The First Minister has been on the campaign trail in Edinburgh

supporting the No campaign in the Scottish referendum.

He told Wales Today the current shape of the UK needed to change.

But independence won't be in anyone's interests.

James Williams reports from Edinburgh.

Never before in Scotland's history has every vote counted for some

much. The race is neck and neck at the momentum is very much with those

on the other side of the independence debate. There is no

doubt the No campaign is concerned over the developing pattern in

opinion polls with support shifting to Yes, especially from Labour

voters. So key Labour figures who will be

visiting here include the First Minister, Carwyn Jones. He warned to

avoid the risks of independence, calling for solidarity among the

UK. But not everybody is willing to listen. This is the Welsh Labour

leader's second visit to the campaign.

Last November, he said he would try to block and dependent Scotland from

sharing the pound for fear it would be detrimental to Wales. -- an

independent. Scotland punches well above its

weight despite its population, we 3.8 million and they are 4.8 million

but they seem bigger because of the weight they carry in the UK. With

Scotland gone, a lot of work will have to be done to ensure what is

left is stable going forward. You talk about fixing the UK as it

is, is it broken? No, it needs fixing. My car needs a

service but it is not broken. That is what we need. Whatever the

results, it is a settlement that is about to change.

To win ties people to stay in the union, a timetable has been agreed

and evolving extra powers to the Scottish Parliament if independence

is rejected. What about Wales? My view is that whatever is on offer

to Scotland should be on offer to Wales. We have to assess which

powers would be appropriate for Wales.

He was not the only Welsh politician in Scotland today but they are not

on the same page. He is a member of the old

gentleman's club with David Cameron, Gordon Brown, Nick Clegg, they all

want us to stay Better Together. If we were Better Together, why are we

not Better Together now? It is not the journey the First

Minister, Scottish Labour or Better Together want Scotland to take but

there are only nine days left as Scotland's future balances on a

knife edge. Meanwhile, the Welsh Secretary has

said Wales will play a part Should Scotland vote No

in next week's referendum. The three main Pro-Union parties

today set out a timetable for giving What there needs to be is a pig and

deep discussion and conversation across the UK involving all the

family of nations about the next stage of devolution -- a big. We are

clear Scotland, there is an appetite for more powers. Alongside that,

there needs to be a joined up discussion involving Northern

Ireland and Wales so we have a coherent constitutional process.

The parents of a man killed in a shark attack in Australia early

this morning have told us he'd been living his dream life.
