more at 8pm and 10:25pm. | :27:40. | :27:42.
Good night. | :27:43. | :27:48. |
