The business secretary has said the UK government will do everything

it can to help find a buyer for Port Talbot steel works.

It's also called for British steel to be used

in public sector contracts.

Meanwhile, the First Minister, Carwyn Jones, says the steel

industry should get the same help as the banks received

after the financial crisis.

Our political correspondent Daniel Davies has more.

Who can save this steel works?

The clock is ticking for Tata to find a buyer.

The UK government's handling of this crisis has been criticised.

But with speculation about potential buyers sniffing around,

Business Secretary Sajid Javid says he will do everything

to clinch a deal.

The UK Government is not keen on nationalisation,

but it has encouraged its departments to buy British

Steel.

The Welsh government said it was already considering something

similar for the public sector here.

There is a great emphasis on purchasing locally at the moment.

The question now is what we will do in addition to that.

It's probably a good idea to come together and see what extra measures

can we take.

The first Minster, Carwyn Jones, said today that no one has done more

to defend the steel industry than his Welsh government.

Now he says it's time for bold action from the UK Government,

similar to the bailout of the banks after the financial crisis.

But Plaid Cymru accuses Mr Jones's government of lacking ambition.

They called for taxpayers money to be invested in the industry.

The Lib Dems say Welsh ministers have been slow to respond

to the industry's needs, the Welsh Tories say parties should

work together to find a buyer.

The Government were caught unawares by the fact that were actually

thinking of closing the plant, and the final decision is at the end

Within weeks, that came as a real shock to the Government,

and now of course the clock is ticking very fast.

Ukip says helping the industry would be easier outside the EU,

a claim that is dismissed by their opponents in

the EU referendum campaign.

Assembly members did not expect to see this Chamber

until after May's elections, but they have been recalled

to discuss the steel crisis tomorrow.

There's not much Assembly members can do about the big challenges that

are costing Tata millions of pounds, like high energy costs

and competition from China.

But with thousands of Welsh steel workers facing an uncertain future,

the politicians know they have to show they are reacting

to this crisis.

Four people have been hurt, one of them seriously,

in a gas explosion at a house in Newport, which police

are treating as suspicious.

Around 30 fire-fighters attended the blast on George Street just

before 7.30pm yesterday, which badly damaged the terraced

house, and also some neighbouring homes.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.

When we arrived at the scene there was severe damage to one

property on the street, the front completely destroyed

and debris across both lanes of the road.

Original reports were that there were five people inside,

there transpired to be 11 which caused some concern

with the state of the building.

Three went to hospital with minor injuries and one person went

with life-threatening injuries.

The body of a man has been found in the search for a 24-year-old

crewman reported missing at Milford Haven docks in

Pembrokeshire.

Josh Winsper, who's from Cornwall, was on board a ship visiting

the area, when he was reported missing yesterday.

Police divers and the coastguard have been involved in the search.

Roads in Pembrokeshire will be improved after the council secured

?2 million of Welsh Government funding.

There'll be new 20 mph speed limits outside schools and safer walking

and cycling routes.

Nearly ?8,000 will be spent on widening Glasfryn road linking

the A487 between Haverfordwest and Fishguard.

The local authority says its committed to improving safety.

Football, and Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidoorlin says one

more win will secure the club's Premier League status

for a sixth consecutive season.

Guidolin's side came from two goals down to secure a point at Stoke City

and are 10 points clear of the relegation zone

but the Italian says one more victory is needed

from their remaining six games.

Onto motorsport and it s been a good weekend for Chaz Davies,

he's moved into second place in the World Superbike championship

after winning back to back races in Aragon.

the opening three races of the season.
