Across the country thousands of people have attended services

of Remembrance honouring members of the armed services.

A two minute silence was held at 11 o'clock, to pay tribute to

those killed in World Wars One and Two, and later conflicts.

A time to remember and reflect on the sacrifice of others,

at the Welsh National War Memorial in Cardiff.

Current servicemen and women were among those taking part

The Last Post sounded here and in ceremonies up and down the country,

Politicians and religious leaders were among those

who laid wreaths, in honour of those who were killed

or injured serving their country, not only in past conflicts.

And it's encouraging to see that more

We know just how important it is, not just to remember those who have

fallen in conflicts past but to remember those who are

I am proud that I did what I did and I was in what I was in.

And I think of the wonderful crowd of people.

And people think very highly of us, which is very nice.

We fought for the country to be free.

Freedom of thought, freedom of speech,

If you don't like something, we are allowed to speak up against it.

And that's what we fought for. Not to be downtrodden.

In Aberystwyth, white poppy wreaths were included

in the official remembrance ceremony for the first time.

It was very important. The Aberystwyth peace and justice

network had the support of the council since 2004.

We had the support of the town council

for the laying of a white poppy wreath, since 2004,

trying to combine the ceremony so that everything could happen at

once, so this year's really, really special that we were able to do it.

For many of the current service men and women here today and

their families, this is a poignant and at times painful event.

But they are encouraged by the presence of

so many young people here, that lessons are being passed on.

A murder investigation has been launched

after a 22-year-old man died following an assault in Llanelli.

Simon Lee Bell was taken to hospital after the incident on Dillwyn Street

Two men, aged 30 and 52, have been arrested.

Police say they're not looking for anyone else.

Falklands veteran Simon Weston has described

the much-delayed Iraq war inquiry as "an insult to the memories
